ऋषिअसितः काश्यपो देवलो वा
देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
उपा॑स्मै गायता नर॒: पव॑माना॒येन्द॑वे । अ॒भि दे॒वाँ इय॑क्षते ॥
उप॑ । अ॒स्मै॒ । गा॒य॒त॒ । न॒रः॒ । पव॑मानाय । इन्द॑वे । अ॒भि । दे॒वान् । इय॑क्षते ॥
हे नरः नेतार ऋत्विजः यज्ञस्य देवान् इन्द्रादीन् अभि इयक्षते आभिमुख्येन यष्टुमिच्छते पवमानाय क्षरते अस्मै अभिषूयमाणाय इन्दवे सोमाय उप गायत उपगानं कुरुत ॥
“Sing, leaders of rites, to this pure-flowing, Indu, who is desirous of offering worship to the gods.”
SING forth to Indu, O ye men, to him who is purified,
Fain to pay worship to the Gods.
Sing to him, men, to the self-purifying drop,
as he seeks to attain the gods.
O Männer, diesem Indu singt Gesänge ihm, dem rieselnden, Den Göttern strebt er opfernd zu.
Ihr Herren, stimmt mit ein in den Gesang auf ihn, auf den sich läuternden Saft, der den Göttern zustrebt!

Павамане-соку!
Он стремится к богам.
अ॒भि ते॒ मधु॑ना॒ पयोऽथ॑र्वाणो अशिश्रयुः । दे॒वं दे॒वाय॑ देव॒यु ॥
अ॒भि । ते॒ । मधु॑ना । पयः॑ । अथ॑र्वाणः । अ॒शि॒श्र॒युः॒ । दे॒वम् । दे॒वाय॑ । दे॒व॒ऽयु ॥
हे सोम ते तव देवं देवनशीलं देवयु देवयुं देवकामं रसं देवाय देवनशीलायेन्द्राय मधुना पयः गव्येन पयसा अथर्वाणः ऋषयः अभि अशिश्रयुः अभ्यश्रीणन् । समस्कुर्वन्नित्यर्थः ॥
“The Atharvāṇa have mixed with sweet milk for the deity (Indra) your divine and god-devoted (juice).”
Together with thy pleasant juice the Atharvans have commingled milk,
Divine, devoted to the God.
The Atharvan-priests have now mixed your milk with honey—
mixed the god for the god in seeking the gods.
Die Priester haben wohl gemischt mit süssem Tranke deinen Saft, Den Gott dem Gotte gottgetreu.
Die Atharvan´s haben deine Milch mit süßer Milch gemischt, die göttliche, nach Gott verlangende für den Gott.

Твоей сладостью молоко,
Посвященное богам, бога – для бога.
स न॑: पवस्व॒ शं गवे॒ शं जना॑य॒ शमर्व॑ते । शं रा॑ज॒न्नोष॑धीभ्यः ॥
सः । नः॒ । प॒व॒स्व॒ । शम् । गवे॑ । शम् । जना॑य । शम् । अर्व॑ते । शम् । रा॒ज॒न् । ओष॑धीभ्यः ॥
हे राजन् दीप्यमान सोम सः प्रसिद्धस्त्वं नः अस्माकं गवे शं सुखं पवस्व क्षर । जनाय पुत्रादये च शं पवस्व । अर्वते अश्वाय च शं पवस्व । ओषधीभ्यः च शं पवस्व ॥
“Radiant (Soma), do you pour prosperity upon our cattle, upon our people, upon our horses, and upon our plural nts.”
Bring, by thy flowing, weal to kine, weal to the people, weal to steeds.
Weal, O thou King, to growing plants
Purify yourself as weal for our cow, weal for our people, weal for our charger,
weal for our plants, o king.
So riesle Heil für unser Vieh, für Männer Heil und für das Ross, O König, den Gewächsen Heil.
Läutere du dich zum Heil für unser Rind, zum Heil für unsere Leute, zum Heil für das Rennpferd, zum Heil für die Gewächse, o König!
Очищайся ты на благо нашей коровы,
На благо народу, на благо скаковому коню,
На благо, о царь, растениям!
