ऋषिनाभाकः काण्वः
देवताइन्द्राग्नी
मन्त्र12
छन्दमहापङ्क्तिः
इ᳓न्द्रअग्नी युवं᳓ सु᳓ नः
स᳓हन्ता दा᳓सथो रयि᳓म्
ये᳓न दॄळ्हा᳓+ सम᳓त्सु आ᳓
वीळु᳓ चित् साहिषीम᳓हि
अग्नि᳓र् व᳓नेव वा᳓त इ᳓न्
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
हे इन्द्राग्नी सहन्ता शत्रूनभिभवन्तौ युवं युवां नः अस्मभ्यं रयिं धनं सुष्ठु दासथः दत्तम् । तं रयिं विशिनष्टि। येन रयिणा समत्सु चित् संग्रामे दृढा चित् दृढानि स्थिराण्यपि वीळु शत्रुबलानि अग्निर्वनेव यथाग्निर्वनानि वात इत् वातेनैवाभिभवति तथा सहिषीमहि अभिभवाम । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
INDRA and Agni, surely ye as Conquerors will give us wealth,
Whereby in fight we may o'ercome that which is strong and firmly fixed, as Agni burns the woods with wind. Let all the others die away.
O Indra and Agni, victorious ones—you two will give us wealth,
by which we might become victorious over the strongholds, even the firm ones, in the combats,
as Agni (is victorious) over the woods especially when there is wind.
– Let all the other squirts burst!
O Indra-Agni gebet uns, ihr starken Sieger, Schätze bald, Durch die im Kampf bezwingen wir, was fest und unbeweglich ist, wie Holz das Feuer windbewegt. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Indra und Agni, ihr Bezwinger möget uns fein einen Schatz schenken, durch den wir in den Kämpfen das Wohlverschlossene, auch das Feste bezwingen können wie das Feuer im Sturmwind die Wälder. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
О Индра-Агни, вы хотите нам прекрасно
Дать, о победоносные, богатство,
С помощью которого мы смогли бы одолеть
В боях даже прочные твердыни,
Подобно тому как Агни (сжигает) деревья на ветру.
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!
नहि᳓ वां वव्र᳓यामहे᳓
अथे᳓न्द्रम् इ᳓द् यजामहे
श᳓विष्ठं नॄणां᳐᳓+ न᳓रम्
स᳓ नः कदा᳓ चिद् अ᳓र्वता
ग᳓मद् आ᳓ वा᳓जसातये
ग᳓मद् आ᳓ मेध᳓सातये
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
हे इन्द्राग्नी वां युवां न वव्रयामहे वयं धन न याचामहे । अथ हि अपि तर्हि शविष्ठम् अतिशयेन बलवन्तं नृणां नरं नेतॄणामपि नेतारम् इन्द्रमित् इन्द्रमेव यजामहे । सः इन्द्रः नः अस्मान् अर्वता अश्वेन कदा चित् वाजसातये अन्नलाभाय आ गमत् आगच्छति । कदाचित् मेधसातये यज्ञभजनाय आ गमत् । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
We set no snares to tangle you; Indra we worship and adore, Hero of heroes mightiest.
Once may he come unto us with his Steed, come unto us to win us strength, and to complete the sacrifice.
For we do not stick you two together in a hole. But we sacrifice to Indra especially as strongest man among men.
He will come here to us sometime with his steed to win the prize; he will come here to win wisdom.

Denn nimmermehr verschmähn wir euch, vor allem ehren Indra wir, Den Mann, der Männer kräftigsten; er komme stets zu Rosse her zu uns, um Labung zu empfahn. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Denn wir stellen euch keine Falle, vielmehr verehren wir nur den Indra, den stärksten Mann unter den Männern. Er möge uns einmal zu Rosse kommen zum Gewinnen des Siegerpreises, er möge kommen zum Gewinnen der Meisterschaft. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Мы же не таимся перед вами:
Это Индру мы почитаем,
Самого сильного мужа из мужей.
Пусть он к нам приедет когда-нибудь
На коне для завоевания добычи,
Пусть он приедет для завоевания мудрости!
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!
ता᳓ हि᳓ म᳓ध्यम् भ᳓राणा᳐म्
इन्द्रअग्नी᳓ अधिक्षितः᳓
ता᳓ उ कवित्वना᳓ कवी᳓
पृछ्य᳓माना सखीयते᳓
सं᳓ धीत᳓म् अश्नुतं नरा
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
ता तौ प्रसिद्धौ इन्द्राग्नी भराणां संग्रामाणां मध्यम् अधिक्षितः अधिनिवसतः हि । अथ प्रत्यक्षस्तुतिः। हे नरा नेतारौ कवित्वना कवित्वेन कवी क्रान्तकर्माणौ पृच्छ्यमाना कविजनैः पृच्छ्यमानौ ता उ तावेव युवां सखीयते सखित्वमिच्छते यजमानाय धीतं तत्कृतं कर्म सम् अश्नुतम् । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
For, famous Indra-Agni, ye are dwellers in the midst of frays.
