आ ते॑ म॒ह इ॑न्द्रो॒त्यु॑ग्र॒ सम॑न्यवो॒ यत्स॒मर॑न्त॒ सेना॑: । पता॑ति दि॒द्युन्नर्य॑स्य बा॒ह्वोर्मा ते॒ मनो॑ विष्व॒द्र्य१॒॑ग्वि चा॑रीत् ॥
आ । ते॒ । म॒हः । इ॒न्द्र॒ । ऊ॒ती । उ॒ग्र॒ । सऽम॑न्यवः । यत् । स॒म्ऽअर॑न्त । सेनाः॑ । पता॑ति । दि॒द्युत् । नर्य॑स्य । बा॒ह्वोः । मा । ते॒ । मनः॑ । वि॒ष्व॒द्र्य॑क् । वि । चा॒री॒त् ॥
हे उग्र उद्गूर्ण ओजस्विन् इन्द्र यत् यदा समन्यवः । समो मन्युरभिमानो वासां ताः समन्यवः । सेनाः समरन्त युध्यन्ते संगच्छन्ते वा तदा नर्यस्य नरहितस्य महः महतः । ते तव बाह्वोः स्थिता दिद्युत् आयुधम् । दिद्युत् हेतिः' इति वज्रनामसु पाठात् । ऊती ऊत्यै अस्मद्रक्षायै आ पताति आपततु । तव विष्वद्र्यक् विष्वग्गन्तृ मनः च मा वि चारीत् अस्मास्वेव स्थिरं भवतु ॥
“Fierce Indra, when animated by like fierce armies, encounter them; let the bright (weapon) wielded bythe arms of you who are mighty and the friend of man descend for our protection; let not your all-pervading mindwander (away from us).”
WHEN with thy mighty help, O potent Indra, the armies rush together in their fury.
When from the strong man's arm the lightning flieth, let not the mind go forth to side with others.
Hitherward be thy might with aid, O dread Indra,
What time the armies meet in combat,
And the arrow flieth from the arms of the strong men;
Let not thine [2] anger spread on every side.
(Be) here with your help, o great strong Indra, when armies equal in battle fury clash together
and the missile in the arms of a manly one will fly. Let your mind not roam widely in other directions.
Zur Hülfe flieg' aus deinen Armen, Indra, dein Blitz herbei, des grossen, kühnen, starken, Wenn gleich an Muth die Heere sich begegnen; nicht gehe fort dein Sinn nach andern Orten.
Dein, des Großen Sinn, strebe her zum Beistand, gewaltiger Indra, wann die Heere von gleichem Eifer beseelt zusammenstoßen. Wenn das Geschoß in den Armen des Tapferen fliegen wird, dann soll dein Sinn nicht nach den entgegengesetzten Seite sich abwenden.
У тебя великого, о грозный Индра, (я стремлюсь покорить мысль) для поддержки (нас),
Когда сталкиваются войска равной ярости.
Вылетит стрела из рук мужественного –
Да не разбредется твоя мысль во все стороны!
नि दु॒र्ग इ॑न्द्र श्नथिह्य॒मित्राँ॑ अ॒भि ये नो॒ मर्ता॑सो अ॒मन्ति॑ । आ॒रे तं शंसं॑ कृणुहि निनि॒त्सोरा नो॑ भर स॒म्भर॑णं॒ वसू॑नाम् ॥
नि । दुः॒ऽगे । इ॒न्द्र॒ । श्न॒थि॒हि॒ । अ॒मित्रा॑न् । अ॒भि । ये । नः॒ । मर्ता॑सः । अ॒मन्ति॑ । आ॒रे । तम् । शंस॑म् । कृ॒णु॒हि॒ । नि॒नि॒त्सोः । आ । नः॒ । भ॒र॒ । स॒म्ऽभर॑णम् । वसू॑नाम् ॥
हे इन्द्र दुर्गे युद्धे ये मर्तासः मर्ताः अभि अभिमुखाः सन्तः नः अस्मान् अमन्ति अभिभवन्ति तान् अमित्रान् शत्रून् नि श्नथिहि निजहि । अपि च निनित्सोः अस्मान्निन्दितुमिच्छतो नरस्य तं शंसम् आशंसनम् आरे दूरे कृणुहि कुरु । अपि च नः अस्मभ्यं वसूनां धनानां संभरणं समूहम् आ भर आहर ॥
“Destroy, Indra, our adversaries in battle, those men who overpower us; remove far from us the calumnyof the reviler; bring to us abundance of treasures.”