ब॒भ्रवे॒ नु स्वत॑वसेऽरु॒णाय॑ दिवि॒स्पृशे॑ । सोमा॑य गा॒थम॑र्चत ॥
ब॒भ्रवे॑ । नु । स्वऽत॑वसे । अ॒रु॒णाय॑ । दि॒वि॒ऽस्पृशे॑ । सोमा॑य । गा॒थम् । अ॒र्च॒त॒ ॥
हे स्तोतारः बभ्रवे बभ्रुवर्णाय स्वतवसे स्वबलाय अरुणाय कदाचिदरुणवर्णाय दिविस्पृशे दिवं स्पृशते सोमाय नु क्षिप्रं गाथं स्तुतिरूपां वाचम् अर्चत । उच्चारयतेत्यर्थः ॥
“Recite praises to the brown-coloured self-vigorous (at times) red heaven-touching Soma. ”
Sing a praise-song to Soma brown of hue, of independent might.
The Red, who reaches up to heaven.
Now, to the self-powerful brown one, to the ruddy one who touches heaven,
to Soma, chant a song.
Dem flammenden, selbstkräftigen, dem rothen, der zum Himmel reicht, Dem Soma singet Lobgesang.
Dem braunen, selbststarken, rötlichen zum Himmel bewegten Steine ausgepreßt haben; rühret Süßigkeit in die Süßigkeit!
Исполните же песню для сомы,
Бурого, обладающего собственной силой,
Рыжего, касающегося неба!
हस्त॑च्युतेभि॒रद्रि॑भिः सु॒तं सोमं॑ पुनीतन । मधा॒वा धा॑वता॒ मधु॑ ॥
हस्त॑ऽच्युतेभिः । अद्रि॑ऽभिः । सु॒तम् । सोम॑म् । पु॒नी॒त॒न॒ । मधौ॑ । आ । धा॒व॒त॒ । मधु॑ ॥
हे ऋत्विजः हस्तच्युतेभिः हस्तप्रच्युतैः अद्रिभिः अभिषवग्रावभिः सुतम् अभिषुतं सोमं पुनीतन पवित्रे पावयत । अपि च मधौ मदकरे सोमे मधु गव्यं पयः आ धावत प्रक्षिपत ॥ ॥३६॥
“Purify the Soma which has been effused by the stones whirled by the hands; mix the sweet (milk) in the inebriating juice.”
Purify Soma when effused with stones which bands move rapidly,
And pour the sweet milk in the meath.
Purify the soma pressed with stones set in motion by the hands.
Rinse the honey in honey.
Den Soma reinigt, der gepresst von Hand-bewegten Steinen ist, Durchspült mit Süss den süssen Saft.
Läutert den Soma, den die von Händen bewegten Steine ausgepreßt haben; rühret Süßigkeit in die Süßigkeit!
Очищайте сому, выжатого
Камнями, руками, приведенными в движение!
В сладости растворите сладость!
नम॒सेदुप॑ सीदत द॒ध्नेद॒भि श्री॑णीतन । इन्दु॒मिन्द्रे॑ दधातन ॥
नम॑सा । इत् । उप॑ । सी॒द॒त॒ । द॒ध्ना । इत् । अ॒भि । श्री॒णी॒त॒न॒ । इन्दु॑म् । इन्द्रे॑ । द॒धा॒त॒न॒ ॥
हे ऋत्विजः नमसेत् नमस्कारेणैव उप सीदत सोममुपगच्छत । दध्नेत् दध्नैव अभि श्रीणीतन अभिश्रीणीत च । इन्द्रे इन्दुं सोमं दधातन धत्त च ।
“Approach with reverence, mix (the libation) with the curds, offer the Soma to Indra.”
With humble homage draw ye nigh; blend the libation with the curds:
To Indra offer Indu up.
Just with homage approach it. Just with curds mix it.
Place the drop in Indra.
Mit Ehrfurcht setzt euch zu ihm hin, und mischt mit warmen Molken ihn, Den Indu setzt dem Indra vor.
Naht euch unter Verneigung, mischet ihn mit saurer Milch, bringet den Saft an Indra!
Приближайтесь же с поклонением!
Украшайте кислым молоком!
Каплю помещайте в Индру!
