ऋषिधरुण आङ्गिरसः
देवताअग्निः

छन्दत्रिष्टुप्
प्र᳓ वेध᳓से कव᳓ये वे᳓दियाय
गि᳓रम् भरे यश᳓से पूर्विया᳓य
घृत᳓प्रसत्तो अ᳓सुरः सुशे᳓वो
रायो᳓ धर्ता᳓ धरु᳓णो व᳓स्वो अग्निः᳓
यः अग्निः घृतप्रसत्तः हवीरूपेण घृतेन प्रसन्नः असुरः बलवान् सुशेवः । शोभनं शेवं सुखं यस्यासौ सुशेवः । शेवमिति सुखनामसु पाठात् । रायः धनस्य धर्ता पोषकः धरुणः हविषां धारकः वस्वः वासकः अग्निः भवति वेधसे विधात्रे कवये क्रान्तदृशे वेद्याय स्तुत्याय ॥ विदिरयं मनिना समानार्थो मनिश्च स्तुतिकर्मा ॥ यशसे यशस्विने पूर्व्याय मुख्याय तस्मा अग्नये गिरं स्तुतिं प्र भरे प्रणयानि ॥
To him, the far-renowned, the wise Ordainer, ancient and glorious, a song I offer.
Enthroned in oil, the Asura, bliss-giver, is Agni, firm support of noble, riches.
I bring a prayer to the worshipper, the renowned sage, the glorious, ancient one. Agni is the highly gracious Asura, taking his seat in ghrita, the holder of wealth, supporting goods.
I bring forth my song to the ritual master and poet worth finding, to the glorious ancient one.
Seated in ghee is the very kind lord, the supporter of wealth, the support of goods, Agni.
Dem weisen Ordner, ihm, dem allbekannten, bring' ich ein Lied, dem herrlichen, dem alten; Der holde Gott, der Butter sich zum Sitz nimmt, des Reichthums Hort, des Gutes Schirm ist Agni.
Dem kundbaren Meister und Seher trage ich eine Rede vor, der wie früher in Ehren steht. Im Schmalz sitzend, der freundliche Asura, der Träger des Reichtums, der Erhalter des Gutes ist Agni.
Я приношу хвалебную песнь устроителю (обряда),
Поэту, о котором все должны знать, несущему славу, древнему.
Сидящий среди жира, очень милый Асура,
Носитель богатства, поддерживатель добра – таков Агни.
ऋते᳓न र्तं᳓ धरु᳓णं धारयन्त
यज्ञ᳓स्य शाके᳓ परमे᳓ वि᳓ओमन्
दिवो᳓ ध᳓र्मन् धरु᳓णे सेदु᳓षो नॄ᳓ञ्
जातइ᳓र् अ᳓जाताँ अभि᳓ ये᳓ ननक्षुः᳓
ये यजमानाः दिवः द्युलोकस्य धरुणे धारके धर्मन् यज्ञे सेदुषः आसीनान् नॄन् नेतॄन् अजातान देवान जातैः मनुष्यैर्ऋत्विग्भि अभि ननक्षुः अभिप्राप्नुवन्ति ते यजमानाः यज्ञस्य धरुणं धारकम् ऋतं सत्यरूपमग्निं शाके कर्मणि निमित्ते परमे उत्कृष्टे व्योमन् स्थाने उत्तरवेद्याम् ऋतेन स्तोत्रेण धारयन्त धारयन्ति ॥
By holy Law they kept supporting Order, by help of sacrifice, in loftiest heaven,-
They who attained with born men to the unborn, men seated on that stay, heaven's firm sustainer.
By Rita they have supported the supporting Rita, near the powerful (performer) 1 of sacrifice, in highest heaven, the men who sit 2 on the supporting support of the sky, and who with born (men) attained to the unborn.
