छन्दजगती
तुवा᳓म् अग्न ऋताय᳓वः स᳓म् ईधिरे
प्रत्न᳓म् प्रत्ना᳓स ऊत᳓ये सहस्कृत
पुरुश्चन्द्रं᳓ यजतं᳓ विश्व᳓धायसं
द᳓मूनसं गृह᳓पतिं व᳓रेणियम्
हे सहस्कृत बलस्य कर्तः अग्ने प्रत्नं पुरातनं त्वां प्रत्नासः पुरातनाः ऋतायवः यज्ञकामा ऋषयः ऊतये स्वरक्षणाय समीधिरे सम्यग्दीपितवन्तः । कीदृशं त्वाम् । पुरुश्चन्द्रं बहुधनम् अतिशयेनाह्लादकं वा यजतं यष्टव्यं विश्वधायसं बह्वन्नं दमूनसं दानमनसं गृहपतिं यजमानगृहस्य पालकं वरेण्यं वरणीयम् ॥
O AGNI urged to strength, the men of old who loved the Law enkindled thee,
the Ancient, for their aid,
Thee very bright, and holy, nourisher of all, most excellent, the Friend and Master of the home.
Thee, O Agni, the men who love Rita have kindled, the ancient ones thee the ancient, for the sake of bliss, O (god) who art produced by strength; the highly-brilliant, worshipful, in whom all refreshment dwells, the household god, the lord of the house, the chosen.
You, o Agni, did the truth-seekers kindle—the ancients (kindled) the ancient one—for your help, o you made with strength,
(you) the much-glittering, all-nurturing one worthy of the sacrifice, the desirable master of the household, lord of the house.
Dich, Agni, haben frommgesinnte angefacht, den alten alte sich zu Nutz, o Sohn der Kraft; Den glänzenden, den hehren, welcher alle nährt, den wünschenswerthen, gastlich lieben Hausesherrn.
Dich, Agni, haben die Gesetzesliebenden entzündet, dich den Alten die Altvorderen zur Gnade, du Krafterzeugter, den glanzreichen, opferwürdigen, alle labenden, vorzüglichen Gebieter und Hausherrn.
Тебя, о Агни, зажгли преданные закону,
Древнего – древние для поддержки, о созданный силой,
Очень яркого, достойного жертв, всех подкрепляющего,
Домашнего, хозяина дома, избранного.
तुवा᳓म् अग्ने अ᳓तिथिम् पूर्वियं᳓ वि᳓शः
शोचि᳓ष्केशं गृह᳓पतिं नि᳓ षेदिरे
बृह᳓त्केतुम् पुरुरू᳓पं धनस्पृ᳓तं
सुश᳓र्माणं सुअ᳓वसं जरद्वि᳓षम्
हे अग्ने त्वां विशः यजमानाः गृहपतिं गृहस्वामिनं नि षेदिरे । गार्हपत्यरूपेण स्थापितवन्त इत्यर्थः । कीदृशं त्वाम् । अतिथिम् अतिथिवत्पूज्यं पूर्व्यं पुरातनं शोचिष्केशं दीप्तज्वालं बृहत्केतुं प्रभूतप्रज्ञानं पुरुरूपम् आहवनीयादिरूपेण बहुरूपं धनस्पृतं धनानां स्पर्तारं सुशर्माणं शोभनसुखं स्ववसं सुरक्षणं जरद्विषं जरतां वृक्षाणां व्यापकं जीर्णोदकं वा ॥ ।
Thee, Agni, men have stablished as their guest of old, as Master of the household, thee, with hair of flame;
High-bannered, multiform, distributor of wealth, kind helper, good protector, drier of the floods.
Thee, O Agni, the clans have set down, the ancient guest, the flame-haired lord of the house, with mighty light, with many shapes, the winner of prizes, giving good shelter and good help, who is busy among the decayed (wood) 1.
You, o Agni, did they seat as the first guest of the clan, as the lord of the house with blazing hair,
with lofty beacon and many forms, winning back the stakes, offering good protection and good help, striving to bring (mortals) to old age.
Dich, Agni, haben eingesetzt als ersten Gast die Menschen und als lichtumlockten Hausherrn dich, Dess Banner hoch, der vielgestaltig Beute macht, der sichern Schutz und Huld gewährend Feinde tilgt.
