ऋषिउचथ्यः
देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
उत्ते॒ शुष्मा॑स ईरते॒ सिन्धो॑रू॒र्मेरि॑व स्व॒नः । वा॒णस्य॑ चोदया प॒विम् ॥
उत् । ते॒ । शुष्मा॑सः । ई॒र॒ते॒ । सिन्धोः॑ । ऊ॒र्मेःऽइ॑व । स्व॒नः । वा॒णस्य॑ । चो॒द॒य॒ । प॒विम् ॥
हे सोम ते तव शुष्मासः शुष्मा वेगाः उत् ईरते उद्गच्छन्ति । तत्र दृष्टान्तः । सिन्धोः समुद्रस्य ऊर्मेरिव यथा तरङ्गात् स्वनः ध्वनिरुद्गच्छति तद्वदित्यर्थः । सः त्वं वाणस्य विसृष्टस्य बाणस्य नालस्य वा वादित्रविशेषस्य पविं शब्दम् । पविः भारती ' इति वाङ्नामसु पाठात् । चोदय प्रेरय । वेगेन स्यन्दमानस्त्वं विसृष्टबाणशब्दसदृशं शब्दं कुर्वित्यर्थः ॥
“Forth flow your mystery (streams), like the roar (issuing) from the ocean wave; emit your sound like that of a (rushing) arrow.”
LOUD as a river's roaring wave thy powers have lifted up themselves:
Urge on thine arrow's sharpened point.
Your snortings rise up like the roar of the wave of a river.
Spur on the wheel-rim of the music.
Es regen deine Kräfte sich wie wenn des Meeres Welle braust; Des Pfeiles Spitze mache scharf.
Deine Kräfte steigen auf wie von dem Flusse das Rauschen der Welle. Schärfe die Spitze der Rede, wie die Spitze des Pfeils!
प्र॒स॒वे त॒ उदी॑रते ति॒स्रो वाचो॑ मख॒स्युव॑: । यदव्य॒ एषि॒ सान॑वि ॥
प्र॒ऽस॒वे । ते॒ । उत् । ई॒र॒ते॒ । ति॒स्रः । वाचः॑ । म॒ख॒स्युवः॑ । यत् । अव्ये॑ । एषि॑ । सान॑वि ॥
हे सोम ते तव प्रसवे सति मखस्युवः यज्ञमिच्छतो यजमानस्य तिस्रो वाचः ऋग्यजुःसामात्मकानि त्रीणि वाक्यानि उदीरते उद्गच्छन्ति । कदेत्यत आह । यत् यदा सानवि व्युच्छ्रिते अव्ये अविभये पवित्रे एषि त्वं गच्छसि ।
“At your birth the three voices of the worshipper are uttered when you go to the summit of the fleece.”
At thine effusion upward rise three voices full of joy, when thou
Flowest upon the fleecy ridge.
At your stimulus there rise up three voices ready for combat [/seeking bounty],
when you go onto the back of the sheep.
Bei deinem Keltern steigen auf drei Lieder im Triumphgesang, Wenn du zum wollnen Gipfel gehst.
Auf dein Geheiß erheben sich die drei eine Gabe heischenden Reden, wenn du auf dem Schafrücken läufst.
अव्यो॒ वारे॒ परि॑ प्रि॒यं हरिं॑ हिन्व॒न्त्यद्रि॑भिः । पव॑मानं मधु॒श्चुत॑म् ॥
अव्यः॑ । वारे॑ । परि॑ । प्रि॒यम् । हरि॑म् । हि॒न्व॒न्ति॒ । अद्रि॑ऽभिः । पव॑मानम् । म॒धु॒ऽश्चुत॑म् ॥
प्रियं देवानां प्रीतिकरं हरिं हरितवर्णम् अद्रिभिः ग्रावभिरभिषुतं मधुश्चुतं मधुनो रसस्य च्यावयितारं पवमानं सोमम् अव्यः अवेः वारे वाले परि हिन्वन्ति ऋत्विजः परिप्रेरयन्ति ।
“(The priests) effuse with the stones into the fleece the beloved green-tinted purifying honey-dropping (Soma).”
On to the fleece they urge with stone the tawny well-beloved One,
Even Pavamana, dropping meath.
On the sheep’s fleece with stones they drive the dear tawny one around, purifying himself, dripping with honey.
Durch Steine spornen sie das Ross, ringsum das liebe Widderhaar, Den flammenden, der trieft von Meth.
Auf dem Schafhaar treiben sie mit Steinen den lieben Falben herum, den von Süßigkeit triefenden Pavamana.
आ प॑वस्व मदिन्तम प॒वित्रं॒ धार॑या कवे । अ॒र्कस्य॒ योनि॑मा॒सद॑म् ॥
आ । प॒व॒स्व॒ । म॒दि॒न्ऽत॒म॒ । प॒वित्र॑म् । धार॑या । क॒वे॒ । अ॒र्कस्य॑ । योनि॑म् । आ॒ऽसद॑म् ॥
हे मदिन्तम मादयितृतम कवे क्रान्तकर्मन् सोम अर्कस्य अर्चनीयस्येन्द्रस्य योनिं स्थानम् आसदं प्राप्तुं पवित्रम् अतीत्य धारया संपातेन आ पवस्व आभिमुख्येन क्षर । यद्यप्येषा पूर्वस्मिन्नध्याये ( ऋ. सं. ९.२५.६ ) व्याकृता तथापि मन्दमतीनां विस्मरणशङ्कया पुनर्व्याख्याता ॥
“Most exhilarating sage (Soma), flow in a stream to the filter to sit on Indra'slap.”
Flow with thy current to the sieve, O Sage most powerful to cheer,
To seat thee in the place of song.
Purify yourself in a stream in the filter, you most exhilarating poet, to sit in the womb of chant.
Hell riesle, o berauschendster, zur Seihe, weiser du, im Strom, Zu sitzen in des Glanzes Schooss.
Läutere dich, du Erzfeindetöter, von Lobliedern bejubelt, rein, lauter, unbegreiflich!
स प॑वस्व मदिन्तम॒ गोभि॑रञ्जा॒नो अ॒क्तुभि॑: । इन्द॒विन्द्रा॑य पी॒तये॑ ॥
सः । प॒व॒स्व॒ । म॒दि॒न्ऽत॒म॒ । गोभिः॑ । अ॒ञ्जा॒नः । अ॒क्तुऽभिः॑ । इन्दो॒ इति॑ । इन्द्रा॑य । पी॒तये॑ ॥
हे मदिन्तम मादयितृतम इन्दो सोम अक्तुभिः अञ्जनसाधनभूतैः गोभिः गोविकारैः पयोभिः अञ्जानः अज्यमानः संस्क्रियमाणः सः त्वम् इन्द्राय इन्द्रस्य पीतये पानाय पवस्व
“Most exhilarating Indu, being anointed with the unguents of milk and curds flow forth for Indra's drinking.”
Flow, Most Exhilarating! flow anointed with the milk for balm,
Indu, for Indra, for his drink.
Purify yourself, most exhilarating one, being anointed with cows as ointments [/through the nights],
o drop, for Indra to drink.
Hell riesle, du berauschendster, gesalbt mit Milch und hellem Glanz Zum Trunk dem Indra, Indusaft!
Läutere du dich, Berauschendster, mit der Kuhmilch als Salbe gesalbt, o Saft, für Indra zum Trunke!
