देवताआत्मस्तुतिः

छन्दगायत्री
इति॒ वा इति॑ मे॒ मनो॒ गामश्वं॑ सनुया॒मिति॑ । कु॒वित्सोम॒स्यापा॒मिति॑ ॥
इति॑ । वै । इति॑ । मे॒ । मनः॑ । गाम् । अश्व॑म् । स॒नु॒या॒म् । इति॑ । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
इति वै इति खलु इति एवंप्रकारेण मे मदीयं मनः वर्तते । तं प्रकारं दर्शयति । गामश्वं च सनुयां स्तोतृभ्यः प्रयच्छामि इति । षणु दाने । तानादिकः। इतिशब्दो हेतौ । यस्मात् कुवित् बहुवारं सोमस्य सोमम् अपां पीतवानस्मि ॥ ‘ क्रियाग्रहणं कर्तव्यम्' इति सोमस्य संप्रदानसंज्ञा। चतुर्थ्यर्थे बहुलम् ' इति षष्ठी। ‘ पा पाने ' । लुङि • गातिस्था ' इति सिचो लुक् । कुविद्योगादनिघातः ॥
“Thus, indeed, thus my mind (resolved): " I will give cows and horses to my worshippers", for I haveoften drunk of the Soma.”
THIS, even this was my resolve, to win a cow, to win a steed:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
Yes for sure! Yes (says) my mind: I could win cow and horse—yes! – Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Hierhin und dorthin steht mein Sinn, geb' ich ein Ross? geb' ich ein Rind? Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
So, ja so ist mein Sinn: Ich möchte Rind und Roß verschenken. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

Я хотел бы добыть быка (и) коня –
Не напился ли я сомы?

दोधतः भृशं कम्पयमानाः वाताइव वायवो यथा वृक्षादीनुद्यच्छन्ते तद्वत् पीताः सोमाः मा मां प्रकर्षेण उत् अयंसत उद्यच्छन्ते ॥ यमेर्लुङि समुदाङ्भ्यो यमोऽग्रन्थे ' (पा. सू. १. ३. ७५) इत्यात्मनेपदम् । यस्माद्बहुवारं सोमम् अपाम् ॥
“Like the winds violently shaking (the trees), the draughts (of Soma) have lifted me up, for I have oftendrunk of the Soma.”
Like violent gusts of wind the draughts that I have drunk have lifted me
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
Forth like raging winds, the draughts have lifted me up.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Wie Wirbelwinde haben mich die Tränke schüttelnd aufgeregt; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Wie die Winde die widerstrebenden Bäume, so haben mich die getrunkenen Somasäfte emporgehoben. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

Понесли меня вверх выпитые (соки сомы) –
Не напился ли я сомы?

उत् । मा॒ । पी॒ताः । अ॒यं॒स॒त॒ । रथ॑म् । अश्वाः॑ऽइव । आ॒शवः॑ । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
पीताः सोमाः माम् उत् अयंसत उद्यच्छन्ते । तत्र दृष्टान्तः। रथमश्वाइव यथा आशवः क्षिप्रगामिनो गमनेन व्याप्ता वाश्वा रथमुद्गमयन्ति तद्वत् ॥
“The draughts (of Soma) have lifted me up like swift horses (drawing) a chariot, for I have often drunkof the Soma.”
The draughts I drank have borne me up, as fleet-foot horses draw a car:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
The draughts have lifted me up, like swift horses a chariot.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Die Tränke haben mich erregt, wie schnelle Rosse das Gefährt; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Die getrunkenen Säfte haben mich emporgehoben wie rasche Rosse den Wagen. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

