ऋषिवामदेवो गौतमः

छन्दपदपङ्क्तिः
अग्ने॒ तम॒द्याश्वं॒ न स्तोमै॒: क्रतुं॒ न भ॒द्रं हृ॑दि॒स्पृश॑म् । ऋ॒ध्यामा॑ त॒ ओहै॑: ॥
अग्ने॑ । तम् । अ॒द्य । अश्व॑म् । न । स्तोमैः॑ । क्रतु॑म् । न । भ॒द्रम् । हृ॒दि॒ऽस्पृश॑म् । ऋ॒ध्याम॑ । ते॒ । ओहैः॑ ॥
हे अग्ने अद्य अस्मिन्नहनि वयमृत्विगादयः ओहैः इन्द्रादिप्रापकैः स्तोमैः स्तोत्रसमूहैः तं प्रसिद्धं ते त्वाम् ऋध्याम समर्धयामः । कीदृशं त्वाम् । अश्वं न वोढारमश्वमिव तथा हविषो वाहकं क्रतुं न कर्तारमिव । उपकर्तारमित्यर्थः । तथा भद्रं भजनीयं हृदिस्पृशं हृदयंगमम् । अतिशयेन प्रियमित्यर्थः ॥
“We celebrate you today, Agni, who are like a horse (in conveying our burden) with your praises, conveying (our wishes to the gods), and (who are) like a benefactor, propitious and affectionate.”
अग्ने॒ तम॒द्याश्वं॒ न स्तोमैः॒ क्रतुं॒ न भ॒द्रं हृ॑दि॒स्पृश॑म् ।
ऋ॒ध्यामा॑ त॒ ओहैः॑ ॥
1 O Agni! May we to-day successfully perform, with thy heedfulness 2, this praise 3 which touches thy heart, which is like a horse, like auspicious power of the mind.
Agni, this (sacrifice) today may we bring to success with lauds of you— like a horse with praises,
like a good resolve—(so that it) touches your heart.
Wir bringen heut' dir, – was Herz erquicket, – durch Lob, o Agni, Wie schöne Thatkraft, wie ein Ross mit Andacht.
Agni, dies Opfer möchten wir heute wie ein Roß durch Lobesworte zurechtbringen durch Lobreden auf dich, daß es zu Herzen gehe wie ein guter Rat.
О Агни, сегодня эту (жертву),
Словно коня – восхвалениями,
Словно благую – силу духа,
Чтобы она коснулась сердца, мы хотим донести до тебя с помощью восхвалений!
अधा॒ ह्य॑ग्ने॒ क्रतो॑र्भ॒द्रस्य॒ दक्ष॑स्य सा॒धोः । र॒थीॠ॒तस्य॑ बृह॒तो ब॒भूथ॑ ॥
अध॑ । हि । अ॒ग्ने॒ । क्रतोः॑ । भ॒द्रस्य॑ । दक्ष॑स्य । सा॒धोः । र॒थीः । ऋ॒तस्य॑ । बृ॒ह॒तः । ब॒भूथ॑ ॥
अधा हि इदानीमेव हे अग्ने त्वं क्रतोः अस्मदीयस्य यागस्य रथीः नेता बभूथ भवसि ॥ ‘ छन्दसि लुङ्लङ्लिटः' इति भवतेर्वर्तमानेऽर्थे लिटि सिपस्थल्। ‘ आर्धधातुकस्येड्वलादेः ' इतीडागमे प्राप्ते ' बभूथाततन्थ° ' इति निपातनादिडभावः ॥ कीदृशस्य यागस्य । भद्रस्य भजनीयस्य दक्षस्य प्रवृद्धस्य साधोः अभीष्टफलानां साधकस्य ऋतस्य सत्यभूतस्य बृहतः महतः ॥
“Be now the conveyer, Agni, of our auspicious, powerful, efficacious, truthful, and great sacrifice.”
For thou hast ever been the Car-driver, Agni, of noble
Strength, lofty sacrifice, and rightful judgment.
For verily thou, O Agni, hast become the charioteer of auspicious power of the mind, of real ability, and of the mighty Rita.
For, Agni, it is therefore that you have become the charioteer of good resolve,
of skill that brings success, of lofty truth.
Denn du, o Agni, – warst schöner Thatkraft, – gerechten Sinnes Und hehren Opfers Wagenlenker immer.
