ऋषिगोपवन आत्रेयः सप्तवध्रिर्वा
देवताअश्विनौ
मन्त्र18
छन्दगायत्री
उ᳓द् ईराथाम् ऋतायते᳓
युञ्जा᳓थाम् अश्विना र᳓थम्
अ᳓न्ति ष᳓द् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विना अश्विनौ ऋतायते यज्ञमिच्छते मह्यं मदर्थम् उदीराथाम् उद्गच्छतम् । तदर्थं हवमाह्वानं यज्ञं ता प्राप्तुं युञ्जाथां योजयतमश्वैः रथम् । वां युवयोः अवः रक्षणम् अन्ति अस्मदन्तिके सत् वर्तमानं भूतु भवतु ॥
ROUSE ye for him who keeps the Law, yoke your steeds, Aiyins, to your car
Let your protecting help be near.
Rise up for the man who acts according to truth; hitch up your chariot, o Aśvins.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Auf, eilet zu dem Frommen hin, den Wagen schirrt, o Ritter an, Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Brechet auf zu dem im Gesetz Wandelnden, schirret euren Wagen an, Asvin! - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!

Запрягайте, о Ашвины, колесницу!

निमि᳓षश् चिज् ज᳓वीयसा
र᳓थेना᳓ यातम् अश्विना
अ᳓न्ति ष᳓द् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
निमिषश्चित् निमेषादपि जवीयसा अतिशयवेगेन रथेन आ यातम् आगच्छतमस्मद्यज्ञं हे अश्विना । शिष्टमुक्तम् ॥
Come, Asvins, with your car more swift than is the twinkling of an eye
Let your protecting help be near.
Drive here with your chariot that is quicker even than a wink, Aśvins. – Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Mit eurem Wagen, Ritter, kommt, der schneller als ein Augenblick; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Kommet, Asvin, auf dem Wagen, der rascher als selbst das Augenzwinkern ist. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!

उ᳓प स्तृणीतम् अ᳓त्रये
हिमे᳓न घर्म᳓म् अश्विना
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
अत्रये महर्षयेऽसुरैरग्नौ प्रक्षिप्ताय तस्य हितार्थं घर्मम् अग्निदाहकं हिमेन उदकेन उप स्तृणीतम् उपस्तीर्णवन्तौ । ‘हिमेनाग्निं घ्रंसमवारयेथाम्' (ऋ. सं. १. ११६. ८) इति निगमः ॥
Asvins, ye overlaid with cold the fiery pit for Atri's sake:
Let your protecting help be near.
For Atri you made an underlayer with snow beneath the hot pot, o Aśvins.

Die Kühlung streutet, Ritter, ihr, dem Atri in die heisse Glut; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.

कु᳓ह श्येने᳓व पेतथुः
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विनौ युवां कुह क्व स्थः भवथः । इदानीं कुह क्व कुत्र जग्मथुः गच्छथः स्वेच्छया । कुह क्व वा श्येनेव श्येनाविव शीघ्रपतनौ सन्तौ पेतथुः पतथः । एवमचिन्त्यस्वभावौ कृपया संनिहितौ भवतमिति शेषः । तादृशयोः अवः अन्तिके भवतु ॥
Where are ye? whither are ye gone? whither, like falcons, have ye flown?
Let your protecting help be near.
Where are you? Where have you gone? Where have you flown like falcons?
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Wo seid ihr, und wo gingt ihr hin? wo flöget ihr wie Adler hin? Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Wo seid ihr, wohin seid ihr gegangen, wohin seid ihr gleich Falken geflogen. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Где вы находитесь? Куда отправились?
Куда улетели, как два сокола?

य᳓द् अद्य᳓ क᳓र्हि क᳓र्हि चिच्
छुश्रूया᳓तम् इमं᳓ ह᳓वम्
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
यत् यस्मान्न निर्धार्यतेऽतः अद्य अस्मिन् काले कहिँ कस्मिन्नपि देशे कर्हि कस्मिन्नपि काले इमं हवम् अस्मदीयमाह्वानं शुश्रूयातं शृणुयातम् ॥ ॥ १८ ॥
If ye at any time this day are listening to this my call,
Let your protecting help be near.
If today, at any time at all, you two should hear this call,
– let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Wenn heut ihr irgendwo verweilt, so höret diesen meinen Ruf; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Wenn ihr heute zu irgend einer Zeit diesen Ruf hören solltet. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!

