छन्दगायत्री
आ प॑वस्व सह॒स्रिणं॑ र॒यिं सो॑म सु॒वीर्य॑म् । अ॒स्मे श्रवां॑सि धारय ॥
आ । पव॑स्व । स॒ह॒स्रिण॑म् । र॒यिम् । सो॒म॒ । सु॒ऽवीर्य॑म् । अ॒स्मे इति॑ । श्रवां॑सि । धा॒र॒य॒ ॥
हे सोम त्वं सहस्रिणं बहुसंख्याकं सुवीर्यं शोभनवीर्यं रयिं धनम् आ पवस्व आभिमुख्येन क्षर । अपि च अस्मे अस्मासु श्रवांसि अन्नानि धारय स्थापय ॥
“Pour (upon us), Soma, thousand-fold wealth, with excellent male progeny, secure to us ample food.”
POUR hitherward, O Soma, wealth in thousands and heroic strength,
And keep renown secure for us.
In purifying yourself, o Soma, bring wealth in thousands and an
abundance of good heroes;
secure our claims to fame for us.

Läutere tausendfältigen Reichtum uns zu, o Soma, und die Meisterschaft; verleih uns Ruhm!
इष॒मूर्जं॑ च पिन्वस॒ इन्द्रा॑य मत्स॒रिन्त॑मः । च॒मूष्वा नि षी॑दसि ॥
इष॑म् । ऊर्ज॑म् । च॒ । पि॒न्व॒सः॒ । इन्द्रा॑य । म॒त्स॒रिन्ऽत॑मः । च॒मूषु॑ । आ । नि । सी॒द॒सि॒ ॥
हे सोम मत्सरिन्तमः अतिशयेन मदयितृतमस्त्वम् इन्द्राय इन्द्रार्थम् इषम् अन्नम् ऊर्जं रसं च पिन्वसे क्षरसि । अपि च चमूषु चमसेषु आ नि षीदसि तिष्ठसि ॥
“You who are most exhilarating effuse food and drink for Indra; you sit on the ladles.”
Thou makest food and vigour swell for Indra, best of gladdeners!
Within the cups thou seatest thee.
You swell refreshment and nourishment; most exhilarating for Indra, you sit down here in the cups.

Du lässest schwellen Kraft und Saft dem Indra, o berauschendster, In Schalen lässt du nieder dich.
Labsal und Stärkung gibst du in Fülle, für Indra der Berauschendste. Du setzest dich in den Gefäßen nieder.
सु॒त इन्द्रा॑य॒ विष्ण॑वे॒ सोम॑: क॒लशे॑ अक्षरत् । मधु॑माँ अस्तु वा॒यवे॑ ॥
सु॒तः । इन्द्रा॑य । विष्ण॑वे । सोमः॑ । क॒लशे॑ । अ॒क्ष॒र॒त् । मधु॑ऽमान् । अ॒स्तु॒ । वा॒यवे॑ ॥
इन्द्राय इन्द्रार्थं विष्णवे विष्ण्वर्थं च वायवे वाय्वर्थं च सुतः अभिषुतः यः सोमः कलशे द्रोणकलशे अक्षरत् क्षरति सोऽयं सोमः मधुमान् मधुररसवान् अस्तु भवतु ॥
“Soma effused for Indra and Viṣṇu and Vāyu drops into the pitcher; may he be sweet-flavoured.”
For Indra and for Visnu poured, Soma hath flowed into the jar:
May Vayu find it rich in sweets.
Pressed for Indra, for Viṣṇu, soma has streamed into the tub.
Let it be honeyed for Vāyu.