Denn darum bist du, Agni, der Lenker des guten Rats, des rechten Wollens, des hohen Gesetzes geworden.
Ведь ты, о Агни,
Для благой силы духа,
Для доброй силы действия
Для высокого закона (всегда) был колесничим.
ए॒भिर्नो॑ अ॒र्कैर्भवा॑ नो अ॒र्वाङ्स्व१॒॑र्ण ज्योति॑: । अग्ने॒ विश्वे॑भिः सु॒मना॒ अनी॑कैः ॥
ए॒भिः । नः॒ । अ॒र्कैः । भव॑ । नः॒ । अ॒र्वाङ् । स्वः॑ । ण । ज्योतिः॑ । अग्ने॑ । विश्वे॑भिः । सु॒ऽमनाः॑ । अनी॑कैः ॥
हे अग्ने ज्योतिः ज्योतिष्मान् स्वर्ण सूर्य इव तथा विश्वेभिः विश्वैः समस्तैः अनीकैः तेजोभिः सुमनाः शोभनमनस्कस्त्वं नः अस्मदीयैः एभिः एतैः '“अर्कैः अर्चनीयैः स्तोत्रैः नः अस्माकम् अर्वाङ् अभिमुखः भव ॥
“Agni, who like the sun are light, propitiated by these our hymns, come to our presence with all your hosts (of radiance).”
Through these our praises come thou to meet us, bright as the sunlight,
O Agni, well disposed, with all thine aspects.
Through these our hymns direct thyself hither-wards to us like the sun with its light 1, O Agni, gracious with all thy faces.
By reason of these recitations of ours become inclined our way like sunlight,
well disposed with all your faces, o Agni.
Durch diese Lieder – sei nah' uns immer, – wie Glanz des Himmels, Mit allen Flammen holdgesinnt uns immer.
Werde du durch diese Preislieder uns zugeneigt wie das Sonnenlicht und freundlich mit allen Gesichtern, o Agni!

Как свет солнца,

आ॒भिष्टे॑ अ॒द्य गी॒र्भिर्गृ॒णन्तोऽग्ने॒ दाशे॑म । प्र ते॑ दि॒वो न स्त॑नयन्ति॒ शुष्मा॑: ॥
आ॒भिः । ते॒ । अ॒द्य । गीः॒ऽभिः । गृ॒णन्तः॑ । अग्ने॑ । दाशे॑म । प्र । ते॒ । दि॒वः । न । स्त॒न॒य॒न्ति॒ । शुष्माः॑ ॥
अद्य अस्मिन् दिवसे हे अग्ने आभिः गीर्भिः स्तुतिरूपाभिर्वाग्भिः गृणन्तः त्वां स्तुवन्तो वयमृत्विगादयः ते तुभ्यं दाशेम हवींषि दद्याम'। दिवो न सूर्यस्य रश्मय इव ते त्वदीयाः शुष्माः शोधका ज्वालाः प्र स्तनयन्ति प्रकर्षेण शब्दायन्ते । यद्वा । दिवो न मेघा इव त्वदीया ज्वालाः शब्दायन्ते ॥
“Glorifying you, Agni, today, with these our praises, may we offer you (oblations); your (flames), bright as those of the sun, roar aloud.”
Now may we serve thee singing these lauds this day to thee, Agni.
Loud as the voice of Heaven thy blasts are roaring.
May we to-day worship thee, O Agni, praising thee with these songs. Thy roarings thunder like (the thunder) of Heaven.
Singing with these songs, we would do pious service for you today, o Agni.
Your gusts thunder forth like (those) of heaven.
Mit diesen Liedern – dir singend heute – sind wir zu Dienst dir; Dein Rauschen tönt wie Himmelsdonner, Agni
Mit diesen Lobesworten preisend wollen wir dich heute beschenken, o Agni. Deine Wutausbrüche donnern wie die des Himmels.

