ऋषिवामदेवो गौतमः

यस्त्वाम॑ग्न इ॒नध॑ते य॒तस्रु॒क्त्रिस्ते॒ अन्नं॑ कृ॒णव॒त्सस्मि॒न्नह॑न् । स सु द्यु॒म्नैर॒भ्य॑स्तु प्र॒सक्ष॒त्तव॒ क्रत्वा॑ जातवेदश्चिकि॒त्वान् ॥
यः । त्वाम् । अ॒ग्ने॒ । इ॒नध॑ते । य॒तऽस्रु॑क् । त्रिः । ते॒ । अन्न॑म् । कृ॒णव॑त् । सस्मि॑न् । अह॑न् । सः । सु । द्यु॒म्नैः । अ॒भि । अ॒स्तु॒ । प्र॒ऽसक्ष॑त् । तव॑ । क्रत्वा॑ । जा॒त॒ऽवे॒दः॒ । चि॒कि॒त्वान् ॥
हे अग्ने यतस्रुक् स्रुचा संबद्धः यः यजमानः त्वाम् इनधते दीप्तियुक्तं कुर्यात् । यः सस्मिन्नहन् सर्वस्मिन्नहनि ते तुभ्यं त्रिः त्रिवारं सवनत्रये अन्नं हविर्लक्षणमन्नं कृणवत् कुर्यात् । हे जातवेदः जातानां वेदितरग्ने तव तोषकेण क्रत्वा इन्धनादिहेतुना कर्मणा प्रसक्षत् प्रसहमानं त्वदीयं तेजः चिकित्वान् जानन् सः यजमानः द्युम्नैः धनैर्यशोभिर्वा सु अत्यन्तम् अभ्यस्तु शत्रून् अभिभवतु ॥
“May he who with uplifted ladle kindles you, and thrice every day presents to you the (sacrificial) food, knowing your glory, Jātavedas, to be invigorated by the act, surpass (all others) in riches.”
WHOSO enkindles thee, with lifted ladle, and thrice this day offiers thee food, O Agni,
May he excel, triumphant through thy splendours, wise through thy mental power, O Jatavedas.
May the man who holds the sacrificial ladle and kindles thee, O Agni, who thrice prepares food for thee on this day, victoriously overcome (his foes) through his lustre, wise through the power of thy mind, O Gâtavedas.
Whoever will kindle you, Agni, with his offering ladle extended, whoever will make food for you three times in the same day,
let him, victorious, be superior in heavenly brilliance in accordance with your purpose, o Jātavedas—he the observant one.
Wer, Agni, dich entflammt, den Löffel ausstreckt, dreimal dir Spende schafft an einem Tage, Der ragt hervor an schönem Gut, ist siegreich durch deine Kraft, ist weis', o Wesenkenner.
Wer dich, Agni, mit bereitgehaltenem Schmalzlöffel anzündet, dir dreimal am gleichen Tage Speise bereitet, der soll fein an Ruhmesglanz als siegreicher Meister überlegen sein, weise durch deine Einsicht, o Jatavedas.
Кто тебя зажигает, о Агни, (стоя) с протянутой жертвенной ложкой,
Трижды в один и тот же день готовит тебе пищу,
Пусть он мощно превосходит (всех) славными делами, победитель,
Благодаря твоей силе духа, о Джатаведас, (бог,) который понимает!

इ॒ध्मम् । यः । ते॒ । ज॒भर॑त् । श॒श्र॒मा॒णः । म॒हः । अ॒ग्ने॒ । अनी॑कम् । आ । स॒प॒र्यन् । सः । इ॒धा॒नः । प्रति॑ । दो॒षाम् । उ॒षस॑म् । पुष्य॑न् । र॒यिम् । स॒च॒ते॒ । घ्नन् । अ॒मित्रा॑न् ॥
हे अग्ने यः यजमानः ते तुभ्यम् इध्मं होमसाधनं समिज्जातं जभरत् आहरेत् ॥ ' हृञ् हरणे '। लिङर्थे लेट् । तस्य तिपः ‘ इतश्च लोपः' इति इकारलोपः । ‘ बहुलं छन्दसि ' इति शपः श्लुः । द्विर्वचनादिकार्यम् । ‘लेटोऽडाटौ ' इत्यडागमः । ‘ हृग्रहोर्भः ' इति भत्वम् ॥ शश्रमाणः इध्माद्याहरणे श्राम्यन् महः महतः तव आ अनीकम् । आकारश्चार्थे। तेजश्च सपर्यन् परिचरन् यो यजमानः दोषां प्रति रात्रिं लक्षीकृत्य उषसं प्रति उषःकालं च लक्षीकृत्य । कालद्वयेऽपीत्यर्थः । इधानः इन्धानस्त्वां दीप्तियुक्तं करोति पुष्यन् प्रजाभिः पशुभिश्च पुष्टः सन् सः यजमानः अमित्रान् शत्रून् घ्नन् हिंसन् रयिं धनं सचते सेवते । सर्वदा पश्वादिधनसमृद्धो भवतीत्यर्थः ॥
“He who, labouring diligently, brings you fuel, honouring, Agni, your great glory; he who kindles you in the evening and at dawn; he, prosperous and destroying his enemies, acquires riches.”
