देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
ए॒ष दे॒वो अम॑र्त्यः पर्ण॒वीरि॑व दीयति । अ॒भि द्रोणा॑न्या॒सद॑म् ॥
ए॒षः । दे॒वः । अम॑र्त्यः । प॒र्ण॒वीःऽइ॑व । दी॒य॒ति॒ । अ॒भि । द्रोणा॑नि । आ॒ऽसद॑म् ॥
देवः द्योतमानः अमर्त्यः मरणरहितः एषः सोमः द्रोणानि द्रोणकलशानि अभि अभिलक्ष्य आसदम् आसदनार्थं पर्णवीरिव यथा पक्षी तथा वेगेन दीयति गच्छति ॥
“This divine immortal (Soma) hastens as a bird to settle on the sacrificial vessels.”
HERE present this Immortal God flies, like a bird upon her wings,
To settle in the vats of wood.
This god, the immortal, flies like a bird on the wing
toward the wooden cups to take his seat.
Es flieget der Unsterbliche gleich einem Vogel hier der Gott, Zu setzen in die Kufen sich.
Dieser unsterbliche Gott fliegt wie ein beschwingter Vogel, um sich auf die Holzgefäße zu setzen.

ए॒षः । दे॒वः । वि॒पा । कृ॒तः । अति॑ । ह्वरां॑सि । धा॒व॒ति॒ । पव॑मानः । अदा॑भ्यः ॥
विपा अङ्गुल्या । ‘अथर्यो विपः' इत्यङ्गुलिनामसु पाठात् । कृतः अभिषुतः एषः सोमः देवः पवमानः क्षरन् अदाभ्यः केनाप्यहिंसितश्च सन् ह्ररांसि शत्रून् अति धावति हन्तुमभिगच्छति ॥
“This divine (Soma), expressed by the fingers, and dropping inviolable, rushes against the enemies.”
This God, made ready with the hymn, runs swiftly through the winding ways,
Inviolable as he flows.
This god, created by poetic inspiration, streaks across the tangles (of sheep’s wool)
purifying himself, impossible to deceive.
Gezeugt vom Priester rieselnd strömt durch das Geflecht der Wolle hin Der Gott, der unverletzliche.
Dieser Gott, durch Zurede bewogen, rennt über die Hindernisse, sich läuternd, nicht irre zu führen.

Мчится сквозь препоны,
Павамана, которого не обмануть.

ए॒षः । दे॒वः । वि॒प॒न्युऽभिः॑ । पव॑मानः । ऋ॒त॒युऽभिः॑ । हरिः॑ । वाजा॑य । मृ॒ज्य॒ते॒ ॥
पवमानः क्षरन् एषः सोमः देवः विपन्युभिः स्तोतृभिः ऋतायुभिः यज्ञकामैः हरिः अश्व इव वाजाय संग्रामार्थं मृज्यते स्तुतिभिरलंक्रियते ॥
“This divine (Soma), as it drops, is adorned (with hymns) by the sacrifice-desiring priests as a horse for battle.”
This God while flowing is adorned, like a bay steed for war, by men
Devout and skilled in holy songs.
This god, the tawny one, purifying himself,
is groomed for the prize by the admiring (poets) who pursue the truth.
Gestriegelt wird der rieselnde von frommen Sängern dieser Gott, Zum Wettlauf als ein lichtes Ross.
Dieser Gott, während er sich läutert, wird von den wahrheitsliebenden Lobrednern, der Falbe für den Siegergewinn geputzt.