उप॑ । मा । म॒तिः । अ॒स्थि॒त॒ । वा॒श्रा । पु॒त्रम्ऽइ॑व । प्रि॒यम् । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
मतिः स्तोतृभिः क्रियमाणा स्तुतिः मा माम् उप अस्थित संयोजयति ॥ ‘ उपाद्देवपूजासंगतिकरण ' (पा. सू. १. ३. २५. १ ) इत्यात्मनेपदम् । कथमिव । वाश्रा पुत्रमिव यथा वाश्रा शब्दायमाना धेनुः प्रियं पुत्रं वत्सं सँगच्छति तद्वत् ॥
“The Praise (of the pious) has come to me like a lowing cow to her beloved calf, for I have often drunkof the Soma.”
The hymn hath reached me, like a cow who lows to meet her darling calf:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
A thought has come up close to me, like a bellowing cow to her
dear son.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Mir hat die Bitte sich genaht, gleich wie die Kuh dem lieben Kalb; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Das Gebet ist mir genaht wie die brüllende Kuh ihrem lieben Sohne. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.
Ко мне приблизилась молитва,
Как мычащая корова – к любимому сыну –
Не напился ли я сомы?
अ॒हं तष्टे॑व व॒न्धुरं॒ पर्य॑चामि हृ॒दा म॒तिम् । कु॒वित्सोम॒स्यापा॒मिति॑ ॥
अ॒हम् । तष्टा॑ऽइव । व॒न्धुर॑म् । परि॑ । अ॒चा॒मि॒ । हृ॒दा । म॒तिम् । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
तष्टेव तक्षा यथा वन्धुरं सारथिनिवासस्थानम् । तद्वान् वोपलक्ष्यते । तत्स्थानं रथं वा साधुकरोति तद्वत् अहं मतिं स्तुतिं हृदा आत्मीयेन मनसा पर्यचामि । साधुकरणाय परिगच्छामि ॥
“I revolve the song of praise in my heart as a carpenter (making) a charioteer's seat, for I have oftendrunk of the Soma.”
As a wright bends a chariot-seat so round my heart I bend the hymn:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
Like an artisan a chariot-box, I bend the thought around with my heart. – Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Wie Wagner einen Wagensitz beweg' die Bitt' im Herzen ich; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Ich drehe das Gebet im Herzen herum wie der Zimmermann die Wagenbank. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.
Я, как плотник – кузов (повозки)
Поворачивая кругом молитву в (своем) сердце –
Не напился ли я сомы?
न॒हि मे॑ अक्षि॒पच्च॒नाच्छा॑न्त्सु॒: पञ्च॑ कृ॒ष्टय॑: । कु॒वित्सोम॒स्यापा॒मिति॑ ॥
न॒हि । मे॒ । अ॒क्षि॒ऽपत् । च॒न । अच्छा॑न्त्सुः । पञ्च॑ । कृ॒ष्टयः॑ । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
चन इति निपातसमुदायोऽप्यर्थे। पञ्च कृष्टयः अपि निषादपञ्चमाश्चत्वारो वर्णाः पञ्च जनाः । यद्वा । देवमनुष्यादयः । मे मदीयम् अक्षिपत् चक्षुःपतनं दृष्टिसंचारं नहि अच्छान्त्सुः न ह्यपवृण्वन्ति° । न हि द्रष्टुर्दृष्टेर्विपरिलोपो विद्यते ' (श. ब्रा. १४. ७. १. २३ ) इति हि श्रुतेः । ‘ छदि अपवारणे ' । ' चुरादीनाम् ' इति वा ण्यन्तत्वादत्र ण्यभावे लुङि हलन्तलक्षणा वृद्धिः (पा. सू: ७. २. ३ ) ॥ यस्माद्बहुवारं सोमम् अपाम् ॥ ॥ २६ ॥
“The five castes have not eluded the gloance of my eye, for I have often drunk of the Soma.”
Not as a mote within the eye count the Five Tribes of men with me:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
Because the five peoples have not appeared to me to be even a speck... – Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Kaum wie ein Stäubchen dünken mir die Menschenstämme alle fünf; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Denn die fünf Völker sind mir nicht einmal so viel wie ein Augenstäubchen erschienen. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