बभ्रवः बभ्रुवर्णाः आशवः शीघ्राः एते इमे सोमाः ऋतस्य उदकस्य धारया असृग्रं सृज्यन्ते । ह्वरांसि रक्षांस्यभिगच्छन्ति च ॥
“These swift-flowing tawny-coloured Soma juices, with a stream of water are let loose upon the rākṣasas.”
These Somas swift and brown of hue, in stream of solemn sacrifice
Have flowed through twisted obstacles,
These swift brown ones have surged across the tangles (of sheep’s wool), the soma juices, in a stream of truth.
Im Strom des Opfers haben sich ergossen diese flammenden, Die raschen Soma's durch das Netz,
Die braunen Renner wurden losgelassen über die Hindernisse, die Somasäfte in ordnungsmäßigem Strome,
इन्द्रं॒ वर्ध॑न्तो अ॒प्तुर॑: कृ॒ण्वन्तो॒ विश्व॒मार्य॑म् । अ॒प॒घ्नन्तो॒ अरा॑व्णः ॥
इन्द्र॑म् । वर्ध॑न्तः । अ॒प्ऽतुरः॑ । कृ॒ण्वन्तः॑ । विश्व॑म् । आर्य॑म् । अ॒प॒ऽघ्नन्तः॑ । अरा॑व्णः ॥
इन्द्रं वर्धन्तः वर्धयन्तः अप्तुरः उदकस्य प्रेरकाः विश्वं सोममस्मदीयकर्मार्थम् आर्यं भद्रं कृण्वन्तः कुर्वन्तः अराव्णः अदातॄन अपघ्नन्तः विनाशयन्तः । अभ्यर्षन्तीत्युत्तरया संबन्धः ॥ ॥ ३० ॥
“Augmenting Indra, urging the waters, making all our acts prosperous, destroying the withholders (of oblations).”
Performing every noble work, active, augmenting Indra's strength,
Driving away the godless ones.
Strengthening Indra, crossing the waters, making it all Ārya,
smashing away the non-givers,
Den Indra stärkend, rasch im Werk, verschaffend, was der Arjer wünscht, Verjagend die gehässigen.
Den Indra stärkend, das Wasser überwindend, alles arisch machend, die Mißgünstigen vertreibend.
सु॒ता अनु॒ स्वमा रजो॒ऽभ्य॑र्षन्ति ब॒भ्रव॑: । इन्द्रं॒ गच्छ॑न्त॒ इन्द॑वः ॥
सु॒ताः । अनु॑ । स्वम् । आ । रजः॑ । अ॒भि । अ॒र्ष॒न्ति॒ । ब॒भ्रवः॑ । इन्द्र॑म् । गच्छ॑न्तः । इन्द॑वः ॥
बभ्रवः बभ्रुवर्णाः सुताः अभिषुताः इन्दवः सोमाः इन्द्रम् आ गच्छन्तः आभिमुख्येन प्राप्नुवन्तः स्वं स्वकीयं रजः स्थानम् अनु प्रति अभ्यर्षन्ति अभिगच्छन्ति ॥
“The effused tawny-coloured Soma-juices going to Indra have to their own plural ce.”
Brown Soma-drops, effused that seek Indra, to their appropriate place
Flow through the region hitherward.
The pressed juices rush along their own realm, the brown ones,
the drops, going to Indra.

