छन्दपङ्क्तिः
अग्निं᳓ त᳓म् मन्ये यो᳓ व᳓सुर्
अ᳓स्तं यं᳓ य᳓न्ति धेन᳓वः
अ᳓स्तम् अ᳓र्वन्त आश᳓वो
अ᳓स्तं नि᳓त्यासो वाजि᳓न
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
तम् अग्निं मन्ये स्तौमि । यः अग्निः वसुः वासकः । यम् अस्तं सर्वेषां गृहवदाश्रयभूतं धेनवः यन्ति गच्छन्ति प्रीणयितुम् । अस्तम् उक्तलक्षणम् अर्वन्तः अरणवन्तोऽश्वाः । आशवः शीघ्रगामिनो यन्ति । तथा नित्यासः नित्यप्रवृत्तयः वाजिनः हविर्लक्षणान्नवन्तः यजमाना यम् अस्तं यन्ति तं मन्ये । इषम् अन्नं स्तोतृभ्यः अस्मभ्यम् आ भर अग्ने ॥
I VALUE Agni that good Lord, the home to which the kine return:
Whom fleet-foot coursers seek as home, and strong enduring steeds as home. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
I think of that Agni who is a Vasu, to whom the milch-cows go home, the swift horses (go) home, (our) own racers (go) home. Bring food to thy praisers!
I think of Agni, who is the good one, to whom milk-cows go home, swift chargers (go) home, and our own prizewinners (go) home.
– Bring refreshment for the praise singers.
Des guten Agni denke ich, zu dem die Kühe kehren heim, Und heim die schnellen Renner auch, die steten Priester kehren heim; den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Den Agni habe ich im Sinn, der der Gute ist, zu dem die Kühe heimkehren, die raschen Rennpferde heimkehren, die eigenen Sieger heimkehren. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Я думаю о том Агни, который добр,
К которому возвращаются домой дойные коровы,
Домой – быстрые скакуны,
Домой (наши) собственные победители.

सो᳓ अग्नि᳓र् यो᳓ व᳓सुर् गृणे᳓
सं᳓ य᳓म् आय᳓न्ति धेन᳓वः
स᳓म् अ᳓र्वन्तो रघुद्रु᳓वः
सं᳓ सुजाता᳓सः सूर᳓य
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
सः अग्निः स खल्वग्निः यो वसुः वासकः गृणे स्तूयते । यं धेनवः सम् आयन्ति होमार्थम् । अर्वन्तः अश्वाः रघुद्रुवः लघुगमनाः सम् आयन्ति । सुजातासः सूरयः मेधाविनश्च सम् आयन्ति स खल्वग्निरिति ॥
'Tis Agni whom we laud as good, to whom the milch-kine come in herds,
To whom the chargers swift of foot, to whom our well-born princes come. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
He is Agni who is praised as the Vasu, he to whom the milch-cows come together, and the quickly running horses, and the well-born liberal patrons. Bring food to thy praisers!
He is Agni, who is sung as the good one, whom the milk-cows approach together,
the fast-running chargers (approach) together, and well-born patrons (approach) together.

Ja, Agni ist's, den gut man nennt, zu dem die Kühe alle gehn, die Renner schnellen Laufes gehn, die hochgebor'nen Priester auch; den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Dies ist der Agni, der als der Gute gepriesen wird, um den die Kühe sich sammeln, die schnellaufenden Rennpferde und die hochgeborenen Opferherren. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Это Агни, который воспевается как добрый,
К которому сходятся дойные коровы,
С(ходятся) быстро бегающие скакуны,

अग्नि᳓र् हि᳓ वाजि᳓नं विशे᳓
द᳓दाति विश्व᳓चर्षणिः
अग्नी᳓ राये᳓ सुआभु᳓वं
स᳓ प्रीतो᳓ याति वा᳓रियम्
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
अग्निर्हि अयमग्निः खलु विशे यजमानाय वाजिनम् अन्नवन्तं पुत्रमश्वमन्नं वा ददाति । विश्वचर्षणिः । विश्वे चर्षणयो मनुष्या रक्षणीया अर्चका वा यस्य स तथोक्तः । यद्वा । पश्यतिकर्मैतत् । सर्वस्य द्रष्टा अग्निः राये धनार्थिने । अथवा द्वितीयार्थे चतुर्थी । धनं स्वाभुवं सुष्ठु सर्वत्र व्याप्तं वार्यं सर्वैर्वरणीयं प्रीतः सन् याति यमयति । दातुं वा गच्छति । इषमित्यादि गतम् ॥
Agni the God of all mankind, gives, verily, a steed to man.
Agni gives precious gear for wealth, treasure he gives when he is pleased. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
For Agni, dwelling among all tribes, gives a racer to the clan. Agni (gives a racer) that is truly helpful for (winning) wealth 1: he (the racer) being well cherished, will attain precious gain. Bring food to thy praisers!
Since Agni, who belongs to all domains, gives the prizewinner [=Agni?] to the clan,
(since) Agni (gives the prizewinner) that is very ready for wealth, when pleased, he journeys to what is valued.

