ऋषिकुसीदी काण्वः

छन्दगायत्री
आ᳓ तू᳓ न इन्द्र क्षुम᳓न्तं
चित्रं᳓ ग्राभं᳓ सं᳓ गृभाय
महाहस्ती᳓ द᳓क्षिणेन
हे इन्द्र महाहस्ती महाहस्तवान् त्वं तु तदानीमेव नः अस्मभ्यं दातुं क्षुमन्तं शब्दवन्तम् । स्तुत्यमित्यर्थः । चित्रं चायनीयं ग्राभं ग्राहकं ग्रहणार्हं वा धनं दक्षिणेन हस्तेन आ सं गृभाय आभिमुख्येन संगृहाण ॥
INDRA, God of the mighty arm, gather for us with thy right hand
Manifold and nutritious spoil.
Grab for us here a brilliant cattle-rich handful, o Indra,
who have great hands, with your right one.

विद्मा᳓ हि᳓ त्वा तुविकूर्मिं᳓
तुवि᳓देष्णं तुवी᳓मघम्
तुविमात्र᳓म् अ᳓वोभिः
हे इन्द्र त्वा त्वां विद्म हि जानीमः खलु । कीदृशमिति । तुविकूर्मिं बहुकर्माणं तुविदेष्णं बहुप्रदेयं तुविमघं बहुधनं तुविमात्रं बहुप्रमाणम् अवोभिः युक्तम् ॥
We know thee mighty in thy deeds, of mighty bounty, mighty wealth,
Mighty in measure, prompt to aid.
For we know you as powerfully ranging, of powerful gifts, of powerful bounty,
of powerful mass, with your help.

नहि᳓ त्वा शूर देवा᳓
न᳓ म᳓र्तासो दि᳓त्सन्तम्
भीमं᳓ न᳓ गां᳓ वार᳓यन्ते
हे शूर इन्द्र त्वा त्वां दित्सन्तं दातुमिच्छन्तं देवाः नहि वारयन्ते न निवारयन्ति । तथा मर्तासः मर्त्या अपि न वारयन्ते । भीमं न गां भयजनकं वृषभं यवसे प्रवृत्तमिव । तं यथा वारयितुं न शक्नुवन्ति तद्वत् ॥
Hero, when thou art fain to give, neither may Gods nor mortal men
Restrain thee like a fearful Bull.
For when you wish to give, o champion, neither gods nor mortals
hinder you, anymore than they would a fearsome bull.
Denn, o Held, nicht hemmen Götter dich, noch Menschen, wenn du spendest, Dich, der wildem Stiere gleichet.
Wenn du geben willst, halten dich ja weder Götter noch Sterbliche auf, so wenig wie einen furchtbaren Stier, o Held.
ए᳓तो नु इ᳓न्द्रं स्त᳓वाम
इ᳓शानं व᳓स्वः स्वरा᳓जम्
न᳓ रा᳓धसा मर्धिषन् नः
हे अस्मदीया जनाः एतो आगच्छतैव नु क्षिप्रम्। किं कर्तुम् । स्तवाम इन्द्रम् । कीदृशं तम् । वस्वः वसुनः धनस्य ईशानं स्वामिनं स्वराजं स्वयमेव राजमानं स्वर्गे राजमानं वा । नः अस्मान् इन्द्रेणानुगृहीतान् राधसा धनेनान्यो धनी न मर्धिषत् न बाधताम् । आढ्यानामस्मत्समानानामप्याढ्यत्वाय स्तवामेत्यर्थः ॥
Come, let us glorify Indra, Lord supreme of wealth, Self-ruling King:
In bounty may he harm us not.
Come now! Let us praise Indra, the sovereign king who holds sway over goods.
He will not neglect us with his generosity.
Kommt nun, lasst uns Indra preisen, der selbstherrschend Gut besitzet; Nicht versäum' er uns mit Gaben.
Wohlan, jetzt wollen wir Indra preisen, den Selbstherrscher, der über das Gut schaltet. Er möge uns mit seiner Gabe nicht zurücksetzen.
प्र᳓ स्तोषद् उ᳓प गासिषच्
छ्र᳓वत् सा᳓म गीय᳓मानम्
अभि᳓ रा᳓धसा जुगुरत्
पूर्वमन्त्रे स्तवामेत्युक्तम् । तदेव स्तोत्रमिन्द्रः प्र स्तोषत् । प्रस्तुत्वा च गासिषत् उपगानं च करोतु । तदर्थं गीयमानं साम स्तोत्रं श्रवत् शृणोतु । राधसा धनेन च युक्तोऽस्मान अभि जुगुरत् अभिगृणातु स्वीकुर्विति ॥ ॥ ३७ ॥ (ग-पुस्तकेऽस्य मन्त्रस्य भाष्यमेवं विद्यते-सोता इन्द्रं प्रस्तोतु। उपगासिषदुपगानं च करोतु । गीयमानं साम श्रवत् शृणोतु । राधसा धनेन प्रसाधनेन वा युक्तोऽस्मानभिजुगुरदभिगृणातु स्वीकुर्विति ।)
Let prelude sound and following chant so let him hear the Saman sung,
And with his bounty answer us.
He will start up the praise; he will join in the singing; he will listen to the sāman being sung.
He will greet it with generosity.