न॒हि । मे॒ । रोद॑सी॒ इति॑ । उ॒भे इति॑ । अ॒न्यम् । प॒क्षम् । च॒न । प्रति॑ । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
उभे रोदसी द्यावापृथिव्यौ मे मदीयम् अन्यं पक्षं चन पक्षमपि प्रति समाने न भवतः॥
“Both heaven and earth (are) not equal to one half of me, for I have often drunk of the Soma.”
The heavens and earth themselves have not grown equal to one half of me
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
Because both world-halves are not equal to even one wing of mine ... – Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Auch Erd' und Himmel beide sind nicht meiner einen Hälfte gleich; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Denn beide Welten kommen nicht einmal meinem einen Flügel gleich. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

अ॒भि । द्याम् । म॒हि॒ना । भु॒व॒म् । अ॒भि । इ॒माम् । पृ॒थि॒वीम् । म॒हीम् । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
उक्तमर्थं प्रतिपादयति । महिना महिम्नात्मीयेन द्यां द्युलोकम् अभि भुवम् अभिभवामि । तथा महीं महतीम् इमां पृथिवीं स्वमहिम्ना अभि भवामि ॥ भवतेर्लङि छान्दसो विकरणस्य लुक् । ‘ भूसुवोस्तिङि ' (पा. सू. ७. ३. ८८) इति गुणे प्रतिषिद्ध उवङादेशः ॥
“I excel the sky in greatness, (I excel) this great earth, for I have often drunk of the Soma.”
I in my grandeur have surpassed the heavens and all this spacious earth
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
By my greatness I have surmounted heaven and this great earth.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
An Grösse hab' den Himmel ich, die grosse Erde überragt, Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
An Größe überrage ich den Himmel und diese große Erde. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

Пре(взошел) эту великую землю –
Не напился ли я сомы?

हन्त इति संभावनायामनुज्ञायां वा । संभावयाम्येतदनुजानामि वा। किं तत् । अहम् इमां पृथिवीम् इह वा अन्तरिक्षे नि दधानि । इह वा द्युलोके इति हस्तेन निर्दिशति । दधातेर्लोटि मेर्निः ॥
“Lo! I will plural ce this earth (where I will), either here or there, for I have often drunk of the Soma.”
Aha! this spacious earth will I deposit either here or there
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
Blast it! I will set down this earth here—or over here.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Wohl! diese Erde will ich nun versetzen hierhin oder dort; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Wohlan! Ich will diese Erde hier oder dorthin setzen. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

Землю там или тут –

ओ॒षम् । इत् । पृ॒थि॒वीम् । अ॒हम् । ज॒ङ्घना॑नि । इ॒ह । वा॒ । इ॒ह । वा॒ । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
अहं पृथिवीम् अभिलक्ष्य ओषं स्वतेजसा तापकमादित्यम् इह वा अन्तरिक्षे इह वा द्युलोके जङ्घनानि भृशं यापयानि । इत् इति पूरणः ॥ हन्तेर्गत्यर्थस्य यङ्लुगन्तस्य लोटि शपो लुगभावश्छान्दसः ॥
“I will drive the scorching (sun) either here or there, for I have often drunk of the Soma.”
In one short moment will I smite the earth in fury here or there:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
I will keep smiting the earth to blazes—here or over there.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Im Nu will ich die Erde auch zerschmettern hier wol oder dort; Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Schnell will ich die Erde hier oder dorthin stoßen. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