Dich, Agni, haben sie eingesetzt, den ersten Gast des Clans, den Hausherrn mit den Flammenhaaren, mit hohem Banner, den vielgestaltigen, Schätze gewinnenden, schutz- und gnadenreichen, der das alte Holz verarbeitet.
Тебя, о Агни, усадили как первого гостя
Племени, пламенновласого, хозяина дома,
С высоким знаменем, с многими формами, захватывающего награду,
Оказывающего прекрасную защиту, прекрасную помощь, пожирающего старые (деревья).
त्वा᳓मग्ने मा᳓नुषीर् ईळते वि᳓शो
होत्रा-वि᳓दं वि᳓विचिं रत्न-धा᳓तमम् ।
गु᳓हा स᳓न्तं सुभग विश्व᳓-दर्शतं
तुविष्वण᳓सं सुय᳓जं घृत-श्रि᳓यम् ॥
हे अग्ने सुभग शोभनधन त्वां मानुषीः विशः मानुषसंबन्धिन्यः सर्वाः प्रजाः ईळते स्तुवन्ति । कीदृशं त्वाम् । होत्राविदं होत्राणां होमानां सप्तहोत्रकाणां वा वेत्तारं विविचिं विवेचकं सदसतोः रत्नधातमं रमणीयानां धनानां दातृतमं गुहा गुहायामरण्यां हृदयेषु वा सन्तं सर्वदा वर्तमानं विश्वदर्शतं सर्वैः द्रष्टव्यं तुविष्वणसं प्रभूतध्वनिं सुयजं सुष्ठु यष्टारं घृतश्रियं घृतं श्रयन्तम् ॥
The tribes of men praise thee, Agni, who knowest well burnt offerings, the Discerner, lavishest of wealth,
Dwelling in secret, Blest One! visible to all, loud-roaring, skilled in worship, glorified with oil.
Thee, O Agni, the human clans magnify, who knowest (the art of sacrificial) libations, who separatest (what was mixed) 1, the highest bestower of treasures, who, (though) dwelling in secret, O blessed one, (yet) art visible to all, mightily roaring, an excellent sacrificer, shining with ghee.
You, o Agni, do the clans of Manu’s sons invoke as the one knowing priestly offices, discriminating, and best granting treasures,
being in hiding yet visible to all, o you who bring good fortune,
resounding mightily, sacrificing well, and having ghee as your
splendor.
Dich, Agni, der du Beute machst und Schätze schenkst, dich Opferkenner preist der Menschenstämme Lob, Der, reicher, du verborgen doch allsichtbar wirst, und mächtig rauschest, gerne opfernd, fettgeschmückt.
Dich, Agni, berufen die menschlichen Stämme, den Kenner des Opfers, den Prüfenden, den am meisten Belohnenden, allsichtbaren, auch wenn du versteckt bist, du Holder, den Lautrauschenden, gut Opfernden, Schmalzverschönten.
Тебя, о Агни, призывают человеческие племена
Как знатока жертвоприношений, различающего (бога), приносящего самые большие сокровища,
Видного для всех, хотя и спрятанного, о дающий счастье,
Громко шумящего, прекрасно жертвующего, украшенного жиром.
तुवा᳓म् अग्ने धर्णसिं᳓ विश्व᳓धा वयं᳓
गीर्भि᳓र् गृण᳓न्तो न᳓मसो᳓प सेदिम
स᳓ नो जुषस्व समिधानो᳓ अङ्गिरो
देवो᳓ म᳓र्तस्य यश᳓सा सुदीति᳓भिः
हे अग्ने धर्णसिं सर्वस्य धारकं त्वां वयम् आत्रेया वा विश्वधा बहुप्रकारेण गीर्भिर्गृणन्तः स्तुवन्तः नमसा नमस्कारेण उप सेदिम उपसन्ना भवेम । सः त्वं नः अस्मान् जुषस्व सेवस्व धनादिभिः । समिधानः सम्यग्दीप्तो दीप्यमानोऽस्माभिर्हे अङ्गिरः सर्वत्र गन्तरङ्गिरसः पुत्र वा देवः दीप्यमानस्त्वं मर्तस्य यजमानस्य यशसा सुदीतिभिः ज्वालाभिः सह जुषस्व ॥
Ever to thee, O Agni, as exceeding strong have we drawn nigh with songs and reverence singing hymns.
