ऋषिवामदेवो गौतमः
देवताक्षेत्रपतिः

छन्दअनुष्टुप्
क्षेत्र॑स्य॒ पति॑ना व॒यं हि॒तेने॑व जयामसि । गामश्वं॑ पोषयि॒त्न्वा स नो॑ मृळाती॒दृशे॑ ॥
क्षेत्र॑स्य । पति॑ना । व॒यम् । हि॒तेन॑ऽइव । ज॒या॒म॒सि॒ । गाम् । अस्व॑म् । पो॒ष॒यि॒त्नु । आ । सः । नः॒ । मृ॒ळा॒ति॒ । ई॒दृशे॑ ॥
वयं यजमानाः क्षेत्रस्य पतिना देवेन ॥ रुद्रं क्षेत्रपतिं प्राहुः केचिदग्निमथापरे । स्वतन्त्र एव वा कश्चित्क्षेत्रस्य पतिरुच्यते ॥ हितेनेव । इव शब्द एवार्थे । सर्वप्राणिहितेनैव तेन । अथवा मित्रेणेव । यथा सख्युः साहाय्ये सन् स्वकार्यं साधयति तद्वत् । जयामसि । जयामः क्षेत्रम् । स देवः गामश्वं च पोषयित्नु पोषयितृ गवाश्वलक्षणं धनम् आ हरत्विति शेषः । उपसर्गश्रुतेर्योग्यक्रियाध्याहारः । सः एव देवः नः अस्मान् ईदृशे उक्तलक्षणे धने दातव्ये सति मृळाति सुखयति । क्षेत्रस्य पतिना' ( निरु. १०. १५ ) इत्यादिनिरुक्तं जानीयात् ॥
“With the master of the field, our friend, we triumph; may he bestow upon us cattle, horses, nourishment, for by such (gifts) he makes us happy.”
WE through the Master of the Field, even as through a friend, obtain
What nourisheth our kine and steeds. In such may he be good to us.
By the lord of the field
As by a friend may we win
What nourishes our kine and horses;
May he be [2] favourable to such as we are.
By means of the Lord of the Field as if by a concluded (alliance), may we win
what prospers the cow, the horse. He will be gracious to one such as us.
Wir mögen durch den Feldesherrn, wie durch einen lieben Freund, Rind und Ross, und was uns nährt, erlangen; er sei hold solchen, wie wir sind.
Durch den Herrn der Flur gewinnen wir wie durch einen guten Freund eine Flur, die Rind und Roß nährt. Möge er unsereinem gnädig sein.
Благодаря господину Поля,
Как с помощью доброго (друга) мы покоряем (Поле),
Кормящее скотину (и) коней.
Да смилуется он над таким, как мы!
क्षेत्र॑स्य पते॒ मधु॑मन्तमू॒र्मिं धे॒नुरि॑व॒ पयो॑ अ॒स्मासु॑ धुक्ष्व । म॒धु॒श्चुतं॑ घृ॒तमि॑व॒ सुपू॑तमृ॒तस्य॑ न॒: पत॑यो मृळयन्तु ॥
क्षेत्र॑स्य । प॒ते॒ । मधु॑ऽमन्तम् । ऊ॒र्मिम् । धे॒नुःऽइ॑व । पयः॑ । अ॒स्मासु॑ । धु॒क्ष्व॒ । म॒धु॒ऽश्चुत॑म् । घृ॒तम्ऽइ॑व । सुऽपू॑तम् । ऋ॒तस्य॑ । नः॒ । पत॑यः । मृ॒ळ॒य॒न्तु॒ ॥
हे क्षेत्रस्य पते त्वं मधुमन्तं माधुर्योपेतम् ऊर्मिं प्रवृद्धम् उदकं धेनुः पयः इव सा यया दुग्धे तथा अस्मासु धुक्ष्व । 'मधुश्चुतं मधुस्रावि सुपूर्तं घृतमिव इत्युपमा । तादृशमुदकमित्यर्थः । ऋतस्य यज्ञस्योदकस्य वा पतयः स्वामिनः नः अस्मान् मृळयन्तु सुखयन्तु । यद्वा । ऋतस्य एतत् कर्मणि षष्ठी । ऋतं मृळयन्तु प्रयच्छन्तु । मृळतिरत्र दानकर्मा ॥
“Lord of the field, bestow upon us sweet abundant, (water), as the cow (yields her) milk, dropping like honey, blend as butter; may the lords of the water make us happy.”