अ॒मि॒त्र॒हा विच॑र्षणि॒: पव॑स्व सोम॒ शं गवे॑ । दे॒वेभ्यो॑ अनुकाम॒कृत् ॥
अ॒मि॒त्र॒ऽहा । विऽच॑र्षणिः । पव॑स्व । सो॒म॒ । शम् । गवे॑ । दे॒वेभ्यः॑ । अ॒नु॒का॒म॒ऽकृत् ॥
हे सोम अमित्रहा अमित्राणां हन्ता विचर्षणिः विद्रष्टा देवेभ्यः अनुकामकृत् अभीष्टस्य कर्ता त्वं गवे अस्माकं गवे शं सुखं पवस्व क्षर ॥
“Soma, slayer of our enemies, the wise one, the fulfiller of the desires of the gods, do you shed prosperity on our cattle.”
Soma, foe-que chief o'er men, doing the will of pour forth
Prosperity upon our kine.
As the limitless smiter of foes, o Soma, purify yourself as weal for our cow,
acting for the gods according to their desire.
Die Feinde schlagend, eifervoll, o Soma, riesle Heil dem Rind, Den Göttern wunscherfüllend zu.
Als ausgezeichneter Feindetöter läutere dich, o Soma, zum Heil für das Rind, den Göttern willfahrend!
Убивающий недругов, очень подвижный,
Очищайся, о сома, на благо корове,
Исполняя желание богов!
इन्द्रा॑य सोम॒ पात॑वे॒ मदा॑य॒ परि॑ षिच्यसे । म॒न॒श्चिन्मन॑स॒स्पति॑: ॥
इन्द्रा॑य । सो॒म॒ । पात॑वे । मदा॑य । परि॑ । सि॒च्य॒से॒ । म॒नः॒ऽचित् । मन॑सः । पतिः॑ ॥
हे सोम मनश्चित् मनसो ज्ञाता मनसस्पतिः ईश्वरस्त्वम् इन्द्राय इन्द्रस्य पातवे पानाय मदाय च परि षिच्यसे परितः पात्रेषु सिच्यसे ॥
“Soma, who are cognizant of the mind, lord of the mind, you are poured forth for Indra to drink for his exhilaration.”
Heart-knower, Sovran of the heart, thou art effused, O Soma, that Indra may drink thee and rejoice.
You are poured around, Soma, for Indra to drink, for his exhilaration— perceiving thoughts as master of thought.
Zum Trunk dem Indra wirst du rings zum Rausch, o Soma, ausgesprengt, den Geist erkennend, Geistes Herr!
Für Indra zum Trinken, zum Rausche wirst du Soma eingegossen, du der Gedanken-kenner, des Gedankens Meister.
Тебе разливают кругом, о сома,
Индре для питья, для опьянения,
(Ты,) знаток мысли, повелитель мысли.
पव॑मान सु॒वीर्यं॑ र॒यिं सो॑म रिरीहि नः । इन्द॒विन्द्रे॑ण नो यु॒जा ॥
पव॑मान । सु॒ऽवीर्य॑म् । र॒यिम् । सो॒म॒ । रि॒री॒हि॒ । नः॒ । इन्दो॒ इति॑ । इन्द्रे॑ण । नः॒ । यु॒जा ॥
हे इन्दो क्लिद्यमान पवमान सोम त्वं सुवीर्यं शोभनवीर्योपेतं रयिं धनं नः अस्माकं संबन्धिना इन्द्रेण युजा सहायेन नः अस्मभ्यं रिरीहि देहि ॥ ॥ ३७ ॥
“Pure-dropping Soma, grant us wealth with excellent male offspring, grant it to us, Indu, with Indra as our ally.”
O Soma Pavamana, give us riches and heroic strength,-
Indu! with. Indra for ally.
Self-purifying Soma, give us wealth and an abundance of heroes,
o drop, along with Indra as our yokemate.
O Soma, schenk uns Heldenkraft und Reichthum uns, o rieselnder, Mit Indra, Indu; uns gesellt.
O Soma Pavamana, gewähre uns die Meisterschaft, Reichtum, uns, o Saft, mit Indra im Bunde!
О Павамана, обилие прекрасных мужей,
Богатство даруй нам, о сома,
С Индрой как с нашим союзником, о капля!
