इन्द्रं॑ मि॒त्रं वरु॑णम॒ग्निमू॒तये॒ मारु॑तं॒ शर्धो॒ अदि॑तिं हवामहे । रथं॒ न दु॒र्गाद्व॑सवः सुदानवो॒ विश्व॑स्मान्नो॒ अंह॑सो॒ निष्पि॑पर्तन ॥
इन्द्र॑म् । मि॒त्रम् । वरु॑णम् । अ॒ग्निम् । ऊ॒तये॑ । मारु॑तम् । शर्धः॑ । अदि॑तिम् । ह॒वा॒म॒हे॒ । रथ॑म् । न । दुः॒ऽगात् । व॒स॒वः॒ । सु॒ऽदा॒नवः॒ । विश्व॑स्मात् । नः॒ । अंह॑सः । निः । पि॒प॒र्त॒न॒ ॥
ऊतये रक्षणाय वयमिन्द्रादीन् मारुतं शर्धः मरुत्समूहरूपं बलं च हवामहे आह्वयामहे । वसवः निवासयितारः सुदानवः शोभनदानाः इन्द्रादयः विश्वस्मात् सर्वस्मात् अंहसः पापात् नः अस्मान् निष्पिपर्तन निर्गमय्य पालयत। तत्र दृष्टान्तः ।रथं न दुर्गात् । गन्तुमशक्यान्निम्नोन्नतात् स्थानात् सारथयो यथा रथं पालयन्ति तद्वत् ॥ पिपर्तन। ‘ पृ इत्येके'। लोटि ‘तप्तनप्तनथनाश्च इति तस्य तनबादेशः । पित्त्वेन ङित्त्वाभावात् गुणः ।“ अर्तिपिपर्त्योश्च ' इति अभ्यासस्य इत्वम् ॥
“We invoke, for our preservation, Indra, Mitra, Varuṇa, Agni, the might of the Maruts, and Aditi; may they, who are bountiful and bestowers of dwellings, extricate us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.”
CALL we for aid on Indra, Mitra, Varuna and Agni and the Marut host and Aditi.
Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.
Indra, Mitra, Varuṇa, Agni, the Maruts’ troop, and Aditi do we call upon for help.
– Like a chariot from a hard place, o good ones of good gifts, rescue us from all narrow straits.
Wir rufen Mitra, Varuna zur Hülfe uns, den Agni, Aditi, die Marutschar herbei; Wie einen Wagen führet aus der Enge uns aus aller Noth, o gabenreiche, gute ihr.
Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, die marutische Heerschar, die Aditi rufen wir zum Beistand. Wie einen Wagen aus unfahrbarem Wege, so helfet uns aus aller Not heraus, ihr freigebigen Götter!

हे आदित्याः अदितेः पुत्राः देवाः ते यूयं सर्वतातये सर्वैर्वीरपुरुषैस्तताय विस्तारिताय युद्धाय । युद्धेऽस्माकं साहाय्यं कर्तुमित्यर्थः । आ गत आगच्छत । अपि च वृत्रतूर्येषु । संग्रामनामैतत् । संग्रामेषु शंभुवः सुखस्य भावयितारः भूत भवत ॥ गत । गमेर्लोटि ‘बहुलं छन्दसि ' इति शपो लुक् ॥
“Sons of Aditi, come with all (your hosts) to battle; be to us the cause of happiness in combats, and may they, whoare bountiful and bestowers of dwellings, extricate us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.”
Come ye Adityas for our full prosperity, in conquests of the foe, ye Gods, bring joy to us.
Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.
O Ādityas, come here for our wholeness; o gods, become luck itself in the overcoming of obstacles.
– Like a chariot from a hard place, o good ones of good gifts, rescue us from all narrow straits.
Ihr, o Aditja's, kommet her zu unserm Heil, seid segensreich in Schlachten, o ihr Götter, uns; Wie einen Wagen führet aus der Enge uns aus aller Noth, o gabenreiche, gute ihr.
Ihr Adityas kommet herbei, daß wir heil bleiben! Seid in den Kämpfen glückbringend, ihr Götter! - Wie einen Wagen aus unfahrbarem Wege, so helfet uns aus aller Not heraus, ihr freigebigen Götter!