तव॒ स्वादि॒ष्ठाग्ने॒ संदृ॑ष्टिरि॒दा चि॒दह्न॑ इ॒दा चि॑द॒क्तोः । श्रि॒ये रु॒क्मो न रो॑चत उपा॒के ॥
तव॑ । स्वादि॑ष्ठा । अग्ने॑ । सम्ऽदृ॑ष्टिः । इ॒दा । चि॒त् । अह्नः॑ । इ॒दा । चि॒त् । अ॒क्तोः । श्रि॒ये । रु॒क्मः । न । रो॒च॒ते॒ । उ॒पा॒के ॥
हे अग्ने स्वादिष्ठा स्वादुतमा प्रियतमा तव त्वदीया संदृष्टिः दीप्तिः अह्नः इदा चित् दिवसस्येदानीं च अक्तोः इदा चित् । अक्तुरिति रात्रिनाम ‘शर्वरी अक्तुः ऊर्म्या '(नि. १.७.४) इति रात्रिनामसु पाठात् । रात्रेरिदानीं च । अहोरात्र इत्यर्थः ॥ ‘ अञ्जू व्यक्तिम्रक्षणकान्तिगतिषु ' इत्यस्माद्धातोः ‘ किञ्च' इत्यौणादिकसूत्रेण तुप्रत्ययः तस्य किद्वद्भावश्च । तितुत्र' इतीट्प्रतिषेधः । ‘ अनिदिताम् । इत्युपधानकारलोपः । ‘ चोः कुः' इति कुत्वम् ॥ रुक्मो न अलंकार इव श्रिये पदार्थमाश्रयितुम् उपाके अन्तिके। उपाक इत्यन्तिकनाम ‘आके उपाके' (नि. २. १६. ७) इति तन्नामसु पाठात् । रोचते राजते ॥
“Your lovely radiance, Agni, whether by day or by night, shines upon (all objects) like an ornament (to give them) beauty.”
just at this time of the day and the night thy look is the sweetest .
It shineth near us even as gold for glory.
Thy sweetest aspect, O Agni, shines near us for glory's sake, now by day, now by night, like gold.
Your manifestation is the sweetest, Agni—now by day, now by night. For beauty it shines like a gold ornament in the nearness.
Es glänzt dein Lichtschein, – o Agni, lieblich, – auch heut am Tage, Wie Gold zum Schmucke strahlt er in der Nähe.
Dein Anblick, o Agni, ist der süßeste, sei es nun am Tage, sei es nun des Nachts. Herrlich leuchtet er wie Goldschmuck in der Nähe.

Самый сладостный,
Будь то днем,
Будь то ночью;
Для (проявления) красоты сверкает (он) вблизи, словно золотое украшение.
घृ॒तं न पू॒तं त॒नूर॑रे॒पाः शुचि॒ हिर॑ण्यम् । तत्ते॑ रु॒क्मो न रो॑चत स्वधावः ॥
घृ॒तम् । न । पू॒तम् । त॒नूः । अ॒रे॒पाः । शुचि॑ । हिर॑ण्यम् । तत् । ते॒ । रु॒क्मः । न । रो॒च॒त॒ । स्व॒धा॒ऽवः॒ ॥
हे स्वधावः । स्वधाशब्दोऽन्नवाची । अन्नवन्नग्ने पूतं शोधितं घृतं न आज्यमिव तनूः त्वदीया मूर्तिः अरेपाः पापरहिता भवति । शुचि शुद्धं हिरण्यं हितरमणीयं ते त्वदीयं तत् प्रसिद्धं तेजः रुक्मो न भूषणमिव रोचत रोचते भासते ॥
“Giver of sustenance, (Agni), your favour is free from fault, like clarified butter; your pure and golden lustre shines like an ornament.”
Spotless thy body, brilliant as gold, like clarified butter:
This gleams like gold on thee, O Self. dependent.
Like purified ghrita is thy stainless body; (it is) brilliant gold: that (body) of thine has shone 1, O self-dependent one, like gold.
Like purified ghee your body is spotless gleaming gold.
This (flame?) of yours shines like a gold ornament, autonomous one.
Wie helle Butter – wie reiner Körper – wie glänzend Gold auch, So strahlt dein Licht, o Herrlicher, wie Goldschmuck.
Wie geläutertes Schmalz, fleckenlos ist dein Leib, lauteres Gold; das leuchtet an dir wie Goldschmuck, du Freischaltender.
Очищено, словно жир,
Без пятен тело твое,
Чистое золото.
Оно сверкает у тебя, словно золотое украшение, о (бог,) следующий своему обычаю.
