छन्दत्रिष्टुप्
त्वा᳓म् अग्ने व᳓सुपतिव्ँ व᳓सूनाम्
अभि᳓ प्र᳓ मन्दे+++(=स्तौमि)+++ अध्वरे᳓षु +++(हविर्दाहेन)+++ राजन् ।
त्व᳓या वा᳓जं वाजय᳓न्तो जयेम+
अभि᳓ ष्याम पृत्+++(=युद्ध)+++-सुती᳓र् म᳓र्त्यानाम् ॥
हे अग्ने वसूनां वसुपतिम् । वृत्त्यवृत्तिभ्यां वसूनां बाहुल्यं तत्स्वामित्वं चोक्तम् । बहूनां धनानां स्वामिनं त्वाम् अध्वरेषु यागेषु अभि प्र मन्दे आभिमुख्येन स्तौमि हे राजन् । किंच त्वया अनुकूलेन वाजयन्तः अन्नमिच्छन्तो वयं वाजं जयेम । किंच मर्त्यानां मरणधर्मकाणां पृत्सुतीः सेनाः अभि ष्याम अभिभवेम ॥
O AGNI, King and Lord of wealth and treasures, in thee is my delight at sacrifices.
Through thee may we obtain the strength we long for, and overcome the fierce attacks of mortals.
Thee, O Agni, the treasure-lord of treasures, I gladden at the sacrifices, O king! May we, striving for gain, conquer gain through thee; may we overcome the hostilities of mortals.
Thou, O Agni, riches-lord of riches,
I hail [2], O lord in the sacrifices;
Through thee in strife may we be victorious;
May we overcome the hostilities of mortal men.
In you, o Agni, goods-lord of goods, I find elation at the rites, o king. Through you we would win victory’s prize, racing to the prize. We would prevail against the battle-charges of mortals.
O Agni dich, den Güterherrn der Güter, erfreue ich, o König, bei den Festen, Lass beutelust'ge uns erringen Beute, bewält'gen uns der Menschen wilden Andrang.
Zu dir, Agni, pilgere ich, zu dem Herrn der Schätze, du König über die Opfer. Mit dir wollen wir als Preiskämpfer den Preis gewinnen und die Angriffe der Sterblichen bestehen.
О Агни, при виде тебя, господина благ,
Я радуюсь во время обрядов, о царь.
Стремясь к наградам, да завоюем мы с твоей помощью награду!
Да выстоим мы против нападок смертных!
हव्यवा᳓ळ् अग्नि᳓र् अज᳓रः पिता᳓ नो
विभु᳓र् विभा᳓वा सुदृ᳓शीको अस्मे᳓
सुगार्हपत्याः᳓ स᳓म् इ᳓षो दिदीहि
अस्मद्रि᳓अक् स᳓म् मिमीहि श्र᳓वांसि
अयं हव्यवाडग्निः अजरः अजीर्णः सन् नः पिता भवत्विति शेषः । किंच विभुः व्याप्तः विभावा दीप्तिमान् सुदृशीकः शोभनदर्शनः अस्मे अस्माकं भवतु । अथ प्रत्यक्षवादः। सुगार्हपत्याः शोभनगार्हपत्ययुक्तानि इषः अन्नानि सं दिदीहि सम्यक् प्रकाशय ददस्व वा । अस्मद्र्यक् अस्मदभिमुखं श्रवांसि अन्नानि सं मिमीहि सम्यक् प्रयच्छ ॥
Agni, Eternal Father, offering- bearer, fair to behold, far-reaching, far-refulgent,
From well-kept household fire beam food to feed us, and measure out to us abundant glory.
Agni, the bearer of oblations, our ever-young father, is mighty, brilliant, beautiful to behold among us. Shine (on us) food with a good household 1. Turn all glory towards us 2.
Conveying our oblations, unaging Agni is our father, the one
far-reaching, far-radiant, and lovely to see among us.
Illuminate fully the refreshments of a well-run household. Mete out full measures of fame in our direction.