Die rothen Indu's ausgepresst, ergiessen durch den eignen Raum Der Luft zu Indra eilend sich.
Ausgepreßt rinnen die Braunen ihre eigene Strecke entlang, die Säfte, zu Indra gelangend.
अ॒या प॑वस्व॒ धार॑या॒ यया॒ सूर्य॒मरो॑चयः । हि॒न्वा॒नो मानु॑षीर॒पः ॥
अ॒या । प॒व॒स्व॒ । धार॑या । यया॑ । सूर्य॑म् । अरो॑चयः । हि॒न्वा॒नः । मानु॑षीः । अ॒पः ॥
हे सोम मानुषीः मनुष्याणां हितानि अपः उदकानि हिन्वानः प्रेरयंस्त्वं यया धारया सूर्यमरोचयः प्राकाशयः तया अया अनया धारया पवस्व क्षर ॥
“Flow with that stream with which you, Soma, light up the sun, urging on the waters beneficial to man.”
Flow onward with that stream of thine wherewith thou gavest Surya light,
Urging on waters good to men.
Purify yourself in the very stream with which you made the sun shine, impelling the waters belonging to Manu.
Mit diesem Strome riesle hell, mit dem die Sonne du entflammt, Entsendend menschenholde Flut.
Läutere dich in demselben Strome, mit dem du die Sonne leuchten und die menschlichen Gewässer laufen ließest!
अयु॑क्त॒ सूर॒ एत॑शं॒ पव॑मानो म॒नावधि॑ । अ॒न्तरि॑क्षेण॒ यात॑वे ॥
अयु॑क्त । सूरः॑ । एत॑शम् । पव॑मानः । म॒नौ । अधि॑ । अ॒न्तरि॑क्षेण । यात॑वे ॥
पवमानः पूयमानः सोमः मनावधि। मनुर्मनुष्यः । तस्मिन् मनुष्य इत्यर्थः । अन्तरिक्षेण यातवे गन्तुं सूरः सूर्यस्य एतशम् अश्वम् । ‘एतग्वः एतशः' इत्यश्वनामसु पाठात् । अयुक्त युङ्क्ते ॥
“The purified (Soma) harnesses the horse of the sun to travel through the firmament to man.”
He, Pavamana, high o'er man yoked the Sun's courser Etasa
To travel through the realm of air.
He has yoked Etaśa, (the steed) of the Sun, purifying himself in Manu’s presence,
to drive through the midspace.
Die Sonne hat ihr Ross geschirrt hellflammend in des Menschen Sitz, Zu fahren durch den Raum der Luft.
Der Pavamana hat unter Manu den Etasa der Sonne geschirrt, um durch die Luft zu fahren.
उ॒त त्या ह॒रितो॒ दश॒ सूरो॑ अयुक्त॒ यात॑वे । इन्दु॒रिन्द्र॒ इति॑ ब्रु॒वन् ॥
उ॒त । त्याः । ह॒रितः॑ । दश॑ । सूरः॑ । अ॒यु॒क्त॒ । यात॑वे । इन्दुः॑ । इन्द्रः॑ । इति॑ । ब्रु॒वन् ॥
उत अपि च इन्दुः सोमः इन्द्र इति ब्रुवन् त्याः ताः दश दशसंख्याका: हरितः दिशः प्रति यातवे गन्तुं सूरः सूर्यस्यैतशम् अयुक्त युनक्ति ॥
“And Indu exclaiming 'Indra!' harnesses the (horse of the) sun to go towards these ten regions.”
And those ten Coursers, tawny-hued, he harnessed that the Sun might come
Indu, he said, is Indra's self.
And these ten tawny mares of the Sun he has yoked, to drive,
the drop, announcing, “(I go) to Indra.”
Die zehn Goldrosse hat sich schon der Sonnengott zur Fahrt geschirrt, Der Indu, der sich Indra nennt.
Und die zehn Falbinnen der Sonne hat er angeschirrt, um zu fahren, also sprechend: "Der Saft ist Indra.
परी॒तो वा॒यवे॑ सु॒तं गिर॒ इन्द्रा॑य मत्स॒रम् । अव्यो॒ वारे॑षु सिञ्चत ॥
परि॑ । इ॒तः । वा॒यवे॑ । सु॒तम् । गिरः॑ । इन्द्रा॑य । म॒त्स॒रम् । अव्यः॑ । वारे॑षु । सि॒ञ्च॒त॒ ॥
हे गिरः स्तोतारः यूयं वायवे वाय्वर्थम् इन्द्राय इन्द्रार्थं च सुतम् अभिषुतं मत्सरं मदकरं सोमम् इतः अभिषवदेशादुद्धृत्य अव्यः अवेः वारेषु वालेषु परि षिञ्चत ॥ ॥ ३१ ॥
“Sprinkle worshipper, upon the woollen fleece the exhilarating (Soma) that has been effused in all directions for Vāyu and for Indra.”
Hence, singers, pour the gladdeningjuice to Vayu and to Indra, pour
The drops upon the fleecy cloth.
From here sprinkle in circles the soma pressed for Vāyu, the songs, (the soma) exhilarating to Indra,
onto the sheep’s fleece.
Dem Vaju und dem Indra giesst von hier den Saft, der Rausch erregt, O Sänger, durch das Widderhaar.
Ergießet von da dem Vayu den ausgepreßten Soma, die Lobreden, für Indra den berauschenden Soma auf die Schafhaare!
पव॑मान वि॒दा र॒यिम॒स्मभ्यं॑ सोम दु॒ष्टर॑म् । यो दू॒णाशो॑ वनुष्य॒ता ॥
पव॑मान । वि॒दाः । र॒यिम् । अ॒स्मभ्य॑म् । सो॒म॒ । दु॒स्तर॑म् । यः । दुः॒ऽनशः॑ । व॒नु॒ष्य॒ता ॥
हे पवमान °सोम यः रयिः वनुष्यता हिंसकेनं शत्रुणा दूणाशः नाशयितुमशक्यः तं शत्रुभिः दुष्टरं रयिं धनम् अस्मभ्यं विदाः देहि ॥
“Purified Soma, grant us wealth unassailable (by our foes), and which cannot be destroyed by the enemy.”
O Soma Pavamana, find wealth for us not to be assailed,
Wealth which the foeman may not win.
O self-purifying Soma, find wealth for us that is difficult to surpass, that is difficult to attain by one who craves it.
O schenk uns, Soma, flammender, den Schatz, der unentreissbar ist Und unerreichbar für den Feind.
O Pavamana, find uns Reichtum, der schwer zu überbieten ist, o Soma, der von dem Eifersüchtigen kaum zu erreichen ist!

