ऋषिवव्रिरात्रेयः

छन्दगायत्री
अभ्य् अ᳡वस्थाः᳓ प्र᳓ जायन्ते
प्र᳓ वव्रे᳓र् वव्रि᳓श् चिकेत
उप᳓स्थे मातु᳓र् वि᳓ चष्टे
वव्रेः ऋषेः अभि उत्तरोत्तरम् अवस्थाः अशोभना दशाः प्र जायन्ते । तादृशीः वव्रिः हविषां संभक्ता सोऽग्निः प्र चिकेत प्रजानीयात् । ज्ञात्वा चापनयत्विति भावः । योऽग्निः मातुः पृथिव्याः उपस्थे समीपे स्थितं पदार्थजातं वि चष्टे पश्यति ॥
ONE state begets another state: husk is made visible from husk:
Within his Mother's side he speaks.
They are born for retirement 1. Out of the cover he 2 has shone forth, being a cover himself. In the lap of the mother he looks about 3.
His low appearances [=low flames] are born forth. From the covering (of wood) a covering (of smoke) has become visible.
He gazes out in the lap of his mother [=the lower churning stick].
Des Weibes Geschlechtstheile gebären ihn, aus dem Leibe kam er als Leib ans Licht, er wird erblickt in der Mutter Schooss. [Wohl Agni's Geburt.]
Die anderen Umstände kommen zur Geburt. Sein Leib schimmert aus ihrem Leib hervor. Im Schoße der Mutter lugt er aus.
Рождаются (нам) навстречу (разные) состояния (Агни).
(Одна) оболочка появляется из (другой) оболочки.
Он показывается в лоне матери.
जुहुरे᳓ वि᳓ चित᳓यन्तो
अ᳓निमिषं नृम्ण᳓म् पान्ति
आ᳓ दॄळ्हा᳓म्+ पु᳓रं विविशुः
ये वि चितयन्तः तव प्रभावं जानन्तो जनाः अनिमिषं सर्वदा जुहुरे जुहुविरे यज्ञार्थं त्वामाह्वयन्ति, आहूय च नृम्णं तव बलं हविर्भिः स्तोत्रैश्च पान्ति रक्षन्ति ते दृळ्हां शत्रुभिः साधयितुमशक्यां पुरं पुरीम् आ विविशुः प्रविशन्ति । ‘ शतं पूर्भिरायसीभिर्नि पाहि' ( ऋ. सं. ७. ३. ७) इति निगमः ॥
Discerning, have they offered gifts: they guard the strength that never wastes.
To a strong fort have they pressed in.
Causing him to discern (the pious and the impious?), they have sacrificed. With unwinking eyes they protect his manly power. They have penetrated into the firm stronghold 1.
Attentive, they [=the priests] have poured various offerings.
Unblinkingly, they protect his manly power.
They have entered into the firm fortress.
Die glänzenden [Soma's] ergossen sich und schützen wachsam seine Kraft, sie drangen in die feste Burg [wol Indra].
Aufmerksam haben sie verschiedene Opfer gebracht; ohne die Augen zu schließen bewachen sie seine Kraft. Sie sind in die feste Burg eingezogen.
Сосредоточенно они принесли разные жертвы.
Не смыкая глаз, охраняют они (его) мужественность.
Они проникли в твердую крепость.
आ᳓ श्वैत्रेय᳓स्य जन्त᳓वो
द्युम᳓द् वर्धन्त कृष्ट᳓यः
निष्क᳓ग्रीवो बृह᳓दुक्थ
एना᳓ म᳓ध्वा न᳓ वाजयुः᳓
जायन्त इति जन्तवः । कृष्टयः मनुष्या ऋत्विजः मध्वा न मधुनेव एना एनया स्तुत्या । यद्वा नकारश्चार्थे । मधुना च श्वैत्रेयस्य । श्वित्रमन्तरिक्षम् । तत्र भवस्य वैद्युतस्याग्नेः द्युमत् दीप्तिमत् बलम् आ वर्धन्त अभिवर्धयन्ति । किंविधाः कृष्टयः । निष्कग्रीवः निष्केण सुवर्णेनालंकृतग्रीवाः ॥ व्यत्ययेनैकवचनम् ॥ बृहदुक्थः बृहत्स्तोत्राः वाजयुः अन्नकामाः ॥
Svaitreya's people, all his men, have gloriously increased in might.
A gold chain Brhaduktha wears, as, through this Soma, seeking spoil.
The people of Svaitreya 1, his clans, have thriven brilliantly. Brihaduktha with a golden ornament at his neck, is eager for the race as if by this honey-drink 2.
The kin of Śvaitreya have grown strong brilliantly, as have their peoples. With ornamented neck, Br̥haduktha (is) seeking the prize with this
(honey) [=soma?], like (a prize-seeking horse) with honey.
