ऋषिवामदेवो गौतमः

छन्दगायत्री
प्रति॒ ष्या सू॒नरी॒ जनी॑ व्यु॒च्छन्ती॒ परि॒ स्वसु॑: । दि॒वो अ॑दर्शि दुहि॒ता ॥
प्रति॑ । स्या । सू॒नरी॑ । जनी॑ । वि॒ऽउ॒च्छन्ती॑ । परि॑ । स्वसुः॑ । दि॒वः । अ॒द॒र्शि॒ । दु॒हि॒ता ॥
स्या सो संस्तूयमाना सूनरी सुष्ठु प्राणिनां नेत्री जनी जनयित्री फलानां स्वसुः स्वसृस्थानीयाया रात्रेः परि उपरिभागे रात्रिपर्यवसानकाले व्युच्छन्ती तमो विवासयन्ती । स्वसा स्वस्रे ज्यायस्यै' (ऋ. सं. १. १२४. ८ ) इत्युक्तम् । दिवः द्योतमानस्यादित्यस्य दुहिता उषाः प्रति अदर्शि प्रतिदृश्यते सर्वैः ॥
“The daughter of heaven has been seen; the kind conductress (of men), the parent (of benefits) shedding radiance upon (the departure of her) sister nighṭ ”
THIS Lady, giver of delight, after her Sister shining forth, Daughter of Heaven, hath shown herself.-
This spirited lady, dawning forth from her sister [=Night],
has appeared opposite—the daughter of Heaven.
Hier diese wonnigliche Maid, aufleuchtend von der Schwester her, Des Himmels Tochter zeigte sich.
Die edle Frau ist dort aus ihrer Schwester aufleuchtend erschienen, des Himmels Tochter.

Зажигаясь из (недр своей) сестры,
Появилась (нам) навстречу, дочь неба.
अश्वे॑व चि॒त्रारु॑षी मा॒ता गवा॑मृ॒ताव॑री । सखा॑भूद॒श्विनो॑रु॒षाः ॥
अश्वा॑ऽइव । चि॒त्रा । अरु॑षी । मा॒ता । गवा॑म् । ऋ॒तऽव॑री । सखा॑ । अ॒भू॒त् । अ॒श्विनोः॑ । उ॒षाः ॥
अश्वेव चित्रा चायनीया अरुषी रोचमाना गवां रश्मीनां माता निर्मात्री ऋतावरी यज्ञवती उषाः अश्विनोः सखा समानख्याना सह स्तूयमाना अभूत् भवति । अश्विनोः उषसा सह स्तूयमानत्वात् सखित्वं परस्परम् ॥
“Like a beautiful mare, the radiant mother of the rays of light, the object of sacrifice, (she) is the friend of the Aśvins.”
Unfailing, Mother of the Kine, in colour like a bright red mare,
The Dawn became the Asvins' Friend.
Dappled bright and ruddy like a mare, the mother of cows, follower of truth, Dawn has become the companion of the Aśvins.
Der Ritter Freundin glänzendroth ward Uschas, einer Stute gleich, Der Kühe heil'ge Mutter sie.
Buntfarbig, rötlich wie eine Stute, die zeitige Mutter der Kühe, ist Usas die Freundin der Asvin geworden.
Сверкающая, рыжая, словно кобылица,
Мать коров, соблюдающая закон,
Ушас стала подругой Ашвинов.
उ॒त सखा॑स्य॒श्विनो॑रु॒त मा॒ता गवा॑मसि । उ॒तोषो॒ वस्व॑ ईशिषे ॥
उ॒त । सखा॑ । अ॒सि॒ । अ॒श्विनोः॑ । उ॒त । मा॒ता । गवा॑म् । अ॒सि॒ । उ॒त । उ॒षः॒ । वस्वः॑ । ई॒शि॒षे॒ ॥
उत अपि च अश्विनोः सखा असि। उत अपि च गवां रश्मीनां माता असि । उत अपि च हे उषः वस्वः धनस्य ईंशिषे ईश्वरा भवसि ॥
“You are the friend of the Aśvins; you are the mother of the rays of light; you, Uṣas, rule over riches.”
Yea, and thou art the Asvins' Friend, the Mother of the Kine art thou:
O Dawn thou rulest over wealth.
You are both the companion of the Aśvins, and you are also mother of cows,
and also, Dawn, you have dominion over goods.
Der Ritter Freundin bist du ja, und bist der Kühe Mutter auch, Und Reichthum hast du, Morgenroth.
Du bist die Freundin der Asvin und auch die Mutter der Kühe, und du gebeutst über das Gut, o Usas.
Ты и подруга Ашвинов,
Ты и мать коров,
Ты также владеешь добром, о Ушас.
या॒व॒यद्द्वे॑षसं त्वा चिकि॒त्वित्सू॑नृतावरि । प्रति॒ स्तोमै॑रभुत्स्महि ॥
या॒व॒यत्ऽद्वे॑षसम् । त्वा॒ । चि॒कि॒त्वित् । सू॒नृ॒ता॒ऽव॒रि॒ । प्रति॑ । स्तोमैः॑ । अ॒भु॒त्स्म॒हि॒ ॥
यावयद्द्वेषसम् । यवयन्तो वियुज्यमाना द्वेषांसि द्वेष्टारो यस्यास्तादृशी । पृथक्क्रियन्ते द्वेषांस्यनयेति वा । रात्रौ हननायोद्युक्ता द्वेषिण उषःकाले हि पलायन्ते । तादृशीं चिकित्वित् ज्ञापयन्तीं त्वा त्वां सूनृतावरि । सूनृतेति वाङ्नाम । तद्वति देवि स्तोमैः स्तुतिभिः प्रति अभुत्स्महि प्रतिबोधयामः । स्तुम इत्यर्थः ॥
“With praises we awaken you, you who are endowed with truth; you, baffler of animosities, the restorer of consciousness.”