By truth they [=the priests] support truth, the support, on the powerful (support) of the sacrifice in the highest heaven,
and (support) the superior men [=the gods], who have sat down on the support at the foundation of heaven—they who have attained the ones unborn by those born.
Durch Heil'ges stützen sie den heil'gen Stützer im Werk des Opfers in dem höchsten Himmel, Gehn durch Geborne zu den Ungebornen, die an des Himmels fester Stütze sitzen.
Durch die Wahrheit gründeten sie die Wahrheit als Grundlage auf die Macht des Opfers im höchsten Himmel, die mit den geborenen Söhnen zu den ungeborenen in der Ordnung des Himmels auf festem Grunde sitzenden Herrn gelangt sind.
С помощью закона закон основали они как основу (мироздания),
Чтобы помочь жертве на высшем небосводе,
(Те,) что достигли вместе с рожденными нерожденных -
Мужей, сидящих в основе неба, в основании (закона).
अंहोयु᳓वस् तनु᳓वस् तन्वते वि᳓
व᳓यो मह᳓द् दुष्ट᳓रम् पूर्विया᳓य
स᳓ संव᳓तो न᳓वजातस् तुतुर्यात्
सिंहं᳓ न᳓ क्रुद्ध᳓म् अभि᳓तः प᳓रि ष्ठुः
ये यजमानाः पूर्व्याय मुख्यायास्मा अग्नये महत् अधिकं दुष्टरं राक्षसैर्दुष्प्रापं वयः हवीरूपमन्नं प्रयच्छन्ति ते यजमानाः तन्वः स्वास्तनूः अंहोयुवः अंहसा वियोजिकाः वि तन्वते विस्तारयन्ति । नवजातः सः अग्निः संवतः संगतान् शत्रून् तुतुर्यात् तरतु । किंच अभितः सर्वतो वर्तमानाः शत्रवो मां परि वर्जयित्वा स्थुः तिष्ठेयुः । कथमिव । मृगाः क्रुद्धं सिंहं न सिंहमिव ॥
Averting woe, they labour hard to bring him, the ancient, plenteous food as power resistless.
May he, born newly, conquer his assailants: round him they stand as round an angry lion.
Dispelling anguish 1 they spread out for the ancient one 2 his bodies 3, mighty vital power, difficult to overcome. May he, the new-born, traverse the spaces. They have stood round him as round an angry lion.
They stretch out the bodies (of Agni), which keep away confinement, and great vitality, hard to surpass, for the ancient one.
Though newly born, he would cross the boundaries (of the fireplace), but all around they hem him in, who is like a raging lion.
Die Dränger dehnen ihre eignen Leiber und grosse Kraft, dem alten unbezwinglich, Der neugeborne wird die Scharen zwingen; sie stehn im Kreise um den grimmen Löwen.
Des Nothelfers Leiber breiten sich aus; große unüberwindliche Kraft ist ihm wie früher. Der Neugeborene würde die Schranken überschreiten. Wie einen zornigen Löwen umstellen sie ihn ringsum.
Они протягивают тела, избавляющие от беды, –
Великую неодолимую жизненную силу для древнего (бога).
Да пересечет этот новорожденный стороны (света)!
Они окружили его со всех сторон, словно разгневанного льва.
माते᳓व य᳓द् भ᳓रसे पप्रथानो᳓
ज᳓नं-जनं धा᳓यसे च᳓क्षसे च
व᳓यो-वयो जरसे य᳓द् द᳓धानः
प᳓रि त्म᳓ना वि᳓षुरूपो जिगासि
पप्रथानः सर्वत्र प्रथमानः यत् यस्त्वं मातेव जननीव जनंजनं सर्वं जनं भरसे बिभर्षि । किंच धायसे धारणाय चक्षसे दर्शनाय च सर्वैः प्रार्थ्यसे । यत् यदा दधानः धार्यमाणो भवसि तदा वयोवयः सर्वमन्नं जरसे जरयसि । अपि च विषुरूपः नानारूपः सन् त्मना आत्मना परि जिगासि सर्वभूतानि परिगच्छसि ॥
When, like a mother, spreading forth to nourish, to cherish and regard each man that liveth,-
Consuming all the strength that thou hast gotten, thou wanderest round, thyself,
in varied fashion.
