ऋषिभरद्वाजो बार्हस्पत्यः

इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ महि॒ तद्वां॑ महि॒त्वं यु॒वं म॒हानि॑ प्रथ॒मानि॑ चक्रथुः । यु॒वं सूर्यं॑ विवि॒दथु॑र्यु॒वं स्व१॒॑र्विश्वा॒ तमां॑स्यहतं नि॒दश्च॑ ॥
इन्द्रा॑सोमा । महि॑ । तत् । वा॒म् । म॒हि॒ऽत्वम् । यु॒वम् । म॒हानि॑ । प्र॒थ॒मानि॑ । च॒क्र॒थुः॒ । यु॒वम् । सूर्य॑म् । वि॒वि॒दथुः॑ । यु॒वम् । स्वः॑ । विश्वा॑ । तमां॑सि । अ॒ह॒त॒म् । नि॒दः । च॒ ॥
इन्द्रासोमा हे इन्द्रासोमौ वां युवयोः तत् महित्वं महत्त्वं महि महत् । किं तदित्यत आह । युवं युवां महानि महान्ति प्रथमानि प्रतमानि मुख्यानि वा भूतानि । ‘ प्रथम इति मुख्यनाम प्रतमो भवति' ( निरु. २:२२ ) इति यास्कः । चक्रथुः अकार्ष्टम् । किंच युवं युवां सूर्यं विविदथुः अलम्भयतं च जनान् । युवं युवां स्वः उदकं च विविदथुः । ‘ हेम स्वः' इत्युदकनामसु पाठात् । अपि च विश्वा विश्वानि तमांसि निदश्च निन्दितॄनसुरांश्च अहतम् अहिंस्तम् ॥
“Great, Indra and Soma, is that your greatness, for you have made great and principal (beings); you have made known (to men) Sūrya and the waters; you have dissipated the glooms and (desroyed) the revilers.”
GREAT is this might of yours, Indra and Soma: the first high exploits were your own achievements.
Ye found the Sun ye found the light of heaven: ye killed all darkness and the Gods' blasphemers.
Indra and Soma, great is this greatness of you two. You did the first great things:
you found the sun; you found the sunlight; you smashed away all the shades of darkness—and the scorners.
Gross, Indra-Soma, ist dies euer Machtwerk; ihr habt vollbracht die ersten grossen Thaten; Ihr fandet auf die Sonne, ihr den Himmel, ihr schluget alles Dunkel und die Schmäher.
Indra und Soma! Dies ist eure gewaltige Größe: Ihr habt die ersten großen Taten getan; ihr fandet die Sonne, ihr das Himmelslicht; alle Finsternis habt ihr verjagt und die Schmäher.
О Индра-Сома, велико это наше величие:
Вы двое совершили первые великие (деяния),
Вы нашли солнце, вы (нашли) небесный свет,
Вы уничтожили весь мрак и хулителей.
इन्द्रा॑सोमा वा॒सय॑थ उ॒षास॒मुत्सूर्यं॑ नयथो॒ ज्योति॑षा स॒ह । उप॒ द्यां स्क॒म्भथु॒: स्कम्भ॑ने॒नाप्र॑थतं पृथि॒वीं मा॒तरं॒ वि ॥
इन्द्रा॑सोमा । वा॒सय॑थः । उ॒षस॑म् । उत् । सूर्य॑म् । न॒य॒थः॒ । ज्योति॑षा । स॒ह । उप॑ । द्याम् । स्क॒म्भथुः॑ । स्कम्भ॑नेन । अप्र॑थतम् । पृ॒थि॒वीम् । मा॒तर॑म् । वि ॥
इन्द्रासोमा हे इन्द्रासोमौ उषसं वासयथः विवासयथः । उषसं व्युच्छन्तीं कारयथ इत्यर्थः । किंच सूर्यं ज्योतिषा तेजसा सह उत् नयथः । अपि च द्यां दिवं स्कम्भनेन स्तम्भन हेतुनान्तरिक्षेण मध्ये स्थापितेन उप स्कम्भथुः अस्तम्भयतम् । मातरं विश्वस्य मातृभूतां पृथिवीं वि अप्रथतं व्यप्रथयतम् ॥
“Indra and Soma, you have led on the dawns; you have upraised the sun with his splendour, you have propped up the sky with he supporting pillar (of the firmament); you have spread out the earth, the mother (of all).”
Ye, Indra-Soma, gave her light to Morning, and led the Sun on high with all his splendour.
Ye stayed the heaven with a supporting pillar, and spread abroad apart, the Earth, the Mother.
