ऋषिअग्नयो धिष्ण्या ऐश्वराः

छन्दद्विपदा विराट्
परि॒ प्र ध॒न्वेन्द्रा॑य सोम स्वा॒दुर्मि॒त्राय॑ पू॒ष्णे भगा॑य ॥
परि॑ । प्र । ध॒न्व॒ । इन्द्रा॑य । सो॒म॒ । स्वा॒दुः । मि॒त्राय॑ । पू॒ष्णे । भगा॑य ॥
हे सोम स्वादुः स्वादुरसस्त्वम् इन्द्राय मित्राय पूष्णे भगाय एतेभ्यो देवेभ्यः परि प्र धन्व परितः पात्रेषु प्रक्षर ॥
“Flow, Soma who are sweet-flavoured, for Indra, Mitra, Pūṣan, and Bhaga.”
PLEASANT to Indra's Mitra's, Pusan's Bhaga's taste, sped onward, Soma, with thy flowing stream.
Run forth and around for Indra, o Soma, sweet for Mitra, Pūṣan, and Bhaga.

हे सोम सुतस्य अभिषुतस्य ते तव स्वं भागम् इन्द्रः पेयाः पेयात् पिबतु ॥ पातेराशीर्लिंङि रूपम् । पुरुषव्यत्ययः ॥ किमर्थम् । क्रत्वे क्रतवे प्रज्ञानाय दक्षाय बलाय च । किंच अमी विश्वे सर्वे देवाः च त्वदीयमंशं पिबन्तु ॥
“Soma, let Indra and all the gods drink of you when effused for intelligence and strength.”
Let Indra drink, O Soma, of thy juice for wisdom, and all Deities for strength.
Indra should drink of you, Soma, when you are pressed, for will and skill—and (so should) all the gods.

Von deinem Safte – mög' Indra trinken, zu Kraft und Stärke – und alle Götter.
Indra soll von dir, Soma, dem Ausgepreßten, trinken zu Rat und Tat, und alle Götter!

हे सोम शुक्रः दीप्तः दिव्यः दिवि भवः पीयूषः देवैः पातव्यः सः त्वम् अमृताय अमरणाय महे महते क्षयाय निवासाय च एव अर्ष एवं पवस्व क्षर ॥
“So do you who are pure, divine, the beverage of all the gods, flow for immortality and a spacious abode.”
So flow thou on as bright celestial juice, flow to the vast, immortal dwelling-place.
Thus, for immortality and for great peaceful dwelling, rush gleaming as the heavenly beestings.

So ström', o heller – zu hoher Herrschaft, ihm, der unsterblich, – du Milch des Himmels.
So fließe für den unsterblichen hohen Wohnsitz, du der Klare, der himmlische Rahm!

हे सोम महान् देवेभ्यो दीयमानत्वेन महत्त्वयुक्तः समुद्रः समुन्दनः । यस्मात् समुद्द्रवन्ति रसास्तादृशः। पिता सर्वेषां पालयिता त्वं देवानां विश्वा विश्वानि सर्वाणि धाम धामानि शरीराण्यभिलक्ष्य पवस्व ॥
“Flow, Soma, who are mighty, the shedder of juice the parent of the gods, towards all bodies.”
Flow onward, Soma, as a mighty sea, as Father of the Gods to every form.
Purify yourself, Soma, as the great sea and as the father of the gods, (going) to all domains.

Läutere dich, Soma, ein großes Meer, der Vater der Götter zu all deinen Formen!

हे सोम शुक्रः दीप्तस्त्वं देवेभ्यः देवार्थं पवस्व क्षर । किंच दिवे पृथिव्यै च द्यावापृथिवीभ्यां च ततः प्रजायै प्रजाभ्यश्च शं सुखं च कुरु ॥
“Soma, who are brilliant, flow for the gods and (give) joy to heaven and earth and all creatures.”
Flow on, O Soma, radiant for the Gods and Heaven and Earth and bless our progeny.
Gleaming, purify yourself for the gods, o Soma, for heaven, for earth, and as weal for offspring.

