ऋषिअसितः काश्यपो देवलो वा
देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
सोमा॑ असृग्रमा॒शवो॒ मधो॒र्मद॑स्य॒ धार॑या । अ॒भि विश्वा॑नि॒ काव्या॑ ॥
सोमाः॑ । अ॒सृ॒ग्र॒म् । आ॒शवः॑ । मधोः॑ । मद॑स्य । धार॑या । अ॒भि । विश्वा॑नि । काव्या॑ ॥
आशवः शीघ्राः सोमाः असृग्रम् असृग्रन् सृज्यन्ते । मधोः मधुरस्य मदस्य मदकरस्य धारया असृग्रमिति संबन्धः । किं प्रति उच्यते । अभि लक्षीकृत्य विश्वानि सर्वाणि काव्या काव्यानि स्तोत्राणि प्रति । स्तोत्रसमय इत्यर्थः ।
“The swift-flowing Soma-juices have issued in a stream of the sweet exhilarating (beverage), at (the recital of) all the praise (of the sages).”
SWIFT Soma drops have been effused in streams of meath, the gladdening drink,
For sacred lore of every kind.
The swift soma juices have surged forth in a stream of honey, of
exhilaration,
toward all our poems.
Die schnellen Soma's sind entsandt im Strom des süssen Wonnetranks Zu allen Lobgesängen hin.
Die raschen Rennpferde, die Somasäfte sind mit dem Guß des süßen Rauschtranks losgelassen, um alle Sehergaben zu gewinnen.
Выпущены быстрые соки сомы
Потоком сладкого пьянящего напитка,
(Чтобы поддержать) все поэтические силы.
अनु॑ प्र॒त्नास॑ आ॒यव॑: प॒दं नवी॑यो अक्रमुः । रु॒चे ज॑नन्त॒ सूर्य॑म् ॥
अनु॑ । प्र॒त्नासः॑ । आ॒यवः॑ । प॒दम् । नवी॑यः । अ॒क्र॒मुः॒ । रु॒चे । ज॒न॒न्त॒ । सूर्य॑म् ॥
प्रत्नासः पुराणाः केचित् आयवः शीघ्रगमना अश्वाः नवीयः नवतरं पदम् अनु अक्रमुः अनुक्रमन्ते । रूपकव्याहारेण सोमाः स्तूयन्ते । रुचे दीप्त्यै सूर्यं जनन्त कुर्वन्ति । दीप्तं कुर्वन्तीत्यर्थः । सोमप्यायनेन हि चन्द्रो रोचते ।
“Ancient swift-going (horses), they (the juices) have traversed anew field-- they have a genitive rated a sun to give light.”
Hither to newer. resting-place the ancient Living Ones are come.
They made the Sun that he might shine.
The ancient Āyus have marched along a newer track.
They have begotten the sun, for it to shine.
Die alten muntern Wanderer der neusten Fussspur folgten sie, Die Sonne zeugten sie zum Glanz.
Die Ayu´s haben nach alter Weise die neueste Spur verfolgt. Sie erzeugten die Sonne, auf daß sie leuchte.

Проследовали по новому пути:
Они породили солнце для блеска.
आ प॑वमान नो भरा॒र्यो अदा॑शुषो॒ गय॑म् । कृ॒धि प्र॒जाव॑ती॒रिष॑: ॥
आ । प॒व॒मा॒न॒ । नः॒ । भ॒र॒ । अ॒र्यः । अदा॑शुषः । गय॑म् । कृ॒धि । प्र॒जाऽव॑तीः । इषः॑ ॥
हे पवमान सोम त्वं नः अस्मभ्यम् अर्यः अरेः अदाशुषः अप्रयच्छतः गयं गृहं गृहोपलक्षितं धनम् आ भर आहर । तथास्मभ्यं प्रजावतीरिषः च कृधि कुरु ॥
“Bring to us, purifier, the house of our enemy who presents no libations-- bestow upon us progeny-abounding food.”
O Pavamana, bring to us the unsacrificing foeman's wealth,
And give us food with progeny.
Bring here to us, self-purifying one, the patrimony of the impious stranger. Produce refreshments along with progeny.
O bringe, rieselnder, uns her des gottvergessnen Feindes Schatz Und schaff uns kinderreiches Gut.
O Pavamana, bring du uns den Besitz des kargen hohen Herrn, schaffe gute Speisen samt Kindern!
О Павамана, принеси нам
Имущество чужого, не почитающего (наших богов)!
Создай услады, состояшие из потомства!
अ॒भि सोमा॑स आ॒यव॒: पव॑न्ते॒ मद्यं॒ मद॑म् । अ॒भि कोशं॑ मधु॒श्चुत॑म् ॥
अ॒भि । सोमा॑सः । आ॒यवः॑ । पव॑न्ते । मद्य॑म् । मद॑म् । अ॒भि । कोश॑म् । म॒धु॒ऽश्चुत॑म् ॥
आयवः गन्तारः सोमासः सोमाः मद्यं मदकरं रसम् अभि पवन्ते क्षरन्ति । तथा मधुश्चुतं मधुस्राविणं कोशम् । रसाधारेण कोशशब्देन तत्रामिश्रितो रसो लक्ष्यते। तम् अभि पवन्त इति शेषः ॥
“The swift-flowing Soma-juices diffuse exhilarating wine-- they flow to the honey-shedding receptacle.”
