ऋषिप्रजावान् प्राजापत्यः
देवतायजमानः

छन्दत्रिष्टुप्
अप॑श्यं त्वा॒ मन॑सा॒ चेकि॑तानं॒ तप॑सो जा॒तं तप॑सो॒ विभू॑तम् । इ॒ह प्र॒जामि॒ह र॒यिं ररा॑ण॒: प्र जा॑यस्व प्र॒जया॑ पुत्रकाम ॥
अप॑श्यम् । त्वा॒ । मन॑सा । चेकि॑तानम् । तप॑सः । जा॒तम् । तप॑सः । विऽभू॑तम् । इ॒ह । प्र॒ऽजाम् । इ॒ह । र॒यिम् । ररा॑णः । प्र । जा॒य॒स्व॒ । प्र॒ऽजया॑ । पु॒त्र॒ऽका॒म॒ ॥
हे यजमान त्वा त्वां मनसा बुद्यात अपश्यम् अदर्शम् । कीदृशम् । चेकितानं कर्माणि भृशं जानन्तं तपसः दीक्षारूपाद्व्रतात् जातं पुनरुत्पन्नं यद्वा जन्मान्तरानुष्ठितात्सुकृतादुत्पन्नं तपसः अनुष्ठीयमानाद्यज्ञाद्धेतोः विभूतं व्याप्तं सर्वत्र प्रख्यातम् । हे पुत्रकाम पुत्रान् कामयमान स त्वम् इह अस्मिल्ँलोके प्रजां पुत्रपौत्रादिरूपां रराणः रमयन् रयिं धनम् इह अस्मिल्ँलोके रमयन् प्रजया प्रजनेन प्र जायस्व पुत्रादिरूपेणोत्पद्यस्व । प्रजा उत्पादयेत्यर्थः ॥
“(The wife speaks). I beheld you in my mind conversant (with sacred rites), born of penance, renownedfor penance; enjoying in this world progeny and riches, do you who are desirous of offspring beget offspring.”
I SAW thee meditating in thy spirit what sprang from Fervour and hath thence developed.
Bestowing offspring here, bestowing riches, spread in thine offspring, thou who cravest children.
[Wife:] I saw you with my mind, as you became ever more cognizant with yours, you born from fervor, developed from fervor.
Bestowing progeny here, wealth here, progenerate yourself with progeny, o you who desire sons.
Ich sah dich, der im Geist du überlegtest, der du aus Tugend stammtest und erwuchsest, Drum schenke ich dir Kinderschar und Reichthum, in Kindern pflanz dich fort, o Kindbegehrer.
Ich sah dich im Geiste, wie du zur Einsicht gekommen bist, aus der Kasteiung neu geboren, durch Kasteiung erstarkt. Spende hier Nachkommenschaft, hier einen Schatz, pflanze dich mit Kindern fort, du Sohnwünschender!
Я видела тебя в мыслях, как ты прозрел,
(Вновь) родившийся от покаяния, окрепший от покаяния.
Здесь потомство, здесь богатство даруя,
Продолжись благодаря потомству, о желающий сына!