As the cow yieldeth milk, pour for us freely, Lord of the Field, the wave that beareth sweetness,
Distilling meath, well-purified like butter, and let the. Lords of holy Law be gracious.
O Lord of the Field, as a milk-cow yields milk, milk out upon us a honeyed wave,
dripping with honey, well-purified like ghee. Let the lords of truth be gracious to us.
Feldesherr, lass uns die süsse Welle reichlich strömen, so wie Milch die Milchkuh, wie schöngeklärte Butter, die von Süssigkeit trieft; uns mögen die Herren des heiligen Werkes hold sein.
Herr der Flur! Ergieß bei uns deine honigreiche Woge wie die Kuh ihre Milch, die honigträufende, wie Schmalz gutgeläuterte. Mögen die Herren des Gesetzes uns gnädig sein.
О господин Поля, подоись у нас
Медовой волной, словно корова – молоком,
(Волной,) сочащейся медом, прекрасно очищенной, словно жир.
Да смилуются над нами господа закона!
मधु॑मती॒रोष॑धी॒र्द्याव॒ आपो॒ मधु॑मन्नो भवत्व॒न्तरि॑क्षम् । क्षेत्र॑स्य॒ पति॒र्मधु॑मान्नो अ॒स्त्वरि॑ष्यन्तो॒ अन्वे॑नं चरेम ॥
मधु॑ऽमतीः । ओष॑धीः । द्यावः॑ । आपः॑ । मधु॑ऽमत् । नः॒ । भ॒व॒तु॒ । अ॒न्तरि॑क्षम् । क्षेत्र॑स्य । पतिः॑ । मधु॑ऽमान् । नः॒ । अ॒स्तु॒ । अरि॑ष्यन्तः॑ । अनु॑ । ए॒न॒म् । च॒रे॒म॒ ॥
ओषधीः ओषध्यो व्रीहिप्रियङ्वादयः नः अस्मभ्यं मधुमतीः मधुमत्यः भवन्तु । तथा द्यावः । तिस्रो दिव इत्युक्तत्वात् बहुवचनं युक्तम् । तथा आपः अन्तरिक्षं च नः मधुमत् भवतु । किंच क्षेत्रस्य पतिः अपि मधुमान्नो अस्तु । अरिष्यन्तः अन्यैरहिंस्यन्तो वयम् एनं क्षेत्रपतिम् अनु अनुसृत्य चरेम संचरेम सुखेन ॥
“May the herbs (of the field) be sweet for us; may the heavens, the waters, the firmament, be kind to us; may the lord of the field be gracious to us; let us, undeterred (by foes), have recourse to him.”
Sweet be the plants for us. the heavens, the waters, and full of sweets for us be air's mid-region.
May the Field's Lord for us be full of sweetness, and may we follow after him uninjured.
Honeyed the plants, the heavens, the waters—honeyed let the midspace be for us.
Let the Lord of the Field be honeyed for us. Without suffering harm may we follow after him.
Süss mögen uns sein die Gewächse, Himmel, Gewässer, voll Süssigkeit sei uns der Lufti-aum, der Feldesherr sei uns voll süsser Labe, und ungehindert mögen wir ihm nachgehn.
Honigreich sollen die Pflanzen, die Himmel, die Gewässer sein, honigreich soll die Luft für uns sein. Der Herr der Flur soll uns honigreich sein. Ohne Schaden zu nehmen möchten wir seiner Spur folgen.
Да будут нам медовыми растения,
Небеса, воды, медовым – воздух!
Господин Поля да будет нам медовым!
Невредимые хотим мы двигаться за ним вслед!
शु॒नं वा॒हाः शु॒नं नर॑: शु॒नं कृ॑षतु॒ लाङ्ग॑लम् । शु॒नं व॑र॒त्रा ब॑ध्यन्तां शु॒नमष्ट्रा॒मुदि॑ङ्गय ॥
शु॒नम् । वा॒हाः । शु॒नम् । नरः॑ । शु॒नम् । कृ॒ष॒तु॒ । लाङ्ग॑लम् । शु॒नम् । व॒र॒त्राः । ब॒ध्य॒न्ता॒म् । शु॒नम् । अष्ट्रा॑म् । उत् । इ॒ङ्ग॒य॒ ॥
वाहाः बलीवर्दाः शुनम् । सुखनामैतत् । सुखं यथा भवति तथा वहन्त्विति शेषः । तथा नरः नेतारो मनुष्याः कर्षकाः शुनं कुर्वन्तु । तथा लाङ्गलम् अपि शुनं कृषतु । वरत्राः वरणेन त्रायमाणाः प्रग्रहाः शुनं बध्यन्ताम् । अष्ट्रां प्रतोदं शुनम् उदिङ्गय प्रेरय । शुनाख्यो वाय्विन्द्रयोरन्यतमः सुखकृद्देवः । तदनुग्रहादेतत्सर्वं भवत्विति तस्य श्रुतिसामान्येन स्तुतिः ॥
“May the oxen (draw) happily, the men (labour) happily; the plural ugh furrows happily; may the traces bind happily; wield the goad happily.”