The living Somas being cleansed diffuse exhilarating drink,
Turned to the vat which drips with meath.
The soma juices, the Āyus, purify themselves into the exhilarating drink of exhilaration,
(going) toward the cask dripping with honey.
Die muntern Soma's lassen hell den Trank hinrieseln, der berauscht, Zur Kufe, die von Honig trieft.
Die lebensgebenden Somatränke läutern sich zum berauschenden Rauschtrank nach der von Süßigkeit überfließenden Kufe zu.
Подвижные соки сомы
Очищаются, (чтоб дать) пьянящее опьянение,
(Чтобы попасть) в сосуд, сочащийся сладостью.
सोमो॑ अर्षति धर्ण॒सिर्दधा॑न इन्द्रि॒यं रस॑म् । सु॒वीरो॑ अभिशस्ति॒पाः ॥
सोमः॑ । अ॒र्ष॒ति॒ । ध॒र्ण॒सिः । दधा॑नः । इ॒न्द्रि॒यम् । रस॑म् । सु॒ऽवीरः॑ । अ॒भि॒श॒स्ति॒ऽपाः ॥
सोमः अर्षति गच्छति । कीदृशः सः। धर्णसिः धारको जगतां तथा इन्द्रियम् इन्द्रियवर्धकं रसं दधानः धारयन् सुवीरः सुवीर्यः अभिशस्तिपाः अभिशस्तेः पाता। अभितो हिंसा ततो रक्षक इत्यर्थः। सोमपानं ब्रह्महत्यादिनिन्दामनुमार्ष्टीति प्रसिद्धम् ॥
“The Soma flows, the sustainer (of the world), bearing a sense-invigorating essence-- heroic-- a protector against calumny.”
Soma gows on intelligent, possessing sap and mighty strength,
Brave Hero who repels the curse.
The soma rushes steadily, acquiring Indrian strength as its essence, affording good heroes, protecting against imprecations.
Der Soma strömet kraftbegabt, ergiessend Saft, den Indra liebt, Vor Fluch bewahrend, heldenreich.
Soma rinnt ausdauernd, den indrischen Saft enthaltend, der Meister, der vor übler Nachrede schützt.
Течет крепкий сома,
Несущий сок для Индры,
Обилие сыновей, защищающий от проклятья.
इन्द्रा॑य सोम पवसे दे॒वेभ्य॑: सध॒माद्य॑: । इन्दो॒ वाजं॑ सिषाससि ॥
इन्द्रा॑य । सो॒म॒ । प॒व॒से॒ । दे॒वेभ्यः॑ । स॒ध॒ऽमाद्यः॑ । इन्दो॒ इति॑ । वाज॑म् । सि॒सा॒स॒सि॒ ॥
हे सोम सधमाद्यः । सधमादो यज्ञः । तदर्हस्त्वम् इन्द्राय देवेभ्यः चान्येभ्यः पवसे क्षरसि । हे तादृश इन्दो सोम अस्मभ्यं वाजम् अन्नं सिषाससि दातुमिच्छसि ॥
“Soma, who are worthy of the sacrifice, you flow to Indra and to the gods; you, Indu, vouchsafe to give us food.”
For Indra, Soma! thou art cleansed, a feast-companion for the Gods:
1ndu, thou fain wilt win us strength
You purify yourself for Indra, o Soma, and for the gods as their shared exhilaration.
O drop, you strive to win the prize.
Dem Indra riesle, Soma du, den Göttern bei dem Opfermahl, O Indu, Kraft verleihst du gern.
Für Indra läuterst du dich, o Soma, mit den Göttern das Gelage teilend. O Saft, du begehrst den Siegespreis zu erringen.
Для Индры, о сома, ты очищаешься,
Для богов, (ты,) достойный пира.
О капля, ты хочешь захватить награду.
अ॒स्य पी॒त्वा मदा॑ना॒मिन्द्रो॑ वृ॒त्राण्य॑प्र॒ति । ज॒घान॑ ज॒घन॑च्च॒ नु ॥
अ॒स्य । पी॒त्वा । मदा॑नाम् । इन्द्रः॑ । वृ॒त्राणि॑ । अ॒प्र॒ति । ज॒घान॑ । ज॒घन॑त् । च॒ । नु ॥
मदानां मदकराणां मध्येऽतिशयेन मदकरम् अस्य अमुं सोमं पीत्वा वृत्राणि शत्रून् अप्रतिगतः सन् इन्द्रः जघान हतवान् । नु क्षिप्रं जघनत् च । हन्तु चेदानीमपि ॥ ॥१३॥
“Having drunk of this chief of exhilarating draughts, Indra irresistible has slain his foes, and may he ever slay them.”
When he had drunken draughts of this, Indra smote down resistless foes:
Yea, smote them, and shall smite them still.
Having drunk of it, of its exhilarating drinks, Indra smashed the
unopposable obstacles,
and he shall smash them now.
Nach dem Genusse seines Safts schlug Indra ohne Widerstand Die Feinde, schlägt sie künftig auch.
Wann Indra von dessen Rauschtränken getrunken hat, hat er die Feinde, denen keiner gewachsen war, erschlagen und wird sie noch weiter erschlagen.
Испив его, (вкуси его) опьянений,
Индра, не знающий себе равных,
Убивал и будет убивать врагов.