Sages in wisdom, ye are knit to him who seeketh you as friends. Heroes, bestow on him his wish.
For these two, Indra and Agni, preside amid battle-raids.
You two, sage poets through your poetic skill, on being asked, realize the visionary thought for the one seeking your companionship, o men.

Denn Indra-Agni weilen ja recht in der Opfer Mittelpunkt; So kommt mit Weisheit, Weise denn; erfüllt, o Männer, das Gebet, erflehte, dem befreundeten. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Denn die beiden, Indra und Agni, weilen über den Kämpfen mitteninne. Als zwei Weise , die wegen ihrer Weisheit befragt werden, erfüllet dem den Wunsch, der wie ein Freund gesinnt ist, ihr Herren! - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Ведь эти двое, Индра и Агни,
Пребывают в центре сражений.
Когда (вас,) двоих мудрецов, в связи с (вашей) мудростью
Расспрашивают, то сделайте доступным для дружелюбного
(Внутренее) видение, о два мужа!
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!
अभि᳓ अर्च नभाकव᳓द्
इन्द्राग्नी᳓ यज᳓सा गिरा᳓
य᳓योर् वि᳓श्वम् इदं᳓ ज᳓गद्
इयं᳓ द्यउः᳓ पृथिवी᳓ मही᳓
उप᳓स्थे बिभृतो᳓ व᳓सु
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
हे नाभाक नभाकवदिन्द्राग्नी यजसा यागेन गिरा स्तुत्या च अभ्यर्च अभिपूजय । ययोः इन्द्राग्न्योः विश्वं सर्वम् इदं जगत् तिष्ठति । ययोश्च उपस्थे इयं द्यौः मही महती पृथिवी च द्यावापृथिव्यावुभे वसु धनं बिभृतः धारयतः । सिद्धमन्यत्
Nabhaka-like, with sacred song Indra's and Agni's praise I sing,
Theirs to whom all this world belongs, this heaven and this mighty earth which bear rich treasure in their lap.
Like Nabhāka recite to Indra and Agni with a worshipful song, the two to whom this whole moving world belongs,
whose goods this heaven and the great earth bear in their lap.
– Let all the other squirts burst!
Den Indra-Agni preise nun mit frommem Lied, Nabhaka-gleich, Die Herrscher dieser ganzen Welt, des Himmels und der weiten Erd', im Schoosse tragend reiches Gut. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Besinge wie Nabhaka den Indra und Agni mit Anbetung und Lobrede, deren Gut diese ganze Welt, dieser Himmel, die große Erde in ihrem Schoße tragen! - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Воспой, подобно Набхаке,
Индру и Агни песней, исполненной почитания,
(Тех,) кому принадлежит весь этот мир,
Это небо, великая земля,
(Кто) имеет в (своем) лоне (все) блага.

प्र᳓ ब्र᳓ह्माणि नभाकव᳓द्
इन्द्राग्नि᳓भ्याम् इरज्यत
या᳓ सप्त᳓बुध्नम् अर्णवं᳓
जिह्म᳓बारम् अपोर्णुत᳓
इ᳓न्द्र ई᳓शान ओ᳓जसा
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
ब्रह्माणि स्तोत्राणि इन्द्राग्निभ्यां नभाकवत् प्र इरज्यत नाभाकः प्रेरयते । या याविन्दाग्नी सप्तबुध्नं सप्तमूलं जिह्मबारं पिहितद्वारम् अर्णवम् अपोर्णुतः तेजोभिराच्छादयतः तयोर्मध्ये ओजसा बलेन इन्द्रः ईशानः ईश्वरो भवति । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
To Indra and to Agni send your prayers, as was Nabhaka's wont,-
Who oped with sideway opening the sea with its foundations seven-Indra all powerful in his might.
Like Nabhāka, direct sacred formulations to Indra and Agni, the two who opened up the flood with its seven (stream)beds, with its sloping banks—Indra, showing mastery through his strength.

