ऋषिवामदेवो गौतमः

छन्दत्रिष्टुप्
त्वा यु॒जा तव॒ तत्सो॑म स॒ख्य इन्द्रो॑ अ॒पो मन॑वे स॒स्रुत॑स्कः । अह॒न्नहि॒मरि॑णात्स॒प्त सिन्धू॒नपा॑वृणो॒दपि॑हितेव॒ खानि॑ ॥
त्वा । यु॒जा । तव॑ । तत् । सो॒म॒ । स॒ख्ये । इन्द्रः॑ । अ॒पः । मन॑वे । स॒ऽस्रुतः॑ । क॒रिति॑ कः । अह॒न् । अहि॑म् । अरि॑णात् । स॒प्त । सिन्धू॑न् । अप॑ । अ॒वृ॒णो॒त् । अपि॑हिताऽइव । खानि॑ ॥
हे सोम तव स्वदीये तत् तस्मिन् सख्ये सखित्वे सति त्वा त्वया युजा सहायेन इन्द्रः सस्रुतः सरणशीलाः अपः वृष्टिलक्षणान्युदकानि मनवे मनुष्येभ्यः कः अकरोत् । किंच अहिं वृत्रमसुरम् अहन् हतवान् । सप्त सर्पणशीलाः सिन्धून् अपः अरिणात् प्रैरयत् । अपिहितेव अपिहितानीव वृत्रेण तिरोहितानि च । अत्रेवशब्दश्चार्थे । खानि स्रोतसां द्वाराणि अपावृणोत उद्घाटितवान् ॥
“Through that friendship, Soma, which has united you with your (friend) Indra, he has made the waters flow for man; he has slain Ahi; he has sent forth the seven rivers, and has opened the shut-up sources (of the streams).”
ALLIED with thee, in this thy friendship, Soma, Indra for man made waters flow together,
Slew Ahi, and sent forth the Seven Rivers, and opened as it were obstructed fountains.
With you as yokemate, o Soma, and in partnership with you, Indra made the waters flow for Manu.
He smashed the serpent; he let the seven rivers stream. He opened them up, like holes that had been covered over.
Mit dir vereint, o Soma, dir gesellet, liess Indra strömen Wasser für den Menschen; Er schlug die Schlang', ergoss die sieben Ströme, erschloss die Bahnen, die vom Feind verschlossnen.
Mit dir im Bunde, in deiner Genossenschaft, o Soma, ließ damals Indra für Manu die Gewässer zusammenströmen. Er erschlug den Drachen, ließ die sieben Ströme laufen und öffnete die Kanäle, die gleichsam gesperrt waren.
С тобою как с союзником, в дружбе с тобой, о Сома,
Индра сделал для человека (так,) что воды полились.
Он убил змея, пустил течь семь рек,
Раскрыл отверстия, которые были словно заперты.
त्वा यु॒जा नि खि॑द॒त्सूर्य॒स्येन्द्र॑श्च॒क्रं सह॑सा स॒द्य इ॑न्दो । अधि॒ ष्णुना॑ बृह॒ता वर्त॑मानं म॒हो द्रु॒हो अप॑ वि॒श्वायु॑ धायि ॥
त्वा । यु॒जा । नि । खि॒द॒त् । सूर्य॑स्य । इन्द्रः॑ । च॒क्रम् । सह॑सा । स॒द्यः । इ॒न्दो॒ इति॑ । अधि॑ । स्नुना॑ । बृ॒ह॒ता । वर्त॑मानम् । म॒हः । द्रु॒हः । अप॑ । वि॒श्वऽआ॑यु । धा॒यि॒ ॥
हे इन्दो सोम इन्द्रः सद्यः सपदि त्वा त्वया युजा सहायेन सूर्यस्य प्रेरकस्य सवितुः संवन्धिनः पूर्वं द्विचक्रस्य रथस्यैकं चक्रं सहसा अभिभावुकेन बलेन नि खिदत् आच्छिनत् । कीदृशम्। अधि उपरि स्नुना स्थितेन बृहता महता अन्तरिक्षेण वर्तमानम्। किंच मह: महतः प्रभूतस्य द्रुहः द्रोग्धुः सूर्यस्य संबन्धि विश्वायु सर्वतो गन्तृ चक्रम् अप धायि इन्द्रेणापाहारि ।
“With you, Soma, for his ally, Indra has quickly taken off by force the wheel of the chariot of the sun, abiding above with the vast and stationary (firmament); the everywhere going wheel (of the car) of the great oppressor has been taken away.”