अ॒भि । अ॒र्ष॒ । स॒ह॒स्रिण॑म् । र॒यिम् । गोऽम॑न्तम् । अ॒श्विन॑म् । अ॒भि । वाज॑म् । उ॒त । श्रवः॑ ॥
हे सोम त्वं सहस्रिणं बहुसंख्याकं गोमन्तं गोभिर्युक्तम् अश्विनम् अश्ववन्तं रयिं धनम् अभ्यर्ष अस्मानभिगमय । उत अपि च वाजं बलं श्रवः अन्नं चास्मान् अभि गमय ।
“Bring to us thousandfold wealth with cattle and horses; bring vigour and food.”
Send riches hither with thy stream in thousands, both of steeds and kine,
Send spoil of war and high renown.
Rush toward wealth in thousands of cows and of horses,
toward the prize of victory and fame.

Ströme her zu tausendfältigem Reichtum an Rindern und Rossen, zu Gewinn und Ruhm!
सोमो॑ दे॒वो न सूर्योऽद्रि॑भिः पवते सु॒तः । दधा॑नः क॒लशे॒ रस॑म् ॥
सोमः॑ । दे॒वः । न । सूर्यः॑ । अद्रि॑ऽभिः । प॒व॒ते॒ । सु॒तः । दधा॑नः । क॒लशे॑ । रस॑म् ॥
देवो न देव इव सूर्यः रोचमानः सोमः अद्रिभिः ग्रावभिः सुतः अभिषुतः सन् कलशे द्रोणकलशे रसं दधानः धारयन् पवते धारया क्षरति ॥
“Soma, like the radiant sun, when effused flows forth, depositing its juice in the pitcher.”
Soma the God, expressed with stones, like Surya, floweth on his way,
Pouring the juice within the jar.
Soma, like the Sun-god, purifies himself, pressed by stones,
placing his own sap in the tub.
Gepresst von Steinen rieselt hell der Soma gleich dem Sonnengott Und führt zur Schale seinen Saft.
Soma klärt sich wie der Gott Surya, wenn er mit den Steinen ausgepreßt ist, seinen Geschmack in dem Kruge annehmend.
ए॒ते धामा॒न्यार्या॑ शु॒क्रा ऋ॒तस्य॒ धार॑या । वाजं॒ गोम॑न्तमक्षरन् ॥
ए॒ते । धामा॑नि । आर्या॑ । शु॒क्राः । ऋ॒तस्य॑ । धार॑या । वाज॑म् । गोऽम॑न्तम् । अ॒क्ष॒र॒न् ॥
एते अभिषुताः इमे शुक्राः दीप्ताः सोमाः आर्या आर्याणां श्रेष्ठानां यजमानानां धामानि गृहान् प्रति गोमन्तं गोभिर्युक्तं वाजम् अन्नम् ऋतस्य उदकस्य धारया अक्षरन् क्षरन्ति ॥
“These brilliang Soma-juices (flowing) towards the dwellings of respectable (worshippers), effuse food and cattle in a stream of water.”
These brilliant drops have poured for us, in stream of solemn sacrifice,
Worshipful laws and strength in kine.
Across the Ārya domains these clear juices in a stream of truth
have flowed to a prize of cows.
Im Strom des Opfers gossen sie, die hellen, rinderreiches Gut Hin zu dem Sitz der Arier.
Diese Geklärten haben in ordnungsmäßigem Strome die arischen Eigenschaften und Gewinn von Rindern ergossen.
सु॒ता इन्द्रा॑य व॒ज्रिणे॒ सोमा॑सो॒ दध्या॑शिरः । प॒वित्र॒मत्य॑क्षरन् ॥
सु॒ताः । इन्द्रा॑य । व॒ज्रिणे॑ । सोमा॑सः । दधि॑ऽआशिरः । प॒वित्र॑म् । अति॑ । अ॒क्ष॒र॒न् ॥
वज्रिणे वज्रवते इन्द्राय इन्द्रार्थं सुताः अभिषुताः दध्याशिरः । दधि आशीराश्रयणद्रव्यं येषां ते दध्याशिरः । दधिसंस्कृताः सोमासः सोमाः पवित्रमति अतिक्रम्य अक्षरन् धारया क्षरन्ति ॥ ॥ ३२ ॥
“The Soma-juices mixed with curds effused for Indra, the wielder of the thunderbolt, flow through the filter.”
Over the cleansing sieve have flowed the Somas, blent with curdled milk,
Effused for Indra Thunder-armed.
Pressed for Indra the mace-bearer, the soma juices, mixed with curds, have streamed across the filter.

