देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
प्र सु॑वा॒नो धार॑या॒ तनेन्दु॑र्हिन्वा॒नो अ॑र्षति । रु॒जद्दृ॒ळ्हा व्योज॑सा ॥
प्र । सु॒वा॒नः । धार॑या । तना॑ । इन्दुः॑ । हि॒न्वा॒नः । अ॒र्ष॒ति॒ । रु॒जत् । दृ॒ळ्हा । वि । ओज॑सा ॥
इन्दुः सोमः सुवानः सूयमानः हिन्वानः अध्वर्युणा प्रेर्यमाणः धारया तना पवित्रं प्र अर्षति गच्छति । अथ प्रत्यक्षेणोच्यते । दृळ्हा दृढान्यपि शत्रुपुराणि ओजसा बलेन वि रुजत् विरुजति विश्लथयति ॥
“Indu, when effused and expressed (by the priests) flows in a stream to the filter, breaking down strong plural ces by its strength.”
THE drop of Soma juice effused flows onward with this stream impelled.
Rending strong places with its might.
Being pressed, being impelled, the drop rushes forth in its full measure in a stream,
shattering the fastnesses by its might.
Im Strome rinnet fort und fort gebraut der Indu und entsandt, Das Feste brechend mit Gewalt.
Der ausgepreßte Saft rinnt zur Eile getrieben in anhaltendem Gusse; er zerbricht mit Kraft die Festen.
Выжатый сок (сомы) непрерывно течет вперед
Потоком, поторапливаемый (жрецом),
С силой проламывающий твердыни.
सु॒त इन्द्रा॑य वा॒यवे॒ वरु॑णाय म॒रुद्भ्य॑: । सोमो॑ अर्षति॒ विष्ण॑वे ॥
सु॒तः । इन्द्रा॑य । वा॒यवे॑ । वरु॑णाय । म॒रुत्ऽभ्यः॑ । सोमः॑ । अ॒र्ष॒ति॒ । विष्ण॑वे ॥
अयं सुतः अभिषुतः सोमः इन्द्राद्यर्थम् अर्षति गच्छति ॥
“The Soma effused proceeds to Indra, to Vāyu, to Varuṇa, to Maruts, to Viṣṇu.”
Poured forth to Indra, Varuna, to Vayu and the Marut hosts,
To Visnu, flows the Soma juice.
Pressed for Indra and Vāyu, for Varuṇa and the Maruts,
for Viṣṇu, the soma rushes.
Der Soma rinnt dahin, gepresst dem Indra, Vaju, Varuna, Dem Vischnu und der Marutschar.
Für Indra, Vayu, Varuna, für die Marut ausgepreßt, für Vishnu rinnt der Soma.
Выжатый для Индры, для Ваю,
Для Варуны, для Марутов,
Сома течет для Вишну.
वृषा॑णं॒ वृष॑भिर्य॒तं सु॒न्वन्ति॒ सोम॒मद्रि॑भिः । दु॒हन्ति॒ शक्म॑ना॒ पय॑: ॥
वृषा॑णम् । वृष॑ऽभिः । य॒तम् । सु॒न्वन्ति॑ । सोम॑म् । अद्रि॑ऽभिः । दु॒हन्ति॑ । शक्म॑ना । पयः॑ ॥
वृषाणं रससेक्तारं यतं नियतं सोमं वृषभिः रसस्य वर्षकैः अद्रिभिः ग्रावभिः सुन्वन्ति। शक्मना कर्मणा दुहन्ति अध्वर्य्वादयः पयः सोमरसम् । सोमं पयो दुहन्तीति द्विकर्मकोऽयम् ॥
“They press the crushed Soma as it pours forth its juice between the effusing stones, they milk out its juice by their acts.”
With stones they press the Soma forth, the Strong conducted by the strong:
They milk the liquor out with skill.
The bull controlled by bulls, the soma, do they press with stones.
They milk out its milk with their skill.
Mit Steinen pressen Soma sie, und Stiere lenken ihn, den Stier, Sie melken kräftig seinen Saft.
Den von Bullen gezügelten Bullen, den Soma pressen sie mit Steinen aus; sie melken mit Geschick die Milch.
Они выжимают сому камнями,
Быка, направленного быками.
Они умело выдаивают молоко.
