प्र स॑साहिषे पुरुहूत॒ शत्रू॒ञ्ज्येष्ठ॑स्ते॒ शुष्म॑ इ॒ह रा॒तिर॑स्तु । इन्द्रा भ॑र॒ दक्षि॑णेना॒ वसू॑नि॒ पति॒: सिन्धू॑नामसि रे॒वती॑नाम् ॥
प्र । स॒स॒हि॒षे॒ । पु॒रु॒ऽहू॒त॒ । शत्रू॑न् । ज्येष्ठः॑ । ते॒ । शुष्मः॑ । इ॒ह । रा॒तिः । अ॒स्तु॒ । इन्द्र॑ । आ । भ॒र॒ । दक्षि॑णेन । वसू॑नि । पतिः॑ । सिन्धू॑नाम् । अ॒सि॒ । रे॒वती॑नाम् ॥
हे पुरुहूत बहुभिराहूतेन्द्र शत्रून् वैरिणः प्र ससाहिषे प्रकर्षेणाभिभवसि । ते तव शुष्मः शोषकं बलं ज्येष्ठः प्रशस्यतमं वृद्धतमं वा भवति । इह अस्मिन् कर्मणि रातिः तव दानम् अस्तु अस्मभ्यं भवतु । तदर्थं हे इन्द्र दक्षिणेन हस्तेन वसूनि धनानि आ भर आहर आनय । त्वं रेवतीनां रयिमतीनां बहुधनानां सिन्धूनां स्यन्दनशीलानां नदीनां पतिः असि स्वामी भवसि ॥ रयिशब्दान्मतुपि ‘ रयेर्मतौ बहुलम्' इति संप्रसारणम् । ‘ छन्दसीरः इति मतुपो वत्वम् । रेशब्दाच्च°' (का. ६.१.१७६.१ ) इति तस्योदात्तत्वम् ॥
“Indra, invoked of many, you triumph over your enemies; pre-eminent is your strength, may yourgenerosity be shown on this occasion; bring treasures with your right hand; you are the lord of thewealth-conveying rivers.”
O MUCH-INVOKED, thou hast subdued thy foemen: thy might is loftiest; here display thy bounty.
In thy right hand, O Indra, bring us treasures: thou art the Lord of rivers filled with riches.
O much-summoned one, you have vanquished your rivals. Your
tempestuous power is preeminent. Now let your giving be here:
Indra, bring good things here along with the priestly gift. You are the master of rich rivers.
Du vielgerufner hast besiegt die Feinde, aufs beste sei hier deine Kraft und Gabe, Bring' in der Rechten Schätze her, o Indra, du bist der Herr der güterreichen Ströme.
Du Vielgerufener hast die Feinde bezwungen. Dein Mut ist der größte, hier soll deine Gabe sein! Bring, Indra, mit der Rechten Schätze; du bist der Herr der reichen Ströme!
Ты, о многопризываемый, подавил врагов.
Твоя отвага самая лучшая. Здесь пусть будет (твой) дар!

मृ॒गो न भी॒मः कु॑च॒रो गि॑रि॒ष्ठाः प॑रा॒वत॒ आ ज॑गन्था॒ पर॑स्याः । सृ॒कं सं॒शाय॑ प॒विमि॑न्द्र ति॒ग्मं वि शत्रू॑न्ताळ्हि॒ वि मृधो॑ नुदस्व ॥
मृ॒गः । न । भी॒मः । कु॒च॒रः । गि॒रि॒ऽस्थाः । प॒रा॒ऽवतः॑ । आ । ज॒ग॒न्थ॒ । पर॑स्याः । सृ॒कम् । स॒म्ऽशाय॑ । प॒विम् । इ॒न्द्र॒ । ति॒ग्मम् । वि । शत्रू॑न् । ता॒ळ्हि॒ । वि । मृधः॑ । नु॒द॒स्व॒ ॥
कुचरः कुत्सितचरणः गिरिष्ठाः पर्वतनिवासी मृगो न सिंह इव हे इन्द्र त्वं भीमः भयंकरोsसि । स त्वं परस्याः परावतः अतिशयेन दूरात् द्युलोकात आ जगन्थ आगच्छ । गमेश्छान्दसे लिट कादिनियमप्राप्तस्येटः ‘ उपदेशेऽत्वत: ' ( पा. सू. ७.२.६२ ) इति प्रतिषेधः ॥ आगत्य च सृकं सरणशीलं तिग्मं तीक्ष्णं पविं वज्रं संशाय सम्यक् तीक्ष्णीकृत्य शत्रून् अस्मदीयान् वैरिणो हे इन्द्र तेन वज्रेण वि ताळिह विशेषेण ताडय । विनाशयेत्यर्थः ॥ ‘ तड आघाते' । अस्माल्लोटि ण्यन्ताद्रूपमेतत् ॥ तथा मृधः संग्रामोद्युक्तान् युयुत्सूनन्यानपि वि नुदस्व विशेषेण तिरस्कुरु ॥
“Terrible are you as a wandering lion who dwells in the mountains; come from a far-off, distant (world);having whetted your rapid and sharp bolt, destroy our enemies, Indra, put to flight our opponents.”