हे सोम शुक्रः दीप्तः पीयूषः पातव्यस्त्वं दिवः द्युलोकस्य धर्ता धारकः असि । वाजी बलवान् स त्वं सत्ये सत्यभूते विधर्मन् विधेर्मणि । विविधकर्माण ऋत्विजो यस्मिन् । यद्वा । विविधसोमादिहविषा धारके । अस्मिन् यज्ञे पवस्व क्षर ॥
“You are the upholder of heaven, radiant and good to drink; flow you who are strong, at the truthful sacrifice.”
Thou, bright Juice, art Sustainer of the sky: flow, mighty, in accordance with true Law.
You are the supporter of heaven, the gleaming beestings. In your real expansion, as prizewinner purify yourself.
Des Himmels Träger – und helle Biestmilch, im wahren Lichtraum – du schneller riesle.
Du bist der Träger des Himmels, der klare Rahm; läutere dich in wirklicher Ausbreitung als der Preisgewinner!
Ты поддерживатель неба, светлые сливки.
Очищайся в (своем) истинном распространении как захватчик награды!

हे सोम द्युम्नी । 'द्युम्नं द्योततेर्यशो वान्नं वा ' इति यास्कः । अन्नवान् यशस्वी वा सुधारः शोभनधारायुक्तः पूर्व्यः पुरातनस्त्वं महां महताम् अवीनां रोम्णां रोमभ्यः सकाशादनुक्रमेण पवस्व क्षर ॥
“Do you, Soma, who are possessed of food, who have a copious stream, flow through the great sheep's hairs in due succession.”
Soma, flow splendid with thy copious stream through the great fleece as in the olden time.
Purify yourself, o Soma, possessing heavenly brilliance and good streams, along the (fleece) of the sheep as the great ancient one.

नृभिः कर्मनेतृभिर्ऋत्विग्भिः येमानः नियम्यमानः जज्ञानः जायमानः पूतः पवित्रेण शोधितः मन्द्रः मोदमानः स्वर्वित सर्वज्ञः एतादृशः सोमः विश्वानि सर्वाणि धनान्यस्मभ्यं क्षरत् क्षरतु ददातु ॥
“May, the Soma regulated by the priests, engendered, purified, exhilarating, all-knowing bring us all (riches).”
Bom, led by men, joyous, and purified, let the Light-finder make all blessings flow:
Being guided by men after being born purified, he streams all (goods) [/to all (domains)]—the gladdening one who finds the sun.
Gelenkt von Männern – in Glanz geboren, du alles schenkend, – erfreuend, glanzreich,
Von den Männern gelenkt, wenn er geboren ist, und geläutert möge er alle Schätze ergießen, lieblich ertönend, das Sonnenlicht findend.
Направленный мужами, едва родившись, очищенный,

इन्दुः॑ । पु॒ना॒नः । प्र॒ऽजाम् । उ॒रा॒णः । क॒र॒त् । विश्वा॑नि । द्रवि॑णानि । नः॒ ॥
पुनानः पूयमानः उराणः । ' उराण उरु कुर्वाणः ' ( निरु. ६. १७) इति यास्कः । देवान् बहु कुर्वाणः इन्दुः सोमः नः अस्माकं प्रजाम् अपत्यादिका विश्वानि व्याप्तानि द्रविणानि धनानि च करत् करोतु । करोतेर्लङि रूपम् ॥
“May Indu, purified, extolling (the gods) bestow on us progeny and all kinds of wealth.”
Indu, while cleansed, keeping the people safe, shall give us all possessions for our own.
The drop being purified, being chosen, will make offspring and all goods for us.
Der Indu flammend – die Seinen liebend, verschaff uns alle – erwünschten Schätze.
Der geläuterte Saft möge, Nachkommenschaft erbittend, uns alle Reichtümer schaffen.