Thinking of thee, O joyous One, as her who driveth hate away,
We woke to meet thee with our lauds.
With awareness of you, in response to you, who keep away hatred, o liberal-spirited one,
we have awakened with praises.
Die du die Feindeschar verjagst, Dich weckten wir durch Lobgesang, O wonnereiche andachtsvoll.
Wir haben dich, die du Anfeindungen abwehrst, aufmerksam mit Lobliedern heran-gewacht, du Großmütige.
Навстречу тебе, прогоняющей враждебность,
Мы чутко пробудились
С восхвалениями, о богатая милостями.
प्रति॑ भ॒द्रा अ॑दृक्षत॒ गवां॒ सर्गा॒ न र॒श्मय॑: । ओषा अ॑प्रा उ॒रु ज्रय॑: ॥
प्रति॑ । भ॒द्राः । अ॒दृ॒क्ष॒त॒ । गवा॑म् । सर्गाः॑ । न । र॒श्मयः॑ । आ । उ॒षाः । अ॒प्राः॒ । उ॒रु । ज्रयः॑ ॥
भद्राः स्तुत्याः रश्मयः प्रति अदृक्षत प्रतिदृश्यन्ते । गवाम् उदकानां सर्गा न वर्षधारा इवेयम् उषाः उरु ज्रयः महत्तेजः आ अप्राः आपूरयत् ॥
“The auspicious rays are visible like showers of rain, the dawn has filled (the world) with ample light.”
Our eyes behold thy blessed rays like troops of cattle loosed to feed.
Dawn hath filled full the wide expanse.
Her auspicious rays have appeared opposite, like gushes of cows.
Dawn has filled up the wide expanse.
Der Uschas schönes Strahlenheer erschien den Rinderheerden gleich; Sie füllte an den weiten Raum.
Ihre glückbringenden Strahlen sind erschienen gleich Schwärmen von Kühen. Usas hat die weite Bahn angefüllt.
Словно стадо выпущенных коров,
Показались лучи, приносящие счастье.
Ушас заполнила (собой) широкий путь.
आ॒प॒प्रुषी॑ विभावरि॒ व्या॑व॒र्ज्योति॑षा॒ तम॑: । उषो॒ अनु॑ स्व॒धाम॑व ॥
आ॒प॒प्रुषी॑ । वि॒भा॒ऽव॒रि॒ । वि । आ॒वः॒ । ज्योति॑षा । तमः॑ । उषः॑ । अनु॑ । स्व॒धाम् । अ॒व॒ ॥
हे विभावरि विभावति उषः त्वम् आपप्रुषी आपूरयन्ती तेजसा जगत् ज्योतिषा तेजसा तमः अन्धकारं व्यावः व्यावृणोः । किंच अनु पश्चात् स्वधां हविर्लक्षणमन्नम् अव रक्ष ॥
“Brilliant Uṣas, filling (the world with light), you disperse the darkness with radiance; thereafter protect the oblation.”
When thou hast filled it, Fulgent One! thou layest bare the gloom with light.
After thy nature aid us, Dawn.
Having filled it up, wide-radiant one, you have uncovered the darkness with your light.
O Dawn, help (us) according to your independent power.
Erfüllend ihn erschlossest du durch Licht die Nacht, o strahlende; Nun folg, o Uschas, deinem Brauch.
Indem du sie anfüllst, du Strahlende, hast du durch dein Licht das Dunkel aufgedeckt. Usas, sei nach eigenem Ermessen gnädig!
Заполняя (его), о ярко сверкающая,
Светом ты раскрыла мрак.
О Ушас, помоги (нам) по своему желанию!
आ द्यां त॑नोषि र॒श्मिभि॒रान्तरि॑क्षमु॒रु प्रि॒यम् । उष॑: शु॒क्रेण॑ शो॒चिषा॑ ॥
आ । द्याम् । त॒नो॒षि॒ । र॒श्मिऽभिः॑ । आ । अ॒न्तरि॑क्षम् । उ॒रु । प्रि॒यम् । उषः॑ । शु॒क्रेण॑ । शो॒चिषा॑ ॥
हे उषः रश्मिभिः द्यां दिवम् आ तनोषि । उरु विस्तीर्णं प्रियम् अन्तरिक्षं रश्मिभिः आ तनोषि । शुक्रेण दीप्तेन शोचिषा प्रकाशेन युक्ता सती एवं करोषि ॥ ॥ ३ ॥
“You overspread, Uṣas, the heaven with rays, as well as the vast and beloved firmament with pure lustre.”
Thou overspreadest heaven with rays, the dear wide region of mid-air.
With thy bright shining lustre, Dawn.
Through heaven do you stretch with your rays, through the midspace wide and dear,
o Dawn, with your bright brilliance.
Den Himmel füllst mit Strahlen du, und auch die liebe weite Luft, O Morgenroth, mit hellem Glanz.
Du durchziehst den Himmel mit Strahlen, den weiten lieben Luftraum, o Usas, mit deinem hellen Feuerschein.
Ты пронизываешь небо (своими) лучами,
Широкое славное воздушное пространство,
О Ушас, чистым пламенем.