So be thou pleased with us, Angiras! as a God enkindled by the noble with man's goodly light.
Thee, O Agni, the supporter, we always have praised with our songs and have sat down near thee with adoration. Thus being kindled, O Aṅgiras, be pleased with us, as a god through the mortal's brilliant (offering) 1, with thy glorious splendours.
You, o Agni, the steadfast one, have we always approached with homage, singing with our songs.
Being kindled, find pleasure in our (songs), o Aṅgiras—(you) a god (in those) of a mortal—with a glorious (fire?), with your bright lights.
Um dich, o Agni, der du stark bist, sitzen wir mit Liedern preisend mit Verehrung immerdar, Drum sei uns hold, o Angiras, entzündet du, der Gott durch Glanz und hellen Strahl des Sterblichen.
Dir, Agni, dem Ausdauernden, sind wir allezeit mit Preisreden dich preisend unter Verbeugung genaht. Hab an uns deine Freude, o Angiras, wenn entzündet, du der Gott an des Sterblichen ehrender Gabe mit schönem Glanze erglänzend!
К тебе, о Агни, к выносливому, всегда мы
Приближаемся с песнями, воспевая (тебя), с поклонением.
Наслаждайся у нас, когда (ты) зажжен, о Ангирас,
Бог, (награждающий) смертного главным (даром) с яркими вспышками.
तुव᳓म् अग्ने पुरुरू᳓पो विशे᳓-विशे
व᳓यो दधासि प्रत्न᳓था पुरुष्टुत
पुरू᳓णि अ᳓न्ना स᳓हसा वि᳓ राजसि
त्वि᳓षिः सा᳓ ते तित्विषाण᳓स्य ना᳓धृ᳓षे
हे अग्ने त्वं पुरुरूपः सन् विशेविशे सर्वस्मै यजमानाय प्रत्नथा पुराण इव वयः अन्नं दधासि धारयसि । हे पुरुष्टुत बहुभिः स्तुत पुरूणि बहूनि अन्ना अन्नानि चरुपुरोडाशादीनि सहसा बलेन वि राजसि ईश्वरो भवसि स्वीकर्तुम् । तित्विषाणस्य दीप्तस्य ते तव सा प्रसिद्धा त्विषिः दीप्तिः नाधृषे अन्यैरधृष्या भवति ॥
Thou, Agni! multiform, God who art lauded much! givest in every house subsistence as of old.
Thou rulest by thy might o'er food of many a sort: that light of thine when blazing may not be opposed.
Thou, O Agni, manifold-shaped, bestowest vigour on every house in thy ancient way, O much-praised one.! Thou rulest with might over much food. This impetuousness of thine, when thou rushest forward impetuously, is not to be defied.
You, o Agni, with your many forms establish vitality for every clan in your ancient way, o you much praised.
By your strength you rule over many foods. When you have flared, that flare of yours is not to be challenged.
O Agni du, in jedem Haus gestaltenreich, o vielgepriesner, gibst wie früher frische Kraft, Mit Macht gebietest über viele Speisen du; dein Andrang ist unhemmbar, wenn erregt du bist.
Du, Agni, der Vielgestaltige, verleihst jedem Clane Lebenskraft wie ehedem, du Vielgepriesener. Du gebeutst durch deine Macht über viele Speisen. Gegen deinen, des Eifernden, glühenden Eifer ist nicht anzukommen.
Ты, о Агни, (бог) с многими формами каждому племени
Даешь жизненную силу, как издревле, о многопрославленный.
Многими кушаньями правишь ты с помощью силы.
Никому не дерзнуть против твоего неистовства, когда ты неистов.
तुवा᳓म् अग्ने समिधानं᳓ यविष्ठिय
देवा᳓ दूतं᳓ चक्रिरे हव्यवा᳓हनम्
उरुज्र᳓यसं घृत᳓योनिम् आ᳓हुतं
त्वेषं᳓ च᳓क्षुर् दधिरे चोदय᳓न्मति
हे यविष्ठ्य युवतम अग्ने समिधानं सम्यगिध्यमानं त्वां हव्यवाहनं हविषां वोढारं दूतं चक्रिरे कृतवन्तः देवाः । त्रयाणामग्नीनां मध्ये हव्यवाहनः खलु पूर्वं देवैर्हविर्वहनाय दूतः कृतः । ‘ हव्यवाहनो देवानाम् ' (तै. सं. २. ५. ८.६) इति हि श्रुतिः । किंच उरुज्रयसं प्रभूतवेगं घृतयोनिम् । घृतं योनिः कारणं यस्य तम् । आहुतं त्वां चोदयन्मति । चोदयन्ती मतिर्यस्य तच्चोदयन्मति । त्वेषं दीप्तं चक्षुः उक्तलक्षणं सर्वप्रकाशकं चक्षुःस्थानीयं कृत्वा दधिरे देवा मनुष्याश्च । मत्या हि चक्षुश्चोद्यते ॥
The Gods, Most Youthful Agni, have made thee, inflamed, the bearer of oblations and the messenger.