Er ist uns ew'ger Vater, Opferfahrer, uns schön zu schau'n, gewaltig, hell erstrahlend, O strahl uns Labung her, die lieb dem Hausherrn, und miss uns zu, o Agni, schöne Güter.
Agni, der alterlose Opferfahrer, ist unser Vater, bei uns seine Kraft entfaltend, erstrahlend, von schönem Anblick. Bring uns mit deinem Scheine die Genüsse eines guten Hausstandes, teil uns Ehren zu!
Агни, увозящий жертвы, нестареющий, – наш отец;
(Он) выставлен у нас напоказ, ярко сверкающий, прекрасный на вид.
Воссвети жертвенные услады, предназначенные для хорошего домохозяина!
Отмерь нам сполна доблестей!
विशां᳓ कविं᳓ विश्प᳓तिम् मा᳓नुषीणां
शु᳓चिम् पवाकं᳓+ घृत᳓पृष्ठम् अग्नि᳓म्
नि᳓ हो᳓तारं विश्ववि᳓दं दधिध्वे
स᳓ देवे᳓षु वनते वा᳓रियाणि
मानुषीणां विशां विश्पतिं सर्वासां मनुष्यरूपाणां प्रजानां पालकं स्वामिनं वा कविं मेधाविनं शुचिं शुद्धं दीप्तं वा पावकम् अन्येषां शोधकं घृतपृष्ठं प्रदीप्तपृष्ठोपलक्षितशरीरम् । अथवा उपरितनभागे आज्योपेतं होतारं होमनिष्पादकं विश्वविदं विश्वस्य वेत्तारम् अग्निं नि दधिध्वे धारयथ' हे ऋत्विजः। सः देवः देवेषु मध्ये वार्याणि वरणीयानि धनानि वनते संभजते अस्मदर्थम् । स्वयं वा वार्याणि हवींषि वनते ॥
The Sage of men, the Lord of human races, pure, purifying Agni, balmed with butter,
Him the Omniscient as your Priest ye stablish: he wins among the Gods things worth the choosing.
Establish Agni as the Hotri, the sage of the clans, the lord of human clans, the bright purifier, whose back is covered with ghee, the omniscient. May he obtain the best goods (for us) among the gods.
The poet of the clans, the clanlord of the (clans) of the sons of Manu, blazing, purifying, ghee-backed Agni—
him have you all installed as the Hotar knowing all things. He will win desirable rewards among the gods.
Den weisen Hausherrn aller Menschenstämme, der hell erglänzt, den fettbedeckten Agni, Der alles weiss, ihn machtet ihr zum Priester, zu Göttern bringt er seine schönen Gaben.
Den weisen Herrn der menschlichen Clane, den reinen, lauteren, schmalzrückigen Agni, den Allwissenden, habt ihr zum Hotri eingesetzt. Er möge von den Göttern erwünschte Gaben erlangen.
Поэта племен, господина племен человеческих,
Светлого, чистого, жирноспинного Агни
Вы назначили всезнающим хотаром.
Он добывает среди богов желанные вещи.
जुष᳓स्व अग्न इ᳓ळया सजो᳓षा
य᳓तमानो रश्मि᳓भिः सू᳓रियस्य
जुष᳓स्व नः समि᳓धं जातवेद
आ᳓ च देवा᳓न् हविर᳓द्याय वक्षि
हे अग्ने जुषस्व सेवस्व स्तुतिम् । इळया वेदिलक्षणया भूम्या वाचा वा सजोषाः समानप्रीतिः । तथा सूर्यस्य रश्मिभिः यतमानः प्रयत्नमुषःकाले कुर्वन् । किंच हे जातवेदः जातस्य वेदितरग्ने नः अस्मदीयां समिधं जुषस्व सेवस्व । आ वह च देवान् हविरद्याय हविरदनाय । आवाह्य वक्षि वहसि तद्धविः ॥
Agni, enjoy, of one accord with Ila, striving in rivalry with beams of Sarya,
Enjoy, O Jatavedas, this our fuel, and bring the Gods to us to taste oblations.
Enjoy thyself, O Agni, joined with Idâ, uniting thyself with the rays of the sun. Enjoy our fuel, O Gâtavedas, and bring the gods hither that they may eat our offerings.