Dem Blitzer Indra ausgepresst, ergiessen durch die Seihe sich Die Somatränke milchgemischt.
Die für den Keulenträger Indra ausgepreßten Somasäfte, die mit saurer Milch gemischten sind über die Seihe geflossen.
प्र सो॑म॒ मधु॑मत्तमो रा॒ये अ॑र्ष प॒वित्र॒ आ । मदो॒ यो दे॑व॒वीत॑मः ॥
प्र । सो॒म॒ । मधु॑मत्ऽतमः । रा॒ये । अ॒र्ष॒ । प॒वित्रे॑ । आ । मदः॑ । यः । दे॒व॒ऽवीत॑मः ॥
हे सोम ते तव यः मदः रसः मधुमत्तमः अत्यन्तं मधुमान् देववीतमः अतिशयेन देवकामश्च तं रसं राये अस्माकं धनार्थं पवित्रे प्र आ अर्ष धारया क्षर ॥
“Soma, pour into the filter to bring us wealth (your juice), which is most sweet-flavoured, exhilarating and most desired by the gods.”
Soma, do thou most rich in sweets, a gladdening drink most dear to Gods,
Flow to the sieve to bring us wealth.
O Soma, as the most honeyed, rush forth into the filter for wealth, as the exhilarating drink that best pursues the gods.

Zu Reichthum ströme in das Sieb, o Soma, als das süsseste Gebräu, das götterlabendste.
Fließe weiter, o Soma, du der Süßeste, zu Reichtum auf die Seihe als der göttereinladendste Rauschtrank!
तमी॑ मृजन्त्या॒यवो॒ हरिं॑ न॒दीषु॑ वा॒जिन॑म् । इन्दु॒मिन्द्रा॑य मत्स॒रम् ॥
तम् । ई॒म् इति॑ । मृ॒ज॒न्ति॒ । आ॒यवः॑ । हरि॑म् । न॒दीषु॑ । वा॒जिन॑म् । इन्दु॑म् । इन्द्रा॑य । म॒त्स॒रम् ॥
हरिं हरितवर्णं वाजिनं बलिनं मत्सरं मदकरं तं पवमानम् ईम् एनम् इन्दुं सोमम् आयवः मनुष्या ऋत्विजः नदीषु वसतीवरीषु मृजन्ति मार्जयन्ति ।
“The priests cleanse in the (vasatīvarī) waters the green-tinted powerful exhilarating Indu for Indra.”
For Indra, living men adorn the Tawny Courser in the streams, Indu, the giver of delight.
Him do the Āyus groom in the rivers, the tawny prize-seeker,
the drop exhilarating to Indra.