कृ॒तं चि॒द्धि ष्मा॒ सने॑मि॒ द्वेषोऽग्न॑ इ॒नोषि॒ मर्ता॑त् । इ॒त्था यज॑मानादृतावः ॥
कृ॒तम् । चि॒त् । हि । स्म॒ । सने॑मि । द्वेषः॑ । अग्ने॑ । इ॒नोषि॑ । मर्ता॑त् । इ॒त्था । यज॑मानात् । ऋ॒त॒ऽवः॒ ॥
हे ऋतावः सत्यवन् अग्ने कृतं चित् यजमानेन कृतमपि सनेमि चिरंतनम् । सनेमीति पुराणनाम ‘ सनेमि पूर्व्यम् ' (नि. ३. २७. ४ ) इति पुराणनामसु पाठात् । द्वेषः पापं मर्तात् मनुष्यात् यजमानात् इत्था सत्यम् । इत्थेति सत्यनामैतत् ' अद्धा इत्था ' ( नि. ३. १०. ५) इति तन्नामसु पाठात् । इनोषि हि स्म प्रेरयस्येव खलु । नाशयसीत्यर्थः ॥
“Truthful, Agni, verily you remove from the mortal who instrumental tutes (your) worship, whatever sin has been committed (by him) of old.”
All hate and mischief, yea, if committed, Agni, thou turnest,
Holy One, from the man who rightly worships.
For even a malice which one has committed, thou verily drivest away entirely, O righteous Agni, from the sacrificing mortal 1.
Because, o Agni, even a hateful act already committed you drive away, bag and baggage,
from the mortal who sacrifices just so, o truthful one,
Denn alle Feindschaft, – die je erwiesen, – vertreibst du, Agni Vom Sterblichen, der recht, o reiner, opfert.
Auch eine begangene Feindseligkeit nimmst du vollständig von dem Sterblichen weg, der also opfert, du rechttuender Agni.
Даже если уже совершен
Враждебный поступок, о Агни,
Ты полностью прогоняешь его от смертного,
Который так приносит жертвы, о (бог,) поддерживающий закон.
शि॒वा न॑: स॒ख्या सन्तु॑ भ्रा॒त्राग्ने॑ दे॒वेषु॑ यु॒ष्मे । सा नो॒ नाभि॒: सद॑ने॒ सस्मि॒न्नूध॑न् ॥
शि॒वा । नः॒ । स॒ख्या । सन्तु॑ । भ्रा॒त्रा । अग्ने॑ । दे॒वेषु॑ । यु॒ष्मे इति॑ । सा । नः॒ । नाभिः॑ । सद॑ने । सस्मि॑न् । ऊध॑म् ॥
हे अग्ने नः अस्मदीयानि सख्या सख्यानि सखित्वानि भ्रात्रा भ्रात्राणि भ्रातृसंबन्धीनि कर्माणि देवेषु द्योतमानेषु युष्मे युष्मासु ॥ ‘सुपां सुलुक्' इति सप्तमीबहुवचनस्य शेआदेशः ॥ शिवा शिवानि सन्तु मङ्गलानि भवन्तु । सा सखित्वभ्रातृकर्मसंततिः सदने देवानां स्थाने सस्मिन्नूधन् सर्वस्मिन् यज्ञे नः अस्माकं नाभिः बन्धनं भवति ॥ ॥ १० ॥ ॥ १ ॥
“May our friendly and fraternal attentions to your deities prove fortunate; for such (attentions shown) in every sacrifice (form) our security in the sphere (of the gods).”
Agni, with you Gods, prosperous be our friendships and kinships.
Be this our bond here by this place, thine al tar.
May our friendship, O Agni, our brotherhood with you, the gods, be blessed. This is our navel (i. e. relation) in our seat, in this udder 1.
Let our comradeship be propitious, our brotherhood, o Agni, (with respect) to you gods.
This navel [=Agni/sacrifice] of ours is in the same seat, at the same udder (with you).
Zum Heile sein wir – Genossen, Brüder – mit euch den Göttern, – Das sei uns Freundschaft hier im Sitz, am Busen.
Heilvoll soll unser Freundschaft, unsere Bruderschaft mit euch Göttern sein, o Agni. Dies ist unsere Verwandtschaft im Hause am gleichen Euter.
Да будут благоприятны наши
Дружеские союзы (и) братские отношения,
О Агни, с вами, богами!
Для нас это пуповина, (благодаря которой мы) в одном и том же месте (с вами), у одного вымени.