Take pleasure, o Agni, along with the libation, aligning with the rays of the sun.
Take pleasure in our kindling wood, o Jātavedas, and convey the gods here to eat the oblations.
Geniess, o Agni, du vereint mit Ida, und dich verbindend mit der Sonne Strahlen, Geniess, o Wesenkenner, unser Brennholz und fahr die Götter her zum Opfermahle.
Nimm fürlieb mit der Opferspende einverstanden, o Agni, an Glanz mit den Strahlen der Sonne wetteifernd! Nimm mit unserem Brennholz fürlieb, o Jatavedas, und fahre die Götter zum Opferschmaus her!
Наслаждайся, о Агни, (жертвой), единодушный с Идой,
Соразмеряясь с лучами солнца!
Наслаждайся нашими дровами (для костра), о Джатаведас,
И привези богов для вкушения жертвы!
जु᳓ष्टो द᳓मूना अ᳓तिथिर् दुरोण᳓
इमं᳓ नो यज्ञ᳓म् उ᳓प याहि विद्वा᳓न्
वि᳓श्वा अग्ने अभियु᳓जो विह᳓त्या
शत्रूयता᳓म् आ᳓ भरा भो᳓जनानि
जुष्टः पर्याप्तः दमूनाः दानमना दान्तमन वा अतिथिः तद्वत् दुरोणे गृहे पूज्यः सन् इमं नः अस्मदीयं यज्ञम् उप याहि उपागच्छ । विद्वान् जानन् हे अग्ने विश्वाः अभियुजः सर्वानभियोक्तॄन् विहत्य शत्रूयतां तेषां भोजनानि अन्नानि धनानि आ भर आहर । ‘ अतिथिरभ्यतितो गृहान्भवति' (निरु. ४. ५) इत्यादिनिरुक्तं द्रष्टव्यम् ॥ ॥ १८ ॥
As dear House-Friend, guest welcome in the dwelling, to this our sacrifice come thou who knowest.
And, Agni, having scattered all assailants, bring to us the possessions of our foemen.
Welcome, as our household-god and the guest in our dwelling, come to this our sacrifice as the knowing one. Dispelling, O Agni, all (hostile) attempts, bring to us the possessions of those who are at enmity with us.
As the pleasing lord of the house and the guest in the home, journey to this our sacrifice since you are the knowing one.
Having smashed to pieces all attacks, o Agni, bring here the sustenance of those challenging us.
Als lieber Hausfreund und als Gast im Hause komm kundig her zu diesem unsern Opfer, Vertilgend alle Gegner bring, o Agni, zu uns herbei der feindgesinnten Nahrung.
Gern gesehen als Hausherr, als Gast im Hause komm her zu diesem Opfer von uns als Kenner! Alle Angriffe zerschlagend bringe den Wohlstand der Feindseligen her, o Agni!
Насладившись как домашний (бог), гость в доме,
Приди на эту нашу жертву как знаток!
О Агни, отбив все нападки,
Принеси (жертвенные) блюда враждующих (с нами)!
वधे᳓न द᳓स्युम् प्र᳓ हि᳓ चात᳓यस्व
व᳓यः कृण्वान᳓स् तनु᳓वे सुवा᳓यै
पि᳓पर्षि य᳓त् सहसस् पुत्र देवा᳓न्
सो᳓ ऽग्ने° पाहि नृतम वा᳓जे अस्मा᳓न्
हे अग्ने वधेन आयुधेन दस्युम् उपक्षपयितारं प्र हि चातयस्व प्रणाशय । हि इति पूरणः । वयः कृण्वानः कुर्वाणः तन्वे शरीराय स्वायै स्वीयाय । अथवा स्वायै तन्वे यजमानादिरूपाय पुत्राय वयोऽन्नं कुर्वाणः । यत् यस्मात् सहसस्पुत्र अग्ने देवान् पिपर्षि तर्पयसि। हे नृतम नेतृतम अग्ने सः त्वं वाजे संग्रामे अस्मान् पाहि रक्ष ॥
Drive thou away the Dasyu with thy weapon. As, gaining vital power for thine own body,
O Son of Strength, the Gods thou satisfiest, so in fight save us, most heroic Agni.