हे सोम अश्वो न अश्व इव निक्तः वसतीवरीभिरद्भिर्निक्त:२ वाजी वेगवांस्त्वं क्रत्वे क्रतवे प्रज्ञानाय दक्षाय बलाय धनाय धनार्थं च पवस्व क्षर ॥ ॥ २० ॥
“Flow, Soma, for intelligence, for strength, for wealth, strong and cleansed like a horse.”
Flow on for wisdom, Soma, and for power, as a strong courser bathed, to win the prize.
Purify yourself, Soma, for will and skill, washed down like a
prizewinning horse for the stake.

Läutere dich, Soma, zu Rat und Tat, wie ein Roß geschwemmt, als siegreicher Renner für den Kampfpreis!

तम् । ते॒ । सो॒तारः॑ । रस॑म् । मदा॑य । पु॒नन्ति॑ । सोम॑म् । म॒हे । द्यु॒म्नाय॑ ॥
सोतारः अभिषोतार ऋत्विजो हे सोम ते तव स्वभूतं रसं मदाय मदार्थं पुनन्ति । तदेवोच्यते । महे महते द्युम्नाय । द्युम्नं द्योततेर्यशो वान्नं वा । अन्नाय यशसे वा सोमं पुनन्ति शोधयन्ति । यद्वा । सोममभिषूयमाणं तं रसं पुनन्तीत्येकवाक्यतया योजनीयम् ॥
“(The priests) who press you purify your juice for exhilaration; (they purify) the Soma for abundant food.”
The pressers purify this juice of thine, the Soma, for delight, and lofty fame
The pressers purify that sap of yours for exhilaration, the soma for great heavenly brilliance.

Dir klären Presser – den Saft zum Rausche, den hellen Soma – zu grossem Reichthum.
Diesen Saft von dir läutern die Pressenden zum Rausche, den Soma zu großem Glanze.

शिशुं॑ जज्ञा॒नं हरिं॑ मृजन्ति प॒वित्रे॒ सोमं॑ दे॒वेभ्य॒ इन्दु॑म् ॥
शिशु॑म् । ज॒ज्ञा॒नम् । हरि॑म् । मृ॒ज॒न्ति॒ । प॒वित्रे॑ । सोम॑म् । दे॒वेभ्यः॑ । इन्दु॑म् ॥
शिशुम् अपां पुत्रभूतं जज्ञानं जायमानं हरिं हरितवर्णम् इन्दुं दीप्तं सोमं देवेभ्यः देवार्थं पवित्रे मृजन्ति ऋत्विजो मार्जयन्ति ।
“They cleanse the new-born infant, the green-tinted shining Soma, on the filter for the gods.”
They deck the Gold-hued Infant, newlyborn, even Soma, Indu, in the sieve for Gods.
They groom the tawny child just born, the soma in the filter, the drop for the gods.

Den neugebornen, – den goldnen, klären im Sieb sie, Soma, – den Trank den Göttern.
Den neugeborenen Jungen, den Falben, machen sie in der Seihe sauber, den Somasaft für die Götter.

चारुः कल्याणरूपः कविः क्रान्तप्रज्ञः इन्दुः सोमः अपाम् उदकानाम् उपस्थे उपस्थानेऽन्तरिक्षे पवित्रे वा मदाय मदार्थं भगाय भजनीयधनार्थं च पविष्ट पवते ॥
“The auspicious sage Indu flows upon the lap of the waters for exhilaration and for wealth.”
Fair Indu hath flowed on for rapturous joy, Sage for good fortune in the waters' lap.
The dear drop has been purified for exhilaration in the lap of the waters, the sage poet (has been purified) for good fortune.