Nabhaka gleichend wendet hin zu Indra-Agni eur Gebet. Das Meer, das sieben Böden hat, zur Seite neigend öffnen sie, auch Indra, der mit Kraft gebeut. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm
Richtet wie Nabhaka erbauliche Reden an Indra und Agni, die das Meer mit sieben Tiefen und geeignetem Rand aufschließen, Agni und Indra, der durch seine Stärke mächtig ist. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Направьте, подобно Набхаке,
Священные слова к Индре и Агни,
Которые раскрывают семидонное
Море с отверстием насторону, –
Индра, владеющий силой.

अ᳓पि वृश्च पुराणव᳓द्
व्रत᳓तेर् इव गुष्पित᳓म्
ओ᳓जो दास᳓स्य दम्भय
वयं᳓ त᳓द् अस्य स᳓म्भृतं
व᳓सु इ᳓न्द्रेण वि᳓ भजेमहि
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
अपि च हे इन्द्र पुराणवत् प्रत्नो यथा व्रततेरिव यथा वह्याः गुष्पितं निर्गतां शाखां वृश्चति तथा शत्रूणां वृश्च छेदय । तदेवाह । दासस्य दासनामकस्य शत्रोः ओजः बलं दम्भय नाशय । अथ परोक्षस्तुतिः । वयं नाभाकाः अस्य दासस्य संभृतं वसु इन्द्रेण हेतुना वि भजेमहि । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥ ॥ २४ ॥
Tear thou asunder, as of old, like tangles of a creeping plant,
Demolish thou the Dasa's might. May we with Indra's help divide the treasure he hath gathered up.
Hew (him) apart in the age-old way, like the tangle of a vine; weaken the strength of the Dāsa.
Might we then take a share in his goods, brought together by Indra. – Let all the other squirts burst!
Zerspalte wie in alter Zeit, gleich wie des Dickichts Astgeflecht, Des Dämons Kraft, vernichte sie; wir mögen sein gehäuftes Gut als Theil durch Indra's Gunst empfahn. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Zerhaue wie vor Zeiten gleich dem Gewirr einer Schlingpflanze, überliste die Stärke des Dasa! Wir wollen dessen angehäuftes Gut mit Indra teilen. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Обруби, как прежде,
Словно сплетение лианы,
Уничтожь силу дасы!
Мы хотим вместе с Индрой получить долю
В том добре, собранном этим (дасой)!
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!
य᳓द् इन्द्राग्नी᳓ ज᳓ना इमे᳓
विह्व᳓यन्ते त᳓ना गिरा᳓
अस्मा᳓केभिर् नृ᳓भिर् वयं᳓
सासह्या᳓म पृतन्यतो᳓
वनुया᳓म वनुष्यतो᳓
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
यत् ये इमे जनाः तना धनेन गिरा स्तुत्या च इन्द्राग्नी विह्वयन्ते विशेषेण ह्वयन्ति तेषु मध्ये वयं नाभाकाः पृतन्यतः पृतनामिच्छन्तः अस्माकेभिः अस्माकीनैः नृभिः मनुष्यैः ससह्याम शत्रूनभिभवेम । वनुष्यतः स्तुतिमिच्छन्तः शत्रून् वनुयाम च । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
What time with this same song these men call Indra-Agni sundry ways,
May we with our own heroes quell those who provoke us to the fight, and conquer those who strive with us.
When these peoples here vie in invoking Indra and Agni with song at length,
with our men might we overcome those doing battle, might we win against those eager to win.
– Let all the other squirts burst!
Wenn Indra-Agni, diese hier euch rufen mit beständ'gem Preis, So lasst durch unsre Männer uns bewältigen der Feinde Tross, besiegen die bekämpfenden. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Wenn, Indra und Agni, diese Völker von verschiedenen Seiten rufen mit fließender Lobrede, so wollen wir mit unseren Mannen die Angreifer bezwingen, die Eiferer überbieten. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Когда эти люди с разных сторон зовут
Индру и Агни непрерывно песнью,
Пусть мы с нашими мужами
Одолеем нападающих,
Пусть мы одержим верх над соперниками!
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!
या᳓ नु᳓ श्वेता᳓व् अवो᳓ दिव᳓
उच्च᳓रात उ᳓प द्यु᳓भिः
इन्द्राग्नियो᳓र् अ᳓नु व्रत᳓म्
उ᳓हाना यन्ति सि᳓न्धवो
या᳓न् सीम् बन्धा᳓द् अ᳓मुञ्चतां
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
या नु यावेवेन्द्राग्नी श्वेतौ श्वेतवर्णौ । सत्वगुणोपेतावित्यर्थः । अवः अधस्तात् द्युभिः दीप्तिभिः दिवः उप उच्चरातः उच्चरतः तयोरेव इन्द्राग्न्योः उहानाः हविर्वहन्तो यजमानाः व्रतं कर्म अनु यन्ति । अपि सीम् इमाविन्द्राग्नी यान् प्रसिद्धान् सिन्धवः सिन्धून् बन्धात् बन्धनात् अमुञ्चताम् । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
The Two refulgent with their beams rise and come downward from the sky.