अप॑श्यं त्वा॒ मन॑सा॒ दीध्या॑नां॒ स्वायां॑ त॒नू ऋत्व्ये॒ नाध॑मानाम् । उप॒ मामु॒च्चा यु॑व॒तिर्ब॑भूया॒: प्र जा॑यस्व प्र॒जया॑ पुत्रकामे ॥
अप॑श्यम् । त्वा॒ । मन॑सा । दीध्या॑नाम् । स्वाया॑म् । त॒नू इति॑ । ऋत्व्ये॑ । नाध॑मानाम् । उप॑ । माम् । उ॒च्चा । यु॒व॒तिः । ब॒भू॒याः॒ । प्र । जा॒य॒स्व॒ । प्र॒ऽजया॑ । पु॒त्र॒ऽका॒म॒ ॥
हे पत्नि दीध्यानां दीप्यमानां स्वायाम् आत्मीयायां तनू तन्वां शरीरे ऋत्व्ये । ऋतु काले भवं गर्भधारणरूपं कर्म ऋत्वियम् । तस्मिन्निमित्तभूते नाधमानां भर्तुरुपगमनं याचमानां त्वा त्वां मनसा अपश्यम् अद्राक्षम् । हे पुत्रकामे पुत्रान् कामयमाने माम् उप मत्समीपं प्राप्य सा त्वम् उच्चा उच्चैर्भृशं युवतिः तरुणी बभूयाः भूयाः । छन्दस्युभयथा ' इत्याशीर्लिङः सार्वधातुकत्वाच्छप् । तस्य छान्दसः श्लुः । अलिढ्यपि व्यत्ययेन ‘ भवतेरः ' (पा. सू. ७. ४. ७३ ) इत्यभ्यासस्यात्वम् । युवतिर्भूत्वा च प्रजया प्रजनेन प्र जायस्व पुत्रान् प्रसूष्व । जनी प्रादुर्भावे। श्यनि ‘ ज्ञाजनोर्जा ' इति जादेशः ॥
“(The Yajamāna speaks). I behold you in my mind radiant (with beauty), beseeching (your husband'sapproach) to your body at due season; may you, who are youthful, come up to me; bear offspring, you who aredesirous of offspring.”
I saw thee pondering in thine heart, and praying that in due time thy body might be fruitful.
Come as a youthful woman, rise to meet me: spread in thine offspring, thou who cravest children.
[Husband:] I saw you with my mind, as you became ever more intent with yours, being in distress in your own body at your period.
Up here, near to me. You should become a young woman (again).
Progenerate yourself with progeny, o you lady desiring sons.
Ich sah dich, die im Geiste du erwogest, für deinen Leib die Fruchtbarkeit erflehend, Erhebe dich zu mir du Jugendfrische, in Kindern pflanz dich fort, o Kinderliebe.
Ich sah dich im Geiste, wie du nachsannest, wie du am eigenen Leibe zur Zeit der Regel littest. Komm herauf zu mir, du sollst wieder jung werden! Pflanze dich mit Kindern fort, du Sohnwünschende!
Я видел тебя в мыслях, как ты задумалась,
Как ты была угнетена из-за своего тела во время месячных.
При(ди) ко мне наверх! Пусть ты (снова) станешь юной!
Продолжись благодаря потомству, о желающая сына!

अ॒हं गर्भ॑मदधा॒मोष॑धीष्व॒हं विश्वे॑षु॒ भुव॑नेष्व॒न्तः । अ॒हं प्र॒जा अ॑जनयं पृथि॒व्याम॒हं जनि॑भ्यो अप॒रीषु॑ पु॒त्रान् ॥
अ॒हम् । गर्भ॑म् । अ॒द॒धा॒म् । ओष॑धीषु । अ॒हम् । विश्वे॑षु । भुव॑नेषु । अ॒न्तरिति॑ । अ॒हम् । प्र॒ऽजाः । अ॒ज॒न॒य॒म् । पृ॒थि॒व्याम् । अ॒हम् । जनि॑ऽभ्यः । अ॒प॒रीषु॑ पु॒त्रान् ॥
अहं होता ओषधीषु शाल्यादिषु फलार्थं गर्भमदधां धारयामि । विश्वेषु सर्वेष्वन्येष्वपि भुवनेषु भूतजातेषु अन्तः मध्ये अहम् एव गर्भं धारयामि । तथा पृथिव्यां भूम्यां प्रजाः सर्वान् मनुष्यान् अहम् अजनयं जनयामि। जनिभ्यः जायाभ्यः अपरीषु अन्यास्वपि स्त्रीषु पुत्रान् अहम् अजनयं जनयामि । मत्साध्येन यागेन सर्वस्योत्पत्तेरहं सर्वजननहेतुर्भवामीत्यर्थः ॥ ॥४१॥
“(The hotā speaks). I implant the seed in vegetables, the germ in all living beings; I engender progenyupon the earth; I beget children on other women.”
In plants and herbs, in all existent beings I have deposited the germ of increase.
All progeny on earth have I engendered, and sons in women who will be hereafter.
I placed the embryo in the plants, I within all creatures.
I generated progeny on earth, I (will generate) sons for wives in the
future.
Ich habe Frucht gesetzet in die Kräuter, ich habe Frucht gelegt in alle Wesen; Ich zeugte alle Keime in der Erde und Söhne in den Weibern, auch den künft'gen.
Ich habe den Keim in die Pflanzen gelegt, ich in alle Geschöpfe; ich erzeugte die Kinder auf Erden, ich erzeuge auch in Zukunft den Weibern Söhne!
Я вложил зародыш в растения,
Я во все существа.
Я породил потомков на земле.
Я буду пораждать (и) в будущем сыновей для женщин.