भुव॑त्त्रि॒तस्य॒ मर्ज्यो॒ भुव॒दिन्द्रा॑य मत्स॒रः । सं रू॒पैर॑ज्यते॒ हरि॑: ॥
भुव॑त् । त्रि॒तस्य॑ । मर्ज्यः॑ । भुव॑त् । इन्द्रा॑य । म॒त्स॒रः । सम् । रू॒पैः । अ॒ज्य॒ते॒ । हरिः॑ ॥
त्रितस्य अपां पुत्रस्य सूक्तद्रष्टुर्ऋषेः सोऽयं मत्सरः मदकरः सोमः मर्ज्यो भुवत् शुद्धो भवति । तस्य यागार्थं शेषपानार्थं च । तथा इन्द्राय इन्द्रपानाय मर्ज्यः भुवत् । रूपैः रूपकैश्च क्षीरादिभिः हरिः हरितवर्णः सोमः सम् अज्यते ॥
“The exhilarating Soma is to be cleansed (for the sacrifice) of Trita, and for the drinking of Indra; the green-tinted (juice) is mixed with the ingredients.”
'Tis he whom Trita must refine, 'tis he who shall make Indra glad:
The Tawny One is decked with tints.
It becomes the one for Trita to groom; it becomes the drink of
exhilaration for Indra.
The tawny one is anointed with the forms (of milk).
Dem Trita sei zu läutern er, dem Indra sei berauschend er, Mit Schönheit wird das Ross geschmückt.
Er war für Trita zu putzen, er war für Indra berauschend; der Falbe wird mit seinen Farben gesalbt.
Да будет (он) достоин того, чтобы его начищал Трита!
Да будет он пьянящим для Индры!
Золотистый украшается всеми (своими) формами.
अ॒भीमृ॒तस्य॑ वि॒ष्टपं॑ दुह॒ते पृश्नि॑मातरः । चारु॑ प्रि॒यत॑मं ह॒विः ॥
अ॒भि । ई॒म् । ऋ॒तस्य॑ । वि॒ष्टप॑म् । दु॒ह॒ते । पृश्नि॑ऽमातरः । चारु॑ । प्रि॒यऽत॑मम् । ह॒विः ॥
ईम् एनं सोमम् ऋतस्य विष्टपं स्थानम् । यज्ञाश्रयमित्यर्थः । तादृशं पृश्निमातरः मरुतः अभि दुहते। किम् । प्रियतमम् इन्द्रादीनां हविः होमसाधनं चारु मनोहरम्। मरुत्प्रेरितवृष्ट्या सोमवृद्धेस्तद्दोग्धृत्वम् ॥
“The son fof Pṛśni milk this Soma at the plural ce of sacrifice, the most beautiful and grateful oblation (to the gods).”
Him do the Sons of Prsni milk, the dwelling-place of sacrifice,
Oblation lovely and most dear.
They whose mother is Pr̥śni [=Maruts] milk for themselves the cherished oblation dearest to them
toward the upper surface of truth.
Die Priçnisohne melken ihn sich auf des Opfers Stätte hin, Den schönen, liebsten Opfertrank.
Nach dem Höhepunkt des Gesetzes zu, melken die Söhne der Prisni das angenehme, liebste Opfer.
(Чтобы достигнуть) вершины закона,
(Маруты,) чья мать Пришни, выдаивают
Эту любимую, самую приятную жертву.
समे॑न॒मह्रु॑ता इ॒मा गिरो॑ अर्षन्ति स॒स्रुत॑: । धे॒नूर्वा॒श्रो अ॑वीवशत् ॥
सम् । ए॒न॒म् । अहु॑ताः । इ॒माः । गिरः॑ । अ॒र्ष॒न्ति॒ । स॒ऽस्रुतः॑ । धे॒नूः । वा॒श्रः । अ॒वी॒व॒श॒न् ॥
सम् अर्षन्ति संगच्छन्ते एनं सोमम् अह्रुताः अकुटिलाः गिरः अस्मदीयाः स्तुतयः सस्रुतः सरन्त्यः । ताश्च धेनूः प्रीणयित्रीः स्तुतीः वाश्रः शब्दयन् अवीवशत् कामयते सोमः ॥ ॥ २४ ॥
“Our sincere smooth-flowing praises approach him, and he, uttering a sound, welcomes the kine.”
To him in one unitcd stream th-,se songs flow on straight forward. he,
Loud voiced, hath made the milch-kine low.
These unswerving songs, flowing together, rush to him.
Bellowing, he has made the milk-cows bellow.
Ihm eilen diese Lieder zu im Strom, nicht weichend; brüllend hat Der Kühe Brüllen er erregt.
Sich vereinigend strömen zu ihm diese nicht abirrenden Reden zusammen. Der Brüller hat die Kühe zum Brüllen gebracht.