Happily work our steers and men, may the plough furrow happily.
Happily be the traces bound; happily may he ply the goad.
Prosperity (be) the draft-animals, prosperity the superior men; for prosperity let the plow till.
For prosperity let the straps be bound; for prosperity brandish the goad.
Zum Gedeihn seien die Zugstiere, zum Gedcihn die Männer, zum Gedeihen pflüge der Pflug; zum Gedeihn seien die Sielen geschirrt, zum Gedeihen zücke den Ochsenstachel.
Zum Glück seien die Zugtiere, zum Glück die Männer. Zum Glück soll der Pflug die Furche ziehen. Zum Glück sollen die Riemen befestigt werden. Zum Glück schwinge die Gerte!
На счастье (пусть будут) тягловые животные, на счастье - мужи!
На счастье пусть пашет плуг!
На счастье пусть завязываются ремни!
На счастье помахивай стрекалом!
शुना॑सीरावि॒मां वाचं॑ जुषेथां॒ यद्दि॒वि च॒क्रथु॒: पय॑: । तेने॒मामुप॑ सिञ्चतम् ॥
शुना॑सीरौ । इ॒माम् । वाच॑म् । जु॒षे॒था॒म् । यत् । दि॒वि । च॒क्रथुः॑ । पयः॑ । तेन॑ । इ॒माम् । उप॑ । सि॒ञ्च॒त॒म् ॥
‘ द्युदेवः शुनदेवता ' इति शौनकः । अतः शुन इन्द्रः सीरो वायुः । ‘ शुनो वायुः शु एत्यन्तरिक्षे सीर आदित्यः सरणात् ' (निरु. ९. ४० ) इति यास्कः । हे शुनासीरौ तौ युवाम् इमां वक्ष्यमाणां मदीयां वाचं जुषेथाम् । यत् पयः दिवि चक्रथुः तेनेमां भूमिम् उ सिञ्चतम् ॥
“Śuna and Sīra be plural ased by this our praise, and consequently sprinkle this (earth) with the water which you have reated in heaven.”
Suna and Sira, welcome ye this laud, and with the milk which ye have made in heaven
Bedew ye both this earth of ours.
O Prosperity and Plow, take pleasure in this speech here. When you have made milk in heaven,
with it besprinkle this (earth) here.
Pflug und Lenker, nehmt dieses Lied huldvoll an; mit der Milch, die ihr am Himmel schafft, mit der benetzet dieses [Land].
Suna und Sira! Habt an dieser Rede Gefallen! Das Naß, das ihr im Himmel bereitet habt, mit dem besprengt diese Erde!
О Шуна и Сира, наслаждайтесь этой речью!
Та влага, которую вы создали на небе, –
Оросите ею эту (землю)!
अ॒र्वाची॑ सुभगे भव॒ सीते॒ वन्दा॑महे त्वा । यथा॑ नः सु॒भगास॑सि॒ यथा॑ नः सु॒फलास॑सि ॥
अ॒र्वाची॑ । सु॒ऽभ॒गे॒ । भ॒व॒ । सीते॑ । वन्दा॑महे । त्वा॒ । यथा॑ । नः॒ । सु॒ऽभगा॑ । अस॑सि । यथा॑ । नः॒ । सु॒फला॑ । अस॑सि ॥
हे सुभगे सीते त्वम् अर्वाची अर्वागञ्चना भव । त्वा त्वां वन्दामहे स्तुवीमहि । यथा नः सुभगाससि शोभनधना भवसि । यथा नः सुफलाससि तथा वन्दामहे ॥
“Auspicious Sītā, be present, we glorify you; that you may be propitious to us, that you may yield us abundant fruit.”
Auspicious Sita, come thou near: we venerate and worship thee
That thou mayst bless and prosper us and bring us fruits abundantly.
Become inclined our way, well-portioned Furrow. We will extol you, so that you will be well-portioned for us, so that you will be well-fruited for us.
reiche Furche, sei du uns nahe, wir verehren dich, damit du uns segensreich, damit du uns fruchtreich seiest.