O Indra, where the ground is hard to traverse, smite down our foes, the mortals who assail us,
Keep far from us the curse of the reviler: bring us accumulated store of treasures.
Indra, jab the foes down into a place of no exit—the mortals who plague us.
Put the “laud” of the one intending scorn in the distance. Bring here to us an assemblage of goods.
In schwerer Noth durchbohr die Feinde, Indra, die Sterblichen, die stürmend uns bedrängen; Den Fluch des Neiders schaff in weite Ferne und führ uns zu die Fülle deiner Güter.
Indra! Stoß die Feinde im Engweg nieder, die Sterblichen, die uns bedrängen. Schlag das Lob des Tadelsüchtigen in den Wind! Bring uns einen Haufen Güter mit!
В узком проходе столкни недругов, о Индра,
(Тех,) что наступают на нас!
Прочь отбрось эту хвалу желающего оскорбить (нас)!
Принеси нам массу благ!
श॒तं ते॑ शिप्रिन्नू॒तय॑: सु॒दासे॑ स॒हस्रं॒ शंसा॑ उ॒त रा॒तिर॑स्तु । ज॒हि वध॑र्व॒नुषो॒ मर्त्य॑स्या॒स्मे द्यु॒म्नमधि॒ रत्नं॑ च धेहि ॥
श॒तम् । ते॒ । शि॒प्रि॒न् । ऊ॒तयः॑ । सु॒ऽदासे॑ । स॒हस्र॑म् । शंसाः॑ । उ॒त । रा॒तिः । अ॒स्तु॒ । ज॒हि । वधः॑ । व॒नुषः॑ । मर्त्य॑स्य्स् । अ॒स्मे इति॑ । द्यु॒म्नम् । अधि॑ । रत्न॑म् । च॒ । धे॒हि॒ ॥
हे शिप्रिन् उष्णीषिन्निन्द्र ते त्वदीयाः शतं बह्यः ी ऊतयः रक्षाः सुदासे शोभनदानाय मह्यं सन्तु । सहस्रं शंसाः शंसनीयाः कामाश्च सन्तु। उत अपि च रातिः धनम् अस्तु । वनुषः हिंसकस्य मर्त्यस्य वधः हिंसासाधनमायुधं च जहि । अपि च अस्मे अधि अस्मासु द्युम्नं दीप्तिमदन्नं यशो वा रत्नं च धेहि। तथा च यास्कः- द्युम्नं द्योततेर्यशो वान्नं वा । अस्मे द्युम्नमधि रत्नं च धेहि । अस्मासु द्युम्नं च रत्नं च धेहि' (निरु. ५. ५) इति ॥
“May hundreds of your protections, handsome-chinned, be (secured) to the liberal donor (of oblations);may thousands of blessing be bestowed (upon me) as well as wealth; cast the fatal weapon on the mischievousmortal; grant us food and wealth.”
God of the fair helm, give Sudas a hundred succours, a thousand blessings, and thy bounty.
Strike down the weapon of our mortal foeman: bestow upon us splendid fame and riches.
Let there be a hundred forms of your help for Sudās, you of the (lovely) lips, a thousand your lauds and giving.
Smash the weapon of the rapacious mortal. Set brilliance and treasure upon us.
Dem Sudas schenk als Gabe hundert Hülfen und tausend Hulden, du mit schönem Helme; Die Todeswaffe wehre ab des Feindes, und uns verleihe dauernd Glanz und Reichthum.
Hundert Hilfen hast du für den freigebigen Sudas, den Lippenspitzer, tausendfach soll dein Lob und deine Schenkung sein. Schlage die Waffe des neidischen Sterblichen fort! Auf uns häufe Glanz und Kleinode!