Denn Agni schenket schnelles Ross dem Menschen er, der Menschenhort, Und Agni schönbereites Gut, der liebe gibt uns reichen Schatz; den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Denn Agni, der allen Völkern angehört, schenkt dem Clan einen Sieger, Agni ein Rennpferd, das zu Reichtum tüchtig ist. Froh geht es auf begehrenswertes Gut aus. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Ведь Агни дает племени
Победителя, (он,) принадлежащий всем народам,
Агни – (того, кто) умел (в добывании) богатства.
Он идет радостный к желанному богатству.

आ᳓ ते अग्न इधीमहि
द्युम᳓न्तं देव अज᳓रम्
य᳓द् ध स्या᳓ ते प᳓नीयसी
समि᳓द् दीद᳓यति द्य᳓वि
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
हे अग्ने देव द्युमन्तं दीप्तिमन्तम् अजरम् अजीर्णं ते त्वाम् आ सर्वतः इधीमहि दीपयामः । यद्ध खलु स्या सा ते तव पनीयसी स्तुत्या समित् दीप्तिः दीदयति दीप्यते द्यवि द्युलोके ॥
God, Agni, we will kindle thee, rich in thy splendour, fading not,
So that this glorious fuel may send forth by day its light for thee. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
May we kindle thee 1, Agni, O god, the brilliant, never ageing, in order that yon highly miraculous fuel of thine 2 may shine in the sky. Bring food to thy praisers!
Agni, here would we kindle your brilliant and unaging (flame), o god, so that this your kindling stick, admired more, will shine in heaven.

Dir Agni zünden wir, o Gott, die helle, ew'ge Leuchte an, Dass diese lichte Flamme dir am Himmel glänze wunderschön; den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Wir möchten, Gott Agni, dein glänzendes, alterloses Feuer entzünden, auf daß dein kostbares Brennholz am Himmel leuchte. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Мы хотим зажечь, о Агни, твое
Сверкающее нестареющее (пламя), о бог,
Чтобы те самые твои удивительные
Дрова засветились на небе.

आ᳓ ते अग्न ऋचा᳓ हविः᳓
शु᳓क्रस्य शोचिषस् पते
सु᳓श्चन्द्र द᳓स्म वि᳓श्पते
ह᳓व्यवाट् तु᳓भ्यं हूयत
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
हे शोचिषः दीप्तेः पते स्वामिन् अग्ने शुक्रस्य दीप्तस्य ते तुभ्यम् ऋचा मन्त्रेण सह हविः हूयते । हे सुश्चन्द्र सुष्ठ्वाह्लादक शोभनहिरण्य वा हे दस्म शत्रूणामुपक्षपयितः विश्पते विशां प्रजानां पालक हव्यवाट् हविषो वोढः । इषमिति गतम् ॥ ॥ २२ ॥
To thee the splendid, Lord of flame, bright, wondrous, Prince of men, is brought.
Oblation with the holy verse, O Agni, bearer of our gifts.
Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
To thee 1, O Agni, our oblation is offered with a Rik, O lord of bright splendour, highly brilliant, wonderful lord of the clan, carrier of oblations! Bring food to thy praisers!
Agni, for you the offering is poured here, accompanied by our verse, o lord of the glistening flame,
beautifully shimmering, wondrous clanlord, and conveyor of oblations. – Bring refreshment for the praise singers.
Mit Loblied wird dir Opferguss, o Agni, Herr des hellen Lichts, O hehrer Hausherr, leuchtender, ergossen, der du Opfer fährst; den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Dir, o Agni, wird das Opfer mit einem Vers, du Herr der hellen Glut, schönleuchtender Meister, Stammesherr, Opferfahrer, nur dir geopfert. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Это для тебя, о Агни, жертвенное возлияние с гимном,
О господин светлого пламени,
Ярко сияющий удивительный господин племен,
О увозящий жертвы, только для тебя совершается.

