आपो॒ यं व॑: प्रथ॒मं दे॑व॒यन्त॑ इन्द्र॒पान॑मू॒र्मिमकृ॑ण्वते॒ळः । तं वो॑ व॒यं शुचि॑मरि॒प्रम॒द्य घृ॑त॒प्रुषं॒ मधु॑मन्तं वनेम ॥
आपः॑ । यम् । वः॒ । प्र॒थ॒मम् । द॒व॒ऽयन्तः॑ । इ॒न्द्र॒ऽपान॑म् । ऊ॒र्मिम् । अकृ॑ण्वत । इ॒ळः । तम् । वः॒ । व॒यम् । शुचि॑म् । अ॒रि॒प्रम् । अ॒द्य । घृ॒त॒ऽप्रुष॑म् । मधु॑ऽमन्तम् । व॒ने॒म॒ ॥
देवयन्तः देवानिच्छन्तोऽध्वर्यवः हे आपः हे अब्देवताः वः युष्माकं कार्यभूतम् इन्द्रपानम् इन्द्रेण पातव्यम् इळः इळायाः भूम्याः संभूतं यम् ऊर्मिं सोमाख्यं यं रसं प्रथम पुरा अकृण्वत अभिषवणपवनादिभिः समस्कुर्वत अद्य इदानीं वयम् अपि वः युष्मदीयं तम् ऊर्मिं वनेम संभजेमहि । कीदृशम् । शुचिं शुद्धम् अरिप्रं पापरहितं घृतप्रुषं वृष्टिलक्षणमुदकं सिञ्चन्तं मधुमन्तं मधुररसोपेतम् । एवंभूतं तं वनेमेति संबन्धः ॥
“We solicit from you, Waters, today, that pure, faultless, rain- shedding, sweet essence of the earth,which devout have first consecrated as the Soma for Indra.”
MAY we obtain this day from you, O Waters, that wave of pure refreshment, which the pious
Made erst the special beverage of Indra, bright, stainless, rich in sweets and dropping fatness.
O Waters, your wave of refreshments that those devoted to the gods made Indra’s first drink—
it, gleaming and unbesmirched, showering ghee and filled with honey, might we win today.
O Wasser, welche Welle euch die Frommen zum Labetrunk zuerst dem Indra machten, Die reine lautre lasst uns heut verehren, die honigsüsse Welle, die von Fett trieft.
Ihr Gewässer, eure Woge, die zuerst die Gottergebenen für Indra zu einem Trank der Labe machten, diese reine, lautere, schmalztriefende, süße, möchten wir heute von euch gewinnen.
О воды, (та) ваша волна, которую первой (люди,) преданные богам,
Сделали пригодной Индре для питья, (волна) жертвенного возлияния,
Ее чистую, беспорочную, брызжущую жиром, пропитанную сладостью,
Сегодня мы хотим у вас добыть.
तमू॒र्मिमा॑पो॒ मधु॑मत्तमं वो॒ऽपां नपा॑दवत्वाशु॒हेमा॑ । यस्मि॒न्निन्द्रो॒ वसु॑भिर्मा॒दया॑ते॒ तम॑श्याम देव॒यन्तो॑ वो अ॒द्य ॥
तम् । ऊ॒र्मिम् । आ॒पः॒ । मधु॑मत्ऽतमम् । वः॒ । अ॒पाम् । नपा॑त् । अ॒व॒तु॒ । आ॒शु॒ऽहेमा॑ । यस्मि॑न् । इन्द्रः॑ । वसु॑ऽभिः । मा॒दया॑ते । तम् । अ॒श्या॒म॒ । दे॒व॒ऽयन्तः॑ । वः॒ । अ॒द्य ॥
हे आपः एतत्संज्ञका देवाः वः युष्मदीयं मधुमत्तमं रसवत्तमं तमूर्मिं प्रसिद्धं सोमाख्यं रसम् आशुहेमा शीघ्रगतिः अपां नपात् एतदाख्यो देवः अवतु पालयतु । इन्द्रः यस्मिन् ऊर्मौ वसुभिः वासकैर्देवैः सह मादयाते माद्येत् अद्य अस्मिन् दिने देवयन्तः देवकामा वयं वः युष्मदीयं तम् ऊर्मिम् अश्याम प्राप्नुयाम ॥
“May the swift-moving grandson of the Waters protect, Waters, your most sweet essence, wherewiḥ mayIndra and the Vasus be delighted; and may we, devoted to the gods, partake (of it).”
May the Floods' Offspring, he whose course is rapid, protect that wave most rich in sweets, O Waters,
That shall make Indra and the Vasus joyful. This may we gain from you to-day, we pious.
That wave of yours, o Waters, most filled with honey—let the Child of the Waters who impels swift (horses) help it.
That on which Indra, along with the Vasus, will bring himself to
exhilaration, that one of yours might we, seeking the gods, attain today.
O Wasser, eure honigreichste Welle beschütz der Wasser Sohn, der Rossetreiber, An der mit Vasu's Indra sich berausche, die mögen wir, die frommen, heut erlangen.
Diese eure süßeste Woge, ihr Gewässer, soll Apam Napat, der Rossetreiber betreuen, an der sich Indra mit den Vasu´s gütlich tun möge, diese möchten wir Gottergebenen heute von euch erlangen.
К этой волне, о воды, самой сладостной у вас,
Пусть благоволит Апам Напат, погонщик быстрых коней!
(Волна,) которой Индра опьяняется вместе с Васу,
Ее мы хотим получить у вас сегодня, (мы,) преданные богам.
