छन्दगायत्री
अ॒स्य प्र॒त्नामनु॒ द्युतं॑ शु॒क्रं दु॑दुह्रे॒ अह्र॑यः । पय॑: सहस्र॒सामृषि॑म् ॥
अ॒स्य । प्र॒त्नाम् । अनु॑ । द्युत॑म् । शु॒क्रम् । दु॒दु॒ह्रे॒ । अह्र॑यः । पयः॑ । स॒ह॒स्र॒ऽसाम् । ऋषि॑म् ॥
अस्य सोमस्य प्रत्नां पुराणां द्युतं द्योतमानां तनुम् अनु शुक्रं दीप्तं सहस्रसाम् अभिलषितस्यापरिमितस्य दातारम् ऋषिम् अतीन्द्रियस्य कर्मफलस्य द्रष्टारं पयः पातव्यं रसम् अह्रयः कवयः दुदुहे दुहन्ति ॥
“Towards Soma's ancient body the seers milk the flashing fluid, the sage who grants a thousand boons.”
AFTER his ancient splendour, they, the bold, have drawn the bright milk from
The Sage who wins a thousand gifts.
After his ancient splendour,
The bold ones have drawn the white milk
From the seer who winneth a thousand.
In accord with the age-old brilliance of this one, they have milked the gleaming, immoderate
milk from the seer who wins thousands.
Nachfolgend seinem alten Glanz, entziehn die Kecken hellen Trank Dem Sänger, der viel tausend schenkt.
Seinem altbekannten Glanze gemäß haben die nicht Schüchternen aus dem tausendgewinnenden Rishi die helle Milch herausgemolken.
В соответствии с его древним сиянием
Дерзкие надоили сверкающего
Молока, (подоив) риши, добывающего тысячи.
अ॒यं सूर्य॑ इवोप॒दृग॒यं सरां॑सि धावति । स॒प्त प्र॒वत॒ आ दिव॑म् ॥
अ॒यम् । सूर्यः॑ऽइव । उ॒प॒ऽदृक् । अ॒यम् । सरां॑सि । धा॒व॒ति॒ । स॒प्त । प्र॒ऽवतः॑ । आ । दिव॑म् ॥
अयं सोमः सूर्यइव यथा सूर्यः सर्वस्य लोकस्योपद्रष्टा तद्वत् कर्मणाम् उपदृक् उपद्रष्टा । अपि च अयं सोमः सरांसि । त्रिंशदुक्थपात्राणीति केचिद्वर्णयन्ति । अपरे तु त्रिंशदहोरात्राणि सरांसीति । तानि धावति गच्छति । तथा च यास्कः-’ तत्रैतद्याज्ञिका वेदयन्ते त्रिंशदुक्थपात्राणि माध्यंदिने सवन एकदेवतानि तान्येतस्मिन्काल एकेन प्रतिधानेन पिबन्ति तान्यत्र सरांस्युच्यन्ते । त्रिंशदपरपक्षस्याहोरात्रास्त्रिंशत्पूर्वपक्षस्येति नैरुक्ताः' (निरु. ५ . ११ ) इति । अपि चायं सोमः दिवम् अधिकृत्य सप्त प्रवतः सप्त नदीः आ तिष्ठति ॥
“He like the sun is the supervisor (of all acts); he hastens to the lakes, he unites with the seven down-descending rivers from heaven.”
In aspect he is like the Sun; he runneth forward to the lakes,
Seven currents flowing through the sky.
This one is a sight like the sun; this one runs to the lakes,
along the seven slopes, to heaven.
Er ist der Sonne gleich zu schaun, er strömet nach den Seen hin, Den sieben Himmelsströmen zu.
Dieser ist ein Anblick wie die Sonne; dieser läßt Seen, sieben Ströme zum Himmel fließen.
Он видом, словно солнце,
Он мчится к озерам,
К семи склонам до (самого) неба.
अ॒यं विश्वा॑नि तिष्ठति पुना॒नो भुव॑नो॒परि॑ । सोमो॑ दे॒वो न सूर्य॑: ॥
अ॒यम् । विश्वा॑नि । ति॒ष्ठ॒ति॒ । पु॒ना॒नः । भुव॑ना । उ॒परि॑ । सोमः॑ । दि॒वः । न । सूर्यः॑ ॥
पुनानः पूयमानः अयं सोमः विश्वानि सर्वाणि भुवना भुवनानि सर्वेषां भुवनानाम् उपरि तिष्ठति । तत्र दृष्टान्तमाह । देवो न सूर्यः । यथा सूर्यो देवः सर्वेषां भुवनानामुपरि तिष्ठति तद्वदयं सोमोऽपीत्यर्थः ॥
“The purified Soma, like the divine sun, abides above all regions.”
He, shining in his splendour, stands high over all things that exist-
Soma, a God as Surya is.
This one, being purified, stands above all beings
like the Sun-god: he is Soma.
Hoch über alle Wesen steigt empor der Soma, hellentflammt, Gleichwie die Sonne dieser Gott.
Dieser sich läuternde Soma steht über allen Welten wie Gott Surya.

Мирами, когда очищается,
Сома, подобен богу Сурье.
परि॑ णो दे॒ववी॑तये॒ वाजाँ॑ अर्षसि॒ गोम॑तः । पु॒ना॒न इ॑न्दविन्द्र॒युः ॥
परि॑ । नः॒ । दे॒वऽवी॑तये । वाजा॑न् । अ॒र्ष॒सि॒ । गोऽम॑तः । पु॒ना॒नः । इ॒न्दो॒ इति॑ । इ॒न्द्र॒ऽयुः ॥
हे इन्दो सोम इन्द्रयुः इन्द्रकामः पुनानः पूयमानस्त्वं नः अस्माकं देववीतये यज्ञाय गोमत: गोयुक्तानि वाजान् अन्नानि परि अर्षसि परितः क्षरेत्यर्थः ॥ ॥ ११ ॥
“Purified Indu, who are devoted to Indra, pour down for our sacrifice, food with milk and curds.”
Thou, Indu, in thy brilliancy, pourest on us, as Indra's Friend,
Wealth from the kine to feast the Gods.
To pursue the gods for us, you rush around the prizes consisting of cows, being purified, o drop, seeking Indra.
Du strömest rings zum Göttermahl uns rinderreiche Labung zu, Indu, entflammt, dem Indra hold.
Du umfließest zur Götterladung die in Kühen bestehenden Siegerpreise, wenn du dich läuterst, o Saft, nach Indra verlangend.
Вокруг нас для приглашения богов
Ты изливаешь награды, состоящие из коров,
Когда очищаешься, о сок, стремящийся к Индре.