Schon strömte Indu – zum Rausch der schöne, im Schooss der Wasser – zum Heil der weise.
Der Saft ward geläutert, angenehm zum Rausche, im Schoße der Gewässer, der Seher zum Glück.
Сок очистился, приятный для опьянения,
В лоне вод, поэт, для (нашей) счастливой доли.
बिभ॑र्ति॒ चार्विन्द्र॑स्य॒ नाम॒ येन॒ विश्वा॑नि वृ॒त्रा ज॒घान॑ ॥
बिभ॑र्ति । चारु॑ । इन्द्र॑स्य । नाम॑ । येन॑ । विश्वा॑नि । वृ॒त्रा । ज॒घान॑ ॥
स सोमः चारु कल्याणम् इन्द्रस्य नाम शरीरं बिभर्ति धारयति पोषयति । येन शरीरेणेन्द्रः विश्वानि सर्वाणि वृत्राणि पापरूपाणि रक्षांसि जघान हतवान् ।
“The auspicious (Soma) sustains Indra's body, by which he has slain all rākṣasas.”
He bears the beauteous name of Indra, that wherewith he overcame all demon foes.
He bears the name dear to Indra, with which he smashes all
obstacles.
Er trägt des Indra – geliebtes Wesen, durch das er alle – Verhassten todtschlug.
Er führt den angenehmen Namen des Indra, mit dem er alle Feinde erschlagen hat.
Он носит милое имя Индры,
Благодаря которому он разбил все препятствия.

विश्वे सर्वे देवासः देवाः गोभिः गोविकारैः श्रीतस्य मिश्रितं नृभिः कर्मनेतृभिर्ऋत्विग्भिः सुतस्य अभिषुतम् अस्य अमुं सोमं पिबन्ति । द्वितीयार्थे षष्ठ्यः ॥
“The universal gods drink of it, effused by the priests, mixed with milk and curds.”
All Deities are wont to drink of him, pressed by the men and blent with milk and curds.
All the gods drink of him, prepared with cows, pressed by men.

Von ihm geniessen – die Götter alle, dem milchgemischten, – vom Volk gepressten.
Von ihm trinken alle Götter, wenn er mit Milch gemischt und von den Männern ausgepreßt ist.
Его пьют все боги,
Когда он смешан с молоком, выжатый мужами.

सुवानः अभिषूयमाणः अत एव सहस्रधारः बहुधारायुक्तः सोमः अव्यम् अविभवं वारं वालं पवित्रं तिरः व्यवधायकं कुर्वन् प्र अक्षाः विविधं प्रक्षरति । क्षरतेर्लुङि रूपम् ॥
“Being effused the Soma in a thousand streams flows through the sheep's-hair filter.”
He hath flowed forth with thousand streams effused, flowed ihsough the filter and the sheep's long wool.
Being pressed, he has streamed forth in a thousand streams, across the filter, through the sheep’s fleece.

Gepresst nun rann er – in tausend Strömen quer durch die Seihe, – durch Widderwolle.
Ausgepreßt ist er in tausend Abflüssen über die Seihe, durch das Schafhaar weitergeflossen.
Выжатый, он потек вперед в тысячу потоков
Через цедилку сквозь сито из овечьей шерсти.
स वा॒ज्य॑क्षाः स॒हस्र॑रेता अ॒द्भिर्मृ॑जा॒नो गोभि॑: श्रीणा॒नः ॥
सः । वा॒जी । अ॒क्षा॒रिति॑ । स॒हस्र॑ऽरेताः । अ॒त्ऽभिः । मृ॒जा॒नः । गोऽभिः॑ । श्री॒णा॒नः ॥
वाजी वेगवान् बलवान् वा सः सोमः अक्षाः क्षरति । कीदृशः । सहस्ररेताः बहुरेतस्को बहूदकः अद्भिः वसतीवरीभिः मृजानः मृज्यमानः गोभिः गोविकारैः क्षीरादिभिः श्रीणानः श्रीयमाणः ॥
“The vigorous Soma flows in a thousand streams cleansed by the waters and mixing with the curds and milk.”
With endless genial flow the Strong hath run, purified by the waters, blent with milk.
The prizewinner has streamed in a thousand spurts, being groomed with waters, being prepared with cows.

Und schnell nun rann er – mit tausend Samen, geklärt vom Wasser, – gemischt mit Milchtrank.
Der Preisrenner ist geflossen, tausendsamig, mit Wasser sauber gemacht, mit Milch gemischt.
Потек этот захватчик награды с тысячным семенем,
Начищаемый водами, смешиваемый с молоком.