Like a dread wild beast roaming on the mountain thou hast approached us from the farthest distance.
Whetting thy bold and thy sharp blade, O Indra, crush thou the foe and scatter those who hate us.
Like a fearsome wild beast, living in the mountains and roaming
wherever it wants, you have come here from the farther distance.
Having honed sharp your fang and your wheel-rim, Indra, carve apart your rivals. Shove aside the scornful.
Du bist aus weiter Ferne hergekommen, ein grimmer Leu, der durch die Berge hinstürmt, Den Blitzstrahl wetze, deine scharfe Klinge, zerschlag die Feinde, Indra, und zerstreu sie.
Im Gebirge hausend wie das furchtbare umherschweifende wilde Tier, bist du aus fernster Ferne gekommen. Deinen Spieß schärfend, deine spitze Klinge, o Indra, enthaupte die Feinde, treibe die Verächter auseinander!
Страшный, как зверь, бродящий (неизвестно) где, живущий в горах,
Ты пришел из самой дальней дали.
Оттачивая лезвие, острый наконечник,
Обезглавь врагов, разгони противников!
इन्द्र॑ क्ष॒त्रम॒भि वा॒ममोजोऽजा॑यथा वृषभ चर्षणी॒नाम् । अपा॑नुदो॒ जन॑ममित्र॒यन्त॑मु॒रुं दे॒वेभ्यो॑ अकृणोरु लो॒कम् ॥
इन्द्र॑ । क्ष॒त्रम् । अ॒भि । वा॒मम् । ओजः॑ । अजा॑यथाः । वृ॒ष॒भ॒ । च॒र्ष॒णी॒नाम् । अप॑ । अ॒नु॒दः॒ । जन॑म् । अ॒मि॒त्र॒ऽयन्त॑म् । उ॒रुम् । दे॒वेभ्यः॑ । अ॒कृ॒णोः॒ । ऊँ॒ इति॑ । लो॒कम् ॥
हे इन्द्र क्षत्रं क्षतात्त्रायकं वामं वननीयं ओजः बलमभिलक्ष्य अजायथाः उत्पन्नोऽसि । हे वृषभ कामानां वर्षितः चर्षणीनां मनुष्याणामस्माकम् ॥ ‘नामन्यतरस्याम्' इति नाम उदात्तत्वम् ॥ अमित्रयन्तम् । अमित्रः शत्रुः । स इवाचरन्तं जनम् अपानुदः अपागमयः । देवेभ्यः च उरुं विस्तीर्णं लोकं स्वर्गाख्यम् अकृणोः अकार्षीः । उशब्दः समुच्चये ॥ ॥ ३८ ॥
“You have been born, Indra, endowed with protecting and desirable vigour; benefactor of mankind, youdid drive away the man who was unfriendly(to us), you prepared a spacious region for the gods.”
Thou, mighty Indra, sprangest into being as strength for lovely lordship o'er the people.
Thou drovest off the folk who were unfriendly, and to the Gods thou gavest room and freedom.
O Indra, thou wast born for rule,
for prosperous strength Of the people, O strong one;
Thou didst smite away the unfriendly folk,
And madest wide room for the gods.
Indra, you were born to dominion and to might worth winning, you bull of the settled domains.
You drove away the people that are not allies. You made a wide
wide-place for the gods.

Zu grosser Macht und Herrschaft bist du, Indra, geboren als der Lebenden Gebieter; Du stiessest fort das Volk, das uns befeindet, und schafftest auch den Göttern weite Freiheit.
Indra, du wurdest zu guter Herrschaft und Stärke geboren, du Bulle der Völker. Du vertriebst das feindselige Volk und machtest für die Götter weiten Platz.
О Индра, ты родился для прекрасной власти,
Для силы, о бык народов.
Ты оттолкнул прочь враждующий (с нами) народ,
Ты создал богам широкий простор.