हे सोम त्वं हिरण्यवत् सुवर्णोपेतम् अश्ववत् अश्वयुक्तं च वीरवत् पुत्राद्युपेतं च धनम् आ पवस्व अस्मान् प्रति क्षर । अपि च गोमन्तं पशुभिरुपेतं वाजम् अन्नम् आ भर अस्मभ्यमाहर ॥
“Soma, pour forth wealth of gold, horses and male offspring; bring us food and cattle.”
Pour for us, Soma, wealth in gold, in horses and heroic sons,
Bring hither strength in herds of kine.
In purifying yourself, o Soma, bring masses of gold, of horses, of heroes;
bring hither a prize of cows.

परि॒ वाजे॒ न वा॑ज॒युमव्यो॒ वारे॑षु सिञ्चत । इन्द्रा॑य॒ मधु॑मत्तमम् ॥
परि॑ । वाजे॑ । न । वा॒ज॒ऽयुम् । अव्यः॑ । वारे॑षु । सि॒ञ्च॒त॒ । इन्द्रा॑य । मधु॑मत्ऽतमम् ॥
वाजयुं युद्धकामं मधुमत्तमम् अतिशयेन मधुमन्तं सोमम् इन्द्राय इन्द्रार्थं अव्यः अवेः वारेषु वालेषु दशापवित्रे वाजे न युद्ध इव हे ऋत्विजः परि षिञ्चत ॥
“Sprinkle upon the woollen fleece for Indra the most sweet (Soma), desiring battle as if in battle.”
For Indra pour ye on the fleece him very sweet to taste, who longs.
For battle as it were in war.
As if sprinkling a prize-seeking (horse) when the prize (is set), sprinkle prize-seeking (soma) in circles onto the sheep’s fleece,
(the soma) most honeyed for Indra.
Ergiesset durch des Widders Haar dem Indra ihn, den süssesten, Der wie beim Wettlauf Preis erstrebt.
Gießet ihn auf die Schafhaare, wie man den um den Siegerpreis wettlaufenden Renner begießt, den Süßesten für Indra!
क॒विं मृ॑जन्ति॒ मर्ज्यं॑ धी॒भिर्विप्रा॑ अव॒स्यव॑: । वृषा॒ कनि॑क्रदर्षति ॥
क॒विम् । मृ॒ज॒न्ति॒ । मर्ज्य॑म् । धी॒भिः । विप्राः॑ । अ॒व॒स्यवः॑ । वृषा॑ । कनि॑क्रत् । अ॒र्ष॒ति॒ ॥
अवस्यवः रक्षणकामाः विप्राः मेधाविन ऋत्विजः धीभिः अङ्गुलीभिः मर्ज्यं मर्जनीयं कविं क्रान्तकर्माणं यं सोमं मृजन्ति मार्जयन्ति सोऽयं वृषा सेचकः सोमः कनिक्रत् शब्दं कुर्वन् अर्षति धारया क्षरति ॥ ॥ ३३ ॥
“The (worshippers) desiring protection, cleanse with their fingers the purifiable (Soma) the sage; with a noise the sprinkler (of benefits) flows forth.”
The singers, seeking help, adorn the Sage who must be decked with songs:
Loud bellowing the Steer comes on,
The inspired poets, seeking help, with their insights groom the sage poet worthy to be groomed.
The bull rushes ever roaring.
Nach Gunst verlangend läutern ihn, den Läutrungswerthen, andachtsvoll Die Sänger, brüllend rinnt der Stier.
Es putzen den putzwürdigen Seher unter Gebeten die schutzsuchenden Redner. Brüllend rinnt der Bulle.
वृष॑णं धी॒भिर॒प्तुरं॒ सोम॑मृ॒तस्य॒ धार॑या । म॒ती विप्रा॒: सम॑स्वरन् ॥
वृष॑णम् । धी॒भिः । अ॒प्ऽतुर॑म् । सोम॑म् । ऋ॒तस्य॑ । धार॑या । म॒ती । विप्राः॑ । सम् । अ॒स्व॒र॒न् ॥
विप्राः मेधाविन ऋत्विजः वृषणं कामानां वर्षकम् अप्तुरम् अपां प्रेरकं सोमं धीभिः अङ्गुलीभिः मती मत्या स्तुत्या च ऋतस्य उदकस्य धारया समस्वरन् प्रेरयन्ति ॥
“The wise (priests) in a stream of water send forth with their fingers, and with praise the sprinkler (of benefits), the shedder of water.”
The singers with their thoughts and hymns have, in the stream of sacrifice,
Caused Soma, active Steer, to roar.
To the water-crossing bull, Soma, in a stream of truth
have the inspired poets cried out in unison with their insights, their
thought.