Indra and Soma, you make the dawn shine; you lead the sun upward with its light.
You propped up the heaven with a prop; you spread out Mother Earth.
Das Morgenroth erhellt ihr, Indra-Soma, und führt herauf mit ihrem Licht die Sonne, Den Himmel stütztet ihr mit fester Stütze und dehntet weithin aus die Mutter Erde.
Indra und Soma! Ihr lasset die Morgenröte aufleuchten, ihr führet die Sonne mit ihrem Lichte herauf. Ihr habt den Himmel mit einer Stütze gestützt; ihr habt die Mutter Erde weit ausgebreitet.
О Индра-Сома, вы зажигаете утреннюю зарю,
Вы ведете вверх солнце с (его) светом.
Вы укрепили небо креплением,
Вы широко простерли мать-землю.
इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒वहि॑म॒पः प॑रि॒ष्ठां ह॒थो वृ॒त्रमनु॑ वां॒ द्यौर॑मन्यत । प्रार्णां॑स्यैरयतं न॒दीना॒मा स॑मु॒द्राणि॑ पप्रथुः पु॒रूणि॑ ॥
इन्द्रा॑सोमौ । अहि॑म् । अ॒पः । प॒रि॒ऽस्थाम् । ह॒थः । वृ॒त्रम् । अनु॑ । वा॒म् । द्यौः । अ॒म॒न्य॒त॒ । प्र । अर्णां॑सि । ऐ॒र॒य॒त॒म् । न॒दीना॑म् । आ । स॒मु॒द्राणि॑ । प॒प्र॒थुः॒ । पु॒रूणि॑ ॥
हे इन्द्रासोमौ अहिं जगत आहन्तारम् अपः मेघस्थान्युदकानि परिष्ठां परिवृत्य स्थितं वृत्रम् असुरं हथः हतम् । तदानीं द्यौः वां युवाम् अनु अमन्यत । किंच नदीनाम् अर्णांसि उदकानि प्र ऐरयतम् । पुरूणि बहूनि । ‘तुवि पुरु' इति बहुनामसु पाठात् । समुद्राणि उदकस्थानानि आ पप्रथुः उदकैरापूरयतं च । अथवा समुन्दन्तीत्युदकान्येव समुद्राणि । तानि रसेनापूरयतमित्यर्थः । तथा च यास्कः - ‘ समुद्रः कस्मात्समुद्द्रवन्त्यस्मादापः समभिद्रवन्त्येनमापः संमोदन्तेऽस्मिन्भूतानि समुदको भवति समुनत्तीति वा ' (निरु. २.१०) इति ॥
“Indra and Soma, you slew Ahi and Vṛtra; the obstructer of the water; for which the heaven venerates you both; you have urged on the waters of the rivers until they have replenished numerous oceans.”
Ye slew the flood -obstructing serpent Vrtra, Indra and Soma: Heaven approved your exploit.
Ye urged to speed the currents of the rivers, and many seas have ye filled full with waters.
Indra and Soma, you smash the serpent surrounding the waters—Vr̥tra. Heaven gave consent to you.
You roused forth the floods of the rivers; you filled the many (floods) of the sea.
Den Drachen Vritra, der die Flut umstanden, schlugt, Indra-Soma, ihr, der Himmel jauchzte; Der Ströme Wogen liesst ihr vorwärts rinnen und liesset viele Meeresfluten schwellen.
Indra und Soma! Ihr erschlaget den Drachen, der die Gewässer umstellt, den Vritra. Der Himmel gab euch die Erlaubnis. Ihr setztet die Fluten der Flüsse in Bewegung und viele Meere habt ihr angefüllt.
О Индра-Сома, змея, запрудившего воды,
Вы убиваете – Вритру. Это вам разрешило небо.
Течения рек вы привели в движение,
Сделали широкими многие моря.
इन्द्रा॑सोमा प॒क्वमा॒मास्व॒न्तर्नि गवा॒मिद्द॑धथुर्व॒क्षणा॑सु । ज॒गृ॒भथु॒रन॑पिनद्धमासु॒ रुश॑च्चि॒त्रासु॒ जग॑तीष्व॒न्तः ॥
इन्द्रा॑सोमा । प॒क्वम् । आ॒मासु॑ । अ॒न्तः । नि । गवा॑म् । इत् । द॒ध॒थुः॒ । व॒क्षणा॑सु । ज॒गृ॒भथुः॑ । अन॑पिऽनद्धम् । आ॒सु॒ । रुश॑त् । चि॒त्रासु॑ । जग॑तीषु । अ॒न्तरिति॑ ॥
इन्द्रासोमा हे इन्द्रासोमौ आमासु अपक्वासु गवां वक्षणासु ऊधःसु अन्तः मध्ये पक्वं पयः नि दधथुः । किंच चित्रासु नानावर्णासु आसु जगतीषु गोषु । ‘ इळा जगती इति गोनामसु पाठात् । अन्तः मध्ये अनपिनद्धं केनाप्याबद्धं रुशत् शुक्लवर्णं पयः जगृभथुः । यथा पृथिव्यां स्वयं न क्षरति तथा धारितवन्तावित्यर्थः । इत् इति पूरणः ॥
“Indra and Soma, you have deposited the mature (milk) in the immature udders of the kine; you have retained the white (secretion), although not shut up within those may-coloured cattle.”