हे सोम नृभिः ऋत्विग्भिः येमानः नियम्यमानः अद्रिभिः ग्रावभिः सुतः अभिषुतः त्वम् इन्द्रस्य कुक्षा ॥ सप्तम्या डादेशः ॥ कुक्षावुदरभूते कलशे वा प्र याहि प्रकर्षेण गच्छ ॥
“Guided by the priests and effused with the stones go, Soma, to Indra's belly.”
Pressed out with stones, directed by the men, go fortli, O Soma, into Indra's throat.
O Soma, journey forth to the cheeks of Indra, being guided by men, pressed by stones.
Vor schreite, Indu, – in Indra's Bauch nun, gelenkt von Männern, – gepresst von Steinen.
Zieh fort in Indra´s Bauch, o Soma, von den Männern gelenkt, mit Steinen ausgepreßt!
Продвигайся вперед, о сома, к Индре в живот,
Направляемый мужами, выжатый камнями.

“The vigorous thousand-streamed Soma has been sent through, the filter for Indra.”
The mighty Soma with a thousand streams is poured to Indra through the cleansing sieve.
The prizewinner has been let loose across the filter, Soma of a thousand streams, for Indra.
Ergossen ist nun – durchs Sieb der schnelle, dem Indra Soma – in tausend Strömen.
Der Preisrenner ist losgesprengt über die Seihe für Indra, der Soma in tausend Strahlen.

वृष्णे कामानां वर्षित्रे इन्द्राय इन्द्रस्य मदाय मदार्थं मध्वः मधुनः रसेन गव्येन एनम् इन्दुं सोममृत्विजः अञ्जन्ति संयोजयन्ति ॥
“They mix the Soma with the liquid of the sweet (milk) for Indra, the showerer (of benefits) for his exhilaration.”
Indu they balm with pleasant milky juice for Indra, for the Steer, for his delight.
With the sap of honey they anoint him, the drop for Indra the bull, for exhilaration.

दे॒वेभ्यः॑ । त्वा॒ । वृथा॑ । पाज॑से । अ॒पः । वसा॑नम् । हरि॑म् । मृ॒ज॒न्ति॒ ॥
हे सोम अपः उदकानि वसानम् आच्छादयन्तं हरिं हरितवर्णं त्वा त्वां वृथा अनायासेन ऋत्विजः मृजन्ति शोधयन्ति । किमर्थम् । देवेभ्यः देवानां पानार्थं पाजसे तेषां बलार्थम् ॥
“They cleanse you readily, clothed with water, green-tinted, for the invigoration of the gods.”
Lightly, for sheen, they cleanse thee for the Gods, gold-coloured, wearing water as thy robe.
They groom you, the tawny one clothed in waters, for the gods, for (you to attain) your full dimension at will.
Den Göttern striegeln – sie dich, das Goldross, mit Lust zum Glanze – den Flut-umhüllten.
Dich, den in Wasser gekleideten Falben säubern sie für die Götter, auf daß du nach Belieben deine Formen annehmest.

इन्दुः सोमः इन्द्राय इन्द्रार्थं तोशते हन्यते अभिषूयते । नि तोशते नितरामभिषूयते । तोशतिर्वधकर्मा । कीदृशः । श्रीणन् गव्यैः क्षीरादिभिः श्रीयमाणः तानि मिश्रयन् वा उग्रः उद्गूर्णबलः अपः उदकानि वसतीवरीः रिणन् प्रेरयन् सोमोऽभिषूयते ॥ ॥ २१ ॥
“Indu is effused for Indra's, is effused downward-- fierce, mixing (with the milk), flowing (into) the water.”
Indu to Indra streams, yea, downward streams, Strong, flowing to the floods, and mingling -there.
The drop spills, spills down for Indra—the mighty one preparing and setting the waters to flow.
Indu träufelt dem Indra, träufelt herab, der kräftige siedend, Fluten entströmend.
Der Saft ergießt sich für Indra, der Gewaltige wird eingegossen, sich mit der Milch mischend, die Gewässer in Fluß bringend.
