ऋषिअसितः काश्यपो देवलो वा
देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
प्र नि॒म्नेने॑व॒ सिन्ध॑वो॒ घ्नन्तो॑ वृ॒त्राणि॒ भूर्ण॑यः । सोमा॑ असृग्रमा॒शव॑: ॥
प्र । नि॒मेन॑ऽइव । सिन्ध॑वः । घ्नन्तः॑ । वृ॒त्राणि॑ । भूर्ण॑यः । सोमाः॑ । अ॒सृ॒ग्र॒म् । आ॒शवः॑ ॥
निम्नेन प्रवणेन देशेन सिन्धवः नद्यः इव तथा वृत्राणि शत्रून् घ्नन्तः भूर्णयः क्षिप्रगमनाः आशवः व्याप्ताः सोमाः प्र असृग्रं प्रगच्छन्ति द्रोणकलशं प्रति ॥
“Like rivers falling down a steep plural ce, so that rapid foe-destroying pervading Soma-streams hurry (to the pitcher).”
LIKE rivers down a steep descent, slaying the Vrtras, full of zeal,
The rapid Soma-streams have flowed.
Like rivers along a downward slope, smashing obstacles, turbulent, the swift soma juices have been sent surging.
Wie Flüsse am Gesenke hin, die Feinde tödtend, eifervoll Sind schnelle Soma's hingeströmt.
Abwärts wie die Ströme haben sich die ungeduldigen raschen Somatränke ergossen, die Feinde erschlagend.
Как реки – низиной,
Бурные, убивающие врагов
Соки сомы потекли, стремительные.
अ॒भि सु॑वा॒नास॒ इन्द॑वो वृ॒ष्टय॑: पृथि॒वीमि॑व । इन्द्रं॒ सोमा॑सो अक्षरन् ॥
अ॒भि । सु॒वा॒नासः॑ । इन्द॑वः । वृ॒ष्टयः॑ । पृ॒थि॒वीम्ऽइ॑व । इन्द्र॑म् । सोमा॑सः । अ॒क्ष॒र॒न् ॥
सुवानासः सूयमानाः इन्दवः द्रवरूपाः सोमासः सोमाः इन्द्रं प्रीणयितुम् अभि अक्षरन् । किमिव । वृष्टयः पृथिवीमिव ॥
“The Soma-drops, as they are expressed, flow to Indra like the rains falling upon the earth.”
The drops of Soma juice effused fall like the rain upon the earth:
To Indra flow the Soma-streams.
As they are pressed, the drops, the soma juices, like rains to the earth, have flowed to Indra.
Zu Indra rann der Somatrank, wie Regen auf die Erde strömt, Die ausgepressten Tropfen hin.
Die ausgepreßten Somasäfte sind zu Indra geflossen wie die Regenströme zur Erde.

Как капли дождя – на землю,
Соки сомы полились к Индре.
अत्यू॑र्मिर्मत्स॒रो मद॒: सोम॑: प॒वित्रे॑ अर्षति । वि॒घ्नन्रक्षां॑सि देव॒युः ॥
अति॑ऽऊर्मिः । म॒त्स॒रः । मदः॑ । सोमः॑ । प॒वित्रे॑ । अ॒र्ष॒ति॒ । वि॒ऽघ्नन् । रक्षां॑सि । दे॒व॒ऽयुः ॥
अत्यूर्मिः । अतिक्रान्ता ऊर्मयो यस्मात् सोऽत्यूर्मिः । अतिप्रवृद्ध इत्यर्थः। मत्सरः मादनशील: मदः मदात्मकः सोमः पवित्रे अर्षति गच्छति । किं कुर्वन् । रक्षांसि विघ्नन् घातयन् देवयुः देवान् कामयमानोऽर्षतीति संबन्धः ॥
“Soma, with swelling waves, exhilarating, inebriating, flows to the straining-cloth, destroying the rākṣasas, and devoted to the gods.”
With swelling wave the gladdening drink, the Soma, flows into.the sieve,
Loving the Gods and slaying fiends.
The exhilarating drink of exhilaration, the soma, rushes into the filter beyond the waves,
smashing aside the demons, seeking the gods.