Thee, widely-reaching, homed in sacred oil, invoked, effulgent, have they made the Eye that stirs the thought.
Thee, O Agni, when kindled, O youngest one, the gods have made their messenger and bearer of oblations. Thee who extendest over wide spaces, who dwellest in ghee, into whom offerings are poured, they have made their eye, impetuous, stirring thoughts.
You, o Agni, o youngest one, did the gods make their messenger, the conveyor of the oblations, when you were kindled.
They have established you of wide expanse, having your birthplace in ghee, anointed (with ghee), as the flaring eye that propels thought.
Dich, den entflammten, machte sich die Götterschar zum Boten, jüngster Agni, der die Opfer fährt, Der weit sich dehnt, beträufelt Fett im Schoosse birgt, zum hellen Auge dich, der du den Geist belebst.
Dich, den Entzündeten, du jüngster Agni, haben die Götter zu ihrem Boten und Opferfahrer gemacht. Den Breitbahnigen, Schmalzgebetteten, mit Schmalz Begossenen haben sie zum funkelnden Auge, das die Gedanken weckt, gemacht.
Тебя, о Агни, зажженного, о самый юный,
Боги сделали вестником, увозящим жертвы.
(Бога) с широким охватом, с лоном из жира, политого (жертвенным возлиянием),
Они установили как сверкающий глаз, вдохновляющий на молитвы.
तुवा᳓म् अग्ने प्रदि᳓व आ᳓हुतं घृतइः᳓
सुम्नाय᳓वः सुषमि᳓धा स᳓म् ईधिरे
स᳓ वावृधान᳓ ओ᳓षधीभिर् उक्षितो᳓
अभि᳓ ज्र᳓यांसि पा᳓र्थिवा वि᳓ तिष्ठसे
हे अग्ने घृतैः आहुतं त्वां प्रदिवः पुरातनाः सुम्नायवः सुखमिच्छन्तो यजमानाः सुषमिधा शोभनेन इध्मेन समीधिरे सम्यक् दीपितवन्तः । सः त्वं वावृधानः वर्धमानः ओषधीभिः उक्षितः सिक्तः ज्रयांसि अन्नानि पार्थिवा पार्थिवान् वृक्षान् । यद्वा । पार्थिवेति ज्रयोविशेषणम् । पार्थिवानि चरुपुरोडाशादिकानि अभि वि तिष्ठसे अभिव्यज्य वर्तसे ॥ ॥ २६ ॥
Men seeking joy have lit thee worshipped from of old, O Agni, with good fuel and with sacred oil.
So thou, bedewed and waxing mighty by the plants, spreadest thyself abroad over the realms of earth.
Thee, O Agni, on whom offerings of ghee are poured, (men) desirous of thy favour have kindled from of old with good fuel. Thus, grown strong, increased by the plants, thou spreadest thyself over the terrestrial spaces.
You, o Agni, anointed with ghee from of old, have those seeking your favor kindled with good kindling.
Having become fully grown and increased by the plants, you spread over the earthly expanses.
Dich Agni haben huldbegier'ge einst entflammt, mit schönem Brennholz und mit Butter dich getränkt; Wenn durch die Pflanzen du erwachsend aufwärts steigst, verbreitest du dich weithin durch der Erde Raum.
Dich, Agni, den seit langem mit Schmalz Begossenen haben sie um Gunst bittend mit gutem Brennholz angezündet. Erstarkt, durch die Pflanzen groß geworden, verbreitest du dich über die irdischen Bahnen.
Тебя, о Агни, от века политого струями жира,
Они зажгли прекрасными дровами, прося о (твоей) милости.
Усилившись, став большим от растений,
Ты распространяешься по земным просторам.