Drive away the Dasyu with thy weapon, creating strength for thy own body. When thou bringest the gods across (to us), O son of strength, then, O manliest Agni, protect us in (our striving for) gain.
With your weapon send the Dasyu into hiding, while creating vigor for your own body,
and thus protect us when the prize is at stake, o Agni, best of men, since you bring the gods safely across, o child of strength.
Mit deiner Keule treibe weg den Dämon, dem eignen Leibe frische Kraft verschaffend; Wenn, Sohn der Kraft, die Götter du herbeifährst, so schirm uns dann, o stärkster Held im Kampfe.
Vertreibe darum mit der Waffe den Dasyu, deinem eigenen Leibe Stärke zulegend. Da du, Sohn der Kraft, den Göttern heraushilfst, so schütze, o Agni, auch uns im Wettstreit, du Mannhaftester!
Смертельным оружием прогони дасью,
Создавая своему телу жизненную силу!
Раз ты, о сын силы, выручаешь богов,
Сохрани нас, о самый мужественный Агни, для награды!
वयं᳓ ते अग्न उक्थइ᳓र् विधेम
वयं᳓ हव्यइः᳓ पवाक+ भद्रशोचे
अस्मे᳓ रयिं᳓ विश्व᳓वारं स᳓म् इन्व
अस्मे᳓ वि᳓श्वानि द्र᳓विणानि धेहि
हे अग्ने ते त्वां वयम् उक्थैः शस्त्रैः विधेम परिचरेम । वयं हव्यैः हविर्भिर्विधेम । पावक शोधक हे भद्रशोचे कल्याणदीप्ते अस्मे अस्मभ्यं विश्ववारं विश्वैर्वरणीयं रयिं धनं समिन्व प्रापय। अस्मे अस्मभ्यं विश्वानि द्रविणानि धेहि स्थापय ॥
May we, O Agni, with our lauds adore thee, and with our gifts, fair-beaming Purifier!
Send to us wealth containing all things precious: bestow upon us every sort of riches.
May we worship thee, O Agni, with hymns, with offerings, O purifier with glorious light. Stir for us wealth with all goods; bestow on us all riches!
We would do you honor, o Agni, with our recitations; we, with our oblations, o pure one of auspicious flame.
For us speed wealth that fulfills all wishes; for us grant all goods.
Wir huldigen mit Sprüchen dir, o Agni, mit Opfern dir, der glänzendhell du strahlest; Uns sende Reichthum zu mit allen Gaben, uns schenke alle Habe, allen Hausrath.
Wir wollen dir, Agni, mit Liedern huldigen, wir mit Opfergaben, du Lauterer von wohltätiger Glut. Bring uns allbegehrten Reichtum zu, verschaff uns alle Güter!
Мы хотим, о Агни, почитать тебя гимнами,
Мы – жертвенными возлияниями, о чистый с блеском, приносящим счастье!
Для нас возбуди богатство, состоящее из всего желанного!
Нас надели всеми благами!
अस्मा᳓कम् अग्ने अध्वरं᳓ जुषस्व
स᳓हसः सूनो त्रिषधस्थ हव्य᳓म्
वयं᳓ देवे᳓षु सुकृ᳓तः सियाम
श᳓र्मणा नस् त्रिव᳓रूथेन पाहि
हे अग्ने अस्माकम् अध्वरं जुषस्व सेवस्व । हे सहसः सूनो हे बलस्य पुत्र त्रिषधस्थ त्रिषु क्षित्यादिषु स्थानेषु स्थित हव्यं हविः जुषस्व । यद्वा । अध्वरं हविरिति योज्यम् । अहिंसितं हविरित्यर्थः। वयं यजमानाः देवेषु मध्ये सुकृतः शोभनापूर्वकर्तारः स्याम भवेम । त्रिवरूथेन वाचिकादिभेदेन त्रिधा वरणीयेन शर्मणा सुखेन त्रिच्छदिष्केण गृहेण वा नः पाहि रक्ष ॥
Son of Strength, Agni, dweller in three regions, accept our sacrifice and our oblation.