प्रो᳓ त्ये᳓ अग्न᳓यो अग्नि᳓षु
वि᳓श्वम् पुष्यन्ति वा᳓रियम्
ते᳓ हिन्विरे त᳓ इन्विरे
त᳓ इषण्यन्ति आनुष᳓ग्
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
प्रो प्रैव पुष्यन्ति त्ये ते अग्नयः धिष्ण्या अग्निषु गार्हपत्यादिषु । यद्वा । लौकिका अग्नयः तेजःपदार्थोऽग्निषु वैदिकेषु विश्वं सर्वं वार्यं वरणीयमपेक्षितं धनं पुष्यन्ति । ते अग्नयः हिन्विरे प्रीणयन्ति । इन्विरे व्याप्नुवन्ति च । ते इषण्यन्ति अन्नमिच्छन्ति । आनुषक् सर्वत्रानुषक्तम् । तत्राग्निसामान्याभिप्रायेणैकवचनम् ॥
These Agnis in the seats of the fire nourish each thing most excellent.
They give delight, they spread abroad, they move themselves continually. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
Those Agnis make everything precious prosper in the Agnis; they drive forward (precious wealth); they incite it; they speed it hither in the due way 1. Bring food to thy praisers!
And these fires are at the forefront among fires. They foster everything of value.
They hasten it; they speed it; they drive it onward in proper order.

Zur Blüte bringen alles Gut durch Feuer diese Feuer hier; Sie eilen sich, sie treiben sich, sie regen an ohn' Unterlass; den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Diese Feuer haben unter allen Feuern den Vorrang; sie haben alles Begehrenswerte in Fülle. Sie werden angespornt, sie werden getrieben, sie eilen, wie sich´s gehört. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Те самые огни впереди (других) огней.
Они дают процветание всему желанному богатству.
Их пришпоривают, их погоняют,
Они спешат один за другим.
Принеси восхвалителям жертвенную усладу!
त᳓व त्ये᳓ अग्ने अर्च᳓यो
म᳓हि व्राधन्त वाजि᳓नः
ये᳓ प᳓त्वभिः शफा᳓नां᳐
व्रजा᳓ भुर᳓न्त गो᳓ना᳐म्
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
हे अग्ने तव त्वदीयाः त्ये ते अर्चयः रश्मयः महि महदत्यधिकं वाजिनः अन्नवन्तो वा व्राधन्त वर्धन्ते । यद्वा लुप्तोपमा । वाजिनोऽश्वा इव । ये रश्मयः पत्वभिः पतनैः शफानां । गोनां व्रजा यूथानि भुरन्त इच्छन्ति । आयता ज्वाला होमाय काङ्क्षन्त इत्यर्थः । ते वर्धन्ते ॥
Agni, these brilliant flames of thine wax like strong chargers mightily,
Who with the treadings of their hoofs go swiftly to the stalls of kine. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
Those flames of thine, O Agni, the racers, have boasted mightily—they who with the flight of their hoofs have made tremble 1 the stables of the cows. Bring food to thy praisers!
These flames of yours, o Agni, are greatly arrogant prizewinners, which, by the soaring of their hooves, dart toward the double
enclosures of the cows.

Sie, deine Strahlen wuchsen an, gewaltig, Agni, Rossen gleich, Die Hufe schleudernd springen sie und eilen zu der Kühe Stall, den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Diese deine Flammen, o Agni, die Streitrosse tuen sich mächtig groß, die mit dem Schwung ihrer Hufe die Pferche der Rinder erstampfen. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Те самые твои языки пламени, о Агни,
Мощно растут, победители,
Которые взмахами копыт
Сотрясают загоны для коров.

न᳓वा नो अग्न आ᳓ भर
स्तोतृ᳓भ्यः सुक्षिती᳓र् इ᳓षः
ते᳓ सियाम य᳓ आनृचु᳓स्
त्वा᳓दूतासो द᳓मे-दम
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
हे अग्ने स्तोतृभ्यः नः अस्मभ्यं नवाः स्तुत्या नूत्ना वा सुक्षितीः सुनिवासाः सुप्रजा वा इषः उक्तलक्षणान्यन्नानि आ भर प्रयच्छ । ये वयं दमेदमे सर्वेषु यागगृहेषु त्वाम् आनृचुः अर्चयन्ति । ते वयं त्वादूतासः त्वां दूतं फलसूचकं लब्धवन्तः सन्तः स्याम समृद्धा भूयास्म । दमे दमे स्यामेति वा योज्यम् ॥
To us who laud thee, Agni, bring fresh food and safe and happy homes.
May we who have sung hymns to thee have thee for envoy in each house. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
Bring fresh food with fine dwellings, O Agni, to us, thy praisers! May we be of those who have praised (thee), who have thee as their messenger, house by house. Bring food to thy praisers!
Agni, bring the new ones here to us, the praise singers—(those) refreshments and good settlements.
We would be those who have recited verses, those having you as our messenger in every house.
– Bring refreshment for the praise singers.
O Agni, bringe sichern Schutz, den Sängern neue Labung her; Wir seien es, die preisend dich zum Boten haben Haus für Haus; den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Bring, Agni, uns Sängern neue Speisegenüsse und gute Wohnungen. Wir möchten die sein, die in jedem Haus dich gepriesen haben, indem sie dich zu ihrem Boten machten. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Принеси нам, о Агни, восхвалителям,
Новые прекрасные места для жилья (и) жертвенные услады.
Да будем мы теми, кто воспел (тебя)
В каждом доме, сделав тебя вестником.