Indu, with thee for his confederate, Indra swiftly with might pressed down the wheel of Surya.
What rolled, all life's support, on heaven's high summit was separated from the great oppressor.
With you as yokemate, o drop, Indra with his strength in a single day tore down the wheel of the Sun,
which was rolling along the lofty back (of heaven). A whole lifetime of great deceit was set aside.
Mit dir vereint, o Indu, drückte Indra der Sonne Rad mit Kraft hernieder eilig, Das weithin rollte auf dem hohen Gipfel, entzog des Lebens Kraft der grossen Hexe.
Mit dir im Bunde drückte Indra das Rad der Sonne sofort gewaltsam ein, o Saft, das auf dem hohen Himmelsrücken rollte. Die ganze Lebenzeit des großen Unholdes war zu Ende.
С тобою как с союзником Индра сдавил
Колесо солнца – с силой, сразу, о капля,
Катившееся по высокой спине (неба).
Отнят весь срок жизни у великого вредителя.
अह॒न्निन्द्रो॒ अद॑हद॒ग्निरि॑न्दो पु॒रा दस्यू॑न्म॒ध्यंदि॑नाद॒भीके॑ । दु॒र्गे दु॑रो॒णे क्रत्वा॒ न या॒तां पु॒रू स॒हस्रा॒ शर्वा॒ नि ब॑र्हीत् ॥
अह॑न् । इन्द्रः॑ । अद॑हत् । अ॒ग्निः । इ॒न्दो॒ इति॑ । पु॒रा । दम्यू॑न् । म॒ध्यन्दि॑नात् । अ॒भीके॑ । दुः॒ऽगे । दु॒रो॒णे । क्रत्वा॑ । न । या॒ताम् । पु॒रु । स॒हस्रा॑ । शर्वा॑ । नि । ब॒र्ही॒त् ॥
हे इन्दो सोम अभीके संग्रामे दस्यून् शत्रून् इन्द्रः अहन् अवधीत् । अग्निः कांश्चिच्छत्रून् अदहत् ददाह। कीदृशाविन्द्राग्नी। मध्यंदिनात् मध्याह्नात् पुरा पुरस्तात् पूर्वाह्णे तव पानात् लब्धबलाविति' शेषः। यातां गच्छतामसुराणां पुरु पुरूणि बहूनि सर्वा सर्वाणि निरवशेषाणि सहस्रा सहस्राण्यपरिमितानि नि बर्हीत् न्यबर्हीत् । इन्द्रोऽवधीत् । तत्र दृष्टान्तः । दुरोणे दुरवने रक्षितुमशक्ये दुर्गे दुरवगाहे देशे क्रत्वा न कर्मणा स्वकीयं कार्यमुद्दिश्य गच्छतः पथिकान् यथा धनलोलुपश्चोरो हन्ति तद्वत् ॥
“Indra has slain the Dasyus, Soma, in battle; Agni has consumed them before the noon; he (Indra) has destroyed the whole of many thosands, as (robbers are the destroyers of those) going upon (their own) business, in a difficult and dangerous (plural ce).”
Indra smote down, Agni consumed, O Indu, the Dasyus ere the noontide in the conflict.
Of those who gladly sought a hard-won dwelling he cast down many a thousand with his arrow.
Indra smashed and Agni burned the Dasyus before midday at the moment of confrontation, o drop.
With his missile he laid low many thousands of them, who were
travelling to the house of no exit [=grave] as if by their own intention.
Indra erschlug und Agni brannte nieder, o Indu, vor der Mittagszeit die Geister, Die zauberisch in Haus und Wildniss wandern; viel tausend traf davon er mit dem Pfeile.
Indra erschlug, Agni verbrannte noch vor Mittag die Dasyu´s, ihnen auf den Leib rückend, o Saft. Als wäre es nach der Absicht der in das gemiedene Haus Gehenden, so streckte er mit dem Geschoß die vielen Tausende nieder.
Убил Индра, спалил Агни, о капля,
Дасью еще до полудня в решающей схватке.
Много тысяч идущих словно по (своей) воле
В обитель, куда отправляются неохотно, он уложил выстрелом.