श॒तप॑वित्राः स्व॒धया॒ मद॑न्तीर्दे॒वीर्दे॒वाना॒मपि॑ यन्ति॒ पाथ॑: । ता इन्द्र॑स्य॒ न मि॑नन्ति व्र॒तानि॒ सिन्धु॑भ्यो ह॒व्यं घृ॒तव॑ज्जुहोत ॥
श॒तऽप॑वित्राः । स्व॒धया॑ । मद॑न्तीः । दे॒वीः । दे॒वाना॑म् । अपि॑ । य॒न्ति॒ । पाथः॑ । ताः । इन्द्र॑स्य । न । मि॒न॒न्ति॒ । व्र॒तानि॑ । सिन्धु॑ऽभ्यः । ह॒व्यम् । घृ॒तऽव॑त् । जु॒हो॒त॒ ॥
शतपवित्राः शतं बडूनि पवित्राणि पावनानि रूपाणि यासां ताः स्वधया स्वकार्यभूतेनान्नेन मदन्तीः जनान् मादयन्त्यः देवीः देव्यो द्योतमाना आपः देवानाम् इन्द्रादीनां पाथः स्थानम् अपि यन्ति प्रविशन्ति । ताः तादृश्य आपः इन्द्रस्य प्रीणनानि व्रतानि यज्ञादीनि कर्माणि न मिनन्ति न हिंसन्ति । उत्पादयन्तीत्यर्थः । हे अध्वर्यवः यूयं सिन्धुभ्यः ताभ्योऽद्भ्यः घृतवत् उपस्तरणाभिघारणलक्षणाज्ययुक्तं हव्यं पुरोडाशादिकं हविः जुहोत जुहुत ॥
“The divine Waters, the purifiers of many, gratifying men with food, pursue the paths of the gods; theyimpede not the sacred rites of Indra; offer, (priests), the butter-charged oblation to the rivers.”
All-purifying, joying in their nature, to paths of Gods the Goddesses move onward.
They never violate the laws of Indra. Present the oil-rich offering to the Rivers.
Possessing a hundred filters, delighting in their independent power, the goddesses [=Waters] merge into the fold of the gods.
They do not confound the commandments of Indra. To the rivers pour an oblation filled with ghee.
Die lustig sprudeln, hundertfach gereinigt, Göttinnen gehn sie auf der Götter Strasse, Die nicht des Indra Satzungen verletzen, den Strömen giesset butterreichen Guss zu.
Durch hundert Filter laufend, sich ihrer Lebenskraft freuend gehen die Göttlichen ein in den Schutz der Götter. Nicht übertreten sie Indra´s Gebote. Den Flüssen opfert ein schmalzreiches Opfer!
(Проходя) через сотню фильтров, радуясь по своему обычаю,
Богини вливаются в обитель богов.
Они не нарушают заветов Индры.
Возлейте жирное возлияние рекам!
याः सूर्यो॑ र॒श्मिभि॑रात॒तान॒ याभ्य॒ इन्द्रो॒ अर॑दद्गा॒तुमू॒र्मिम् । ते सि॑न्धवो॒ वरि॑वो धातना नो यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभि॒: सदा॑ नः ॥
याः । सूर्यः॑ । र॒श्मिऽभिः॑ । आ॒ऽत॒तान॑ । याभ्यः॑ । इन्द्रः॑ । अर॑दत् । गा॒तुम् । ऊ॒र्मिम् । ते । सि॒न्ध॒वः॒ । वरि॑वः । धा॒त॒न॒ । नः॒ । यू॒यम् । पा॒त॒ । स्व॒स्तिऽभिः॑ । सदा॑ । नः॒ ॥
सूर्यः देवः याः अपः रश्मिभिः स्वकीयैः किरणैः आततान विस्तारयति । सूर्यो हि रश्मिभिरुदकसारमादाय वर्षतीत्यर्थः । याभ्यः अद्भ्यश्च ऊर्मिम् । अर्तेरिदं रूपम् गमनयोग्यं गातुं मेघेभ्यो निर्गमनसाधनं मार्गम् इन्द्रः अपि अरदत् वज्रेण मेघांस्ताडयन् प्रयच्छति हे सिन्धवः आपः ते यूयं नः अस्मभ्यं वरिवः धनं धातन धत्त प्रयच्छत । ते इति सिन्धुशब्देन समानाधिकरणत्वात् पुंलिङ्गत्वम् । हे अब्देवताः यूयं सर्वदा नः अस्मान् कल्याणैः पालयत ॥१४॥
“Waters, whom the sun has evaporized by his rays, for whom Indra has opened a path by which toissue, bestow upon us wealth; and do you (also) ever cherish us with blessings.”
Whom Surya with his bright beams hath attracted, and Indra dug the path for them to travel,
May these Streams give us ample room and freedom. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
Toward whom the sun has stretched out with its rays, for whom Indra has dug out a way, a wave,
do you, o Rivers, provide wide space for us. – Do you protect us always with your blessings.
Die ihr durchstrahlt seid von der Sonne Lichtern, und denen Indra weite Bahn gebrochen, O schaffet ihr uns weiten Raum, ihr Ströme, ihr Götter, schützt uns stets mit eurem Segen.
Über welche die Sonne dich mit ihren Strahlen ausgedehnt hat, denen Indra die Bahn furchte, die Woge: ihr Ströme macht uns freie Bahn!-Behütet uns immerdar mit eurem Segen!
Над кем Сурья протянулся (своими) лучами,
Кому Индра пробуравил путь, (подняв) волну,
Вы, о реки, создайте нам широкий простор!
Защищайте вы нас всегда (своими) милостями!