ए॒षः । विश्वा॑नि । वार्या॑ । शूरः॑ । यन्ऽइ॑व । सत्व॑ऽभिः । पव॑मानः । सि॒सा॒स॒ति॒ ॥
पवमानः क्षरन् शूरः वीरः एषः सोमो देवः विश्वानि सर्वाणि वार्या वरणीयाणि धनानि सत्वभिः बलैः यन्निव गच्छन्निव सिषासति अस्मदर्थं संभक्तुमिच्छति ॥
“This strong one, as it drops, seems to encompass all desirable things with its power and seeks to bestow them upon us.”
He, like a warrior going forth with heroes, as he flows along
Is fain to win all precious boons.
This one, like a champion traveling with his warriors,
strives to win all desirable things, while he purifies himself.
Er strebt nach allen Gütern hin, sie zu erbeuten wie ein Held Mit Streiterschar, der rieselnde.
Dieser, während er sich läutert, wünscht wie ein mit seinen Soldaten ausziehender Held alles Wertvolle zu gewinnen.

ए॒षः । दे॒वः । र॒थ॒र्य॒ति॒ । पव॑मानः । द॒श॒स्य॒ति॒ । आ॒विः । कृ॒णो॒ति॒ । व॒ग्व॒नुम् ॥
पवमानः क्षरन् एषः सोमः देवः रथर्यति अस्मदीयं यागं प्रत्यागमनाय रथं कामयते । दशस्यति आगत्य चास्मभ्यमभिलषितं प्रयच्छति। वग्वनुं शब्दम् आविष्कृणोति । अभिषूयमाणः प्रकटयति ॥ ॥ २० ॥
“This divine (Soma), as it drops, prepares its chariot (to come to us); it flings us our boons, it utters a sound.”
This God, as he is flowing on, speeds like a car and gives his gifts:
He lets his voice be heard of all
This god rides on a chariot; while he purifies himself, he shows his favor and makes manifest his noise.
Zu Wagen fährt der rieselnde, und huldvoll zeigt sich dieser Gott, Er lässt erschallen sein Getön.
Dieser Gott fährt zu Wagen, sich läuternd ist er huldvoll; er ruft Gemurmel hervor.

Павамана оказывает милости,
Шум (давильных камней) он делает явным.

ए॒षः । विप्रैः॑ । अ॒भिऽस्तु॑तः । अ॒पः । दे॒वः । वि । गा॒ह॒ते॒ । दध॑त् । रत्ना॑नि । दा॒शुषे॑ ॥
विप्रैः मेधाविभिः स्तोतृभिः अभिष्टुतः परितः स्तुतः एषः सोमः देवः दाशुषे हविषां प्रदात्रे यजमानाय रत्नानि रमणीयानि धनानि दधत् धारयन् प्रयच्छन् अपः वसतीवरीः वि गाहते प्रविशति ॥
“This divine (Soma), praised by the priests and giving wealth to the worshipper, plural nges into the waters.”
Praised by the sacred bards, this God dives into waters, and bestows
Rich gifts upon the worshipper.
This one, praised by the inspired poets, the god, plunges through the waters,
establishing treasures for the pious man.
In Wasser taucht sich dieser Gott, gepriesen von der Sängerschar, Und spendet Schatz dem Huldiger.
Dieser Gott, der von den Redekundigen gepriesen wird, taucht ins Wasser, dem Opferspender Kleinode bringend.

Вдохновенными (поэтами), ныряет в воды,
Доставляя сокровища (своему) почитателю.

ए॒षः । दिव॑म् । वि । धा॒व॒ति॒ । ति॒रः । रजां॑सि । धार॑या । पव॑मानः । कनि॑क्रदत् ॥
धारया पवमानः क्षरन् एषः सोमः कनिक्रदत् अभिषूयमाणः शब्दं कुर्वन् रजांसि लोकान् तिरः तिरस्कुर्वन् यागात् दिवं स्वर्गं वि धावति गच्छति ॥
“Making a sound as it drops in a continued stream it rushes across the worlds into heaven.”
Away he rushes with his stream, across the regions, into heaven,
And roars as he is flowing on.
This one streaks through heaven, across the airy spaces in his stream, whinnying again and again as he purifies himself.