Whoso with toil and trouble brings thee fuel, serving the majesty of mighty Agni,
He, kindling thee at evening and at morning, prospers, and comes to wealth, and slays his foemen.
1 He who toiling brings fuel to thee, doing service to thy, the great (god's) face, O Agni, kindling thee at evening and at dawn—he prospers, obtains wealth, and destroys his enemies.
Whoever will labor to bring fuel to you, rendering service to the face of the great one, o Agni,
he, kindling (you) every evening, every dawn, follows along, thriving in his wealth, smashing his foes.
Wer emsig wirkend Brennholz dir herbeibringt, dein Angesicht, o Agni, hoch verehrend; Des Abends dich entzündend und des Morgens, der erntet dauernd Reichthum, schlägt die Feinde.
Wer dir Brennholz bringt, sich abmühend, indem er deine, des Großen, Erscheinung ehrt, o Agni, und zu jeder Nacht- und Morgenzeit dich entzündet, der gedeiht und kommt zu Reichtum und erschlägt die Feinde.
Кто носит тебе топливо, изнуряя себя,
Почитая лик могучего, о Агни,
Зажигая (тебя) каждую ночь и каждую утреннюю зарю,
Тот процветает, соединяется с богатством, убивает недругов.
अ॒ग्निरी॑शे बृह॒तः क्ष॒त्रिय॑स्या॒ग्निर्वाज॑स्य पर॒मस्य॑ रा॒यः । दधा॑ति॒ रत्नं॑ विध॒ते यवि॑ष्ठो॒ व्या॑नु॒षङ्मर्त्या॑य स्व॒धावा॑न् ॥
अ॒ग्निः । ई॒शे॒ । बृ॒ह॒तः । क्ष॒त्रिय॑स्य । अ॒ग्निः । वाज॑स्य । प॒र॒मस्य॑ । रा॒यः । दधा॑ति । रत्न॑म् । वि॒ध॒ते । यवि॑ष्ठः । वि । आ॒नु॒षक् । मर्त्या॑य । स्व॒धाऽवा॑न् ॥
अग्निः बृहतः महतः क्षत्रियस्य बलस्य ईशे ईश्वरः भवति ॥ वर्तमानेऽर्थे लिट् ॥ किंच अग्निः परमस्य उत्कृष्टस्य वाजस्य अन्नस्य रायः पश्वादेर्धनस्य चेशे। यविष्ठः युवतमः स्वधावान् अन्नवान् तेजस्वी वाग्निः विधते परिचरते । विधतिः परिचरणकर्मा' इति यास्कः । मर्त्याय मनुष्याय यजमानाय रत्नं रमणीयं धनम् आनुषक् अनुषक्तं वि दधाति करोति ॥
“Agni is the possessor of great strength of excellent food of riches, the young (of the gods); abounding in sustenance, he gives to the mortal who worships him precious (wealth) according to (his devotion).”
Agni is Master of sublime dominion, Agni is Lord of strength and lofty riches.
Straightway the self-reliant God, Most Youthful, gives treasures to the mortal who adores him.
Agni is master of mighty royal power 1; Agni (is master) of gain, of the highest wealth. He, the youngest, self-dependent (god) in the right way distributes treasures to the mortal worshipper.
Agni holds sway over lofty lordship, Agni over the prize, the highest wealth.
He apportions treasure in due order to the mortal who does honor (to him)—he the youngest, autonomous one.
Agni gebietet über grosse Herrschaft, und Agni über Speis' und schönsten Reichthum, Er gibt dem Frommen Schätze, er, der jüngste, und theilt sie aus dem Menschen nach Gefallen.