Hochwallend rinnt der Somatrank zur Seihe, der berauschende, Gespenster tilgend, Göttern hold.
Die Wogen überholend rinnt der berauschende Rauschtrank Soma in die Seihe, die Unholde vertreibend, nach dem Gotte verlangend.
Волной переливаясь через край, пьянящее опьянение -
Сома струится в цедилке,
Убивая ракшасов, преданный богам.
आ क॒लशे॑षु धावति प॒वित्रे॒ परि॑ षिच्यते । उ॒क्थैर्य॒ज्ञेषु॑ वर्धते ॥
आ । क॒लशे॑षु । धा॒व॒ति॒ । प॒वित्रे॑ । परि॑ । सि॒च्य॒ते॒ । उ॒क्थैः । य॒ज्ञेषु॑ । व॒र्ध॒ते॒ ॥
अयं सोमः कलशेषु आ धावति । तदर्थं पवित्रे परि षिच्यते अध्वर्युभिः । उक्थैः स्तोत्रैः यज्ञेषु निमित्तेषु वर्धते प्रवृद्धो भवति ।
“It flows to the pitchers, it is poured out upon the straining-cloth, it is magnified at sacrifices by praises.”
It hastens to the pitchers, poured upon the sieve it waxes strong
At sacrifices through the lauds.
He runs into the tubs; he is poured around into the filter.
He grows strong through the hymns at the sacrifices.
Er strömet in die Schalen hin, ergiesset durch die Seihe sich Und wächst durch Sprüche bei dem Fest.
Er läuft in die Krüge, er wird auf die Seihe umgegossen, während der Opfer wird er durch Loblieder gestärkt.

Переливается кругами по цедилке,
Усиливается песнями на жертвоприношениях.
अति॒ त्री सो॑म रोच॒ना रोह॒न्न भ्रा॑जसे॒ दिव॑म् । इ॒ष्णन्त्सूर्यं॒ न चो॑दयः ॥
अति॑ । त्री । सो॒म॒ । रो॒च॒ना । रोह॑न् । न । भ्रा॒ज॒से॒ । दिव॑म् । इ॒ष्णन् । सूर्य॑म् । न । चो॒द॒यः॒ ॥
हे सोम त्वं त्री रोचना त्रीणि रोचनानि त्रील्ँलोकान् अति अतिक्रम्य रोहन उपरिस्थं दिवं द्युलोकं भ्राजसे प्रकाशयसि । तथा इष्णन् गच्छन् सूर्यं न सूर्यं च चोदयः चोदयसि प्रेरयसि । नशब्दश्चार्थे ।
“Soma, mounting beyond the three worlds, you illumine heaven, and moving, you urge on the sun.”
Soma, thou shinest mounting heaven as 'twere above light's triple realm,
And moving secm'st to speed the Sun.
You blaze beyond the three luminous realms like the (sun) ascending to heaven, o Soma.
Sending forth (speech), you have spurred it on, like the sun.
Du strahlst der Sonne gleich, die durch drei Räume auf zum Himmel steigt, Und eilend gleichsam treibst du sie.
Wie der über die drei Lichträume zum Himmel steigende Sonnengott erstrahlst du, Soma. Wie der Treiber die Sonne spornst du deine Rosse an.
Ты сверкаешь, о сома, словно поднимаясь
На небо через три светлых пространства.
Посылая (голос), ты как бы поторопил солнце.
अ॒भि विप्रा॑ अनूषत मू॒र्धन्य॒ज्ञस्य॑ का॒रव॑: । दधा॑ना॒श्चक्ष॑सि प्रि॒यम् ॥
अ॒भि । विप्राः॑ । अ॒नू॒ष॒त॒ । मू॒र्धन् । य॒ज्ञस्य॑ । का॒रवः॑ । दधा॑नाः । चक्ष॑ति । प्रि॒यम् ॥
अभि अनूषत अभिष्टुवन्ति विप्राः मेधाविनः स्तोतारः । कुत्र। यज्ञस्य मूर्धन् मूर्धनि । शिरोवदुत्तमेऽभिषवदिवस इत्यर्थः । कीदृशास्ते । कारवः कर्तारः परिचर्याया यागानुष्ठातारो वा । चक्षसि दृष्टरि सोमे प्रियं दधानाः अभ्यनूषतेति समन्वयः ॥
“The sage performers (of pious rites) glorify (the Soma) at the head of the sacrifice, entertaining affection for him the all-beholding.”