उभे᳓ सुश्चन्द्र सर्पि᳓षो
द᳓र्वी श्रीणीष आस᳓नि
उतो᳓ न उ᳓त् पुपूरिया
उक्थे᳓षु शवसस् पत
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
हे सुश्चन्द्र शोभनाह्लादन शोभनहिरण्य वाग्ने उभे सर्पिषः पूर्णे दर्वी जुहूपभृतौ आसनि आस्ये श्रीणीषे श्रयसि पचसि वा । उतो अपि च नः अस्मान् उक्थेषु यागेषु उत्पुपूर्याः उत्पूरय फलैः। हे शवसस्पते बलस्य पालयितः ॥
Thou, brilliant God, within thy mouth warmest both ladies of the oil.
So fill us also, in our hymns, abundantly, O Lord of Strength,Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
Thou warmest in thy mouth, O highly brilliant one, the two (sacrificial) ladles full of butter. And mayst thou fill us (with gifts) at our hymns, O lord of strength! Bring food to thy praisers!
O you who are beautifully shimmering, you make the two spoonsful of melted butter ready within your mouth,
and so you should fill us (with plenty) at our hymns, o lord of
vast power.

In deinem Mund, o glänzender, mach beide Butterlöffel heiss, Und fülle reiches Gut uns zu bei diesen Sprüchen, Herr der Kraft, den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
Beide Löffel mit Schmelzbutter mischtest du in deinem Munde, du Schönglänzender. Schenke du auch uns voll ein für die Lieder, du Herr der Kraft! - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Обе ложки топленого масла, о ярко сияющий,
Ты смешиваешь во рту.
И нам ты наполни с верхом
За гимны, о господин силы!

एवाँ᳓ अग्नि᳓म् अजुर्यमुर्
गीर्भि᳓र् यज्ञे᳓भिर् आनुष᳓क्
द᳓धद् अस्मे᳓ सुवी᳓रियम्
उत᳓ त्य᳓द् आशुअ᳓श्वियम्
इ᳓षं स्तोतृ᳓भ्य आ᳓ भर
एव उक्तरीत्या अग्निं गीर्भिः स्तुतिभिः यज्ञेभिः यज्ञैर्वा तत्साधनैर्हविर्भिर्वा आनुषक् अनुषक्तम् अजुः गच्छन्ति। तथा कृत्वा यमुः यमयन्ति स्थापयन्ति हविर्भिर्यजन्तीत्यर्थः । एवमात्रेयाः स्वान् परोक्षतया निर्दिशन्ति ॥ अजुर्यमुरित्यत्र ‘ आख्यातमाख्यातेन क्रियासातत्ये ' (पा. सू. २. १. ७२ ग.) इति समासः॥ किंच अस्मे अस्मासु सुवीर्यं शोभनपुत्रादिकम् उत अपि च त्यत् तत् आश्वश्व्यम् । आशवोऽश्वा यस्य भवन्ति स आश्वश्वः । तस्य भाव आश्वश्व्यम् । तदपि दधत् धारयति ॥ ॥ २३ ॥
Thus Agni have we duly served with sacrifices and with hymns.
So may he give us what we crave, store of brave sons and fleet-foot steeds. Bring food to those who sing thy praise.
Thus 1 they have driven, they have led 2, Agni in the due way by prayers and sacrifices. May he bestow on us plenty of valiant men, and that plenty of swift horses (wished for) 3. Bring food to thy praisers!
Thus they have guided the unaging Agni with songs and sacrifices in proper order.
He will grant to us an abundance of heroes and this abundance of swift horses.

So trieben, lenkten Agni sie durch Lied und Opfer fort und fort, Er schenke Kinderreichthum uns und schneller Rosse Eigenthum, den Sängern bringe Labetrunk.
So haben sie den alterlosen Agni mit Lobesworten und Opfern richtig gelenkt. Er verleihe uns die Meisterschaft und diesen Besitz rascher Rosse. - Bring den Sängern gute Speise!
Так правили они нестареющим Агни
С помощью песен, жертв – по порядку.
Пусть он даст нам обилие прекрасных героев,
А также то самое богатство из быстрых коней!