Ye in the unripe udders of the milch-kine have set the ripe milk, Indra, thou, and Soma.
Ye have held fast the unimpeded whiteness within these many-coloured moving creatures.
Indra and Soma, you deposited the cooked (milk) within the raw (cows), just in the udders of the cows.
You held the gleaming (milk), (though) it was not tied on, within the dappled, moving (cows).
Die gare Milch, o Indra-Soma, fügtet ihr in die rohen Leiber ein der Kühe, Und hieltet fest die helle, ungebundne im Innern dieser schönen Wandlerinnen.
Indra und Soma! Ihr habt die gekochte Milch in die rohen Bäuche der Kühe gelegt. Ihr haltet die weiße Milch in diesen buntfarbigen weiblichen Tieren fest, ohne sie zuzubinden.
О Индра-Сома, вареное (молоко) в сырые
(Животы) коров вложили вы.
Вы удерживаете, не привязывая (его), белое (молоко)
В этих пестрых самках.
इन्द्रा॑सोमा यु॒वम॒ङ्ग तरु॑त्रमपत्य॒साचं॒ श्रुत्यं॑ रराथे । यु॒वं शुष्मं॒ नर्यं॑ चर्ष॒णिभ्य॒: सं वि॑व्यथुः पृतना॒षाह॑मुग्रा ॥
इन्द्रा॑सोमा । यु॒वम् । अ॒ङ्ग । तरु॑त्रम् । अ॒प॒त्य॒ऽसाच॑म् । श्रुत्य॑म् । र॒रा॒थे॒ इति॑ । यु॒वम् । शुष्म॑म् । नर्य॑म् । च॒र्ष॒णिऽभ्यः॑ । सम् । वि॒व्य॒थुः॒ । पृ॒त॒ना॒ऽसह॑म् । उ॒ग्रा॒ ॥
इन्द्रासोमा हे इन्द्रासोमौ युवं युवां तरुत्रं तारकम् अपत्यसाचं संतानयुक्तं श्रुत्यं श्रवणीयं रयिं धनम् अङ्ग क्षिप्रं रराथे अस्मभ्यं धत्थः । किंच उग्रा हे उद्गूर्णाविन्द्रासोमौ युवं युवां नर्यं नृभ्यो हितं पृतनासहं शत्रुसैन्याभिभावुकं शुष्मं बलं चर्षणिभ्यः मनुष्येभ्यः । ‘कृष्टयः चर्षणयः' इति मनुष्यनामसु पाठात् । सं विव्यथुः समतनुतम् । परिवेष्टयथो वा ॥ ॥१६॥
“Indra and Soma, do you promptly bestow upon us preservative, renowned (riches), accompanied by offspring; for you, fierce (divinities), have disseminated among men, strength, useful to man, victorious over hostile acts.”
Verily ye bestow, Indra and Soma, wealth, famed, victorious, passing to our children.
Ye have invested men, ye Mighty Beings, with manly strength that conquers in the battle.
Indra and Soma, it is you, certainly, who bestowed surpassing (wealth), bringing descendants in its train, worthy of fame.
You made unbridled force, manly and victorious in battle, as cloak for the settled domains, you strong ones.
Ihr, Indra-Soma, ihr allein verliehet siegreiche Kraft, berühmte, kinderreiche, Mannhafte ihr den Menschen, o gewalt'ge, die Kraft verlieht ihr, welche Heere abwehrt.
Indra und Soma! Ihr nur habt den aus Not helfenden, kinderreichen rühmlichen Schatz geschenkt. Ihr habt die Völker mit männlichem Mute umgürtet, der in Schlachten gewinnt, ihr Gewaltige.
О Индра-Сома, только вы (всегда) дарите
Спасительное, сопровождаемое потомством, знаменитое (богатство).
Вы одели народы в мужественную
Отвагу, одолевающую в боях, о грозные.