नः अस्मान् पितरः अग्निष्वात्तादयः अवन्तु रक्षन्तु । कीदृशाः। 'सुप्रवाचनाः सुखेन प्रवक्तुं स्तोतुं शक्याः । उत अपि च देवपुत्रे देवाः सर्वे पुत्रस्थानीया ययोस्ते ऋतावृधा ऋतस्य सत्यस्य यज्ञस्य वा वर्धयित्र्यौ देवी देवनादिगुणयुक्ते द्यावापृथिव्यौ अस्मान् रक्षताम्। अन्यत् समानम् ॥ देवी । वा छन्दसि ' इति पूर्वसवर्णदीर्घत्वम् । ऋतावृधा । वृधेरन्तर्भावितण्यर्थात् क्विप्। सुपां सुलुक्' इति विभक्तेः आकारः ॥
“May the Pitrṣ, who are easily to be praised protect us; and may the two divinities, heaven and earth, the promoters of sacrifices, and of whom, the gods are progeny, protect us; and may they, who are bountiful and givers of dwellings, extricate us from sin, as a chariot from a defile.”
May the most glorious Fathers aid us, and the two Goddesses, Mothers of the Gods, who strengthen Law.
Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.
Let the Fathers help us, those good to proclaim, and the two goddesses [=Heaven and Earth], whose sons are the gods, strong through truth. – Like a chariot from a hard place, o good ones of good gifts, rescue us from all narrow straits.
Die hochgerühmten Väter mögen helfen uns, der Götter heil'ge Mütter, Erd' und Himmel auch; Wie einen Wagen führet aus der Enge uns aus aller Noth, o gabenreiche, gute ihr.
Es sollen uns die gelobten Väter beistehen und die beiden Göttinnen, deren Söhne die Götter sind, die Wahrheitsmehrerinnen. - Wie einen Wagen aus unfahrbarem Wege, so helfet uns aus aller Not heraus, ihr freigebigen Götter!

नराशंसं नरैः शंसनीयं वाजिनम् अन्नवन्तमग्निं वाजयन् उपवाजयन् प्रज्वलयन् इह अस्मिन् काले स्तौमीति शेषः । तथा क्षयद्वीरम् अतिबलिनं यस्मिन् सर्वे वीराः क्षीयन्ते एवंरूपं पूषणं पोषकं देवं सुम्नैः सुखकरैः स्तोत्रैर्हेतुभूतैः ईमहे याचामहे अभीष्टं प्रार्थयामहे ॥ नराशंसम् । ' उभे वनस्पत्यादिषु' इति युगपदुभयपदप्रकृतिस्वरत्वम् । नरशब्दः ‘ऋदोरप्' इति अबन्त आद्युदात्तः। निपातनात् दीर्घः । शंसशब्दो घञन्त आद्युदात्तः । वाजयन् ।‘वज व्रज गतौ' । अस्मात् णिच् । क्षयद्वीरम् । ‘ क्षि क्षये '। लटः शतृ । शपि प्राप्ते व्यत्ययेन शः । तस्य छन्दस्युभयथा' इति आर्धधातुकत्वेन ङित्त्वाभावात् गुणायादेशौ । अदुपदेशात् लसार्वधातुकानुदात्तत्वे विकरणस्वरः । अतो गुणे इति पररूपत्वे ' एकादेश उदात्तेन ' इति एकादेश उदात्तः । क्षयन्तो वीरा यस्मिन् । बहुव्रीहौ पूर्वपदप्रकृतिस्वरत्वम् ॥
“Exciting him who is the praised of men and the giver of food, (to be present) at this rite, we solicit (also) with our praises him who is the purifier and destroyer of heroes; may they, who are bountiful and the givers of food, extricate us from sun, as a chariot from a defile”
To mighty Narasamsa, strengthening his might, to Pusan, ruler over men, we pray with hymns.