Землю там или тут –

मे मदीयः अन्यः पक्षः दिवि द्युलोके स्थापितः। अधः ॥ ' पूर्वाधरावराणामसि (पा. सू. ५. ३. ३९ ) इत्यादिनासिप्रत्ययः । प्रकृतेरधादेशश्च ॥ अधस्तात्पृथिव्याम् अन्यं पक्षम् अचीकृषम् अकार्क्षम् ॥ ‘ कृष विलेखने ' । ण्यन्तस्य लुङि चङि ‘ नित्यं छन्दसि' (पा. सू. ७. ४. ८) इत्यृकारादेशः ॥ विलेखनं नामोत्पादनम् । उदपादयम् । आस्थापयमित्यर्थः ॥
“One of my wings is in the sky; the other I dragged below, for I have often drunk of the Soma.”
One of my flanks is in the sky; I let the other trail below:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
In heaven is one wing of mine; I have dragged the other below.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Im Himmel ist mein einer Theil, den andern streck' ich tief hinab, Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Im Himmel ist mein einer Flügel, den anderen ließ ich unten schleifen. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.
На небе одно мое крыло,
Другое поволок я внизу –
Не напился ли я сомы?
अ॒हम॑स्मि महाम॒हो॑ऽभिन॒भ्यमुदी॑षितः । कु॒वित्सोम॒स्यापा॒मिति॑ ॥
अ॒हम् । अ॒स्मि॒ । म॒हा॒ऽम॒हः । अ॒भि॒ऽन॒भ्यम् । उ॒त्ऽई॑षितः । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
अभिनभ्यं नाभौ मध्यस्थाने भवं नभ्यमन्तरिक्षम्। 'उगवादिभ्यो यत् ' (पा. सू. ५. १. ३) इति यत्प्रत्ययः । तत्रैव पाठान्नभादेशश्च । ' लक्षणेनाभिप्रती आभिमुख्ये ' ( पा. सू. २. १. १४) इत्यव्ययीभावः । समासस्वरः । अन्तरिक्षमभि उदीषितः उद्गतः सूर्यात्मा अहं महामहः अस्मि । महतामपि महानस्मि । यद्वा । महत् प्रभूतं महस्तेजो यस्य । प्रभूततेजस्कोऽस्मि ॥ ‘ आन्महतः । (पा. सू. ६. ३. ४६ ) इत्यात्वम् ॥
“I am (the sun), the greatest of the great, raised to the firmament, for I have often drunk of the Soma.”
1, greatest of the Mighty Ones, am lifted to the firmament:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
Here I am—greater than great, sped upward to the clouds.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Sehr gross bin ich und habe mich zur Wolkenhöh' emporgestreckt Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Ich bin großmächtig, bin zu den Wolken erhöht. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.

Я поднялся до туч –
Не напился ли я сомы?
गृ॒हो या॒म्यरं॑कृतो दे॒वेभ्यो॑ हव्य॒वाह॑नः । कु॒वित्सोम॒स्यापा॒मिति॑ ॥
गृ॒हः । या॒मि॒ । अर॑म्ऽकृतः । दे॒वेभ्यः॑ । ह॒व्य॒ऽवाह॑नः । कु॒वित् । सोम॑स्य । अपा॑म् । इति॑ ॥
गृहः हविषां ग्रहीता अरंकृतः यजमानैरलंकृतोऽहं देवेभ्यः इन्द्रादिभ्यः हव्यवाहनः हविषां वोढा प्रापयिता अग्न्यात्मा सन् यामि हवींषि प्रापयामि ॥ ‘ या प्रापणे '। लट् । ‘ हव्येऽनन्तःपादम् ' इति वहेर्ञ्युट् । ञित्त्वादाद्युदात्तः । समासे कृदुत्तरपदप्रकृतिस्वरः ॥ इति यस्मात् कुवित् बहुवारं सोमस्य सोमम् अपां पीतवानस्मि । तस्मादेतान्यकार्षमितीन्द्रः स्वात्मानमेवास्तावीत् ॥ ॥ २७ ॥
“Receiving the offering I go, graced (by the worshippers), bearing the oblation to the gods, for I haveoften drunk of the Soma.”
I seek the worshipper's abode; oblation-bearer to the Gods:
Have I not drunk of Soma juice?
As a household that is properly equipped, I journey as the carrier of the oblations to the gods.
– Have I drunk of the soma? Yes!
Ich gehe als Diener bereit gemacht, indem ich den Göttern die Opferspeisen zuführe. Hat mich der Soma denn berauscht?
Ich gehe, ein reichausgestattetes Haus, den Göttern die Opfer bringend. - Ich merke, daß ich Soma getrunken habe.
Отбываю – хорошо оснащенный дом, –
Везя богам жертвоприношения –
Не напился ли я сомы?