अश्वि᳓ना यामहू᳓तमा
ने᳓दिष्ठं यामि आ᳓पियम्
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
यामहूतमा अतिशयेन काले ह्वातव्यौ अश्विना अश्विनौ यामि । नेदिष्ठम् अन्तिकतमम् आप्यं बान्धवं च यामि तयोः ॥
The Asvins, fust to hear our prayer, for closest kinship I approach:
Let your protecting help be near.
The Aśvins, most often summoned on their journey, do I beg for closest friendship.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Die Ritter, die beim Fest man ruft, geh' ich um engste Freundschaft an; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
An die Asvin, die auf ihrer Fahrt am meisten gerufen werden, wende ich mich als Freund an die nächste Freundschaft. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
О Ашвины, лучше всех призываемые в пути,
Я молю о самой близкой дружбе.

अ᳓वन्तम् अ᳓त्रये गृहं᳓
कृणुतं᳓ युव᳓म् अश्विना
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विना युवं युवाम् अत्रये अग्न्यागारे दह्यमानाय अवन्तं रक्षन्तं गृहं कृणुतं कृतवन्तौ । तादृशयोः वामवः भवतु । अवन्तमिति व्यत्ययेन पुल्ँलिङ्गता ॥
For Atri ye, O Asvins, made a dwellingplace to shield him well,
Let your protecting help be near.
You made a helpful house for Atri, o Aśvins.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Erquickend, Ritter, machtet ihr dem Atri seines Hauses Sitz; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Ihr Asvin machtet dem Atri ein schützendes Haus. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Сделайте вы, о Ашвины,
Для Атрии защитный дом!
Пусть ваша помощь будет рядом!
व᳓रेथे अग्नि᳓म् आत᳓पो
व᳓दते वल्गु᳓ अ᳓त्रये
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विनौ वल्गु मनोहरं वदते स्तुवते अत्रये आतपः आतपादौष्ण्यात् अग्निं वरेथे आवारयतम् ॥
Ye warded off the fervent heat for Atri when he sweetly spake:
Let your protecting help be near.
You obstruct the fire from burning, for Atri who speaks agreeably. – Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Des Feuers Gluten wehret ihr dem Atri ab, der lieblich singt; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Ihr wehret dem schön redenden Atri das Feuer ab, daß es nicht brenne. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Для Атрии, прекрасно говорящего,
Вы отводите огонь, чтоб он не жег.

प्र᳓ सप्त᳓वध्रिर् आश᳓सा
धा᳓राम् अग्ने᳓र् अशायत
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
सप्तवध्रिः महर्षिर्हे अश्विनौ युवयोः आशसा आशंसनेन स्तुत्या मञ्जूषाया निर्गत्य अग्नेः धारां तस्यां मञ्जूषायां प्र अशायत आशाययत् । स्वनिरोधिकां तां दग्धवानित्यर्थः । सप्तवध्रेः पेटिकान्तःप्रवेशोऽश्विनोरनुग्रहान्निर्गमश्च ‘वि जिहीष्व वनस्पते' (ऋ. सं. ५. ७८.५) इत्यत्र स्पष्टमुक्तम् ॥
Erst Saptavadbri by his prayer obtained the trenchant edge of fire:
Let your protecting help be near.
Saptavadhri honed the blade of fire with hope.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Es machte Saptavadhri scharf des Agni Schneide durch Gebet; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Saptavadhri brachte durch sein Vertrauen die Schärfe des Feuers zum Gefrieren. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Сантавадхри (своим) доверием (к вам)
Заморозил лезвие огня.