Sei geneigt, du holde Furche; wir loben dich, auf daß du uns hold seiest; auf daß du uns gute Frucht bringest.
Приблизься к нам, о борозда,
Приносящая счастье! Мы хотим славить тебя,
Чтоб была для вас приносящей счастье,
Чтоб была ты для нас очень плодородной!
इन्द्र॒: सीतां॒ नि गृ॑ह्णातु॒ तां पू॒षानु॑ यच्छतु । सा न॒: पय॑स्वती दुहा॒मुत्त॑रामुत्तरां॒ समा॑म् ॥
इन्द्रः॑ । सीता॑म् । नि । गृ॒ह्णा॒तु॒ । ताम् । पू॒षा । अनु॑ । य॒च्छ॒तु॒ । सा । नः॒ । पय॑स्वती । दु॒हा॒म् । उत्त॑राम्ऽउत्तराम् । समा॑म् ॥
इन्द्रः देवः सीतां सीताधारकाष्ठं नि गृह्णातु । तां सीतां पूषा देवः अनु यच्छतु नियमयतु । सा द्यौः पयस्वती उदकवती" दुहां दुह्यात् । कदेति तदुच्यते। उत्तरामुत्तरां समाम् उत्तरमुत्तरं संवत्सरम् ॥
“May Indra take hold of Sītā; may Pūṣan guide her; may she, well stored with water, yield it as milk, year after year.”
May Indra press the furrow down, may Pusan guide its course aright.
May she, as rich in milk, be drained for us through each succeeding year.
Let Indra lay down the Furrow; let Pūṣan extend her straight.
Let her, full of milk, yield milk to us, summer after summer.
Es möge Indra in die Furche hineingreifen, die Richtung gebe ihr Puschan; sie möge uns nahrungsreich strömen in jedem Jahr, das folgen mag.
Indra soll die Ackerfurche festlegen, Pusan soll sie einhalten. Sie soll uns milchreich auch jedes weitere Jahr Milch geben.
Индра пусть вдавит борозду!
Пушан пусть направит ее!
Богатая молоком, пусть доится она для нас
Каждый следующий год!

शु॒नम् । नः॒ । फालाः॑ । वि । कृ॒ष॒न्तु॒ । भूमि॑म् । शु॒नम् । की॒नाशाः॑ । अ॒भि । य॒न्तु॒ । वा॒हैः । शु॒नम् । प॒र्जन्यः॑ । मधु॑ना । पयः॑ऽभिः । शुना॑सीरा । शु॒नम् । अ॒स्मासु॑ । ध॒त्त॒म् ॥
नः भूमिं फालाः भूमिविदारककाष्ठाः शुनं वि कृषन्तु । शुनं यथा भवति तथा कीनाशाः बलीवर्दरक्षकाः वाहैः बलीवर्दैः अभि यन्तु अभिगच्छन्तु । शुनं यथा भवति तथा पर्जन्यो मधुना मधुरैः पयोभिः उदकैः सिञ्चतु । हे शुनासीरा इन्द्रवायू वाय्वादित्यौ वा शुनं सुखम् अस्मासु धत्तं धारयतम् ॥ ॥ ९ ॥
“May the plural ugh shares break up our land happily; may the plural ughman go happily with the oxen; may Parjanya (water the earth) with sweet showers happily; grant, Śuna and Sīra, prosperity to us.”
Happily let the shares turn up the ploughland, happily go the ploughers with the oxen.
With meath and milk Parjanya make us happy. Grant us prosperity, Suna and Sira.
For prosperity let our plowshares till through the earth; for prosperity let our plowmen advance with their draft-animals.
Prosperity (let) Parjanya (be) with his honey and milk drinks. O
Prosperity and Plow, place prosperity in us.
Zum Gedeihn möge die Pflugschar das Land durchpflügen, zum Gedeihen die Pflliger schreiten mit den Zugstieren; zum Gedeihen ströme die Wetterwolke mit Milch und Honig; Gedeihen gebt uns beide, o Pflug und Lenker.
Zum Glück sollen unsere Pflugscharen die Erde umpflügen, zum Glück die Pflüger mit ihren Zugtieren kommen. Glück soll Parjanya durch Honig und Milch bringen; Glück bringet uns, Suna und Sira!
На счастье наши лемехи пусть взрезают землю!
На счастье пусть выйдут пахари с тягловыми животными!
На счастье Парджанья (пусть оросит) медом (и) молоком!
О Шуна и Сира, дайте нам счастье!