When thou carriest, spreading out, man after man like a mother, for their nourishment and for their sight, when thou growest old 1 assuming life after life, thou goest around by thyself in manifold shapes.
When, spreading, like a mother you carry more and more peoples to be suckled and to see,
and when *you awaken, acquiring more and more vitality, you go all around with varying forms in your single person.
Wenn schwanger du wie eine Mutter alle Geschlechter trägst und säugst und auf sie hinblickst, So rauschest du, die Kraft, die dein ist, gebend, und gehst umher dann mannichfach gestaltet.
Wenn du, dich ausbreitend, jedermann wie eine Mutter hegst, daß er sich labe und sehe, wenn du immer neue Lebenskraft dir zulegend erwachst, so machst du selbst in verschiedener Gestalt deinen Umlauf.
Когда распространившись, ты заботишься, словно мать,
О каждом человеке, чтобы он подкреплялся и видел (свет),
Когда ты бодрствуешь, набираясь все новой и новой жизненной силы,
Меняя облик, ты сам движешься кругом.
वा᳓जो नु᳓ ते श᳓वसस् पातु अ᳓न्तम्
उरुं᳓ दो᳓घं धरु᳓णं देव रायः᳓
पदं᳓ न᳓ तायु᳓र् गु᳓हा द᳓धानो
महो᳓ राये᳓ चित᳓यन्न् अ᳓त्रिम् अस्पः
हे देव द्योतमानाग्ने उरुं पृथुं दोघं कामानां दोग्धारं रायः धनस्य धरुणं धारकं वाजः हविर्लक्षणमन्नं ते त्वदीयस्य शवसः बलस्य अन्तं समाप्तिं संपूर्तिं नु अद्य पातु रक्षतु । तायुः न तस्करो यथा गुहा गुहायां पदं द्रव्यं दधानः धारयन् रक्षति तद्वत् महः महते राये धनाय धनलाभार्थं चितयन् सन्मार्गं प्रकाशयन् अत्रिमस्पः । अत्रिमृषिमप्रीणयः । यद्वा तमापद्योन्ऽपारयः४॥ ‘ स्पृ प्रीणनपारणयोः' इति धातुः ॥ ॥ ७ ॥
May strength preserve the compass of thy vigour, God! that broad stream of thine that beareth riches.
Thou, like a thief who keeps his refuge secret, hast holpen Atri to great wealth, by teaching.
May gain protect now the boundaries of thy strength, the wide, firmly supporting milkstream 1 of wealth, O god! Putting down thy foot in secret like a thief 2, thou hast enlightened and freed Atri for the sake of wealth mightily 3.
Now let the prize of victory protect the limit of your strength as you give as your milk broad support for wealth.
Hiding your track like a thief, then appearing greatly for wealth, you have rescued Atri.
Der Krafttrunk schirme deiner Stärke Umfang, des Reichthums weiten Grund, o Gott, zu melken; Den Fuss ins Dunkel setzend gleich dem Diebe, zu hohem Gut erstrahlend halfst du Atri'n.
Nun möge die Stärkung das Ende deiner Kraft bewahren, indem sie einen breiten Milchstrom, der der Träger des Reichtums ist, ergießt, o Gott. Der du wie ein Dieb deine Spur verbirgst, du hast jetzt zu großem Reichtum dich offenbarend dem Atri aus der Not herausgeholfen.
Пусть же сейчас награда сохранит предел твоей силы,
Широкий поток молока, основу богатства, о бог!
Словно вор, скрывая (свой) след,
Ты спас Атри, мощно напоминая (ему) о богатстве.