Inciting the prizewinner Narāśaṃsa here—with appeals for grace we beg Pūṣan, who rules over heroes.

Hier treiben wir den starken Naraçansa an, und flehn zum Männerherrscher Puschan mit Gebet; Wie einen Wagen führet aus der Enge uns aus aller Noth, o gabenreiche, gute ihr.
Den Narasama bitte ich jetzt, den Sieggewinner zum Sieg anspornend; den männerberauschenden Pusan bitten wir mit freundlichen Worten. - Wie einen Wagen aus unfahrbarem Wege, so helfet uns aus aller Not heraus, ihr freigebigen Götter!
К Нарашансе, приносящему награду (мы обращаемся) здесь, вдохновляя (его) к награде,
К Пушану, владеющему героями, мы обращаемся с просьбами о милости.

बृहस्पते सदमित् सदैव नः अस्माकं सुगम् सुखनामैतत् । सुखं कृधि कुरु । अपि च ते तव स्वभूतं शं शमनीयानां रोगाणामुपशमनं योः पृथक्कर्तव्यानां भयानां यावनं पृथक्करणं मनुर्हितं मनुना ब्रह्मणा हितं त्वय्यवस्थापितम् । यद्वा । मनुष्याणामनुकूलम् । एवंविधं शमनं यावनं च यत् अस्ति तदीमहे याचामहे ॥ सुगम् । सुष्ठु गम्यतेऽस्मिन्निति सुगम् । सुदुरोरधिकरणे ' इति गमेर्डः । शं योः इत्येतत् पदद्वयं यास्केनैवं व्याख्यातं - ‘ शमनं च रोगाणां यावनं च भयानाम् ' (निरु. ४. २१ ) इति । मनुर्हितम् । मनेरौणादिक उसिन्प्रत्ययः । तृतीया कर्मणि' इति पूर्वपदप्रकृतिस्वरत्वम् ॥
“Bṛhaspati, always confer happiness upon us, we solicit that faculty of both (alleviating pain and obvitaing peril) implanted in you by Manu; may they, who are bountiful and the givers of dwellings extricate us from all sins, as a chariot from a defile.”
Brhaspati, make us evermore an easy path: we crave what boon thou hast for men in rest and stir.
Like as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.
O Br̥haspati, make easy passage for us always. The luck and lifetime of yours that was set in place by Manu—that we beg for.
– Like a chariot from a hard place, o good ones of good gifts, rescue us from all narrow straits.
Brihaspati, verschaffe stets uns schöne Bahn; das Heil und Glück, was Menschen fördert, wünschen wir; Wie einen Wagen führet aus der Enge uns aus aller Noth, o gabenreiche, gute ihr.
Brihaspati, schaff uns immerdar gute Bahn! Das Glück und Heil, das du für Manus bestimmt hast, darum bitten wir. - Wie einen Wagen aus unfahrbarem Wege, so helfet uns aus aller Not heraus, ihr freigebigen Götter!
О Брихаспати, всегда создавай нам легкий выход!
Счастье и благо, что ты установил для Ману, – об этом мы просили (тебя),