त्वाव॑तो॒ ही॑न्द्र॒ क्रत्वे॒ अस्मि॒ त्वाव॑तोऽवि॒तुः शू॑र रा॒तौ । विश्वेदहा॑नि तविषीव उग्रँ॒ ओक॑: कृणुष्व हरिवो॒ न म॑र्धीः ॥
त्वाऽव॑तः । हि । इ॒न्द्र॒ । क्रत्वे॑ । अस्मि॑ । त्वाऽव॑तः । अ॒वि॒तुः । शू॒र॒ । रा॒तौ । विश्वा॑ । इत् । अहा॑नि । त॒वि॒षी॒ऽवः॒ । उ॒ग्र॒ । ओकः॑ । कृ॒णु॒ष्व॒ । ह॒रि॒ऽवः॒ । न । म॒र्धीः॒ ॥
हे इन्द्र त्वावतः त्वत्सदृशस्य क्रत्वे कर्मणे अस्मि भवामि हि । हे शूर अवितुः विश्वस्य रक्षितुः त्वावतः त्वत्सदृशस्य रातौ दाने चास्मीति शेषः। हे तविषीवः बलवन् उग्र ओजस्विन्निन्द्र विश्वेत् विश्वान्येव अहानि ओकः अस्माकं स्थानं कृणुष्व कुरु। हे हरिवः हरिवन् न मर्धीः अस्मान्न हिंस्याः ॥
“I am (in dependence), Indra, upon the acts of such as you are, upon the liberality of a protector, hero,such as you; vigorous and fierce Indra, give us a dwelling for all our days; lord of bay steeds, do us no harm.”
I wait the power of one like thee, O Indra, gifts of a Helper such as thou art, Hero.
Strong, Mighty God, dwell with me now and ever: Lord of Bay Horses, do not thou desert us.
Because I am within (the sphere of) the will of one like you, o Indra; within (the sphere of) the giving of a helper like you, o champion,
for all your days, o powerful strong one, make a home for yourself
(here), o you of the fallow bays. Do not neglect (us).914 VII.26
Denn solchem Gott, wie du, bin ich zu Willen, o Held, in solches Helfers Gunst, wie du bist; Ja, alle Tage, o gewalt'ger, starker, erweise Huld, nicht säume, Füchselenker.
Denn einem gleich dir, Indra, bin ich zu Willen und der Schenkung eines Gönners gleich dir gewärtig, o Held. Alle Tage, du Starker, Gewaltiger, laß dich häuslich nieder, o Falbenlenker; verschmäh uns nicht!
Ведь я завишу, о Индра, от воли такого, как ты,
От щедрости такого, как ты, покровителя, о герой.
Все дни, о сильный, грозный,
Удобно устраивайся (у нас), о хозяин буланых коней! Не оставь (нас)!
कुत्सा॑ ए॒ते हर्य॑श्वाय शू॒षमिन्द्रे॒ सहो॑ दे॒वजू॑तमिया॒नाः । स॒त्रा कृ॑धि सु॒हना॑ शूर वृ॒त्रा व॒यं तरु॑त्राः सनुयाम॒ वाज॑म् ॥
कुत्सा॑ । ए॒ते । हर्यि॑ऽअश्वाय । शू॒षम् । इन्द्रे॑ । सहः॑ । दे॒वऽजू॑तम् । इ॒या॒नाः । स॒त्रा । कृ॒धि॒ । सु॒ऽहना॑ । शू॒र॒ । वृ॒त्रा । व॒यम् । तरु॑त्राः । स॒नु॒या॒म॒ । वाज॑म् ॥
एते वयं वसिष्ठाः हर्यश्वाय हरिनामकाश्वायेन्द्राय शूषं सुखकरं स्तोत्रं कुत्साः कुर्वाणाः । करोतेः कुत्सशब्दनिष्पत्तिः । इन्द्रे देवजूतं देवैः प्रेरितं सहः बलम् इयानाः याचमानाः तरुत्राः दुर्गाणि तीर्णाः सन्तः वाजं बलं सनुयाम लभेमहि । अपि च हे शूर वृत्रा वृत्राणि शत्रून् सुहना हन्तुं सुशकानि सत्रा सर्वदा कृधि कुरु ॥
“These (Vasiṣṭhas) are offering grateful (adoration) to the lord of bay steeds, soliciting the strengthassigned by the gods to Indra; make our enemies, Indra, easy to be overcome, and may we, safe from peril,enjoy abundance.”