Die Leute des Qvitrasohnes, die Völker mögen herrlich gedeihen; er, der Goldschmuck am Halse trägt, der lautgepriesene, sei reich an Beute wie durch diesen süssen Trank [der Sohn der (^ Vitra scheint auch hier 'gemeint, und nicht Agni].
Die Abkömmlinge des Svaitreya kehren heim; die Stämme wachsen glänzend. Brihaduktha mit dem Goldschmuck am Hals ist durch diesen Met wie ein siegbegehrender Renner.
Потомки Швайтрейи,
Народы блистательно процветают.
Брихадуктха с золотым украшением на шее
Благодаря этому меду, словно (скакун,) жаждущий награды.
प्रियं᳓ दुग्धं᳓ न᳓ का᳓मियम्
अ᳓जामि जामियोः᳓ स᳓चा
घर्मो᳓ न᳓ वा᳓जजठरो
अ᳓दब्धः श᳓श्वतो द᳓भः
जाम्योः द्यावापृथिव्योः सचा सहायभूतोऽग्निः दुग्धं न पय इव काम्यं कमनीयम् अजामि दोषरहितं प्रियम् अस्मदीयं स्तोत्रं शृणोतु । किंविधोऽग्निः । घर्मो न प्रवर्ग्य इव वाजजठरः । वाजोऽन्नं जठरे यस्य सः । घर्मो यथा हव्येनाज्येन पयसासिक्तो वाजजठरस्तद्वत् । हविर्जठर इत्यर्थः । अदब्धः शत्रुभिः स्वयमहिंसितः शश्वतः शाश्वतो नित्यः दभः शत्रूणां हिंसकः ॥
I bring, as 'twere, the longed-for milk, the dear milk of the Sister-Pair.
Like to a caldron filled with food is he, unconquered, conquering all.
Like the dear milk of love 1—(a thing) unrelated with two (things) related 2—like the gharma vessel with booty in its belly—undeceived, the deceiver of all 3.
(His semen) dear like the milk of desire, (his act) unkindred (incest) with two [=fire-churning sticks] that are kin,
like the vessel of hot milk in whose belly is the prize, (he is) the
undeceivable deceiver of every one.

Lieb wie die Milch ist die brünstige Besamung, die unter Geschwistern unerlaubt ist. Wie der Milchtopf trägt er Stärkung im Leibe, unbeschädigt, der Beschädiger vieler.
(Агни) – словно приятное надоенное (парное молоко),
Любовное (объятие), неподобающее для брата и сестры,
(Он) – словно котелок с молоком, таящий в животе жертвенную пищу,
Невредимый, вредящий любому другому.
क्री᳓ळन् नो रश्म आ᳓ भुवः
स᳓म् भ᳓स्मना वायु᳓ना वे᳓विदानः
ता᳓ अस्य सन् धृष᳓जो न᳓ तिग्माः᳓
सु᳓संशिता वक्षि᳓यो वक्षणेस्थाः᳓
हे 'रश्मे रश्मिमन्नग्ने क्रीळन् वनेषु क्रीडन् भस्मना स्वकार्येण भसितेन वायुना प्रेरकेण मरुता च सं वेविदानः सम्यक् ज्ञायमानस्त्वं नः अस्माकम् आ भुवः । अभिमुखो भव । वक्षणेस्थाः वक्षणे वह्नौ स्थिताः वक्ष्यः । हविर्वहन्तीति वक्ष्यो ज्वालाः । सुसंशिताः सुतीक्ष्णाः धृषजः शत्रूणां धर्षिकाः ताः ज्वालाः अस्य यजमानस्य मम न तिग्माः न तीक्ष्णाः सन् सन्तु ॥ अस्तेर्लेटि रूपम् ॥ ॥ ११ ॥
Beam of light, come to us in sportive fashion, finding thyself close to the wind that fans thee.
These flames of his are wasting flames, like arrows keen-pointed, sharpened, on his breast.
Sporting, O beam of light, appear to us, joined with the ash, with the wind. May those well sharpened … of his, standing on …, be sharp like… 1.
Playing, o ray of light, you are here for us, ever finding yourself in alliance with the biting Wind.
Hurl those well-sharpened flames, like daring warriors their sharp
(weapons), o you who stand in the belly [=fire pit].
Munter hüpfend, o Strahl, sei uns hülfreich, dich mischend mit dem verzehrenden Winde; diese seine Flammen seien scharf wie kühne Helden, die wohlgeschärften, die sich auf dem fahrenden [Agni?] befinden.
Spielend, o Strahl, mögest du uns beistehen, dich mit dem schnaubenden Winde vereinigend. Diese seine ......... Flammen mögen spitzig wie ........., wohl geschärft sein.
Играя, о луч, будь нам помощником,
Соединяясь с колючим ветром!
Швыряй, (о Агни,) эти острые (языки пламени), словно храбрые (воины -)
Хорошо отточенные (копья)!