Mit Andacht und Gebet besang der Sänger Schar den thät'gen Stier, Den Soma in des Opfers Strom.
Dem Bullen , der unter Gebeten das Wasser überwindet, dem Soma, der in ordnungsmäßigem Strome abrinnt, haben die Beredten mit Andacht gemeinsam zugesungen.
पव॑स्व देवायु॒षगिन्द्रं॑ गच्छतु ते॒ मद॑: । वा॒युमा रो॑ह॒ धर्म॑णा ॥
पव॑स्व । दे॒व॒ । आ॒यु॒षक् । इन्द्र॑म् । ग॒च्छ॒तु॒ । ते॒ । मदः॑ । वा॒युम् । आ । रो॒ह॒ । धर्म॑णा ॥
हे देव द्योतमान सोम पवस्व धारया क्षर । अपि च ते तव मदः मदकरो रसः आयुषक् अनुषक्तम् इन्द्रं प्रति गच्छतु । अपि च त्वं वायुं धर्मणा धारकेण रसेन आ रोह प्राप्नुहि ॥
“Flow, (Soma), let your exhilarating juice proceed in continuous order to Indra, rise with your supporting (juice to Vāyu).”
God, working with mankind, flow on; to Indra go thy gladdening juice:
To Vayu mount as Law commands
Purify yourself, o god, attended by the Āyus. Let your exhilarating drink go to Indra;
mount to Vāyu according to the (ritual) statute.
O riesle, Gott, mit Kraft begabt, in Indra gehe ein dein Rausch, Zu Vaju steige nach dem Brauch.
Läutere dich, o Gott, den Ayu´s gesellt! Zu Indra soll dein Rausch gelangen; steige zu Vayu auf nach deiner Bestimmung!

हे पवमान सोम यस्त्वं श्रवाय्यं श्रवणीयं रयिं शत्रूणां धनं नि तोशसे नितरां पीडयसि स त्वं प्रियः सन् समुद्रं द्रोणकलशम् आ विश प्रविश ॥
“Purified Soma, you squeeze forth the celebrated riches (of the enemy); do you who are beloved enter the ocean.”
O Soma, Pavamana, thou pourest out wealth that brings renown:
Enter the lake, as one we love.
O self-purifying Soma, you spill down wealth worthy of fame.
As dear one, enter the sea.
Du träufelst rühmenswerthen Schatz herab, o Soma, flammender, Geh ein, du lieber, in das Meer.
O Soma Pavamana, du ergießest ruhmbringenden Reichtum. Geh als Liebling in den Ozean ein!

हे सोम मत्सरः मदकरो यस्त्वं मृधः हिंसकान् शत्रून् अपघ्नन् मारयन् क्रतुवित् अस्मभ्यं प्रज्ञां प्रयच्छन् पवसे क्षरसि स त्वम् अदेवयुम् अदेवकामं जनं राक्षसवर्गं नुदस्व प्रेरय ॥
“Soma, you who are exhilarating flow defeating the enemies, bestowing knowledge (on us); drive off the people who love not the gods.”
Soma thou flowest chasing foes and bringing wisdom and delight:
Drive off the folk who love not Gods.
Smashing away the scorners, you purify yourself, finding the resolve, exhilarating, o Soma.
Thrust from yourself the people who do not seek the gods.

Den Feind verjagend rieselst du, berauschend, Soma, kräftigend, Verstoss die gottvergessne Schar.
Du läuterst dich, die Verächter vertreibend, Rat schaffend, o Soma, berauschend. Jage das gottlose Volk fort!

शुक्रासः उज्ज्वलाः इन्दवः दीप्ताः पवमानाः क्षरन्तः सोमाः विश्वानि काव्या काव्यानि स्तोत्राणि अभि असृक्षत सृज्यन्त ऋत्विग्भिः ॥ ॥ ३४ ॥
“The brilliant purified Soma-juices are let fall amidst all praises.”
The Pavamanas have been poured, the brilliant drops of Soma juice,
For holy lore of every kind.
The self-purifying soma juices, the clear drops have surged
toward all products of poetic skill.