Among the Gods may we be counted pious: protect us with a triply-guarding shelter.
Gâtavedas, as with a boat across a river. Agni, being praised with adoration as (thou hast been praised) by Atri, be a protector of our bodies.
Take pleasure in our rite, o Agni, son of strength with three abodes, and in our oblation.
May we be those acting rightly toward the gods. Protect us by your
shelter with its three defenses.
Geniess, o Sohn der Stärke, unser Opfer, o Agni dreifach thronend, unsre Speise; Wir mögen fromm bei Göttern auch erscheinen; behüte uns mit Schutz, der dreifach schirmet.
Nimm, Agni, mit unserem Opfer fürlieb, Sohn der Kraft, mit unserer Spende, der du drei Stätten hast! Wir möchten vor den Göttern rechtschaffen sein. Schütz uns mit dreifach schirmendem Schutze!
На нашем обряде наслаждайся, о Агни,
(Нашей) жертвой, о сын силы, имеющий три жилища!
Да будем мы благочестивыми перед богами!
Охраняй нас защитой с тройным щитом!
वि᳓श्वानि नो दुर्ग᳓हा जातवेदः
सि᳓न्धुं न᳓ नावा᳓ दुरिता᳓ति पर्षि
अ᳓ग्ने अत्रिव᳓न् न᳓मसा गृणानो᳓
अस्मा᳓कम् बोधि अविता᳓ तनू᳓नाम्
हे जातवेदः नः अस्माकं दुर्गहा दुःखेन गाह्यानि दुःखेन भोग्यानि विश्वानि दुरितानि अति पर्षि अतिपारय । सिन्धुं न नावा नदीं नाविको यथा तद्वत् । हे अग्ने अत्रिवत् अत्रेर्यथा तथा अस्माकं नमसा स्तोत्रेण गृणानः स्तूयमानः सन् अस्माकं तनूनाम् अविता रक्षकः बोधि बुध्यस्व ॥
Over all woes and dangers, Jatavedas, bear us as in a boat across a river.
Praised with our homage even as Atri praised thee, O Agni, be the guardian of our bodies.
Bring us across all difficulties and dangers,
Carry us across all difficult depths and difficult ways, o Jātavedas, as if across a river by a boat.
O Agni, being sung with reverence as if by Atri, become the helper of our bodies.
O Wesenkenner fahr uns über alle Gefahr und Noth wie übers Meer mit Schiffen; Wie einst von Atri, demuthsvoll gepriesen sei, Agni, du Beschützer unsrer Leiber.
Über alle Tiefen, o Jatavedas, über die Fährlichkeiten hilf uns hinüber wie mit dem Schiff über den Strom! Agni, wie von Atri unter Verbeugung gepriesen, sei der Beschützer unserer Leiber!
Через все труднопроходимые места, о Джатаведас,
Через опасности перевези нас, как через реку на лодке!
О Агни, воспетый с поклонением, как (некогда) у Атри,
Будь защитником наших тел!
य᳓स् त्वा हृदा᳓ कीरि᳓णा +++(=स्तोत्रिणा)+++ म᳓न्यमानो᳓
ऽमर्त्यं म᳓र्त्यो जो᳓हवीमि ।
जा᳓तवेदो य᳓शो अस्मा᳓सु धेहि
प्रजा᳓भिर् अग्ने अमृतत्व᳓म् अश्याम् ॥
यः मर्त्यः मरणधर्माहम् अमर्त्यम् अविनाशं त्वा त्वां कीरिणा स्तुत्यादिषु विक्षिप्तेन हृदा हृदयेन युक्तः मन्यमानः स्तुवन् जोहवीमि अत्यर्थमाह्वयामि । यद्वा । स्तोतृवाचकेन कीरिणाशब्देन स्तुतिरुपलक्ष्यते । स्तुतियुक्तेन मनसा त्वां मन्यमानो जोहवीमि । हे जातवेदः यशः धनं प्रजां वा अस्मासु धेहि । प्रजाभिः त्वद्दत्ताभिर्हे अग्ने अहम् अमृतत्वं संतत्यविच्छेदलक्षणम् अश्यां प्राप्नुयाम् । प्रजामनु प्रजायसे तदु ते मर्त्यामृतम्' (तै. ब्रा. १. ५. ५. ६ ) इति हि श्रुतिः ॥
As I, remembering thee with grateful spirit, a mortal, call with might on thee Immortal,
Vouchsafe us high renown, O Jatavedas, and may I be immortal by my children.