इहा᳓ गतं वृषण्वसू
शृणुत᳓म् म इमं᳓ ह᳓वम्
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे वृषण्वसू वर्षणधनावश्विनौ इह अस्मिन् यज्ञे आ गतम् आगच्छतम् । तदर्थं मे मम इमं हवं शृणुतम् ॥ ॥ १९ ॥
Come hither, O ye Lords of wealth, and listen to this call of mine:
Let your protecting help be near.
Come here, o you who bring bullish goods; hear this call of mine. – Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
O Heldenkräft'ge kommt hierher, vernehmet diesen meinen Ruf; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Kommet hierher, ihr Schatzreichen, erhöret diesen Ruf von mir! - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Сюда приезжайте, о обладатели мощного богатства!
Услышьте этот мой призыв!
Пусть ваша помощь будет рядом!
कि᳓म् इदं᳓ वाम् पुराणव᳓ज्
ज᳓रतोर् इव शस्यते
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विनौ वां युवयोरर्थमागमनाय पुराणवत् पुराणयोरतिवृद्धयोरिव । तदेवाह । जरतोरिव शस्यते । पुनःपुनरागच्छतमिति शस्यते । किमिदम् । यथा लोके वृद्धो जीर्णो बहुवारमाहूतोऽपि नागच्छति तद्वद्युवामपीत्यर्थः । एवमनागमाद्ब्रवीति ॥
What is this praise told forth of you as Elders in the ancient way?
Let your protecting help be near.
What is this (deed?) of yours proclaimed in age-old fashion, like that of old men?
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Was ist es, das nach alter Art ihr rühmt, als wäret Alte ihr? Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Wird diese von euch wie etwas Altes, wie von zwei bejahrten Leuten gerühmt? - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
А что эта (милость) наша прославляется
Как на старый лад, как у двоих стариков?
Пусть ваша помощь будет рядом!
समानं᳓ वां सजाति᳓यं
समानो᳓ ब᳓न्धुर् अश्विना
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विना अश्विनौ वां युवयोः परस्परं सजात्यं समानजातित्वं समानम् एकमेव । उभयोरप्यश्व1रूपायाः सूर्यपत्न्या उत्पत्तेः सजात्यम् । तथा युवयोः बन्धुः बन्धकः स्रुवः समानः एक एव । अथवर्षिरहं समान एक एव बन्धुः ॥
One common brotherhood is yours, Asvins your kindred is the same:
Let your protecting help be near.
You have a common kinship, a common connection (with us), o Aśvins.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Gemeinsam ist die Herkunft euch, gemeinsam die Verwandtschaft auch; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Ihr habt die gleiche Landsmannschaft, die gleiche Sippe, ihr Asvin. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!

यो᳓ वां र᳓जांसि अश्विना
र᳓थो विया᳓ति रो᳓दसी
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
वां युवयोः यः रथः अस्ति स रथः रजांसि लोकान् रोदसी द्यावापृथिव्यौ च वियाति विशेषेण गच्छति । अतस्तेन रथेन शीघ्रमागच्छतमिति शेषः ॥
This is your chariot, Asvins, which speeds through the regions, earth and heaven
Let your protecting aid be near.
Your chariot that drives through the airy realms, through the two world-halves, o Aśvins—
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Eur Wagen nah, o Ritter, sich, der Himmel, Erd' und Luft durchdringt; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Euren Wagen, der durch die Räume, durch beide Welten fährt, ihr Asvin, - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Та ваша колесница, о Ашвины,
Что проезжает через пространства, через две половины вселенной –

आ᳓ नो ग᳓व्येभिर् अ᳓श्वियैः
सह᳓स्रैर् उ᳓प गछतम्
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विनौ नः अस्मान् सहस्रैः अपरिमितैः गव्येभिः गोसमूहैः अश्व्यैः अश्वसमूहैश्च उप गच्छतम् ॥
Approach ye hitherward to us with thousands both of steeds and kine:
Let your protecting help be near.
(With it) come here near to us with your thousands of cattle and horses. – Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Mit tausend Gaben kommt zu uns; an Rindern und an Rossen her; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Mit dem kommet zu uns mit Tausenden von Rindern und Rossen! - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
(На ней) приезжайте к нам
С тысячами коров (и) коней.