Here are the Kutsas supplicating Indra for might, the Lord of Bays for God-sent conquest.
Make our foes ever easy to be vanquished: may we, victorious, win the spoil, O Hero.
The Kutsas are those (who chant) a fortifying (hymn) to the one of the fallow bays, begging for the god-sped might in Indra.
Make the obstacles utterly easy to smash, o champion. May we,
victorious, win spoils.
Um Stärkung flehn den Indra diese Kutsa's, um gotterregte Kraft den Füchselenker; Lass stets, o Held, uns leicht die Feinde schlagen, und siegreich lasse Beute uns erlangen.
Diese Kutsa´s haben dem Falbenfahrer ein anfeuerndes Lied gesungen, bei Indra um gottgesandten Sieg bittend. Mach die Feinde auf einmal leicht zu erschlagen, o Held. Wir möchten als die Überlegenen den Siegespreis gewinnen.
Эти (люди) из рода Кутсы (исполнили) воинственную песнь повелителю буланых коней,
Прося у Индры возбужденной богом силы.
Сделай, о герой, врагов сразу легкоубиваемыми!
Победоносные, мы хотели бы завоевать награду!
ए॒वा न॑ इन्द्र॒ वार्य॑स्य पूर्धि॒ प्र ते॑ म॒हीं सु॑म॒तिं वे॑विदाम । इषं॑ पिन्व म॒घव॑द्भ्यः सु॒वीरां॑ यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभि॒: सदा॑ नः ॥
ए॒व । नः॒ । इ॒न्द्र॒ । वार्य॑स्य । पू॒र्धि॒ । प्र । ते॒ । म॒हीम् । सु॒ऽम॒तिम् । वे॒वि॒दा॒म॒ । इष॑म् । पि॒न्व॒ । म॒घव॑त्ऽभ्यः । सु॒ऽवीरा॑म् । यू॒यम् । पा॒त॒ । स्व॒स्तिऽभिः॑ । सदा॑ । नः॒ ॥
इयं व्याख्यातचरा ॥ ६ ॥नसोमइन्द्रमिति पञ्चर्चं नवमं सूक्तं वसिष्ठस्यार्षं त्रैष्टुभमैन्द्रं तथाचानुक्रम्यते-नसोमः पञ्चेति । महाव्रते उक्तोविनियोगः ।
“In this manner, Indra, satisfy us with the gift of desirable (wealth); may we repeatedly experience yourgreat favour; bestow upon us who are opulent in offerings food with male descendants; do you ever cherish uswith blessings.”
With precious things, O Indra, thus content us: may we attain to thine exalted favour.
Send our chiefs plenteous food with hero children. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
Just so, Indra, give to us of what is choice. May we continually procure your great benevolence.
Swell nourishment rich in heroes for the bounteous ones [=patrons]. – Do you protect us always with your blessings.
So, Indra, fülle uns mit schöner Gabe; erlangen lass uns deine grosse Güte; Den Fürsten schenke männerreiche Labung; ihr Götter, schützt uns stets mit eurem Segen.
Also gib uns, Indra, vom Besten mit vollen Händen! Wir möchten deine große Gunst erfahren. Gib den Lohnherren die Freude guter Söhne vollauf! - Behütet ihr uns immerdar mit eurem Segen!
Так наполни нас, Индра, лучшим богатством!
Мы очень хотели бы получить твою великую благосклонность!
Для щедрых покровителей сделай набухшей радость от прекрасных сыновей!
Защищайте вы нас всегда (своими) милостями!