विश्व॑स्मात्सीमध॒माँ इ॑न्द्र॒ दस्यू॒न्विशो॒ दासी॑रकृणोरप्रश॒स्ताः । अबा॑धेथा॒ममृ॑णतं॒ नि शत्रू॒नवि॑न्देथा॒मप॑चितिं॒ वध॑त्रैः ॥
विश्व॑स्मात् । सी॒म् । अ॒ध॒मान् । इ॒न्द्र॒ । दस्यू॑न् । विशः॑ । दासीः॑ । अ॒कृ॒णोः॒ । अ॒प्र॒ऽश॒स्ताः । अबा॑धेथाम् । अमृ॑णतम् । नि । शत्रू॑न् । अवि॑न्देथाम् । अप॑ऽचितिम् । वध॑त्रैः ॥
हे इन्द्र त्वं सीम् एनान् दस्यून् विश्वस्मात् सर्वस्मात् गुणात् अधमान् हीनान् अकृणोः अकरोः । किंच दासीः कर्महीनाः विशः मानुषीः प्रजाः अप्रशस्ताः गर्हिता अकृणोः । हे इन्द्रासोमौ युवां शत्रून् अबाधेथाम् । नि अमृणतं नितरां हिंसितवन्तौ । अपि च वधत्रैः तेषां शत्रूणां प्रहारैः अपचितिं पूजां जनेभ्यः अविन्देथाम् अलभेथाम् ॥
“Indra, you have made these Dasyus devoid of all (good qualities); you have made the races without rites abject; may you, (Soma and Indra), repel (and) destroy (your) enemies; accept (our) homage for their destruction.”
Lower than all besides hast thou, O Indra, cast down the Dasyus, abject tribes of Dasas.
Ye drave away, ye put to death the foemen, and took great vengeance with your murdering weapons.
O Indra, you made the Dasyus the lowest of all and the Dāsa clans deprived of laud.
You two oppressed and crushed down your rivals and found requital with your deadly weapons.
Du Indra machtest niedriger als alles die Bösen, die verruf'nen Dämonstämme; Ihr beide stiesst hinab, erschlugt die Feinde, Vergeltung übtet ihr durch Todesstreiche.
Du, Indra, machtest, daß die Dasyu´s zu allerunterst stehen, du machtest die dasischen Stämme ehrlos. Ihr beide bedränget, zermalmtet die Feinde; mit den Waffen nahmet ihr Vergeltung.
(Ты сделал,) о Индра, дасью самыми низкими из всех,
Ты сделал племена даса бесславными.
Вы оба угнетали, разбивали врагов.
Вы нашли возмездие с помощью смертельного оружия.
ए॒वा स॒त्यं म॑घवाना यु॒वं तदिन्द्र॑श्च सोमो॒र्वमश्व्यं॒ गोः । आद॑र्दृत॒मपि॑हिता॒न्यश्ना॑ रिरि॒चथु॒: क्षाश्चि॑त्ततृदा॒ना ॥
ए॒व । स॒त्यम् । म॒घ॒वा॒ना॒ । यु॒वम् । तत् । इन्द्रः॑ । च॒ । सो॒म॒ । ऊ॒र्वम् । अश्व्य॑म् । गोः । आ । अ॒द॒र्दृ॒त॒म् । अपि॑ऽहितानि । अश्ना॑ । रि॒रि॒चथुः॑ । क्षाः । चि॒त् । त॒तृ॒दा॒ना ॥
हे सोम त्वं च इन्द्रश्च इति युवामुभौ ऊर्वं महान्तम् अश्व्यम् अश्वसमूहं गोः गवां समूहं च आदर्दृतम् आदरयतम् । अपिहितानि पणिभिराच्छादितानि गवां वृन्दानि क्षाश्चित् पणीनां
“Possessors of wealth, destroyers of foes, Indra and Soma, it is indeed true that you have distributed great numbers of horses, and of the cattle which had been concealed and the land which you had recovered by your strength.”
So, of a truth, Indra and Soma, Heroes, ye burst the stable of the kine and horses,
The stable which the bar or stone obstructed; and piercing through set free the habitations.
In just this way (did it come) true, o bounteous ones: you two, o Indra and Soma, kept pounding the horse-pen and that of the cow;
you gave leave to the things that were covered with the stone [=waters/ cows] (to flow), having drilled through even the places of the earth.
Das ist eur rechtes Werk, o mächt'ge beide, den Stall der Ross und Rinder, Indra-Soma, Und das vom Fels verschlossne brachet auf ihr, und machtet frei die Stätten, sie erschliessend.
So ist es wahr, ihr Freigebige. Indra und Soma, ihr habt damals das Roß- und Rinderversteck erbrochen und die mit einem Stein verschlossenen Schätze freigegeben wie die aufgebrochene Erde.
Такова истина, о щедрые. Тогда вы оба,
О Индра и Сома, взломали укрытие с конями
И коровами, выпустили наружу (сокровища),
Придавленные камнем, словно вскрытая земля.