When I, the mortal, call thee, the immortal, thinking of thee with humble mind 1, bestow glory on us, O Gâtavedas; may I attain immortality, O Agni, with my offspring.
I who deeming thee immortal,
Mortal myself, call on thee with prayerful heart.
Upon us, O wise one, bestow glory;
O Agni, through offspring may I attain immortality.
Thinking with a simple heart, I, a mortal, who repeatedly invoke you, an immortal—
among us grant glory, o Jātavedas. May I attain immortality through offspring, o Agni.
Der dankerfüllten Herzens dein gedenkend, ich Sterblicher dich rufe, der unsterblich; O Wesenkenner schenke hohen Ruhm uns und lass durch Kinder mich unsterblich werden.
Wenn ich mit dem bloßen Herzen deiner gedenkend, ich der Sterbliche nach dir dem Unsterblichen rufe, so verleih uns, o Jatavedas, Ehre! Durch Kinder möchte ich, Agni, Unsterblichkeit erlangen.
Думая о тебе от чистого сердца,
Когда я, смертный, зову тебя, бессмертного –
О Джатаведас, дай нам славу!
Пусть достигну я, о Агни, бессмертия через потомство!
य᳓स्मै त्वँ᳓ सुकृ᳓ते जातवेद उ᳓
लोक᳓म् अग्ने कृण᳓वः +++(=कुर्याः)+++ स्योन᳓म् +++(सुखमयम्)+++।
अश्वि᳓नँ स᳓ पुत्रि᳓णं वीर᳓वन्तं
गो᳓मन्तँ रयिं᳓ नशते +++(=प्राप्नोति)+++ स्वस्ति᳓ ॥
हे जातवेदः अग्ने त्वं यस्मै सुकृते सुकर्मणे यजमानाय । उ इति पूरणः । लोकं स्योनं सुखकरं कृणवः अकरोः । यद्वा । लोकमालोकेन स्योनं कृणवः अनुग्रहेण कुर्वित्यर्थः । सः यजमान: अश्विनं बह्वश्वोपेतं पुत्रिणं बहुपुत्रोपेतं वीरवन्तं वीरैर्वीर्येण वा उपेतं गोमन्तं गोभिर्युक्तं रयिं धनं नशते प्राप्नोति । स्वस्ति अविनश्वरम् ॥ ॥ १९ ॥
The pious man, O Jatavedas Agni, to whom thou grantest ample room and pleasure,
Gaineth abundant wealth with sons and horses, with heroes and with kine for his well-being.
The well-doer to whom thou, O Agni Gâtavedas, createst pleasant freedom, will happily attain wealth with horses and sons, with valiant men and cows.
He, for whom, O Agni, thou dost make, O wise one,
For his good deeds a kindly world,
Shall win prosperity and wealth,
Rich in sons, in heroes, in kine.
For whom you will make a wide, comfortable place, o Jātavedas, since he acts rightly toward you, o Agni,
he will attain a wealth of horses, sons, heroes, and cattle for his
well-being.
O Wesenkenner, welchem frommen Manne du Raum verschaffst und Lust gewährst, o Agni, Der findet Glück und Habe, die mit Söhnen, mit Männern, Rossen, Rindern reich versehn ist.
Der Fromme, dem du, Agni Jatavedas, seinen Platz angenehm machen willst, der kommt glücklich zu einem Schatz von Rossen, Söhnen, Mannen, Rindern.
(Если) какому благочестивому (смертному), о Джатаведас,
Ты хочешь создать приятное место (в жизни),
Он достигнет богатства, состоящего из коней,
Из сыновей, из героев – на счастье.