मा᳓ नो ग᳓व्येभिर् अ᳓श्वियैः
सह᳓स्रेभिर् अ᳓ति ख्यतम्
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विनौ गव्येभिः गोसमूहैः अश्व्यैः अश्वसमूहैः सहस्रेभिः सहस्रसंख्याकैः मा अस्मान् अति ख्यतम् । अतीति प्रतीत्यस्मिन्नर्थे । मा निवारयतमित्यर्थः ॥
Pass us not by, remember us with thousands both of kine aud steeds:
Let your protecting help be near.
Do not overlook us with your thousands of cattle and horses.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Mit tausend Gaben, die ihr schenkt an Rind und Ross, versäumt es nicht; Es sei uns eure Hülfe nah.
Übersehet uns nicht mit den Tausenden von Rindern und Rossen! - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!

अरुण᳓प्सुर् उषा᳓ अभूद्
अ᳓कर् ज्यो᳓तिर् ऋता᳓वरी
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे अश्विनौ उषाः अरुणप्सुः शुभ्रवर्णा अभूत् भवति । न केवलं स्वयम् । ज्योतिः तेजः अकः करोति अन्ति सर्वतः ऋतावरी ऋतवत्युषाः ॥
The purple-tinted Dawn hath risen, and true to Law hath made the light
Let your protecting help be near.
Breathing her ruddy breath, Dawn has appeared; following the truth she has made the light.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Die Morgenröthe strahlte mit rothem Glanze und machte Licht, die heilige.
Die rotfarbige Usas ist erschienen, die Rechtzeitige hat Licht gemacht. - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Появилась красноватая Ушас,
Соблюдая закон, она создала свет.

अश्वि᳓ना सु᳓ विचा᳓कशद्
वृक्ष᳓म् परशुमाँ᳓ इव
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
सु विचाकशत् अत्यन्तं दीप्यमानः सूर्योऽग्निर्वा वृक्षं परशुमानिव स यथा शकलयति तद्वत्तमो निशारयतीति शेषः । दृष्टान्तसामर्थ्यादेवं लभ्यते । यस्मादेवं तस्मात् अश्विना अश्विनावाह्वय इति शेषः ॥
He looked upon the Asvins, as an axearmed man upon a tree:
Let your protecting help be near.
Looking hard at the Aśvins, as a man with a hatchet does a tree— – Let the help of your two become truly nearby.
Er [der Dämon] blickte auf die Ritter hin, wie auf den Baum der Mann der die Axt hat.
Nach den Asvin fein ausschauend wie der Mann mit der Axt nach einem passenden Baum, - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
Внимательно разглядывая Ашвинов,
Словно человек с топором – дерево, –

पु᳓रं न᳓ धृष्णव् आ᳓ रुज
कृष्ण᳓या बाधितो᳓ विशा᳓
अ᳓न्ति षद् भूतु वाम् अ᳓वः
हे धृष्णो धर्षक सप्तवध्रे त्वं कृष्णया आकर्षया विशा प्रवेशयन्त्या पेटिकया बाधितः त्वं ततो निर्गत्य तामेव आ रुज पीडय अश्विनोरनुग्रहात् । एवं स्वयं स्वात्मानं प्रेष्यति । अथवा गोपवनः सप्तवध्रिमेवं ब्रवीति । वां युवयोः अवः रक्षणं गमनं वा समीपे । तत्र त्रिषु वर्गेषु “ अन्ति षत्' इत्युत्तरोऽर्धर्चोऽन्वितपदाध्याहारेण योज्यः ॥ ॥ २० ॥
By the black band encompassed round, break it down, bold one, like a fort.
Let your protecting help be near.
Break (it) like a fortress, o bold one, you who were oppressed by the black clan.
– Let the help of you two become truly nearby.
Zerbrich ihn, o kühner, wie die Burg, wenn du von der schwarzen Schar bedrängt wirst.
Zerbrich, du Kühner das Gefängnis wie eine Burg, von dem schwarzen Stamme bedrängt!" - Eure Gnade soll gegenwärtig sein!
– О отважный, проломи, словно крепость,
Осажденный черным племенем!
