ऋषिउचथ्यः
देवतापवमानः सोमः

छन्दगायत्री
परि॑ द्यु॒क्षः स॒नद्र॑यि॒र्भर॒द्वाजं॑ नो॒ अन्ध॑सा । सु॒वा॒नो अ॑र्ष प॒वित्र॒ आ ॥
परि॑ । द्यु॒क्षः । स॒नत्ऽर॑यिः । भर॑त् । वाज॑म् । नः॒ । अन्ध॑सा । सु॒वा॒नः । अ॒र्ष॒ । प॒वित्रे॑ । आ ॥
द्युक्षः दीप्तः सनद्रयिः दीयमानधनः सोमः नः अस्माकं वाजं बलम् अन्धसा अन्नेन सह परि भरत् परिभरतु प्रयच्छतु। अथ प्रत्यक्षस्तुतिः । हे सोम सुवानः अभिषूयमाणस्त्वं पवित्रे आ अर्ष क्षर ॥
“May the glittering (Soma), the acquirer of wealth; bestow upon us strength together with food; hasten when effused to the filter.”
WEALTH-WINNER, dwelling in the sky, bringing us vigour with the juice,
Flow to the filter when effused.
Heaven-ruling, gaining wealth, bringing a prize to us with your stalk, being pressed, rush around into the filter.
Der Reichthumspender bring' uns Kraft durch seinen Saft, der himmlische, Gepresst ergiess dich in das Sieb.
Herumfahrend möge der Himmlische Reichtümer erwerbend, uns durch seinen Trank Gewinn einbringen. Ausgepreßt fließe auf die Seihe!
तव॑ प्र॒त्नेभि॒रध्व॑भि॒रव्यो॒ वारे॒ परि॑ प्रि॒यः । स॒हस्र॑धारो या॒त्तना॑ ॥
तव॑ । प्र॒त्नेभिः॑ । अध्व॑ऽभिः । अव्यः॑ । वारे॑ । परि॑ । प्रि॒यः । स॒हस्र॑ऽधारः । या॒त् । तना॑ ॥
हे सोम तव संबन्धी प्रियः देवानां प्रीतिकरः सहस्रधारः बहुधारः तना विस्तृतसारो रसः प्रत्नेभिः पुराणैः अध्वभिः मार्गैः अव्यः अवेः वारे वाले दशापवित्रे परि यात् परिगच्छति ॥
“Your juice dear (to the gods), flowing in a thousand streams, proceeds by ancient paths to the fleecy filter.”
So, in thine ancient ways, may he, beloved, with a thousand streams
Run o'er the fleecy straining-cloth.
Along your age-old routes, around onto the sheep’s fleece, the dear one drives, a thousand streams in extent.
Auf seinen alten Wegen geh der liebe durch das Widderhaar In tausend Strömen fort und fort.
Auf deinen alten Wegen kreise der beliebte Saft in tausend Strömen, in einem Zuge in dem Schafhaar.
च॒रुर्न यस्तमी॑ङ्ख॒येन्दो॒ न दान॑मीङ्खय । व॒धैर्व॑धस्नवीङ्खय ॥
च॒रुः । न । यः । तम् । ई॒ङ्ख॒य॒ । इ॒न्दो॒ इति॑ । न । दान॑म् । ई॒ङ्ख॒य॒ । व॒धैः । व॒ध॒स्नो॒ इति॑ वधऽस्नो । ई॒ङ्ख॒य॒ ॥
हे सोम चरुर्न चरुरिव यः पूर्णोदनो भवति तमीङ्खय अस्मान् प्रापय । अपि च हे इन्दो न इदानीं दानं देयम् ईङ्खय । हे वधस्नो प्रहारेण प्रस्रवणशील सोम वधैः ग्राव्णां प्रहारैः ईङ्खय ॥
“(Soma), send (us) him who is like a pot; Indu, send us now wealth; swift-flowing (Soma), send it with blows (of stones).”
Him who is like a caldron shake: O Indu, shake thy gift to us
Shake it, armed Warrior! with thine arms.
The one who is like a pot, give him a shove; give a shove to the one who doesn’t give on his own, o drop.
Give him a shove with your strokes, you striker.
Den schüttle, der dem Kessel gleicht, o Indu, schüttle Gaben her, Mit Schlägen, Schläger, schüttle ihn.
Der voll wie ein Topf ist, dem gib einen Anstoß! O Saft, gib der Schenkung gleichsam einen Anstoß! Mit Schlägen gib einen Anstoß, du Schlagfertiger!
नि शुष्म॑मिन्दवेषां॒ पुरु॑हूत॒ जना॑नाम् । यो अ॒स्माँ आ॒दिदे॑शति ॥
नि । शुष्म॑म् । इ॒न्दो॒ । एषा॑म् । पुरु॑ऽहूत । जना॑नाम् । यः । अ॒स्मान् । आ॒ऽदिदे॑शति ॥
हे पुरुहूत बहुभिराहूत इन्दो सोम त्वं यः शुष्मो येषां शत्रुजनानां बलम् अस्मान् आदिदेशति बाधार्थमाह्वयति एषां शत्रुजनानां तं शुष्मं बलं नि न्यक् कुर्विति शेषः ॥
“Indu, the invoked of many, overthrow the strength of those people who challenge us.”
Indu, invoked with many a prayer, bring down the vigour of these men,
Of him who threatens us with war.
(Strike) down the bluster of those people, o much-invoked drop,
of anyone who takes aim at us.
O Indu, solches Menschen Kraft o vielgerufner, schütt' herab, Der wider uns auf Unheil sinnt.
Halte, o Saft, die Wut dieser nieder, du Vielgerufener der Menschen, wer uns auch bedroht!
श॒तं न॑ इन्द ऊ॒तिभि॑: स॒हस्रं॑ वा॒ शुची॑नाम् । पव॑स्व मंह॒यद्र॑यिः ॥
श॒तम् । नः॒ । इ॒न्दो॒ इति॑ । ऊ॒तिऽभिः॑ । स॒हस्र॑म् । वा॒ । शुची॑णाम् । पव॑स्व । मं॒ह॒यत् ऽर॑यिः ॥
हे इन्दो सोम मंहयद्रयिः प्रदीयमानधनस्त्वं नः अस्माकम् ऊतिभिः ऊतिभ्यः । विभक्तिव्यत्ययः । रक्षार्थं शुचीनां शुद्धानां तव अंशभूतानां सोमानां शतं सहस्रं वा पवस्व क्षर ॥ ॥ ९ ॥
“Indu, do you who are the distributor of riches, pour forth for our protection a hundred or a thousand of your pure (streams).”
Indu, Wealth-giver, with thine help pour out for us a hundred, yea,
A thousand of thy pure bright streams.
With a hundred forms of help for us, o drop, or with a thousand
gleaming (soma drinks),
purify yourself, readying wealth.
Mit hundert Hülfen riesle hell, mit tausend glanzbegabten uns, O Indu, der du Schatz verleihst.
O Saft, mit hundert Hilfen oder mit tausend Wirkenskräften läutere dich uns Reichtum zuteilend!