By Indra's and by Agni's hest, flowing away, the rivers, run which they released from their restraint.
The two bright ones [=sun and moon], who (come) down from heaven and will proceed upward every day,
(they do so) following the commandment of Indra and Agni; following the commandment of Indra and Agni the rivers go driving, those which the two [=Indra and Agni] freed from bondage.
– Let all the other squirts burst!
Die glänzend von dem Himmelsraum hernieder wandern Tag für Tag, Sie gehn nach Indra-Agni's Spruch, die Wasserfluten strömend hin, die von der Fessel sie befreit. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Die beiden Weißglänzenden, die unterhalb des Himmels Tag für Tag aufzugehen pflegen - Auf Indra´s und Agni´s Geheiß gehen die fließenden Ströme, die sie aus den Banden befreit haben. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
А (те) двое светлых, которые с неба
Поднимаются день за днем
По закону Индры и Агни –
Движимые (тем же законом) текут реки,
Которые они освободили из оков.

पूर्वी᳓ष् ट इन्द्रो᳓पमातयः
पूर्वी᳓र् उत᳓ प्र᳓शस्तयः
सू᳓नो हिन्व᳓स्य हरिवः
व᳓स्वो वीर᳓स्य अपृ᳓चो
या᳓ नु᳓ सा᳓धन्त नो धि᳓यो
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
हे हरिवः वज्रिन् सूनो प्रेरयितः इन्द्र हिन्वस्य प्रीणयितुः वस्वः दीपकस्य वीरस्य आपृचः धनान्युपयच्छतः ते तव ताः उपमातयः उपमानानि पूर्वीः बहूनि । उत अपि च प्रशस्तयः पूर्वीः । याः नः धियः प्रज्ञां साधन्त असाधयन् । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
O Indra, many are thine aids, many thy ways of guiding us,
Lord of the Bay Steeds, Hinva's Son. To a Good Hero come our prayers, which soon shall have accomplishment.
Many are your distributions (of goods to us), Indra, and many our encomia to you, o son of impulsion, possessor of fallow bays—
(many) the infusions of goods of the hero [=Indra], (and many) our visionary thoughts, which now reach their goal.
– Let all the other squirts burst!
Viel Bitten dringen zu dir hin und viele Lobgesänge auch, O Sohn der Wonne, Rosseherr; des guten Herrn und unsere inbrünst'ge Bitten sei'n erfüllt. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Viele sind, o Indra, deine Zuwendungen und viele deine Anerkennungen, du Sohn des Rossetreibers, du Falbenherr. Gut und Sohn schenkend seien unsere Gebete, die jetzt in Erfüllung gehen mögen. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Много, о Индра, к тебе просьб,
И много прославлений (у тебя),
О сын погонщика (коней), хозяин буланых коней.
Пусть же сбудутся наши молитвы,
Которые пронизаны (желанием иметь) богатство, сына!
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!
तं᳓ शिशीता सुवृक्ति᳓भिस्
त्वेषं᳓ स᳓त्वानम् ऋग्मि᳓यम्
उतो᳓ नु᳓ चिद् य᳓ ओ᳓जसा
शु᳓ष्णस्याण्डा᳓नि भे᳓दति
जे᳓षत् सु᳓वर्वतीर् अपो᳓
न᳓भन्ताम् अन्यके᳓ समे
हे स्तोतारः त्वेषं दीप्तं सत्वानं संभक्तारं धनानाम् ऋग्मियं ऋगर्हमृग्भिः स्तोतव्यं तम् इन्द्रं सुवृक्तिभिः स्तुतिभिः शिशीत संस्कुरुत । उतो नु चित् अपि च यः इन्द्रः ओजसा बलेन शुष्णस्य शुष्णनामकस्यासुरस्य आण्डानि अण्डजातान्यपत्यानि भेदति अभिनत् सः स्वर्वतीः दिव्यानि अपः सलिलानि जेषत् जयतु । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
Inspire him with your holy hymns, the Hero bright and glorious,
Him who with might demolisbeth even the brood of Susna, and winneth for us the heavenly streams.
Hone him [=Indra] with well-twisted (hymns)—the turbulent one, the “real thing,” worthy of verses.