काटः इति कूपनाम । तस्मिन् निबाळ्हः निपातितः कुत्सः ऋषिः ऊतये रक्षणाय इन्द्रम् अह्वत् आह्वयति स्म । कीदृशम् । वृत्रहणं वृत्राणां शत्रूणां हन्तारं शचीपतिम् । शचीति कर्मनाम । सर्वेषां कर्मणां पालयितारम् । यद्वा । शच्या देव्याः भर्तारम् ॥ शचीपतिम् । वनस्पत्यादिषु पाठादुभयपदप्रकृतिस्वरत्वम् । शचीशब्दः शार्ङ्गरवादिङीनन्त आद्युदात्तः । निबाळ्हः । ‘ बाहृ प्रयत्ने । नीत्युपसर्गवशात् पतने वर्तते । निष्ठायाम् ' अनित्यमागमशासनम्' इति इडभावः। ढत्वधत्वादीनि । यद्वा ।' क्षुब्धस्वान्त° ' ( पा. सू. ७. २. १८) इत्यादौ भृशार्थे इडभावो निपात्यते । अत्र च बाढशब्दो भृशत्वोपेते' पतने सामर्थ्याद्वर्तते । ‘ गतिरनन्तरः' इति गतेः प्रकृतिस्वरत्वम् । अह्वत् । ‘ लिपिसिचिह्वश्च' (पा. सू. ३. १. ५३ ) इति लुङि च्लेरादेशः । ‘ आतो लोप इटि च' इत्याकारलोपः ॥
“Kutsa, the ṛṣi, thrown into a well, has invoked to his succour, Indra, the slayer of enemies, the encourager of good works; may they, who are bountiful and the givers of dwellings, extricate us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.”
Sunk in the pit the Rsi Kutsa called, to aid, Indra the Vrtra-slayer, Lord of power and might.
Even as a chariot from a difficult ravine, bountiful Vasus, rescue us from all distress.
Kutsa the seer, squeezed down into a pit, called on Indra, smasher of Vr̥tra, lord of power, for help.

Der Sänger Kutsa rief umschlossen in der Kluft den Vritratödter Indra, Herrn der Kraft herbei; Wie einen Wagen führet aus der Enge uns aus aller Noth, o gabenreiche, gute ihr.
Indra, den Vritratöter, den Herrn der Kraft, hat der Rishi Kutsa, als er in die Grube hinabgestoßen war, zur Hilfe gerufen. - Wie einen Wagen aus unfahrbarem Wege, so helfet uns aus aller Not heraus, ihr freigebigen Götter!

देवी दानादिगुणयुक्ता अदितिः अखण्डनीया अदीना वा देवमाता देवैः दानादिगुणयुक्तैः स्वकीयैः पुत्रैः सह नः अस्मान् नि पातु नितरां रक्षतु । देवः दीप्यमानः त्राता सर्वेषां रक्षकः सविता अप्रयुच्छन् अप्रमाद्यन् अस्मद्रक्षणे जागरूकः सन्त्रायताम् अस्मान् पालयतु । यदनेन सूक्तेनास्माभिः प्रार्थितं नः अस्मदीयं तत् मित्रादयः षड्देवताः ममहन्तां पूजयन्तु ॥ त्रायताम् । ‘त्रैङ् पालने '। भौवादिकः । अप्रयुच्छन् । युच्छ प्रमादे'। अस्मात् लटः शतृ । नञ्समासेऽव्ययपूर्वपदप्रकृतिस्वरत्वम् ॥ ॥ २४ ॥
“May the goddess, Aditi, with the gods, protect us, and may the radiant guardian, (the sun), be vigilant fo rour protection; and may they, who are bountiful and the givers of dwellings, extricate us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.”
May Aditi the Goddess guard us with the Gods: may the protecting God keep us with ceaseless care.
This prayer of ours may Varuna grant, and Mitra, and Aditi and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.
Let goddess Aditi, with the gods, keep guard over us. Let the god Protector protect us, not keeping his distance.
– This let Mitra and Varuṇa grant to us, and Aditi, River, and Earth and Heaven.
Uns möge mit den Göttern die Göttin Aditi beschützen, der Gott Trātar [der Retter] möge uns retten unablässig; Das möge uns Mitra Varuna gewähren und Aditi, das Meer und Erd' und Himmel.
Mit den Göttern soll uns die Göttin Aditi behüten. Der Gott Schützer soll uns ohne Unterlaß schützen. Das sollen Mitra, Varuna gewähren, Aditi, Sindhu, Erde und Himmel!
Пусть охраняет нас богиня Адити вместе с богами!
Бог-защитник пусть защищает нас непрестанно!
Пусть нам это щедро даруют Митра, Варуна,
Адити, Синдху, Земля и Небо!