Er stimme den Gesang an, er falle ein, er höre die gesungene Weise; er antwortet mit einer Gabe.
आ᳓ नो भर द᳓क्षिणेन
अभि᳓ सव्ये᳓न प्र᳓ मृश
इ᳓न्द्र मा᳓ नो व᳓सोर् नि᳓र् भाक्
हे इन्द्र नः अस्मभ्यम् आ भर । आहृत्य दक्षिणेन सव्येन च हस्तेनोभाभ्यां हस्ताभ्याम् अभि प्र मृश । प्रयच्छेत्यर्थः। नः अस्मान् वसोः धनात् मा निर्भाक् मा निर्भाक्षीः ॥
O Indra, with thy right hand bring, and with thy left remember us.
Let us not lose our share of wealth.
Bring to us with your right hand; seize with your left.
Indra, don’t deal us out of goods.

उ᳓प क्रमस्व आ᳓ भर
धृषता᳓ धृष्णो ज᳓नानाम्
अ᳓दाशूष्टरस्य वे᳓दः
हे इन्द्र त्वम् उप क्रमस्व धनं प्रत्युपगच्छ । प्रवृत्तो भव वा दातुम् । हे धृष्णो धर्षक शत्रूणां धृषता धृष्टेन चेतसा युक्तः सन् आ भर आहर च । कस्य धनमाहरेति उच्यते । जनानां मध्ये अदाशूष्टरस्य अत्यन्तमदातृतमस्य वेदः धनम् ॥
Come nigh, O Bold One, boldly bring hither the riches of the churl
Who giveth least of all the folk.
Hop to! Bring here boldly, bold one, for the peoples
the possessions of the very impious.
Schreite hin und bringe kecklich, kühner, her den Schatz des Mannes, Welcher weniger dir huldigt.
Geh ans Werk, bring uns kühnen Sinnes, du Kühner, die Habe des, der unter den Leuten am wenigsten spendet.
इ᳓न्द्र य᳓ उ नु᳓ ते अ᳓स्ति
वा᳓जो वि᳓प्रेभिः स᳓नित्वः
अस्मा᳓भिः सु᳓ तं᳓ सनुहि
हे इन्द्र यः वाजः अन्नं विप्रेभिः मेधाविभिः सनित्वः संभजनीयः ते तव अस्ति तं वाजम् अस्माभिः याचितः सन् अस्मभ्यं वा सु सुष्ठु सनुहि देहि ॥
Indra, the booty which thou hast with holy singers to receive,
Even that booty win with us.
Indra, the prize that now is yours is to be won by the inspired poets. Win it with us.

Indra, dein Siegerpreis, der von den Redekundigen zu gewinnen ist, den gewinne fein mit uns!
सद्योजु᳓वस् ते वा᳓जा
अस्म᳓भ्यं विश्व᳓श्चन्द्राः
व᳓शैश् च मक्षू᳓ जरन्ते
हे इन्द्र ते तव वाजाः अस्मभ्यं सद्योजुवः शीघ्रं गन्तारो भवन्तु । कीदृशास्ते । विश्वचन्द्राः सर्वहिरण्योपेता बहूनामाह्लादका वा । अस्मदीयाश्च जनाः वशैः कामैरनेकैर्युक्ताः मक्षु शीघ्रं जरन्ते स्तुवन्ति ॥ ॥ ३८ ॥
Indra, thy swiftly-coming spoil, the booty which rejoices all,
Sounds quick in concert with our hopes.
Your all-glittering prizes come speeding in an instant to us.
They awaken at our will and right away.
Deine reichgeschmückten Gaben kommen zu uns her in Eile, Durch Gebete nahen schnell sie.
Deine allschimmernden Belohnungen beeilen sich alsbald für uns, und werden von den Vasa´s in aller Frühe wachgesungen.