Agni gebeut über hohe Herrschermacht, Agni über den Siegerpreis, über den höchsten Reichtum. Er teilt dem huldigenden Sterblichen nach Gebühr Belohnung aus, der Jüngste, Freischaltende.
Агни имеет высокую власть,
Агни-награду, высшее богатство.
Он наделяет сокровищем почитателя (своего) по заслугам,
Смертного – самый юный (бог,) следующий своему обычаю.
यच्चि॒द्धि ते॑ पुरुष॒त्रा य॑वि॒ष्ठाचि॑त्तिभिश्चकृ॒मा कच्चि॒दाग॑: । कृ॒धी ष्व१॒॑स्माँ अदि॑ते॒रना॑गा॒न्व्येनां॑सि शिश्रथो॒ विष्व॑गग्ने ॥
यत् । चि॒त् । हि । ते॒ । पु॒रु॒ष॒ऽत्रा । य॒वि॒ष्ठ॒ । अचि॑त्तिऽभिः । च॒कृ॒म । कत् । चि॒त् । आगः॑ । कृ॒धि । सु । अ॒स्मान् । अदि॑तेः । अना॑गान् । वि । एनां॑सि । शि॒श्र॒थः॒ । विष्व॑क् । अ॒ग्ने॒ ॥
हे यविष्ठ युवतम अग्ने यच्चिद्धि यद्यपि खलु ते त्वदीयेषु पुरुषत्रा परिचारकेषु पुरुषेषु अचित्तिभिः अज्ञानैः कच्चिदागः किंचिदपि पापं वयं 'चकृम तथापि हे अग्ने अस्मान् अदितेः भूमेः अनागान् अनागसः पापरहितान् सु अत्यन्तं कृधि कुरु। हे अग्ने विष्वक् सर्वतो विद्यमानानि एनांसि अस्माभिः कृतानि पापानि वि शिश्रथः विश्लथय शिथिलीकुरु ॥
“If, young (of the gods), with the inconsiderateness common to men, we have ever committed any offence against you, make us free from the defects of earth efface entirely, Agni our offences.”
Most Youthful God, whatever sin, through folly, we here, as human beings, have committed,
In sight of Aditi make thou us sinless remit, entirely, Agni, our offences.
Whatever sin, O youngest (god), we have committed against thee in thoughtlessness, men as we are 1, make thou us sinless before Aditi; release us from (every) guilt on all sides, O Agni!
Whatever we have done to you, youngest one, in our human nature or through our heedless ways—whatever offense—
make us without offense through unbinding [/Aditi]: let loose our
transgressions in all directions, o Agni.
Und welches Unrecht wir nach Menschen Weise an dir verübt aus Unverstand, o jüngster, Davon mach rein uns vor der grossen Gottheit, verzeih uns Agni alle unsre Sünden.
Denn wenn wir auch, wie es unter Menschen vorkommt, aus Unkenntnis irgend ein Unrecht dir getan haben, du Jüngster, so mach uns fein vor Aditi frei von Schuld; erlaß uns gänzlich die Sünden, o Agni!
Если же, как это свойственно людям, о самый юный,
По неразумию мы допустили какую-нибудь ошибку в отношении тебя,
Сделай нас совсем безвинными перед Адити!
Отпусти нам грехи со всех сторон, о Агни!
म॒हश्चि॑दग्न॒ एन॑सो अ॒भीक॑ ऊ॒र्वाद्दे॒वाना॑मु॒त मर्त्या॑नाम् । मा ते॒ सखा॑य॒: सद॒मिद्रि॑षाम॒ यच्छा॑ तो॒काय॒ तन॑याय॒ शं योः ॥
म॒हः । चि॒त् । अ॒ग्ने॒ । एन॑सः । अ॒भीके॑ । ऊ॒र्वात् । दे॒वाना॑म् । उ॒त । मर्त्या॑नाम् । मा । ते॒ । सखा॑यः । सद॑म् । इत् । रि॒षा॒म॒ । यच्छ॑ । तो॒काय॑ । तन॑याय । शम् । योः ॥
हे अग्ने देवानाम् इन्द्रादीनाम् उत अपि च मर्त्यानां मनुष्याणाम् अभीके अन्तिके । अभीक इत्यन्तिकनामैतत् । अस्माभिर्यत्पापं कृतं महश्चित् महतोऽपि ऊर्वात् विस्तृतादस्मात् एनसः पापात् ते त्वदीयाः सखायः मित्रभूताः स्तोतारो वयं सदमित् सर्वदैव मा रिषाम मा हिंसिता भूम । हे अग्ने त्वं तोकाय पुत्राय तनयाय पौत्राय शं पापरूपोपद्रवाणां शान्तिं योः सुकृतोत्पादितं सुखं च यच्छ देहि ॥
“Let not us, Agni, who are your friends, ever suffer harm from any great or comprehensive offence against either gods or men; bestow forgiveness upon our sons and grandsons, the reward of what has been well done.”