To him, the head of sacnfice, singers and bards have sung their songs,
Offering what he loves to see.
The inspired poets, the bards, have roared to him at the head of the sacrifice,
keeping the dear one in their sight.
Die Sänger haben dich begrüsst, die Dichter an des Fests Beginn; Erwünschtes zeigend deinem Blick.
Die redekundigen Dichter haben ihm zugeschrieen an der Spitze des Opfers, den lieben Soma vor Augen habend.
Вдохновенные (поэты) приветствовали криками
(Его, находящегося) во главе жертвы, (эти) воспеватели,
Имея любимого перед глазами.
तमु॑ त्वा वा॒जिनं॒ नरो॑ धी॒भिर्विप्रा॑ अव॒स्यव॑: । मृ॒जन्ति॑ दे॒वता॑तये ॥
तम् । ऊँ॒ इति॑ । त्वा॒ । वा॒जिन॑म् । नरः॑ । धी॒भिः । विप्राः॑ । अ॒व॒स्यवः॑ । मृ॒जन्ति॑ । दे॒वऽता॑तये ॥
हे सोम तमु तमेव त्वा त्वां वाजिनम् अन्नवन्तं गमनवन्तं वा नरः नेतारः विप्राः मेधाविनोऽध्वर्वा“वदयः धीभिः कर्मभिः मृजन्ति शोधयन्ति देवतातये यज्ञार्थम् । किमिच्छवः । अवस्यवः अन्नमिच्छवः॥
“Sages, leaders of rites, desirous of sustenance, purify you who are the giver of food, with pious rites for the offering.”
The men, the sages with their hymns, eager for help, deck thee strong &teed,
Deck thee for service of the Gods.
The men, the inspired poets, seeking help, groom you, the prizewinning horse,
with their insights, for the divine conclave.
So streicheln hülfesuchend dich, das Ross, die Männer durch Gebet Mit Lied die Sänger zu dem Fest.
Dich, den Preisrenner, putzen die beredten Männer gunstsuchend mit frommen Gedanken zum Gottesdienst aus.
Это тебя, коня-победителя, мужи
Вдохновенные, ищущие помощи,
Помыслами начищают для службы богам.
मधो॒र्धारा॒मनु॑ क्षर ती॒व्रः स॒धस्थ॒मास॑दः । चारु॑ॠ॒ताय॑ पी॒तये॑ ॥
मधोः॑ । धारा॑म् । अनु॑ । क्ष॒र॒ । ती॒व्रः । स॒धऽस्थ॑म् । आ । अ॒स॒दः॒ । चारुः॑ । ऋ॒ताय॑ । पी॒तये॑ ॥
हे सोम त्वं मधोः मधुररसस्य धारामनु क्षर प्रवहन्। तीव्रः तीव्ररसः सन् सधस्थं सहस्थानमभिषवस्थानं पवित्रं वा आ असदः सीद। चारुः चरणशीलः सन् ऋताय यज्ञार्थं पीतये देवानां पानाय ॥ ॥ ७ ॥
“Pour forth the stream of the sweet beverage; sit down, sharp-flavoured in the receptacle, alert for drinking at the sacrifice.”
Flow onward to the stream of meath rest efficacious in thy home,
Fair, to be drunk at sacrifice.
Flow following the stream of honey. You, the sharp (soma), have taken your seat,
pleasing to be drunk for truth.
Dem Strom des Methes rinne nach, du starker, setz' dich auf den Sitz, Dem Heiligen beliebt zum Trunk.
Laß den Strom des Süßen fließen! Du, der Scharfe, hast dich auf deinen Platz gesetzt, angenehm für den Wahrhaften zum Trunke.
Излей поток сладости!
Резкий сел на свое место,
Приятный для питья по закону.