Die Soma's haben, hell entflammt, als lichte Tropfen ausgeströmt Die Sehergaben allesammt.
Die sich läuternden Soma´s, die klaren Säfte haben sich ergossen, alle Feinde vertreibend.

आशवः शीघ्राः शुभ्राः शोभमानाः पवमानासः क्षरन्तः इन्दवः दीप्ताः सोमाः विश्वाः सर्वान् द्विषः द्वेष्टॄन् शत्रून् अप घ्नन्तः मारयन्तः असृग्रं सृज्यन्ते ॥
“The purified Soma-juices flow swift and bright destroying all enemies.”
The Pavamanas have been shed, the beautiful swift Soma-drops,
Driving all enemies afar.
The swift, resplendent, self-purifying drops have surged,
smashing away all hatreds.

Ergossen sind die flammenden, die schnellen Tropfen, licht und schön, Verjagend aller Feinde Schar.
Die sauberen Renner, die sich läuternden Säfte haben sich ergossen, alle Feinde vertreibend.

पवमानाः सोमाः दिवः द्युलोकात् अन्तरिक्षात् च पृथिव्याः भूम्याः अधि सानवि समुच्छ्रिते देशे देवयजने परि असृक्षत सृज्यन्ते ॥
“The purified (juices) are poured forth from heaven and from the firmament upon the summit of the ground.”
From, heaven, from out the firmament, hath Pavamana been effused
Upon the summit of the earth.
The self-purifying ones have surged from the heaven, from the midspace onto the back of the earth.

Ergossen sind vom Himmel her und aus der Luft die flammenden Nun auf der Erde Fläche hin.
Die sich läuternden Säfte haben sich vom Himmel, aus der Luft ergossen auf die Erhöhung der Erde.

हे इन्दो दीप्त सुक्रतो सुकर्मन् सोम धारया पुनानः पूयमानस्त्वं विश्वाः सर्वान् स्रिधः द्वेष्टॄन् शत्रून् रक्षांसि राक्षसांश्च अप जहि मारय ॥
“Brilliant Soma, do you, purified in a stream, achieving great acts, destroy all foes and the rākṣasas.”
O Soma, Indu, very wise, drive, being purified, with thy stream
All foes, all Raksasas away.
Becoming purified in a stream, o Soma drop, smash away all errors, away the demonic forces, o you of good resolve.

Gereinigt, Soma, schlag' im Strom o Indu, alle Feinde fort, Und die Gespenster, kräftiger!
O Somasaft, indem du dich im Strome läuterst, verbann alle Fehlschläge, vertreibe die Unholde, du Einsichtsvoller!

“Destroying the rākṣasas, pour forth, Soma, with a noise, brilliant and excellent vigour.”
Driving the Raksasas afar, O Soma, bellowing, pour for us
Most excellent and splendid strength.
Smashing away demons, Soma, rush ever roaring
toward highest brilliant tempestuousness.

Verjagend der Gespenster Schar, o Soma, ströme rauschend her Die höchste, glanzbegabte Kraft.
Die Unholde vertreibend, o Soma, rinne brüllend zu glänzendem höchstem Mute!

हे इन्दो दीप्त सोम दिव्यानि दिवि भवानि पार्थिवा पार्थिवानि पृथिव्यां जातानि च विश्वानि सर्वाणि वार्या वार्याणि वरणीयानि वसूनि अस्मे अस्मासु धारय प्रक्षिप ॥ ॥३५॥
“Bestow upon us, Soma, celestial and terrestrial treasures; (bestow), Indu, all desirable things.”
Soma, do thou secure for us the treasures of the earih and heaven,
Indu, all boons to be desired.
In us, o Soma drop, secure goods—heavenly, earthly,
all that are choice.
O Soma, theil' die Güter uns des Himmels und der Erde zu, O Indu, alle Herrlichkeit.
Verleih uns Schätze, o Soma, himmlische, irdische, o Saft, alle wünschenswerten Dinge!