Even in the presence of great sin, O Agni, free us from prison of the Gods or mortals.
Never may we who are thy friends be injured: grant health and strength unto our seed and offspring.
Even from great guilt, O Agni, from the prison of gods and of mortals—let us, thy friends, never be harmed; grant luck and weal to kith and kin.
(Release us) from even a great offense in close quarters, Agni, from the enclosure [=imprisoning] of gods and of mortals.
Let us, your comrades, never be harmed. Extend luck and lifetime to kith and kin.
Behüt uns Agni auch vor grossem Uebel, vor Kerkerschmach der Götter und der Menschen, Lass deine Freund' uns nimmer Schaden leiden und Heil und Segen schenke Kind und Enkeln.
Bewahre uns rechtzeitig auch vor großer Gewalttat, Agni, vor einem zweiten Urva der Götter und Sterblichen! Als deine Freunde sollten wir niemals Schaden erleiden. Gewähre Glück und Heil dem leiblichen Samen!
(Избавь нас,) о Агни, в решающую минуту даже от великого греха,
От заключения богов и смертных!
Да не потерпим мы, твои друзья, никогда ущерба!
Даруй счастье и благо детям и внукам!
यथा॑ ह॒ त्यद्व॑सवो गौ॒र्यं॑ चित्प॒दि षि॒ताममु॑ञ्चता यजत्राः । ए॒वो ष्व१॒॑स्मन्मु॑ञ्चता॒ व्यंह॒: प्र ता॑र्यग्ने प्रत॒रं न॒ आयु॑: ॥
यथा॑ । ह॒ । त्यत् । व॒स॒वः॒ । गौ॒र्य॑म् । चि॒त् । प॒दि । सि॒ताम् । अमु॑ञ्चत । य॒ज॒त्राः॒ । ए॒वो इति॑ । सु । अ॒स्मत् । मु॒ञ्च॒त॒ । वि । अंहः॑ । प्र । ता॒रि॒ । अ॒ग्ने॒ । प्र॒ऽत॒रम् । नः॒ । आयुः॑ ॥
यजत्राः यजनीयाः पूजार्हा हे वसवः निवासयितारः अग्नयः यूयं यथा ह यथैव त्यत् त्यां तां पदि पादे सितां बद्धां गौर्यं चित् गौरीं गामपि अमुञ्चत त्यक्तवन्तो भूयास्त । एवो एवमेव अस्मत् अस्मत्तः अंहः पापं सु अत्यन्तं वि मुञ्चत विमुक्तं कुरुत । बहुवचनं पूजार्थम् । हे अग्ने त्वया प्रतरं प्रवृद्धं नः अस्मदीयम् आयुः प्र तारि प्रवृद्धं क्रियताम् ॥ ॥ १२ ॥
“Adorable Vasus, in like manner as you have liberated the cow bound by the foot, so set us free entirely from sin; and may our existence, Agni, be prolonged.”
Even as ye here, Gods Excellent and Holy, have loosed the cow that by the foot was tethered,
So also set us free from this affliction long let our life, O Agni, be extended.
1 As you formerly have released, O Vasus, the buffalo cow bound by the foot, O worshipful gods, thus take away from us this distress. May, O Agni, our life be further prolonged.
Just as then you released the buffalo-cow bound by the foot, you good ones worthy of the sacrifice,
so release constraint from us. (Let) our lifetime be further
lengthened, Agni.
Wie einst ihr löstet die am Fuss verstrickte, die Büffelin, ehrwürd'ge ihr, o gute, So löst auch ab von uns jedwedes Drangsal; weit dehne aus sich, Agni, unser Leben.
Wie ihr Götter damals die Gaurikuh, die am Fuß gefesselt war, befreitet, ihr Opferwürdige, so löset fein von uns die Pein! Es werde unser Leben weiter verlängert, o Agni!