And he who even now will split the “eggs” of Śuṣṇa with his strength, he will conquer the waters along with the sun.
– Let all the other squirts burst!
Ihn schärfet durch der Lieder Drang, den kühnen, starken, preislichen, Und er, der nun mit grosser Kraft zerbricht des Çuschna böse Brut, gewinn des Himmels Wasserflut. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Ihn machet durch Loblieder scharf, den furchtgebietenden preiswürdigen Krieger, und der alsbald mit Kraft des Susna Eier zerbrechen und die Gewässer samt der Sonne ersiegen soll. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Заострите прекрасными произведениями этого
Ярого воина, достойного гимнов,
(Того.) который (своей) силой непременно
Разобьет яйца Шушны,
(И) завоюет воды, окружающие солнце!
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!

हे स्तोतारः स्वध्वरं सुयज्ञं सत्यम् अविनाशं सत्वानं संभक्तारम् ऋत्वियम् ऋतौ यष्टव्यं तम् इन्द्रं शिशीत स्तुतिभिः संस्कुरुत । अथ प्रत्यक्षस्तुतिः । उतो नु चित् अपि च यः इन्द्रः ओहते यज्ञं प्रति गच्छति शुष्णस्य आण्डा आण्डान्यण्डजातानि च भेदति भिनत्ति स त्वं स्वर्वतीः दिव्यानि अपः सलिलानि अजैः अजैषीः । सिद्धमन्यत् ॥
Inspire him worshipped with fair rites, the glorious Hero truly brave.
He brake in pieces Susna's brood who still expected not the stroke, and won for us the heavenly streams. Let all the others die away.
Hone him [=Agni] affording good ceremonies, the “real thing” really there at the proper season.
And he who even now is solemnly proclaimed (as the one) who will split the “eggs” of Śuṣṇa, he has conquered the waters along with the sun. – Let all the other squirts burst!
Ihn schärft, den schönbeopferten, den wahren, starken, preislichen; Er ist's, der unser achtet stets, und der des Çuschna Brut zerbricht, des Himmels Wasserflut gewann. Zerstieben soll der Feinde Schwarm.
Ihn machet scharf, den gutopfernden, wahrhaft pünktlichen Krieger, der sich alsbald rühmt, er werde des Susna Eier zerbrechen: er hat die Gewässer samt der Sonne ersiegt. - All die anderen Schwächlinge sollen entzweigehen!
Заострите этого связанного с успешным обрядом
Истинного воина, соблюдающего время жертвоприношений,
Который задумывает непременно
Разбить яйца Шушны –
Он завоевал воды, окружающие солнце.
Пусть лопнут все ничтожные другие!
एवे᳓न्द्राग्नि᳓भ्याम् पितृव᳓न् न᳓वीयो
मन्धातृव᳓द् अङ्गिरस्व᳓द् अवाचि
त्रिधा᳓तुना श᳓र्मणा पातम् अस्मा᳓न्
वयं᳓ सियाम प᳓तयो रयीणा᳓म्
एव एवं याभ्याम् इन्द्राग्निभ्यां पितृवत् नभाकवत् 'मन्धातृवत् यौवनाश्वमान्धातृवच्च अङ्गिरस्वत् अङ्गिरोवच्च नवीयः नवतरम् अवाचि नाभाकेन मया पाठिताविन्द्राग्नी त्रिधातुना त्रिपर्वणा शर्मणा गृहेण नः अस्मान् नाभाकान् पातं रक्षतम् । वयं रयीणां धनानां पतयः स्वामिनः स्याम भवेम ॥ ॥ २५ ॥
Thus have we sung anew to Indra-Agni, as sang our sires, Angirases, and Mandhatar.
Guard us with triple shelter and preserve us: may we be masters of a store of riches.
Thus to Indra and Agni, in the manner of the ancestors, of Mandhātar, of Aṅgiras, a newer (speech) has just been spoken.
With tripartite shelter protect us; may we be lords of riches.
So ist dem Indra und Agni aufs neue gesungen nach der Väter Art, nach des Mandhātri und der Angiras Art. Behütet uns mit dreifachem Schütze; Besitzer von Reichthümer mögen wir sein.
So wurde dem Indra und Agni eine neue Rede gehalten in der Weise der Väter, des Mandhatri, der Angiras´. Schützet uns mit dreifacher Schutzwehr! Wir möchten Gebieter über Reichtümer sein.
Итак, для Индры и Агни произнесена новая (речь),
Как у отцов, как у Мандхатара, как у Ангирасов.
Тройной защитой нас защищайте!
Да будем мы повелителями богатств!