Er ist's, der durch den Himmel rinnt, im Strome durch die Lüfte dringt, Es wiehert laut der rieselnde.
Dieser durcheilt den Himmel, durch die Lüfte mit seinem Strome sich läuternd, wiehernd.
Этот (бог) мчится на небо
Сквозь пространства со (своим) потоком,
Павамана, громко ревущий.

ए॒षः । दिव॑म् । वि । आ । अ॒स॒र॒त् । ति॒रः । रजां॑सि । अस्पृ॑तः । पव॑मानः । सु॒ऽअ॒ध्व॒रः ॥
पवमानः क्षरन् एषः सोमः स्वध्वरः सुयज्ञः अस्पृतः कैनाप्यहिंसितश्च सन् रजांसि लोकान् तिरः तिरस्कुर्वन् यज्ञात् दिवं प्रति व्यासरत् विसरति गच्छति ॥
“As it drops, completing the sacrifice, it passes across the worlds in inviolable to heaven.”
While flowing, meet for sacrifice, he hath gone up to heaven across
The regions, irresistible.
This one has now run through heaven, across the airy spaces, and cannot be recaptured—
good at the rite as he purifies himself.

Er ist's, der durch den Himmel strömt und durch die Lüfte unverwehrt, An Opfern reich der rieselnde.
Dieser hat den Himmel durcheilt, durch die Lüfte eilend ohne losgelassen zu werden, sich läuternd, gutes Opfer wirkend.

Сквозь пространства, непокоренный,
Павамана, чей образ прекрасен.

ए॒षः । प्र॒त्नेन॑ । जन्म॑ना । दे॒वः । दे॒वेभ्यः॑ । सु॒तः । हरिः॑ । प॒वित्रे॑ । अ॒र्ष॒ति॒ ॥
हरिः हरितवर्णः देवः द्योतमानः एषः सोमः प्रत्नेन पुराणेन जन्मना जननेन देवेभ्यः देवार्थं सुतः अभिषुतः सन् पवित्रे स्थातुम् अर्षति गच्छति ॥
“Divine and expressed for the gods by an ancient birth, the golden-hued (Soma) flows in the straining cloth.”
After the 'way of ancient time, this God, pressed out for Deities,
Flows tawny to the straining-cloth.
This one, pressed in the way of his ancient birth, the god pressed for gods,
the tawny one, rushes into the filter.
Er ist es, der nach alter Art, ein Gott für Götter ausgepresst, Goldfarben durch die Seihe fliesst.
Dieser Gott, nach alter Erzeugung für die Götter ausgepreßt, der Falbe fließt in der Seihe.
Этот бог, древним способом
Выжатый для богов,
Золотистый, течет по цедилке.
ए॒ष उ॒ स्य पु॑रुव्र॒तो ज॑ज्ञा॒नो ज॒नय॒न्निष॑: । धार॑या पवते सु॒तः ॥
ए॒षः । ऊँ॒ इति॑ । स्यः । पु॒रु॒ऽव्र॒तः । ज॒ज्ञा॒नः । ज॒नय॑न् । इषः॑ । धार॑या । प॒व॒ते॒ । सु॒तः ॥
स्यः एष उ सोम एव पुरुव्रतः बहुकर्मा जज्ञानः जायमान एव इषः अन्नानि जनयन् उत्पादयन् सुतः अभिषुतः सन् धारया पवते क्षरति ॥ ॥ २१ ॥
“Produced at our rite and producing abundant food the Soma, efficacious in sacrifices, flows effused in a stream.”
This Lord of many Holy Laws, even at his birth engendering strength,
Effused, flows onward in a stream.
And this one here, he of much authority, giving birth to refreshing drinks while he is being born,
purifies himself in a stream when he is pressed.
Und dieser wirkungsreiche Gott, der kaum gezeugt, Erquickung zeugt, Im Strome rieselt er gepresst.
Dieser unter vielen frommen Bräuchen erzeugt, Labsale erzeugend, läutert sich ausgepreßt in Strömen.
Этот самый, обильный обетами,
Едва родившись, порождая услады,
Выжатый (сок) очищается потоком.
