देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
प्र धारा॑ अस्य शु॒ष्मिणो॒ वृथा॑ प॒वित्रे॑ अक्षरन् । पु॒ना॒नो वाच॑मिष्यति ॥
प्र । धाराः॑ । अ॒स्य॒ । शु॒ष्मिणः॑ । वृथा॑ । प॒वित्रे॑ । अ॒क्ष॒र॒न् । पु॒ना॒नः । वाच॑म् । इ॒ष्य॒ति॒ ॥
शुष्मिणः बलवतः अस्य सोमस्य धाराः पवित्रे दशापवित्रे वृथा अप्रयत्नेन अक्षरन् स्रवन्ति । तदानीं पुनानः पूयमानः सोमः वाचं स्तुतिं स्वीयं ध्वनिं वा इष्यति प्रेरयति ।
“The streams of this strong Soma flow without effort into the filter; purified, he excites praise.”
STREAMS of this Potent One have flowed easily to the straining-cloth:
While he is cleansed he lifts his voice.
His streams have flowed forth, those of the tempestuous one, into the filter at will.
While becoming purified, he sends out his speech.
Es rinnen seine Ströme hin die starken lustig in das Sieb, Sich läuternd stimmt Gesang er an.
Dieses Ungestümen Strahlen haben sich ausgelassen auf die Seihe ergossen. Während er sich läutert, entsendet er seine Stimme.

इन्दुः॑ । हि॒या॒नः । सो॒तृऽभिः॑ । मृ॒ज्यमा॑नः । कनि॑क्रदत् । इय॑र्ति । व॒ग्नुम् । इ॒न्द्रि॒यम् ॥
अयम् इन्दुः दीप्तः सोमः हियानः प्रेर्यमाणः व्याप्रियमाणः । कैः । सोतृभिः ऋत्विग्भिः । पश्चाद्दशापवित्रे मृज्यमानः शोध्यमानः कनिक्रदत् शब्दं कुर्वन् इन्द्रियम् इन्द्रस्य संबन्धिनमिन्द्रियमपि ----- करं वग्नुं शब्दम् इयर्ति प्रेरयति ग्रहणसमये ॥
“This Indu, urged by the priests, and purified with a sound in the filter, utters loud voice (in the oblation). ”
Indu, by pressers urged to speed, bellowing out while beautified.
Sends forth a very mighty sound.
The drop, being impelled by the pressers, being groomed, ever roaring, raises a call appropriate to Indra.
Gespornt, gestriegelt von der Schar der Presser, stimmet wiehernd an Indu den Ton, den Indra liebt.
Der Saft, von den Pressenden in Lauf gesetzt, gereinigt, erhebt brüllend ein indrahaftes Geschrei.
Сок, поторапливаемый выжимателями,
Громко ревет, начищаясь.
Он издает звук, свойственный Индре.
आ न॒: शुष्मं॑ नृ॒षाह्यं॑ वी॒रव॑न्तं पुरु॒स्पृह॑म् । पव॑स्व सोम॒ धार॑या ॥
आ । नः॒ । शुष्म॑म् । नृ॒ऽसह्य॑म् । वी॒रऽव॑न्तम् । पु॒रु॒ऽस्पृह॑म् । पव॑स्व । सो॒म॒ । धार॑या ॥
हे सोम त्वं धारया आ पवस्व । किम्। शुष्मं बलम् । कीदृशम् । नृषाह्यं नृणामस्मद्विरोधिनामभिभावुकं वीरवन्तं पुत्रोपेतं पुरुस्पृहं बहुभिः स्पृहणीयं शुष्ममा पवस्व । एतस्य लाभाय पवस्वेत्यर्थः । रसस्रावे सति होमद्वारा तत्सिद्धे शुष्मं पवस्वेत्युपचर्यते ॥
“Pour upon us in a stream, Soma, foe-subduing strength, associated with male offspring and desired by many.”
Pour on us, Soma, with thy stream manconquering might which many crave,
Accompanied with hero sons.
Attract for us tempestuous force that can overcome men, much-craved force consisting of heroes,
when you purify yourself in a stream, o Soma.
O riesle, Soma, uns im Strom die Kraft zu, welche Männer zwingt, Und viel begehrt ist, heldenreich.
Bring uns durch deine Läuterung männerbezwingende Kraft, söhnereiche, vielbeneidete, o Soma, in deinem Strome!
Очищаясь потоком, о сома, принеси нам
Неистовство, способное покорять мужей,
Дающее сыновей, многожеланное!
प्र सोमो॒ अति॒ धार॑या॒ पव॑मानो असिष्यदत् । अ॒भि द्रोणा॑न्या॒सद॑म् ॥
प्र । सोमः॑ । अति॑ । धार॑या । पव॑मानः । अ॒सि॒स्य॒द॒त् । अ॒भि । द्रोणा॑नि । आ॒ऽसद॑म् ॥
अयं पवमानः सोमः धारया अति अतिक्रम्य देशापवित्रं प्र असिष्यदत् प्रस्यन्दते । किमर्थम् । द्रोणानि द्रोणकलशादीनि आसदम् आसादनाय ॥
“This purified Soma flows out in a stream to take its plural ce in the pitchers.”
Hither hath Pavamana flowed, Soma flowed hither in a stream,
To settle in the vats of wood.
Soma, purifying himself in a stream, has flowed forth, beyond (the filter), to the wooden cups to take his seat.
Im Strom ist Soma vorgeeilt, der durch die Seihe rieselnde, Zu setzen in die Kufen sich.
Sich läuternd ist der Soma im Strom über die Seihe geflossen, um sich in die Holzgefäße zu setzen.

अ॒प्सु त्वा॒ मधु॑मत्तमं॒ हरिं॑ हिन्व॒न्त्यद्रि॑भिः । इन्द॒विन्द्रा॑य पी॒तये॑ ॥
अ॒प्ऽसु । त्वा॒ । मधु॑मत्ऽतम॑म् । हरि॑म् । हि॒न्व॒न्ति॒ । अद्रि॑ऽभिः । इन्दो॒ इति॑ । इन्द्रा॑य । पी॒तये॑ ॥
हे इन्दो सोम अप्सु वसतीवरीषूदकेषु मधुमत्तमम् अतिशयेन मधुमन्तं हरिं हरितवर्णं त्वा त्वाम् अद्रिभिः अभिषवग्रावभिः हिन्वन्ति प्रेरयन्ति । किमर्थम् । इन्द्राय इन्द्रस्य पीतये पानाय ॥
“Indu, they press you forth by the stories, most sweet-flavoured and green-tinted, into the waters for Indra to drink.”
To waters with the stones they drive thee tawny-hued, most rich in sweets,
O Indu, to be Indra's drink.
They impel you, the most honeyed tawny one, in the waters with their stones,
for Indra to drink, o drop.
Dich senden sie, den süssesten, das Ross durch Steine in die Flut, Dem Indra, Indu, dich zum Trunk.
Ins Wasser treiben sie dich, den süßesten, goldfarbigen Falben mit den Steinen, o Saft, für Indra, zum Trunke.
В водах тебя, сладчайшего,
Золотистого, поторапливают камнями,
О капля, Индре для питья.
सु॒नोता॒ मधु॑मत्तमं॒ सोम॒मिन्द्रा॑य व॒ज्रिणे॑ । चारुं॒ शर्धा॑य मत्स॒रम् ॥
सु॒नोत॑ । मधु॑मत्ऽतमम् । सोम॑म् । इन्द्रा॑य । व॒ज्रिणे॑ । चारु॑म् । शर्धा॑य । म॒त्स॒रम् ॥
हे ऋत्विजः यूयं मधुमत्तमं मधुररसोपेतं सोममिन्द्राय वज्रिणे वज्रयुक्ताय सुनोत सुनुत । पुनः कीदृशम् । चारुं चरणीयं मत्सरं मदकरं शर्धाय अस्माकं बलायेन्द्रस्य पानाथ च सोमं सुनुतेति बूते यजमानः स्वीयान् ॥ ॥ २० ॥
“(Priests) express the most sweet-flavoured beautiful exhilarating Soma for Indra the thunderer, and for our invigoration.”
For Indra, for the Thunderer press the Soma very rich in sweets,
Lovely, inspiriting, for strength.
Press the most honeyed soma for Indra who bears the mace,
the dear, exhilarating one for his warrior band.

Dem blitzbewehrten Indra braut den Somatrank, den süssesten, Der lieb, berauschend ist der Schar.
Presset den süßesten Soma für den Keulenträger Indra aus, der angenehm für die Marutschar, berauschend!
